Eight years after their ship crash-landed, the colonists from Earth have learned to survive on another world.
Despite the relative harmony of the colony, Galena remains a treacherous place. The oceans are ruled by massive aquatic beasts that restrict the survivors to their farms and the lands beyond - where other dangers lurk. A chance recovery of multipurpose space suits in a salvage crate and an unnatural tunnel leading away from the colony unlock a pathway to exploring the forbidden oceans, where an amazing discovery awaits.
But the only revelations do not come from below. A glint of metal in the sky heralds a new arrival. A ship has come at last... but why?
Born in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Samuel grew up a mile from the gates of Kennedy Space Center. His grandmother built space shuttles, his father designed scientific equipment that flew on them, and Samuel watched the launches from his rattling front porch, dreaming of the stars.
His best-selling novel Mission One, a near-future first contact odyssey, is the book that launched his career as a science fiction writer.
He recently spent three years traveling the world with his wife. They welcomed their son near the end of that journey and are now spending their days exploring the United States while Samuel works on his next book.

These books are the most entertaining books I’ve ever read. Seriously. I haven’t read a single book in years. And these books really kickstarted my reading journey!
I can totally understand why people say that reading takes you to new worlds.
I’m a very, very slow reader and I procrastinated reading this cuz school, homework, etc but I never stopped being passionate about this book!! This series is so amazing. I’m probably Samuel Best’s biggest fan. (All the books I’ve read this year are from him lol but he really deserves it. He’s extremely talented.)
Although, I do think that in some parts it got a little slow and confusing, but you just have to keep reading to make the connections. And, to be honest, I had to read the Titan Chronicles first loll. The main character of that trilogy IS in this one, but it explains enough of what is going on with his character.
The cliffhanger at the end with Gavin and the Weaver had me thinking!!! That’s so freaky. And another pro, Best’s specialty is definitely the descriptions! Those descriptions that he gives throughout the story really have you imagining, and I have a TERRIBLE imagination lol. He’s an amazing writer, and I will definitely recommend it to readers who just need a quick, fun read :) I will definitely read this one again!
Thank you for this Samuel Best! You are definitely my favorite author.
The first part of the series, Another World, was a bit disappointing (but not bad). Now, with the second part, Samuel Best is changing how he is telling the story. He did two things that I found interesting: (1) He emphasized the planet - Galena - more by weaving its interesting flora and fauna into into the story, and (2) he is connecting the book to his previous series (Titan Chronicles) and even brings in one of the main characters of that series. Both things together make „Third Colony“ are very interesting read. The pacing of the story feels a bit off - for many pages barely anything happens, and then all of the sudden the entire story is being told. But all in all, a nice story for everyone who enjoys space exploration SciFi.
A change of direction from the first book, one that did nothing to advance the efforts of the settlors. Human relationships seem to have been replaced by monsters and their threats. The introduction of political aspects from Earth takes the focus even further away from the settlors. I was hoping that the story of the settlors and their efforts at growing crops, especially alternative crops and developing a self-governing colony would raise more thought provoking issues. However, the plot has taken a different direction that now starts to stretch credibility and makes it more of a computer game of dungeons and dragons, with a few odd characters introduced.
I have been a fan of Samuel Best for a long time now, despite the fact that I don't read a lot of science-fiction, yet I always enjoy his books from start to finish. I would recommend that you read the first book in the series, however you could still enjoy this book on its own. But the backstory of the characters makes the storyline more interesting. I could not put the book down and I cannot wait until the next book, since so many questions left unanswered. This Series definitely makes my list of books that I like to re-read again.
The sequel to "Another World" masterfully blends with the "Titan Chronicles" series, in the universe Samuel Best has created. Existing stories expand with fresh ideas, and move forward, while intersecting with exciting new ones. I recommend reading the previous books, so you can fully appreciate how everything "clicks" together.
A bit dull. Not much happens, and following different characters throughout the whole book without most of them ever meeting is frustrating. It ends up as nothing. This is part 2 of a trilogy and it feels like it. Build-up that doesn't conclude in this book.
Probably best to read all 3 and consider it ONE book, which is a shame as it really fucks with the pacing.
Definitely a good read. Some people aren’t very easy to like, and they don’t care. They consider themselves more important than everyone else. I do plan to read the 3rd book! Excellent Science Fiction!
It’s eight years since ANOTHER WORLD. The colony has survived but new challenges arrive with visitors who have questionable motives. At the same time, the planet has more secrets to disclose. A real page turner.
Well written, engaging, just like the first in this series. Hard to find quality authors sometimes, but Best is one of the best! absolutely worth your time.
