Professor Elliot Brand was done with adventures. But when his former lover Ashra Shah calls him to Antarctica he knows he is getting himself into trouble. Guarded by a military unit, hidden deeply in the uninhabitable parts of the frozen continent a ruin was found, that could be the most significant archeological find in history. But Elliot Brand doesn't need long to understand that if they won't act fast, it might very well be the last one, too ...
Blending real science with fiction, this book takes you on a journey into the tims before mankind and its many mysteries.
Who would ever think that some old ruins under the ice of Ants could threaten the life on Earth? Yes, the whole entire planet! But that is exactly the unfortunate situation that poor Elliot faces in this new story. Luckily he has his girlfriend - spy Ashra there to help him again. But this time the kisses are put on hold because Antarctica is way too cold - plus they are too busy trying to solve the problem.
So I had really loved book #2. This one is great too but I feel its not as great as The Extinction Threat was. There were some elements in here I just didn't care for and that kind of ruined the story a wee bit for me. The majority of the story takes place in Antarctica in a base. And of course there is a very strong military presence there. Soldiers with guns and stuff. Its all hush-hush. Top Secret. Well there is at least one double agent. Someone working against the team. And while I did try to guess who it was (and I did guess it in part) this double agent stuff kind of ruins the story. I would much rather it be about them exploring the old ruins and finding out who built the place.
I am also uncertain about the ending: how they fixed the problem. That is I am uncertain if what they did would actually work... The book says it did but would it really??! I guess I find it hard to believe.
So to say it in simple terms, I would much rather the danger in the story come from the ruins instead of from various human factions fighting with each other...
Worse we didn't actually learn anything about who built those ruins or even what they had looked like.
But this story has a ton of action, firefights, guns...
The huge threat that was in the ruins, that was supposed to threaten the whole world, I never actually felt threatened by it? I guess I just trusted that in the end it would be taken care of...
Great story, but I liked it a bit less than the first two. I found some depictions hard to visualise, but that's not the reason I rate 4 instead of 5 stars. The reason is poor editing. The thing bothered me the most throughout the book is, there is a character first introduced as Justin, but then they just switch and he goes by Jordan.
This Book three of The Ancient Secret Book Series .
Okay so I know that this is the third book in this series but I'm still so so about this series . The main character the professor is I don't know it's just that his character is so weak . It's like the Author just doesn't know what to do with him for instance he finds these incredible ancient civilizations . And than he's like man is not ready for this and destroys them and I'm like who the hell made you God . I'm just conflicted about his character and the spice girlfriend at least she's useful . I'm going to finish this series but I'm not invested in this story at all .
The professor and the agent, what a fabulous pair. As part of her job she is sent to Antarctia. Once there she knows the professor needs to be there too. An ancient reactor of some sort is working and melting the ice. They know its only a matter of time before it blows. It needs to be shut down before the Americans or Russians try to blow it up. Exciting, twists and turns, surprises well worth reading. Great job. Thank you.
On my scale of 1 to 5, a 1 being doesn’t bother and a 5 a real page turner. I’m going to give The Ancestor Trap a solid 5. This book and the series so far are highly engaging with great story lines, strongly developed characters, great plots and surprising twists throughout. If this genre is your groove, then you will enjoy it.
As another set of impossibly ancient ruins is uncovered, the age old good vs evil, Russians vs Americans story emerges. Very interesting take on what might be under the glaciers. We may just find out as they are beginning to melt. Great read. Hopefully book 4 is in the works. This one kind of leaves you hanging.....
I couldn't wait for the next page, read it twice! Sad ending but, made good sense, even though th lovers had to part, radiation &medical problems, not to mention political intrigue. But, I could see the scientific rationale of the hero. So I recommend this tale and it's prequel . This is a best read!
So, I’ve read the first three books in the series and I am truly a fan. I love the archeology thriller type stories such as those from Rollins which this falls right in line with. Falk’s writing just works for me and the story is also very fascinating in my opinion. Already have the next book, Missing Link, ready to go !
Good but it felt rushed and jumbled. The story wasn't as cohesive and coherent as I found the first 2 stories. I would've liked more exploration of the civilization, but therein lies the plot line. Without the fast pace, pushing the ticket, this would've been a drab, but it is still a very engaging and exciting story. I love this series
I enjoyed the characters and the story. But. If you are going to do an action story and try to put details into the fighting, check what the details are first. Grenade with a safety? Pistol that automatically ejects the magazine? That’s not even trying.
I enjoyed this book, probably a 3.5 stars. A fun and easy read with a lot of action but I did not enjoy it as much as the last 2. Professor Brand and Ashra once again have to come together to save the world. This book seemed a little too similar to the last one at times though. The audible reader is good though.
I would have given this five stars, but the poor editing job wouldn't allow it. Poorly edited books are annoying! Good story, but be prepared for errors that hurt the continuity.
A little heavy on the violence. There are way too many twists and turns with one group or another, constantly trying to either stop or kill them. All in all though, a good story and an enjoyable read.
Lots of action and conflict in this battle to see who gets and controls an amazing energy power plant in the Antarctic. It seems with many of these Antarctic thrillers that people just seem to bring their military -- even though military action is outlawed on this continent.
I began to read SF books since I was 11 years in primary school. I "broke" my teeth with Jules Verne. Then came mysteries, more SF and a lot of other authors. T.S. FALK is my new favourite.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I really like the idea behind the story and the inclusion of the story of Antarctic. I really enjoyed the parts that include the story with Elliott and Ansarac(I don't recall her name but enjoy the two of them in the series!
My second book by T.S.Falk and he didn't let me down. Lots of action and lots of trying to figure out who is the enemy and who are your friends. Enjoyable read.
I enjoyed this book because the story was good, and would have given 5 stars if it was written better. It needs looking over by a good proof reader and an editor.
