I am surprised to say that this is one of the best “villainous isekai” reads I’ve ever come across folks like Melissa is the literal queen and Nine is just so adorable! I hardly can find a decent villainous series out there and this is one of them to have waste my time on! The art was very beautiful, especially the way Melissa dresses like holy smokes *chefs kiss*! Her personality was just spot on too!

I always like the “gender role swap” shown in my romance manhwa list so imma obviously put this down as one! I can’t wait literally for the 30 chapter epilogues and this deserves a anime adaption y’all…just saying!

Like, can we have more strong female leads like that? I dont care how crazy she it, I love her and I fear for whomever decides to be her enemy.

The story and the characters caught my attention from the very first chapter but the slow progress is killing me. Usually a lot more would happen in a span of 8 chapters but because the scenes with the prince took too many chapters I feel like nothing all that interesting happened. If every character is gonna need several chapters to explain and introduce themselves this is gonna get really boring really quick.

I love FL's personality and her facial expressions so I'll keep reading. However, I can already guess following this webtoon chapter by chapter is gonna be a drag so maybe it's best to wait for more chapters to be translated to avoid being super frustrated with each chapter.

Bueno, decidí no continuar con la lectura de este manhwa (me quedé en el capítulo 58, final de la primera temporada). Me gustó como esta historia quiso darle más importancia a la que normalmente se le da al feminismo, pero esa es la única cosa positiva que tengo para decir. Se me hizo muy aburrido, y los últimos capítulos los leí por arriba porque la historia no. me. im. por. ta. ba en absoluto.

Incredibly entertaining isekai story so far - college student is reborn as the "villainness" in a well-loved romance story with a four male love interests and a heroine, but none of them are truly how they seemed when she first read it. I do love female characters with depth and the KAM vibe is immaculate (Nine can stay).

Season 1: (chapters 1-58)

Story line: I became the villainess of a novel! Do I hate it? No! I actually find it rather nice.
A duke’s daughter = a jobless rich person. How I can miss out on a chance like this?! This is the best chance to just enjoy life. I should throw out the main plot of being a villainess, and just live life how I want to!

Not long after waking up as the villainess in a basic reverse harem novel, I witnessed my fiancé- the novel’s male lead-(the crowned prince) cheating on me with multiple women. This was so shocking I was brought to tears… Just kidding, I didn’t cry! My tears are worth too much to be wasted on that garbage. Instead of tears, I calmly asked, “Your highness, are you trash?”



Along with the crown prince- the other romantic leads for the FL-Yuri- are my younger brother, a strong werewolf, and an obsessive billionaire. But it turns out that all of them are complete duds outside of the storyline!

The girl-crush protagonist that will completely throw out the main story! Why? Because it’s a waste for a girl to be surrounded by cheap cars. (cars = men) Instead Melissa befriends the FL and tries to set the male leads straight- along with making new friends along the way.

This was hard to read because while I like Melissa, I hate all the men in this story so much. UGHHHHH!!

I sort of want to read more because I haven't met all the "love interests," but literally the two guys we met are absolute garbage and 1000000% get Melissa's rage towards them. There is literally nothing positive to say about either one of them and felt so frustrated by the end because of their actions.

I guess on the flip side, this manwha really creates an interesting sense of compassion towards Melissa because of how stupid the guys are. I feel I don't really know her as a female lead simply because she's angry every single page and almost every single moment. We know what she wants to accomplish, but it's hard for me to see how she'll get there especially if the next two guys are as crappy as the first set.

I will give credit to this story for how dang funny it was though! Lots of hilarious expressions and it was fun to flip through and show my husband because I don't think I've ever read a story with that wide of a range of emotions in a handful of pages alone!

It just stinks that I really don't know if I could handle reading another volume when the guys tick me off so much. 🫠 If I thought Sovieshu from The Remarried Empress was delulu, Ian's actions in this volume make him look a wise saint, which is saying a lot because he's the most delulu character I knew before reading this! LOL!

