I have survived the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse—but this is only the beginning of my fight for survival.
After getting out of firebombed Charlotte and running for their lives from the undead, Callie and Kas have finally found a group of survivors they can stay the Enclave. Joining forces was supposed to make life easier for them—until power cuts out and the group has to scramble, looking for ways to keep hundreds of families alive. But they are not the only ones out there hunting for scraps—and very soon they have to realize that the undead they escaped from are only the beginning of a much larger problem.
But there is hope on the horizon. Hope in the form of new friends but also old rivals.
Millions died and refused to stay dead—and now society as we know it is collapsing.
Who will live, who will die—and are the undead really the worst that is out there?
Good for what it is. Ms. Lecter is a talented author and the story is an excellent example of the disaster genre/zombies apocalypse. My main problem with the story is that we spend the whole time in the protagonist head, sometimes to the exclusion of other elements. I will read the next book in the series.
Not wanting a career in breeding pointed Callie in the direction of joining the guards. It’s non stop action and Callie and the others are in a permanent state of awareness. The Colonel’s idea of rebuilding society is short sighted and incredibly irresponsible. Repopulating isn’t and shouldn’t be an immediate priority.
Given the underground location of the Enclave they have a lot of needs that are a top priority. Food and water are an obvious concern but primarily they need a power source in whatever form they can find it. Run -ins with the Militia are inevitable. Hazards are everywhere but a when the possibility of a reliable power source opens up it’s too good to ignore.
I think the only thing that surprises me about this book is that none of it really surprised me. In this book we eventually get to hear about Callie’s life pre zombies, it was as rough as I expected it to be and there were already enough hints dropped that her occupation was obvious. As was her reason for attending university in Charlotte pre apocalypse. Although it was disturbing given that she’s only 22 years old. I don’t consider myself to be a pessimist but the depths to which humans are capable of sinking to just seem glaringly obvious. Lots of drama and well worth reading if you have a strong stomach.
This is an entertaining action packed run through a zombie apocalypse. Great castor characters and an outstanding storyline. A group of survivors fighting to stay alive through a zombie apocalypse. There’s not a lot of people left as many died in the initial outbreak and even more died when those that died began returning. A great cast of characters that you will Become attached to in someways and feel like you’re in the story with them. Although as with any horror book and especially zombie books. Do not get too attached to anyone. You never know who will survive and who will not. As if the zombies are not bad enough. We always know that the survivors are going to run into some group of butt heads out there. Yet our group of survivors run into the nastiest and most derange bunch of humans you could think of. It’s pretty sad when what’s left of humanity is worse than the zombie apocalypse. Read on and find out what’s going on and what happens. This is book 2 in the series.
I first crossed this author with her green fields and I wasn’t sure she could top that, then out came her world of anthrax series! Holy moly, this author really brings characters to life (yes even the u dead ones haha) and she knows how to take words and spin them into a story you most definitely want to binge, I know this is book 2 and I’m way behind but this is a series you want to get into. Several things happened I was not ready for, all that stuff in the power plant, yeah totally unexpected. Callie’s admission right at the end? Well girl, woah, what a history.
It's a solid book. There are some definitely odd things in it zombie rape being one and then Cassie taking the meth and going absolutely feral for another. We still don't understand why she is staying with the enclave even though they really haven't treated her very well at all. Her relationship with jared is extremely strange in my opinion. They can't choose whether they want to bang or if they want to duke it out, it is pretty distracting from the main story line. I hope as the series goes on it becomes more clear and they take some focus off of her relationship with him and focus more on her relationships with other people in the book. Caz, Osprey, or Darma for example.

I was beginning to think Callie was Bree from the Greenfield Novels. I was wrong. This is a totally different character, strong, capable, and fierce. The story so far has had lots of twists and turns and is fast-paced. I am a fan 100% and will be around for whatever is next!
I thought the Greenfields series was terrific until I finished part 2 of Anthrax, which, in my opinion, is phenomenal. Action packed, blood and gore, descriptive beyond measure and with a great ending twist leaves me begging for number 3 ASAP!
I really enjoy the extra dimensions that Adrienne Lecter brings to her post apocalyptic stories. Not only are the reasons and outcomes of the apocalypse always interesting, but her characters are always so interesting and unexpected.
Callie Callie Callie what a character she is. Are there any actual communities left worth visiting? Guess we will find out in the next book. Definitely an end of your seat, what in the world just happened wild ride of a book so far! Keep up the good work Adrienne!!
A whole fresh take on zombies, a super strong, brash but likeable female lead. There were times I wanted her to just stop talking but it all made sense with the plot twist. I'm so sad the new book is a month away- it will be my birthday present 🎁 Love this series!!
A distopean EOTWAWKI story. A female main character that really can take a beating. Extremely intense violent horrid anti-heroine story of TEOTWAWKI. Purchased from Amazon for $4.99 on November 10, 2022. Adrienne Lecter author. Kindle book read with Alexa audio assist.
Collapse is another riveting book in the World of Anthrax series. I'm totally hooked and can't wait for the next book. Adrienne Lecter knows how to capture your imagination and always leaves you longing for more.
Love all the twist interns of this book. The main character Callie, is an enigma. She is not at all the character you think she is at the beginning. Loving this series, and very anxious to start the next book.
I read Green Fields and couldn't put it down! I was fiending for the next book before I finished reading the one in my hands and this series has me in its grasp too!
Wow this one was wayyyyy more intense than the first. It got pretty dark for a bit there… but such is the nature of the apocalypse! Looking forward to book 3!
