Get ready to take a giant time-out for laughs, 'cause the bestselling creators of Take Me Out of the Bathtub and Other Silly Dilly Songs and Are You Quite Polite? Silly Dilly Manners Songs are back again to silly-dilly-fy your world.
The crowd will go wild and join in the chorus, singing sport new lyrics to childhood classics. From football to baseball, soccer to archery, there's a song for every court, field, and sporting occasion. No need to wear a helmet, and you don't even have to shout "Fore!" before singing the golf song!
I like this series. This one is quite a bit easier to sing than Mosquitoes are running my summer. And of course everyone will laugh at Cartrow’s illustrations.
One of my favorite summer activities when I was a kid was going to ball games with my father. This book was a wonderful remind of the relationship I had with my goofy dad and the summer adventures our family always took that still make me laugh at the memories. But this book isn't just good for parental nostalgia, it's also a way to remind kids that sports are supposed to be fun, and whether or not we are good at them, sports can bring us together and help us enjoy life a little more.
The songs postulate on the irony of tennis vocabulary, give a rear-view of a bicycle trip and even expound on the tirades of a boy's archery career gone horribly wrong. My favorite song had to be "All Fall Down," a football song to the tune of "Ring Around the Rosie" that tells the obvious tale of a team that gets tackled...a lot.
While this was a fun book to read, I have one major gripe with it. The tunes are a little too obscure and harder to sing than the songs from Take Me Out of the Bathtub and Other Silly Dilly Songs. The songs in this book seem a little forced and don't get stuck in your head as easily as with previous Silly Dilly books. It also didn't help that I had to sign the original song ("My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean") a couple times before I could haltingly sing "My Father Says We're Going Cycling"--it didn't do much for the overall rhythm of the book.
A fun read that will be great entertainment for the kids, but make sure you know the tunes really well before you try singing it with them.
This book was okay. I didn't care for all the songs, but some of them were mildly amusing. Some of the pictures were pretty funny, but some were a little off the wall. I might recommend if you had already read a couple books by these guys and liked them.
by the amount of times that my 2.5 yo dd had me read this book to her I am going to guess she'd give it 5 stars! Fun sports themed songs to songs you know so you can sing along. Will have to check out the other song books by this author.
I liked this book, because the reader was suppose to say the poems to the tune of a sports song. I feel this would be a great way to teach poems to students. I chose this book, because I liked the songs that the poems went along with and I like watching sports.