Overall, I feel this was hard to read simply because of stupid characters making stupid actions, and a smart and fun female lead is stuck with trying to get away from said characters, but is struggling to because they want to suddenly keep her around. I think if you're looking for a funny(?) villainess story, this one might be it, but unfortunately it wasn't for me.

[This is an ongoing webcomic with, at the moment, no ending in sight as far as I know, so I've made it to Chapter 34 but have not technically finished it.]

I succumbed to the Korean webcomic ads that I keep stumbling across lately for some reason, and I realized that it might be a good idea to keep track of them, so I know which ones are worth going back to a few months down the line when more chapters have built up.

This is one of the countless "woman dies and finds herself in the body of the villainess of the romance novel she was reading" stories out there. I can't remember what Melissa's initial goal was, but in the end she decided to just accept the fact that she's naturally a little villainous. Instead of going after the book's heroine, however, she decides that she isn't going to take any crap from the book's four potential heroes. There's the prince (Melissa's cheating fiance), her brother (who treats her like an annoyance), some werewolf guy she has barely even talked to so far (although she did fight him), and a rich guy (who, when crossed in the novel, kidnapped the heroine, so Melissa already knows he's a dirtbag).

Melissa is a fun character - it looked for a second like she might eventually end up with Ian, the prince, after his shocked reaction when she repeatedly tried to reject him, but happily that doesn't seem to be where the story's going. For the most part, she's pretty firm in her "these romance options are crap and the heroine shouldn't have to deal with any of them if she doesn't want to" opinions.

I love the artwork, particularly characters' facial expressions. Unfortunately, as is the case with many webcomics, the story feels a bit directionless, and the pacing is weird. It takes ages for any really interesting developments to happen - Nine, Melissa's most likely romantic option, didn't even show up until maybe Chapter 20-something.

Still, I love Nine and his sad unrequited (in his mind - the reality may soon be different) love for Melissa, and the book's original heroine is turning out to be a good character as well. I plan to read more of this. At the moment, my rating would probably something like 3.5 stars - I'm having fun with it even though I wish the story were tighter.

Empecé leyendo este manwha esperando algo más serio, tipo "El único final de la villana es la muerte" pero me sorprendió bastante que haya tantas referencias a memes pero a la vez la prota sea muy fuerte. Es una historia completamente distinta a lo que esperaba pero me encantó, ahora seguiré con la segunda parte siuuu

Me ENCANTA esta historia. Así, con mayúsculas, porque es el mejor descubrimiento del año y estoy deseando que salgan más capítulos.

Cogiendo un género que está de moda (el que una mujer normal tras morir se reencarne en la villana de una obra de ficción, pero conservando los recuerdos de su vida anterior), se hace una subversión de tópicos brutal y una denuncia del machismo.

Melissa es la supuesta villana reencarnada, pero no, esto no es harem reverso. Los supuestos pretendientes son una basura de hombres a cual peor y eso ¡se denuncia en lugar de justificarlos!

- El príncipe y prometido de Melissa es un niñato, un capullo y un infiel. Se dedica que acostarse con todas las mujeres que le gustan ¡delante de Melissa para restregárselo por la cara y hacerla sufrir! ¡¡Sabiendo que Melissa (antes de recuperar sus memorias de la vida anterior) está muy enamorada de él!! ¡¡¡Y encima tiene la cara de decir que es culpa de la malvada Melissa, que es mala porque quiere pasar tiempo con él y que le demuestre afecto porque es su prometido!!!

