Just my way of saying thank you for giving my books a try.
Spoiler Alert: so even Though the main character is recently divorced and has a young some who is neglected by his father she looks into a man she has never met before eyes and that’s that,
They spend no time together , don’t have any discussions but everything is based on a feeling,
And of course he is a wonderful family man? Has superior morals and is a billionaire,
There is a big difference between fantasy and out of the bounds of any reality. I am a prolific reader but gave up half way through because she had set a course to start a new life for her and her son but them Literally caves in after Five minutes with the billionaire.
And just when he has finally found her it looks like he may lose her again...is he brave enough to trust the mate bond? As a businessman he is used to getting his own way and being in control, can he hand control over to Maggie and trust her with his heart? Maggie has grown massively in the months she has been at Bear Creek Lodge, she has healed and grown, and is far stronger than she ever has been before. She will need every bit of that strength to face the demons from her past that are out to trap her. I like Maggie, Quincy and Henry together, Quincy is a protector who will always put the two of them first...which is exactly what they need. In turn they have as much love to give as Quincy could ever need and he multiplies that love back at them. A sweet shifter read on Kindle Unlimited.
I was let down by the ending. It seemed rushed and missing some chapters. The problem with Paul wasn’t resolved. I wouldn’t believe he’d just walk away after Quincy told him no. This is not what I expect from this author- or a good editor.
DNF at 30%. So much telling rather than showing. So much awkward filler dialogue. Not to mention that the characters just say whatever to push along the story, without a thought for personality, age, or if it even makes sense for the character.
I love returning to the Bear Creek universe any chance that I get, and Maid for the Bear is a perfect example of why. Maggie and Quincy start off the A Second Chance at Bear Creek Lodge series with a sizzling, sexy, fun, engaging, well-written story that quickly captured my imagination and drew me into another chapter of this amazing world. And, of course, Henry – one of the most adorable kids to be found anywhere. He just wants a dad who loves him, wants to do stuff with him, and for his mom to be happy. This kid is going to grow into an amazing man one day.
Maggie has been shattered by her cheating ex, but more than for herself is his abandonment of their son, Henry. She’ll do everything possible to give her son a good life, and starting over in this small town should give her the chance to do that. She didn’t expect the owner of this house to show up unannounced, and she certainly didn’t expect the attraction she feels for Quincy – more like, she doesn’t trust the attraction because she’d given her heart before and look where that got her. And she would never allow Henry to be hurt again by another man.
Quincy has spent his life building a world that would be financially ready for when he met his mate, but that hasn’t happened so far and the years are moving on. Imagine his surprise when returning to Bear Creek to tend to Clint he discovers his mate in his own kitchen baking cookies with her son. Yeah, not quite what he was expecting but he’s immediately certain Maggie is his mate and that means that her son, Henry, is his to love and protect as well.
Until trouble rolls into town in the form of the ex-husband and the father who abandoned his son… now Quincy is fighting for his family, their future, and one nasty piece of work who would destroy all of that without thought just to get his own way.
I loved Maid for the Bear. It’s a thoughtful, emotional romance with sizzling chemistry but also a deep growing love between a man, a woman, and a little boy. I adored Henry, he stole hearts and every scene he was in. I understood Maggie’s hesitation even as I was wishing she’d just give love and Quincy a chance. Paul, well, he’s no better than stuff I’d scrape off of the bottom of my shoes and I despised him constantly. Quincy is a man who has waited for years to find his fated mate and is willing to do anything he needs to do to keep her and her son in his life. Their story is well-written, full of action, and some sizzling moments but mostly the kind of love that any woman with a young child would want to find… unconditional for them both.
If you love getting started on a new series, if a second chance love lights your fire, if an adorable child melts your heart, or if watching a couple fall in love even though there are outside forces against them… then this story, this series is a perfect match for you.
I always love trying new authors. Give me a bear shifter on top of that and I'm a happy camper. It's a party when you throw in a small-town. As with many shifter stories you have the instant attraction when they find their mate. I don't often like instant love but with shifters I really don't mind it. I'm not saying that I don't want them to work through things and learn to come together as a couple but I'm also no upset knowing they we be together.
You'll love Maggie's son. He's such a sweet boy that you'll want to hug and protect. I understand why when Maggie learns that she's the mate of Quincy that she doesn't jump into it. She's already been hurt by her ex-husband and doesn't want to do anything that could upset her son. Or break her heart again.
You can't help but be happy for Quincy finding his mate. The weird part is that through reading PNR we've learned that it's not easy to find a mate but also learn that every friend of the hero/heroine will find theirs too. Crazy right? Ha!
