Old Pine Cove #3

In For a Treat

Rate this book
One down-on-her-luck dog walker. One irresistible vet with the perfect job offer. Too bad dating a coworker is so not done.

Olive’s small-town life is crumbling as fast as an expired dog treat. Her side business is facing some fierce competition from a stuck-up dog walker and her part-time job as a barista hardly pays enough to cover the rent. Moving back home is out of the question, since her parents have turned her old bedroom into an exclusive hamster hotel.

For veterinarian Lewis, moving to Old Pine Cove with his dog Archie is the fresh start he’s been craving. He’s convinced breathing new life into the animal clinic will help him forget the big mess he left behind in Britain.

But then an accident lands Olive a job at his clinic, and before long, they’re stealing dreamy glances at each other over the treatment table.

Too bad true-to-his-word Lewis has sworn never to date an employee again…

In For a Treat is a sweet romantic comedy and part of the Old Pine Cove series. All books in this series share the same setting, but each book features a different couple.

In For a Treat. What can I say? It was fun, sweet, funny, romantic, and so much fun. Oh wait, I already said fun. But it truly was such a fun read. I immediately loved Olive and Lewis and loved their instant connection—even though it took awhile for them to act on it. Getting there was the fun part.

I've read the other two books in this series and loved them both as well! I fell in love with the community and the characters after reading the first book and really enjoy my trips back to Old Pine Grove.

I highly recommend this book and in fact, this whole series! They are sweet reads that will capture your heart. Believe me, you are in for a treat when you read In For a Treat.

Olive’s life is quickly turning upside down. She doesn’t make much money as a dog walker or a tarot card reader for dogs, but she has to find a way to support herself. Her parents turned her old room into a hamster hotel, so she’s on her own as far as finances go.

Lewis, the new vet in town, took over the animal clinic and is in the process of revitalizing it. When Olive meets the new vet, sparks immediately fly. He offers her a job at his clinic, which she gladly accepts. However, the big draw back is Lewis has a personal rule not to date employees, but Olive desperately needs to keep this job.

This is the third book in the Old Pine Cove series, but I can’t stress enough that it can be read on its own. Although the settings are the same small town, the characters are different. The couple from the previous book does make a cameo appearance but it’s more to give readers a chance to catch up with the characters, not to advance the storyline. Each storyline is contained within each book.

In For A Treat is a true “feel good” romantic comedy with genuinely good characters. Olive and Lewis are an easy couple to root for. It’s a quick read. The author has a wonderful talent to create characters that are realistic and people you can care about. She also has a great flair for humor and she brought a huge smile to this reader’s face at a time she needed one.

Sophie-Leigh Robbins has become my go-to author when I need something to lift my spirits. It’s a sweet romance with lovable characters.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. In For a Treat by Sophie-Leigh Robbins is a fantastic ending to a beautiful series.
Will Olive and Lewis get together?
Olive
Olive is the main female lead who is not in a good place when we first pop into her life. She is a dog walker, tarot card reader for dogs, and at times a barista. Along with living at home. Well, until her parents kick her out of the house. Olive is now living in a studio apartment and trying to live on "her own." She is an amazing young lady who is trying to do a lot of things while not letting Melissa get in her way.

What I like about her is that Olive stands up for herself when no one thinks that she will. I love that Olive does what she wants to do with her life, no matter what some people think. Another thing I like about her is that when Melissa is moving in on her dog walking territory, she doesn't let it phase her.
Lewis
In For A Treat CRLewis is from England and is now the new vet for Old Pine Cove. He has significant trust issues thanks to what happened in England, and it makes him a bit apprehensive about trying anything new now, like dating Olive. Lewis is a great guy, but he is still carrying some old baggage that keeps him from seeing things.

What I like about him is that Lewis knows when he messes up and tries to fix it to the best of his ability. He is a great veterinarian and is even willing to pretend that he is seeing an imaginary creature for a little girl.
Five Stars
I am giving In For a Treat by Sophie-Leigh Robbins, a five-star rating. This story had me from the very beginning. I love this last couple a lot. Probably just as much as I do of the couples in book one and book two. Ms. Robbins has done a fantastic job, and I can't wait to read more books from her.

In For a Treat is the 3rd installment of the Old Pine Cover Series.

It’s sweet, quirky and has a ton of comedy. Olive and Lewis had an instant connection, one that flowed and felt right. I could feel their chemistry coming off of my kindle.

Lewis is a new vet in our quaint small town, not one used to the gossip or how fast world travels he’s knocked a little off his feet by all the woman in town who would just loveeee to “show him around”.