Normalmente es un tópico que esté este compromiso y al final se rompa cuando él se quede con la protagonista, despreciando a la prometida villana que se metía en medio de la relación. Aquí se muestra claramente que el príncipe será muy guapo, pero es una basura de persona con cero empatía, que se aprovecha de su posición para coquetear con mujeres y no asume las consecuencias de sus acciones porque cree que todo gira en torno suyo. Incluso, de modo genial, cuando el príncipe conoce a la protagonista, Yuri, y empieza a coquetear, no se representa como una escena bonita. Al revés, el lugar de sentirse halagada, se ve que Yuri está incómoda por la atención indeseada de un tío que se ha fijado en ella a primera vista y piensa lo peor de él porque "¿Pero qué hace si ni le he dicho hola? ¿No tiene una prometida? ¿¡Y coquetea con otra en su cara humillándola de esta forma?! Este tío es un capullo infiel que no respeta a las mujeres, ¿por qué nadie querría estar con alguien así? Pobrecita su prometida, no se merece esto." Maravilloso abordar esta situación desde la sororidad en lugar de pensar, como es tópico, que qué suerte que un guaperas me haga caso, la novia que está en medio es muy mala.

- El hermano de Melissa. Es un tipejo como Edward Cullen que se dedica a espiar a su interés romántico y actuar como él cree que es bueno para ella sin preguntar ni respetar la opiniñon de la chica, actuaciones que justifica con que eso es amor porque ella le interesa mucho. De nuevo, en vez de justificarlo dicen bien claro la verdad: eso es espeluznante y se llama acoso y obsesión, no romance; no puedes estar enamorado de una chica que conoces de vista y ya querer organizar su vida, simplemente te gusta porque es guapa y la estás idealizando en base a cómo imaginas que es, sin molestarte en saber cómo es de verdad.

De nuevo, normalmente según el tópico este hermano de la villana y ella se odiarían porque ella es muy mala. Aquí se dice claro que si se llevan mal es porque él es el primero que la trata mal. Es un condescendiente borde que chulea porque él es hombre y, por tanto, el heredero. Y en lugar de escuchar a las mujeres invalida sus opiniones y hace lo que le da la gana porque "yo sé lo que quieres mejor que tú misma (idiota), si dices lo contrario o replicas obviamente estás mintiendo, ¿quién va a tener razón sobre ti, tú misma o yo? Deja que te explique tus propios pensamientos y sentimientos, mujer, que eres demasiado imbécil para comprenderlos por tu cuenta".

- El tópico de el hombre violento y salvaje que odia al resto del mundo y trata a toda la gente fatal. En el caso de Melissa se mete en su casa sin permiso, le habla mal y empieza a destrozar cosas "por culpa de ella, que ha provocado" (existiendo, es una actuación en base a sospechas de él). Pero en lugar de decir que las mujeres deben darle cariño y comprenderlo y aguantarlo hasta que deje de comportarse así, ¡se deja bien claro que ser violento y desagradable está mal y que le den, porque ninguna mujer tiene que aguantar semejante comportamiento para demostrar a un hombre que es digna de ser tratada con respeto, al contrario que el resto!

- El típico multimillonario como el de Grey, del que se deja claro que es el peor. Es un enfermo que considera a Yuri una joya que él tiene derecho a poseer porque él puede tener y hacer todo lo que quiera y punto. Si ella rechaza sus avances, como no acepta un no por respuesta, está dispuesto a secuestrarla y "guardarla" en una jaula de oro en la que esté muy bien cuidada "por el bien de ella". Obviamente aquí se dice que es un enfermo y habría que ponerle una orden de alejamiento de medio planeta.

En este contexto, Melissa es la única que habla con Yuri, la trata como a una persona y no un objeto y ¡decide que la va a proteger de ese cuarteto de repulsivos para que pueda llevar una vida plena y hacer lo que quiera! Sublime.