Quincy knows right away that he's Maggie's mate but understands that she's not comfortable with all the rushing into part and does his best to take it slow. When he thinks her sons, father wants to spend time with him he makes sure to back off and let them have their own time. He's truly a great guy.
As a family they all work together. You can see that Quincy will do anything he has to for his new family, and you'll feel his love. I also enjoyed the relationship he has with his friends. This story makes you want to learn more and enjoy their stories too. After reading Maid for the Bear, I was happy to find a new to me author.
This is an OK shifter romance, with a likable couple -- but it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I wanted more backstory on both Quincy and Maggie.
The couple does fall in instalove, which is typical for shifter romances. There are sex scenes, but they are not overly explicit.
I did think that Maggie would have had a harder time accepting the whole fated mates idea. She wasn't a shifter, and was recovering from a painful divorcce -- so I think she would have had a harder time believing that Quincy would never betray her like her ex.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating. I know that this author writes lots of books -- but I wish she would concentrate on one series at a time, so that the books could be published closer together.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Quincy comes back to Bear Creek to help when a good friend gets sick. When he gets to his house that he rarely uses, he meets his maid Maggie and her son Henry making cookies in the kitchen. He instantly knows that she is his mate, but the road to true love is never easy. When Maggie's ex-husband comes to town, Quincy and Maggie both have to decide what this means for them all. I loved how Quincy and his bear talked things out, and how they both took to Henry immediately. Maggie's first thought is always about what is good for her son, like it should be. This is a nice fast-food story.
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steam but no real action. The characters are vivid and engaging. This is the start of another side-series of the Bear Creek and Bear Bluff original series. The 2 original series are in a box set that has them all in chronological order if you want to start at the true beginning. Then there is the Return to Bear Bluff box set, before some Return to Bear Creek box sets and then some singles in the series. Then there are the many side-series as I am calling them. It makes for in intricately intertwined world that I love. It is great to be back in Bear Creek again. No matter if you start at the beginning, or just read this book, you are in for an enticing entry into Bear Bluff/Bear Creek. Enjoy!
I thought this was a good start to the Second Chance at Bear Creek Lodge Series. I enjoyed this book and thought the connection between Quincy and Maggie was amazing, but considering everything Maggie and her son Henry have gone through when not only her ex-husband Paul left her but didn’t want anything to do with Henry either. All because his mistress was pregnant and she didn’t want to share him with Henry. It totally made sense that Maggie was gun shy where her and Quincy were concerned even though she knew all about how much mates mean to shifters, and that any children they had from a previous relationship would become like a biological child to the shifter. It made their relationship seem more realistic even though it was still at warp speed. Henry totally stole every scene that he was in. When Maggie and Quincy are ready to take a step forward towards their happily ever after, Paul shows up in town. I can’t believe how low Paul would stoop for his own bloody gain. He didn’t care that he not only hurt Maggie but Henry as well. It made Maggie realise that how right Quincy is for her and Henry as Quincy doesn’t want to hurt either of them, even if it hurts himself. I’m looking forward to reading Curtis’s story next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
"until I met Quincy, I would never have entertained the idea that anything other than our family being back together was what he needed." The man who cheated on her and then told her he didn't want to see his son anymore because he had to focus on his new family? That guy? She would have taken him back?????
“You mean she isn’t the husband-stealing homewrecker you thought she was?” Note to female authors, STOP. The home wrecker is always ONLY the one who broke their vows. Not the other woman/man. The SPOUSE! It blows my mind that this book was written in 2022 and authors still tout that misogynistic line as if the spouse has no control over their actions. Gross. Auto star off for authors that do this.
This book was written 7 years after the last book I read and the writing style hasn't really changed but what has changed is she's now extremely repetitive. Constantly repeating the same things over and over again and my guess is that's for a higher word count since this book is over 100 pages longer than the other. Yikes. This may be my last book by this author. Not even half way thru and I can't figure out how much more they can progress. Obviously there will be more repetition. This book could have been done in half the time. But thankfully the drama wasn't as bad as most authors make it. Heroine caught on real quick to ex and his deceit
I really liked reading about these two. Our MMC,Quincy, is a smart, strong bear shifter who does not get pushed around. Our FMC, Maggie, has been through a heartbreaking divorce but she has kept it together and come out stronger for her son, Henry. Henry is a sweet little boy who has been disappointed again and again by his birth father but is thrilled when Quincy enters their lives. When her ex comes to cause trouble, they don’t let him. Such honesty and logical thinking was refreshing in a romance where there’s usually ridiculous misunderstandings or easily avoidable obstacles. Awesome!
