In the midst of ‘sort of’ planning a wedding and helping Nellie Smith, Port Danby’s mayor, figure out what is wrong with Marty Tate, the town’s beloved lighthouse keeper, Lacey gets pulled into her favorite pastime—solving a murder. While two neighbors engage in a well-publicized feud about a new oversized barn, one of them winds up dead. Was it the enraged neighbor? Lacey soon discovers the victim has more than one enemy and there are plenty of motives to go around.

I enjoyed daisies and destruction and that more characters are getting page time. Like the light house keeper and the new mayor. I'm also glad that Kate's story will head in a different direction.
"Daisies and Destruction" is another great installment in the Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series. This time, Lacey and James are thinking about eloping rather than having a big wedding. Of course the only other person who is happy about that idea is Lacey's father. Her friends want none of it. Each has their own selfish reason.
Meanwhile, Marty, the local lighthouse attendant is acting strangely. First, he forgets to turn on the light one foggy night. Then, he is found wandering the beach and not knowing where to find the gate to his garden. Lacey and the other townspeople are concerned but not before Marty gets angry at all of the fuss.
In another matter, there is a huge red barn being constructed which has cause quite a bit of concern and hostility at the town council meeting. It seem Jerrold Hampton is having the barn built so largely to aggravate his neighbor and obstruct his view of the ocean. However, Jerrold also has mismanage his building loan by purchasing a new tractor and now does not have enough money to continue on with the construction. He is also suing his tenant,Evan and even the contractor, Colton Bramley. Oh, and did I mention that Jerrold's Fiancee catches him cheating? Well, you can imagine there is no shortage of murder suspect when Jerrold is found dead in his burned out barn.
Murder is where Lacey Pinkerton shines and this read is no exception. She and Briggs work to put all of the pieces together also while trying to come to some very important life choices about their future together including where they are going to live. What makes this series so entertaining are the characters. You can feel the connection between the residents of Port Danby and Lacey seems to tie everything together in a nice bow. I am looking forward to the next book in the series "Lilacs and Liability."
This is book #19 in the Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series and I really loved it. This was a satisfying read having many good things. I have read this series from the beginning book to this one and they all have several things in common; good mystery, great characters that I have come to know and love, good buildup of plot and ever-changing things in the main characters lives and a god ending.
In this book we are following James and Lacey's wedding plans, concern about the Lighthouse Keeper's sudden change of behavior and the new Mayor having to deal with several people annoyed at a huge barn being built on a neighbor's property that is going to block the view of the beach.
Murder happens and Lacey, James and a lot of people try to solve the mystery of who, why and the effect it has on the community as a whole!
I gave this book 5 stars and look forward to the next book. Here is a list of the books up to now, and I strongly suggest you read them in order, however you can read them any way you want!

The weather's starting to cool down in Port Danby and there might be a tiny murder in town. Little one. Barely noticeable. With Briggs being the only detective in the area, he's stretched pretty thin (as usual) and Lacey steps in to lend her amateur sleuthing to his investigation. Which, honestly, Briggs doesn't mind AT ALL.
On top of the unexpected death, Lacey is trying to plan a low-key wedding (one where everyone seems to want her and Briggs to go all out instead of the quiet affair they'd prefer) and there are some issues with Marty she's trying to figure out. (On the up side, that particular issue ends up having a positive ending. I was a little worried for a while and am VERY glad with how things turned out.)
A gathering with the ladies, a very unlikeable victim, a little drama, and an understanding Briggs. Well, he was mostly understanding. He only had to chastise Lacey once for putting herself in a potentially dangerous situation. *thumbs up*
If you have never read. London Lovett cozy mystery, I highly advise that you do so. Right now there are 4 cozy mystery series and one is just as wonderful as the next. Port Danby will not disappoint. You get a nice, not Gorey, murder mysyery, that you can try to solve yourself. ( not that Or is ever have). Plus if you read them on order, there are several back stories that are entertaining. I highly reccomend.
love this series. Great reads that keep you guessing but light enough that i still can put the book down and be a mom that remembers to feed her kids (an important balance in my life).
Way to go Lacey, sometimes everyone has to tell it just like it is. Finding out what was wrong with Marty was a miracle and a relief, I was not ready to see him leave the adventurers just yet.
This is a great book. London Lovett has out done herself this time. Lacey Helps Briggs solve another murder and comes to a personal decision to help her future.
Each book gets better and better. I love the way all the romantic relationships are coming together. Another cozy mystery that captured my attention from the first page.
The latest from Port Danby with Lacey and Briggs, and of course King the Crow and Nevermore the Cat.
It's getting colder and Autumn is arriving, Lacey and Briggs are planning their wedding, however their plans aren't going down well with Lola and Elsie, Lacey's bridesmaids.
The Mayor enlists Lacey's help in finding out what's wrong with the town's lovable lighthouse keeper when he starts behaving strangely.
Lacey stumbles across another murder, this time of a rather unpleasant farmer who is making life difficult for one of Ryder's best friends.
A series of cozy mysteries, each a standalone story but are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
