Honestly was ready to give this book a 4. It seemed like it was short, sweet, and to the point. Nothing crazy but a quick little mafia romance to satisfy one’s needs. Then I get to the last page and I find out I have to read the next book to find out how the story ends. It’s one thing to end on a cliff hanger but this author blatantly stopped writing the book in the middle of a story. Very annoying. And the story itself wasn’t good enough to be doing that. Moral of story I need to stop falling for the one line snippet authors post on tik tok to promote their book. One good line ≠ a good book. Lesson learned the hard way.
Utter nonsense. I should’ve just stopped reading this book when I realised it was taking me days to read such a short book.
The writing style was very bland and boring and there was zero connection between Elias and Kayla for there to even be a cliffhanger. I’ve literally never rolled my eyes so hard at a book’s ending in all my life, “I pushed the gas harder” - CRINGEEEEEEEyyyyy!!
The only times Elias could admit his feelings for Kayla was whomping time, when he just came out of no where?? I’m sorry but this book lacked depth, character and most of all a plot.
It was on my bookshelf for months and something possessed me to read it for whatever reason and I wish I hadn’t.
Why oh why are we doing these books in installments!?! I've read ALL of Kaye's books and series and this is, hands down, my favorite. I just hope I can hold on until the new book comes out!! She just gets better and better!
Well since this is my first book in this series I feel like I’m missing so much. I’m torn between going back to read the previous books or reading book 2 because I feel like I’m missing something. The book starts off with Kayla paying her debt but there’s no detailed back story. Yes I know her father owes Elias but how did they make the arrangements? How come she lives in his building and was this their first sexual experience because it feels like the may have had some kind of sexual relations prior to the first mentioned in this book.
Either way I like these 2 together and can’t wait for more. Kayla and Elias seems so tense but they clearly have chemistry. I have to know what happened with Elias, Kayla and Armen.
Kayla Dutton is working off the debt incurred by her father after he foolishly borrowed money from the mob for business reasons. When he is late with his payment, Elias Petrosyan interim head of his crime family visits him to encourage repayment. Not wanting her father to suffer, she offers to work for the mob and Elias becomes her puppet-master. She's resentful and rightly so, though most of her anger should be directed at her beloved father. We get to know her as she facilitates deals to pay off the debt.
Death to cliffhangers. There is no need for three books—IMO!

I’m not sure where to start. This is a new to me author and therefore not accustomed to the writing style. The writing did not seem to flow at all and at times seemed to be missing words or additional words that made it difficult to read at times. Then it would go to a relaxed tone to a clinical tone. Choose one and stick to it. The dynamic between the MCs was confusing and frustrating because of the power dynamic. And how long exactly had the MFC been there working off this debt. So many questions. I’ll read the next book because I’m curious not because it blew my mind.
This was a good read. I wasn’t struggling trying to get through it so that’s a plus! Kayla & Elias story was good. The spice was there in some parts which was really spicy and really good but then I felt as if the rest of the spicy parts weren’t written out enough as if it was cut short when I was expecting more and more into details.. it’s felt rushed or just enough to skim the surface a little bit and back to the day to day business. Overall it was a decent read. ❤️
This starts at sixty and revs up to ninety, quickly. The attraction, chemistry and angst is all there from pages one. While Kayla starts in a precarious situation, it only deepens over time. The spice is a three and a half chillies, and the story line and plot are on point. This is a novella, so it is a quick read. Also, it ends on a cliffhanger. Enjoy.
There was a lot of potential for this book, but it seemed to be rushed quite a bit. I would have loved more details between the lines, but nonetheless what I got was enough to enjoy it.
Not worth finishing the trilogy. Should’ve just been written as one book because cliff hanger endings with absolutely zero other resolution does not make for a good book ending. I swear I’m going to learn my lesson this time with free kindle day and never bother with it again
Lots of editing errors made smooth reading difficult at times. Despite curiosity as to where the abrupt ending would take the story in the next book, did not feel the effort to read was worth it.
Almost read this in one go but I wanted to digest what I had read. Intense, and scary than anything towards the end. There's all degrees of evil, most represented in the story. Its a continuing series and leaves you a cliff hanger.
I wanted to love this, but I just didn’t believe the relationship. It was just too quick - without any buildup or chemistry between the two MCs. 😫 still trying to decide if I want to read book 2. Maybe one of her other series will be better….
First book to be read by the author Kaye Blue. I really love how the author wrote the setting, and dynamic between Kayla and Elias. Kayla despite her circumstances she holds her own, she doesn't back down, she's fearless. Look forward to book two.
Why couldn’t just Todd be the Bad guy! Elias Dad just had to get involved. SMH Elias & Kayla make a cute couple but she needs to step up her clothing game!
Literally not a romance. What is wrong with them? Ok I guess it is but I just don’t like this type of relationship if you can call it that. Feels mean and toxic but also it is good for what it is supposed to be. My 14 year old selfs dream.