I gave it a four star rating because I wasn’t thrilled how open ended they left the ex situation. Both main characters telling him off and not paying him was a great start, but I don’t think he would just fade into the background. Honestly, I would like to see this book expanded a little bit. I would love to have a bring-daddy-to-school day scene since Quincy went. Woulda been interesting if both men actually had showed up. And of course I want the ex to see some comeuppance for being a jerk. A wedding scene wouldn’t go amiss either.
First book in this new series I am no stranger to this author and I found her books link together set in the same world a town or two over you get the odd cameo from time to time but not to many spoilers (maybe I just read them in order of realise) this book had me wondering about Grant and lana? I had a feeling I have read there story but could not remember (I read a lot my reviews help me remember ) sometimes author do a extra book but you have to sign up to something and download it (hate that,) or there story could be in another series? (Often the last book before new series) I did feel I had read this story maybe it's because it's not original but I thought the camping wouldn't happen because of a work thing he had to dash off two sending mix signals to maggy and henry I'm glad there was not much push and pull sometimes that bugs me people are grown adults say what you mean and feel.We don't read minds but we are fully grown. A nice storyline like the other characters looking forward to Curtis finding love next. I would of liked his mum to show up?
Was enjoying this right up until it seemed to rush the ending with some things left unsorted. No conclusion as to Paul and what was him basically attempting to blackmail Quincy. No sit down explanation for Henry about WHY Quincy was late for their school day and why he would never let him down. Henry was made to feel less important to Quincy by this action, so it needed remedying. Yes, Maggie worked it all out for herself, but was left feeling Quincy wasn’t to be trusted until she did. Henry needs to know his biological donor is not to be trusted. He was portrayed as a smart boy right from the start, so some honesty would help him be aware in the future. Maggie is not protecting Henry by leaving him ignorant, should have at least given him that explanation. With Quincy’s finances, they should be hiring a PI to prove Paul unfit so he never gets to influence or use Henry, as you know he will try to do. Because there is no way Paul will give up trying to get what he sees is easy money and would happily use Henry to do so. Read through kindle unlimited.

Maggie’s is dealt a devastating blow when her husband has an affair, then tells her he wants a divorce. If only it stopped there, but he also lets her know that he can’t be bothered with his son Henry, as his girlfriend is pregnant & wants all his focus. Quincy is home to care for his mentor Clint, who has fallen ill. He never expects to find his mate in his own kitchen! Maggie has been cleaning his home for a few months, but he had never made the time to meet her. This is a wonderful story about a woman who needs to know that they come first & little boy who is starved for the attention of a father figure, though Maggie gives him everything he needs. Quincy fills that void, at least until Maggie’s ex suddenly reappears, stirring up trouble, but what exactly is he after? This was a sweet, sexy read with a bear shifter who just knows, a woman who needs a little convincing & Henry, who just wants a dad to love him & go camping with! Check it out today!
I keep telling myself that I have to finish books I start, but when there's zero character or plot development, it's books like this that make it really hard.
This is a clean romance about a shifter billionaire whose internal monolog with their bear feels never ending and a severely distrusting divorcee mom who all the way up until 2 chapters before the end doesn't fully trust the male lead, fall in insta love. Toss in an 8 year old with a vocabulary that's both over and under age appropriate, and is willing to just accept practically anything except people being late. If my review makes zero sense, it's still probably more consistent than the book. This whole book occurs over days, DAYS. I just can't people, even most insta love books give it a few weeks to months.
Fall in love with Quincy and Henry. Henry is so cute. A boy full of excitement and wanting to do and try things. Just a boy who is fun, loving and curious. Quincy is a business man who found his true calling in his mate and son. The life he always dreamed and never thought would happen. Reality and fate happened and his dream comes true. Paul is a ridiculous man who is out for himself only. Poor Henry has a father who wants nothing to do with him unless he can use him to his advantage. Maggie well she's the woman who was hurt by the ex and struggling to believe that Quincy is true. Its a cute story for dreamers.
Maggie is heart broken over a failed marriage but she is more upset how her ex-husband just discarded their son from his life when his new girlfriend got pregnant. Maggie and her son are starting a new life with new friends. Maggie meets Quincy and he realizes that she is his mate. The three of them are happy together and they all love each other. Then the exp husband crawls out of the woodwork and tries to break everything up. However the truth always comes out and Quincy, Maggie and her son finally let go of their troubled past and find their happily ever after future together.
