The Marriage Raffle #1-3

Marriage Raffle Boxset Part 1 Books 1-3

Rate this book
In Jacob’s Well, each and every woman is a prize...
...Literally.
They're raffled off to five lucky bästärds whose numbers happen to come up. It’s the only way to keep law and order in a chaotic land, when women are scarce.
Welcome to the apocalypse.

Theirs to Protect
Nix never put his name in the marriage raffle for a reason.
He doesn’t need a woman.
There aren’t that many to go around anyway after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 90% of the female population.
He has his job as head of the Security Squadron and it’s all he needs.
He looks out for the township.
He protects the few women there are left.
But when his name is called to be one of the five husbands to the woman rescued from the badlands, he doesn’t speak up to correct the error.
Because Audrey’s like no one he’s ever met before.
Fiesty. That’s the name for her.
Not like so many of the women they’ve brought back before.
She’s not broken.
She might be just the woman to handle a rough, brutal man like him.

Theirs to Pleasure
Shay came into the township knowing she’d be a lottery bride.
So she’d have to marry five men.
She wasn’t the naïve girl she’d been eight years ago.
She’d learned the lessons that had been beaten into her and she’d learned them well.
So yes, so she’d share her body with her new husbands.
But her secrets were still her own.
The men are different than she expected, though.
They each had their own reasons for entering the lottery.
There’s Charlie, who’s so sweet and kind.
Rafe, who’s a light-hearted jokester during the day but dark and demanding in bed.
Then Jonas and Henry and Gabriel, each bringing their own damage and beauty to the clan until, day by day, they begin to feel like a real family.
There’s just one little problem with the happy new family clan.
One of them isn’t who he appears to be. He is a spy for the enemy.
Will Shay and the township be doomed before she and her husbands have a chance at lasting happiness?

Theirs to Wed
All Vanessa ever wanted was to be loved.
Okay, strike that—all she wanted was not to die at the hands of the homicidal maniac who was obsessed with hunting her down—and to be loved.
Was that too much to ask?
The plan was simple:
Go to Jacob’s Well.
Enter herself in the Marriage Raffle.
After years of barely surviving, finally get her happily ever after.
But nothing’s ever that simple, is it?
Turns out she’ll have to fight tooth and nail for her fairytale ending.
The prize has never been more worth it, though—Five men who love and adore her, and at long last, a home and a family.
… if she survives to tell the tale.

About the author

Stasia Black

75 books2,103 followers
Stasia was born in Georgia, grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave.

She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken up biking after a twenty-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were we?

Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that make readers alternately laugh, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).

Just Yuck

I made it through one and a half of the stories before I had to quit.

Let me just say that I do NOT shy away from darker themes and "edgier" kinks (i.e. RH, Bully, Daddy, Priest, Mafia, Sub/Dom (love 'em)) and this is one of the few that left a distinct distaste in my mouth.

The writing itself was pretty good, though the story's were rushed and too much focus was on the smut and not the plot or character development. Yes, I know we're all here for the D but that can't be all of it.
However, if that's what you're after this series has you covered in abundance.

It might be a bit harsh, but honestly reading this has turned me off of this author, at least for now.

⚠️ ⚠️ SA/DV TRIGGER ⚠️ ⚠️ The story in general has the potential to be good but unfortunately I had to return it after about a fourth of the way through the second book it is just way WAY too much SA/DV happening. Along with the authors flippiness about it made it very uncomfortable to listen to. As a long time survivor of both and an avid reader of "why choose" smut books, I honestly have never read a book that has this much disregard for the readers. The book itself definitely needs way more character development to go with the excessive spiciness going on. It's like the characters can't take a breath without somebody having to either be durn near uncontrollable, or straight up SA someone. Then when you finally get past that it's like it's rushed to throw in some filler info that doesn't necessarily make sense just to justify continuing the story..

interesting concept?

How do you explain the absolute necessity of a reverse harem? An apocalypse that causes most the woman to die off. An attempt at restoring order by raffling off woman to several men. And forming clans.
These books don’t sugar coat what happens to the few remaining woman. And it really looks at things from a man’s perspective too.
Running through the whole books set, is the plot line of people doing everything they can to bring order to chaos and reestablish family values.
Trigger warnings: The sex scenes are well written. There is no M/M relations except one instance of attempted rape.
The author shows the characters enthusiasm for sex by using the lord’s name in vain. That was a bummer.
There are scenes of rape, death and abuse of woman. Slavery. there are graphically written scenes of murder.

Should have stopped at book 3

This boxset was over 1700 pages. This is different than any other RH that I have read as it's set in a in a post apocalypse worlds where TX has become its own country after a deadly disease takes out 90% of women. The first 3 books were alright easy to get through and individually would have been 3/5 stars each. The remainder of the series (book 4 and 5) just felt like it was dragged out and possibly readers were requesting the stories of Drea and Sophie although the plot kept you engaged the characters did not.

Brutal, engaging, and heart stopping romance

Readers beware of significant Triggering events within these novels! This is probably one of the best romance series I've ever read and the storyline is beyond anything I could have ever seen coming. Every book was better than the last somehow and I think I'm in love with the author now.

Not particularly likeable characters

Basically pity porn. As in the females were all presented as pitifully stupid and horny. This appears to be written for males with weak storylines and not even remotely believable sex scenes. I couldn't finish it.

This could be so much better

This series has a great story frame but way too much fluff. I found myself skimming through to get through the unnecessary parts. And the females are kinda dumb and stubborn, like way more than necessary. Steam is pretty decent.

I loved it

I loved the whole series. The way you got to know everyone story and background. How all the books came together, and the stories all collided.

Some of the stories were okay and some I didn't get into. I think the world build was awesome and a lot of cool details.
