Rate this book
Failure can ruin lives and families. There's no denying it. It can destroy your health and obliterate your self-esteem. But it also holds a lot of value on the road to success.

FAILURE RULES! walks you through five essential rules to help you pull value from any failure—as proven by Andrew Thorp King's personal stories of dramatic, cascading failures in business, relationships, art, and life.

Journey through key failure lessons from a wildly diverse set of successful entrepreneurs, creatives, and authentics, including Winston Churchill, Sara Blakely, Henry Rollins, Andrew Yang, Toby Keith, Ryan Holiday, David Goggins, Glenn Beck, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Billie Jean King, Srinivas Rao, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, J.K. Rowling, and many, many more.

The experience and immediate tangible results of failure suck. But if you follow the rules of failure—seeing beyond the mess and picking through the good stuff left in the rubble—you can move forward into success.

I am an executive fintech banker, spy novelist, speaker, punk rocker, podcaster, ex-bodybuilder, cigar lover, and serial entrepreneur. I founded two independent record labels—Thorp Records and Sailor’s Grave Records—and have invested in many spaces, including online lending, fitness, lead generation, and independent music.

I am also a serial failure. I have crashed and burned through bankruptcy, divorce, mortgage default, public assistance, and multiple business failures. But, like a jack-in-the-box after a punch, I pop back up every time, rebuilding my life—informed by failure—with a big smile on my face.

A useful guide
"Failure rules" is a useful guide penned by Andrew Thorp King.
Sometimes, people go through complicated situations in different spheres of life, so what this book strives to explain is how to stand up despite any failure.
Here, the author teaches the importance of standing up after failures. The author gets you to know this through examples mentioned of well-known people, such as Winston Churchill or J.K. Rowling, among others. They firsthand experienced failures but they overcame them and their lives changed for the better. So, there is a lot to learn with this well-written book. It's interesting and life changing, ideally to keep it handy just in case. Without a doubt, I recommend to creatives and entrepreneurs who are determined to make a twist in their lives.

FAILURE RULES!: The 5 Rules of Failure from Entrepreneurs, Creatives and Authentics is the flaming book guide showing different kinds of failure everyone faces, and how to rise from them.
The author sections the chapters by types of failures. For example, I am a big fan of Tolkien and in one of the chapters called: Failure the great purifier, the author enlightens how the war took a toll on Tolkien but he managed to rise from that by writing some of his most popular works.
The book gives an objective, yet extensive understanding of what to do in situations of failure. It also motivates you, mentally and spiritually to keep going to feel your objective or purpose. I loved reading this book, and I highly recommend it!

The first thing I would say about this book is that it is not definitely a read for everyone! However, it’s crucial to add and to keep in mind that everyone will be able to get something out of it.
Readers may discover that some sections of the book are more relevant to their life than others, depending on their unique circumstances and thoughts on failure.
As regards the writing style, it’s absolutely accessible, engaging, agile and interesting from the very beginning.
Something I really liked about this title is how harmonious the author includes quotations, definitions and drawings that make everything easier to understand and follow.
It’s a great piece of work that I highly recommend.

A necessary read.

Failure is not nice but it is necessary and likely inevitable on the road to success. FAILURE RULES!: The 5 Rules of Failure for Entrepreneurs, Creatives, and Authentics written by Andrew Thorp King focuses on rescuing what is important from each failure and learning the lesson about it.
I am not a pessimist but I really liked that the author openly says that failure sucks because it is real and, in my opinion, accepting it is the first step.
This book is honest and can be hard but also can be a great help in dark moments and it is applicable to business, and personal life. Also, it uses personal experiences of celebrities and important people which confirm the author's words.

Who has never failed in their life? It's said that failure is human, which is why author Andrew Thorp King presents five essential rules to help us derive value from any failure. Each one of us has failed at some point in our lives, and that makes us learn from our mistakes. Being better day by day should be our goal.
I loved how the author presented this book, and all the true stories that it presents to us. We can clearly see that even the most famous businessmen have failed, but they have also known how to recover and thus be who they are today. I wish I could come across books like these more often, I think they are very helpful.

When I found Failure Rules in the store, it caught my attention. When I saw its cover, I was extremely surprised and intrigued, and when I started reading it, I found myself trapped in a book that has no comparison. It is a practical guide with advice and help experiences for people who are in difficult periods of life and who need help to overcome obstacles and failures.
It was really very useful to me and gave me satisfaction and peace of mind reading it. I have taken a lot of your advice and I do not regret it at all, so I recommend it without hesitation.
It is easy and fast to read and it is special to share with loved ones.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review. All thoughts & opinions are mine and mine alone.

Thomas Edison one said “I have not failed. I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. Failing often seems like the worst possible outcome. In this book, Andrew Thorp King did a great job highlighting the fact that failure isn’t final, it’s more of a redirect to something better.

This book is great for anyone (like me) that feels they have failed more than succeeded but uses the failing as a learning experience.

Books that have accompanying playlists are pretty damn good. Books that playlists with artists such as Black Flag, Hatebreed, and Johnny Cash have to be awesome. And Failure Rules! delivers. Andrew Thorpe King provides practical advice for everyone. King uses years of experience and hard-learned lessons to hone a list of five essential rules for almost every aspect of life. King makes no guarantees, but he does provide stories from his life and others, such as Henry Rollins and David Goggins. This is definitely worth a listen or a read!

Talk about "don't judge a book by it's cover"!

I actually started this book a while ago and not getting too far into it somehow got the impression it was going to be heavily religious and stopped.

Well, I'm glad to say when I picked it back up I was so wrong in that assumption and in fact found the organization of Andrew Thorp King's book to be awesome! I really loved all of the examples provided in each break down (even if many of the artists were unknown to me). There was great summary following the examples, and I look forward to sharing this with others!

Embrace failure

In this book, author Andrew King details his own failures and the lessons he was able to derive from them. He goes from rejection, to permission, personal moral ambiguities and more. Using examples and quotes from such famous people like Winston Churchill, Mr. King shows us that everyone experiences failure. It's how we rise afterwards that defines us. This was a very inspirational book for me a d I thouroughly enjoyed reading every aspect of it. Don't let your failures rule and define you!

Failure Rules!

A very positive message and inspirational story. And quite entertaining.
We all fail, sometimes hard and fast! But the key is to live through it and keep going. This book can help teach ways to avoid some paths to failure, ways to get yourself back up when you do fail, and can motivate you to keep going, even if you are like me and have no clue what you are doing (I hope this is not a failure of a recommendation!)