But when he comes across Olive a barista at A coffee spot he’s blown away by how kind, friendly and not obviously falling at his feet. She’s a spirited change for him and he can’t wait to get to know her more.

Luckily for Lewis and his Akita Archie, Olive also happens to be the towns resident dog walker and tarot reader so bumping into her again is easy.

Their instant chemistry has then each wanting more but both Olive and Lewis have been burned before. I loved that Olive was so easy going and relaxed as a character. She was funny and light hearted, her and Lewis’s easy relationship made reading this book so much fun.

Olives story was definitely my favorite of the series. Go give yourself some “me” time and pick this one up If you haven’t yet!!

This was an awesome book that I really enjoyed. The story and characters grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the characters and watching them grow together, they were well written and went well together. I found this book amazing with great word building making me feel apart of the story and watching it unfold in front of me. A definite must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more from this author!!!

I thought this was a really fun, sweet, light read. The character of the dog walker was quirky and she didn’t take herself too seriously.
-‘She locked eyes with me. “I like silly. I love silly, even. The world’s too serious for my taste.”’-
Olive isn’t everyone’s favourite person as made clear by Melissa who starts up a new dog walking business and tries to steal all of Olive’s clients - old and new.
-‘“You’re new in town, so there’s no way you could’ve known, but Olive here is a bit… weird. I mean, look at her outfit. Don’t you think that costume is something a six-year-old would wear? Plus, she claims to be a tarot card reader. Are you sure you trust a hippie like that with your dog?”’-
Good thing the new British vet sees past all of Melissa’s fluff and gives Olive a chance, or she might find herself with difficulties making ends meet. And since her parents turned her old room into a hamster hotel... she’d have an even harder time finding a place to live.
Lewis is trying to start a whole new life after a bad breakup. He’s certainly caught the eye of just about every female in the small town. He’s taken over the vet clinic from the retired previous owner and is looking forward to a fresh start. But did he bite off more than he can chew in this small town?
This is definitely a fun, romantic comedy. It is fast-paced with likeable characters. The story keeps developing throughout so it doesn’t get stale, which keeps it interesting. It is part of a series with recurring characters but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I recommend it.

Such gorgeous books in this adorable series, I was delighted to return back to Old Pine Cove to meet the fabulous dog walker/barista/ pet fortune 🔮 teller Olive. I loved her quirkiness, and her absolutely mad parents too!
The introduction to the town of British veterinary surgeon, Lewis, certainly ruffles some feathers! The local female population are itching to take him on a guided tour and to get to know him better! Fate throws Olive and Lewis together, and it’s highly entertaining watching them become colleagues and then friends.
So many funny moments, it was a complete blast to read!
Once again I find myself wishing for the opportunity to go visit this fabulous place and to hang out with the delightful characters that live there!
It was such a treat to read this marvellous engaging story 🥰

Sweet ending to the Old Pine Cove series

I am sad to see this series end as I have fallen in love with this sweet quirky small town. I loved the overall story line to Olive and Lewis but I felt it to be a little disjointed in execution. It was harder for me to get into this book than the previous two. I felt the story line could have been developed more versus feeling like it was a cursory overview of the developing relationship that hit a speed bump then quickly developed into HEA. I did appreciate the dual POV and labeling chapters to be from a specific perspective. As always love the epilogues that give a glimpse into the post HEA lives of these characters.

This is the third book in The Old Pine Cove series & I loved it. I love how it was written. It wasn't just the girls point of view but also the guy. I love how their romance story evolved. And of course it was very funny. I couldn't put it down. I finished it within hours. I cant wait to read more of Sophie-Leigh Robbins books.

A first read from this author. It would've been perfect, except, the reason for the misunderstanding between the H and h was a bit so-so and seemed was just placed in the story because it needed a conflict.

Would still read more from this author, though.

Lewis Grant is the mysterious new owner of Pine Law Prints animal clinic that all the women in town are swooning over. Olive is a dog walker and part time Barista with a quirky personality who meets him first. Great characters and storylines in the book with a few twist and turns.

Veterinarian fun

I can't imagine anyone doing tarot readings for dogs but otherwise this is delightful. Olive is a fun character. I knew that she would end up working at the clinic.

2.5 ⭐️ for me. I felt like the characters all acted a little juvenile to me and didn’t possess depth. I felt like Olive possessed a myopic view on her life and goals at the age of 25. Lewis’s character just wasn’t doing it for me.
