Eve and Snoozy make friends with an elf who might be greedier than Yule. She sets them on a course to the dwarven realm, where an encounter with an egg leads to the fantasy equivalent of bringing home a lost puppy and domestic troubles that are everybody’s concern when extant between giant beasts.
Despite the fantasy trappings and magic and theoretical danger, this story has the stakes of a vegan restaurant. There’s nothing here that remotely resembles the merest whiff of danger for our team, even in the slightest. Maybe a fireball gets blocked, I think?
As a result, the plot is largely an excuse to meander all over the place and banter while meeting new people to banter with. Occasionally one of Snoozy’s kin will pop up and need to be put in their place and it all goes away without issue.
And in that goal of being a charming little read, it excels above and beyond expectations. These are fun people to spend time with and that makes the manga fun to spend time with as a result. You’d think that was obvious, and yet.
It’s fairly amusing just how well Rose, the elf, fits into the proceedings when it turns out that she was added at the instruction of the mangaka’s editor. Sometimes editors are a force for good and Rose might be a lot like Yule, but she’s still a solid addition to the cast. The big difference being that Yule is a lot sneakier with his mercenary side, while Rose is nakedly capitalistic.
Of course, it’s Eve who holds all this together and she is one of the most adorable urchins possibly in manga history. Her reactions and mannerisms are often just what the story needs and her relationship with Snoozy is always great.
The way she puffs up late in the book when he just matter-of-factly states she can do something? Well, I think we know who the real father and daughter in the series are. And he’s not wrong. Eventually. Toss in Eve’s flailing around a couple times and wearing goggles and it’s all gravy. The art being so good doesn’t hurt.
The main thrust of the volume takes place amongst the dwarves, which boils down to a lot of past racism between elves and dwarves plus some dragon stuff. It’s a nice point that the story makes where racism actually takes effort and if you just weren’t thinking like that things are, you know, better.
The story with the dragon egg takes some fun, if predictable, twists and also ends up turning into one very wild domestic that needs an even wilder solution. It also involves a young dwarf child who steals the entire volume in her final moments when a running gag from earlier turns into one of the most heartfelt things I’ve seen in a while.
Yeah, the plot has no driving force, boo hoo. It’s not the plot I’m here for, honestly, it’s these characters, and as long as they’re all this enjoyable to hang out with I won’t have a single complaint going forward. If you excel at one you don’t strictly need another and this just felt perfect.
5 stars - 4 overall, but that one moment with the young dragon and its carer is so absolutely charming that it completely made my day. Sometimes that’s all it takes and this is becoming one of those manga where I’ll start at 5 stars and work backwards rather than the opposite.

2.5/5 sadly I was a bit bored by this volume and I already bought the rest of the manga volumes so I’ll still carry on, but if I didn’t purchase them already, I may have stopped at this one. Shame because I really liked the first volume, but maybe there’s still hope for the series!

eve and snoozy face a new quest for a 'dragon-killer', leading them to a dwarven village and a dragon love quarrel, as well as to some new friends. rose the elf is a welcome addition...she brings some really interesting aspects of this fantasy world to light, including elf tendencies to keep others at arms length (due to their extremely long life comparative to humans) and the racial tension between dwarves and elves (she faces some thinly veiled racism at the dwarven town when looking for an inn).
rutile's connection with the baby dragon, as well as rose's desire to act 'grown up' around the younger girl, were some of the best and cutest moments of the volume!!

The Adorableness Continues.
The shot progresses in an episodic manner more akin to comic books rather than a manga, but does have a continuous overlying theme with full consideration to previous volumes So far. The story is light hearted and amusing. Definitely a good read for those in the mood for something more cheerful and less stressful.

Volume 2. A lot of Tolkien tropes like the Elf and the dwarf rivalry. A great integration of a lost chibi dragon and orphaned dwarf child. So cute! I was gushing at different moments. Very heartfelt too. I look forward to checking out more books. It’s been a while since I’ve read a children’s book so this is great.

I loooove the way they draw the dragons. Very expression heavy and almost cat or puppy like. The new character felt random but then the authors note reveals they were voluntold to add them which makes more sense. 3.5

if you didn't like the first one you sure wont like this one! this one wasn't as good as the first one but I still enjoyed and I have already picked up the next one

en este volumen se integrarón 5 nuevos personajes que me hicieron mas entretenida y tierna la lectura y al final, en las notas de autor, ella revela que fue su editor quien la convenció de incluirlos y agradezco ese gran acierto. la verdad es que sí la historia hubiera continuado con solo Eve y su compañía fantasma, sería más de lo mismo. agradecido porque la premisa y el arte dan para muchísimo más. aparte, nunca hay pierde cuando cae un elfo al equipo.
pd. para mi la historia pudiera seguir para un tercer volumen pero tal vez ahí la deja su creadora y está bien pero no del todo bien ;-;