Quincy needs to go home to Bear Creek because the man that help raise him is sick. But when he gets there he finds the person he has hired to clean his house there with her son but what he didn’t expect to find was his mate. Maggie and her son are making cookies when there is a noise at the front door not expecting the owner of the house she is embarrassed that he found them making cookies. But Quincy doesn’t mind he just wants to spend more time with them and convince them to be his family. But trouble comes in the form of her ex husband. So enjoy another good read from this author and see how they get their HEA!!
Maggie is the maid at Bear Creek Lodge, where Quincy returns home and they meet. Maggie is Quincy's long awaited mate. Paul, the "delightful" ex-husband, and dad of Maggie's son, Henry shows back up and attempts to throw a spanner or two in the works.
Maggie is a strong character who is kept going by her sweet kid, who brought some nice light hearted scenes to the book. Quincy was a decent guy whose Bear was great fun and I would have liked to see more of it. Overall, I did enjoy the book however I felt some of the characters had some scope for deeper development and there were a few small loose ends that could have been tied up a bit more.
Quincy Muldoon is a self made, honest and fair millionaire. His life is set with everything any self respecting bear shifter could want, except for a mate and family. But when he returns to Bear Creek to help his friend and mentor, Clint, he discovers Maggie, his mate, and her son, Henry. Thus begins a heartwarming story of love, family and proving your value to the love of your life. Complete with conflict with her ex and concerns about Clint, this story brings it all together for a fully satisfying HEA.
This is a sweet and steamy romance. Maggie never thought she would have a second chance at marriage but, when she met Quincy, she quickly realized that she does deserve that second chance. Quincy, a bear shifter, knows immediately she is his mate. He never expected that his mate would be in the small town where he grew up. Then Maggie's ex-husband comes to town for nefarious reasons although he pretends he came for their son. Their romance almost failed but they got back on track and had their happily ever after.
This book is like if someone pulled suggestions out of a hat in a creative writing class and then sat down to write a book.
The following suggestions were pulled: Female lead: Single mom Male lead: Billionaire Location: Quaint bed and breakfast Twist: Bear shifters
The writing wasn’t great. There really wasn’t a story. But if there was one, the summary is as follows:
Chapter 1: “We’re fated mates and everyone you know is a bear.” Chapter 2 through 25: Maggie has trust issues and a resting bitch face. Quincy is a nice guy. Epilogue: “We’re fated mates and everyone you know is a bear.”
Quincy is a billionaire bear shifter. He goes back to Bear Creek when his mentor, Clint, ends up in the hospital! Once he gets to his house in Bear Creek, he is shocked to find his mate and her young son in his house! Maggie is his maid that Clint hired for him!!! Will Quincy convince Maggie that she is his mate? How will the return of her ex-husband, Paul, effect their relationship? A great book!!
Maggie is trying to start fresh with her son in Bear Creek. When they decide to make cookies at her second job she never expected to see the owner of the house come home while using his oven. Quincy is drawn home and when he opens the door and sees Maggie he understands why. His mate, Maggie and her son are there. Now he needs to figure out how to tell her about shifters and that they are mates. Easy enough to do right?!
I still am honestly puzzled how do many readers gave this such high reviews. I almost stopped reading several times and at the end skimmed because I had hope it would be better. This wanted to be a shifter romance book, but missed the mark. There was no real plot, true climax, and none of the characters were developed. Felt like someone spin a wheel to choose roles for the main characters and went with it. Won't be reading any further books by the author.
Maggie moved to the mountains after discovering her husband was having an affair . Quincy was coming home because his friend was Ill and his future was uncertain. Maggie worked at the inn that Quincy’s friend owned. He walked in and knew immediately Maggie was his mate. Now all he had to do was convince her and win over her son. What a great story. Enjoy
Well worth reading as it's exactly what you're looking for if you picked it up! Very few spelling issues, but it does have what I consider the worst placed word error! There's a she/he mixup in a major impact moment, and it took the moment instead. Like trying to figure out who's hand is where on a "Twister" board! Good story and everything else. I do recommend it, I'm just too picky about spelling errors in books. 🐝✋🐺
A big city businessman who loves the country And meets his mate. It's a sweet story of wanting, It's a sweet story of wanting, longing and finding. I enjoyed the characters each was unique in their own way And at the fit together perfectly. This is 1 of many books in a series they also blend together but there is no unfinished books the all have a happy ever after.
It was ok. I always struggle to find a shifter book that I like and that I can continue with the series and author. This book wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad. It was just a sweet story. Not much angst. The FMC and her son had learned about shifters in the background prior to the story. So there wasn’t that challenge. The ex was a bit of a challenge but it was resolved quickly and there really wasn’t a final face off so again done in the background. Instalove. No relationship building.