Además, como se puede intuir, Melissa es una personaje fantástica. Es una mujer que quiere disfrutar su vida. Enfrenta sus problemas y busca soluciones aunque esté en inferioridad. No es simpática ni dulce ni falta que le hace. Tiene mal genio y se exaspera y se cabrea, como cualquier persona si tuviera que aguantar lo que ella aguanta. También maquina y juega sucio si hace falta porque ¿a caso el resto está jugando limpio?. No obstante, también es noble y con sentido del deber y con sororidad. ¡Y tiene momentos geniales en que reconoce sus propios errores o su machismo y mejora! En definitiva: es muy humana y te puedes identificar con ella. Igual que Yuri, que aunque no ha tenido aún tanto desarrollo se ve que no es una muñeca perfecta, que es como la perciben por su aspecto; es una mujer con talento que quiere progresar y que, aunque sí es dulce, eso no quiere decir que no se enfade y desespere ante según que situaciones.

Son un duo fantástico y Melissa es un icono. Punto.

A todo lo anterior hay que añadir que la serie tiene el humor justo y muy bien balanceado para ser graciosa y relajar los momentos de tensión, pero sin por ello convertirse en una bufonada incapaz de tratar temas serios. Además de varios guiños a la cultura popular (sobre todo friki) y un dibujo muy agradable ¡a todo color! y también con el uso justo de estilo superdeformed para mantener el humor y expresividad sin ser ridículo.

La única razón para que se haya quedado en 4 de momento es que no es una obra terminada y no puedo analizarla en conjunto.

Estoy cruzando los dedos y rezando para que Melissa se quede con Yuri en una relación sana en la que se comuniquen y cuiden mutuamente.

This was a little bit weird and a whole lot funny. I'm so curious to see what's going to happen next especially with the introduction of this newest character... I love that Melissa isn't wanting to continue being a villainess but she is also not interested in changing people's perspectives of her.

Beware of the Villainess rilis pada saat kisah bertema villainess menduduki puncak trend di industri manhwa. Namun meski temanya mirip dengan manhwa-manhwa yang populer saat itu, Beware of the Villainess memiliki keunikannya tersendiri. Yaitu karakter dan perkembangan plotnya.

Melissa Podebright, adalah tokoh utama dalam Beware of the Villainess. Motivasinya sedikit berbeda dari tokoh-tokoh antagonis lainnya. Biasanya ketika seseorang merasuki tokoh antagonis, dia akan berusaha sekuat tenaga untuk mengubah kepribadiannya menjadi lebih baik. Tapi Melissa tidak seperti itu. Dia tidak berniat mengubah dirinya menjadi wanita paling suci, dan bahkan dia juga tidak berusaha memikat sang tokoh utama pria. Justru sebaliknya. Melissa sangat membenci semua tokoh pria dalam dunia novel yang dia masuki ini.

Ini pertama kalinya aku membaca cerita dengan plot seperti ini. Biasanya ketika tokoh utama tahu dirinya akan mengalami nasib tragis, dia akan berusaha mendekati tokoh utama pria dengan mengajukan pernikahan kontrak. Tampaknya plot semacam itu sudah tidak populer. Aku bersyukur sekarang ada lebih banyak variasi plot yang tidak hanya membahas hubungan kontrak.

Selain plotnya yang menyegarkan, manhwa ini juga memiliki karakter-karakter yang unik. Tidak hanya Melissa yang berkepribadian unik dan ekspresif, tapi juga Yona, pelayannya yang super matre. Dinamika hubungan mereka berdua membuatku tidak bisa berhenti tertawa. Lalu, ada Yuri, si tokoh utama yang asli dalam novel tersebut. Awalnya aku mengira Yuri memiliki sifat seperti tokoh utama asli di cerita lainnya. Berpura-pura polos, padahal sebenarnya jahat. Tapi aku salah besar. Yuri justru sangat baik dan bahkan sangat menyukai kepribadian Melissa yang bebas. Lucunya, Yuri dan Nine seperti bersaing mendapatkan perhatian Melissa.

Oh ya, di manhwa ini, Melissa tidak dipasangkan dengan para tokoh utama. Dia malah mendapatkan sosok pria baru, yang bisa dibilang sebenarnya pria itu hanya tokoh figuran. Kepribadian keduanya sangat bertolak belakang, namun jika diperhatikan, Nine yang pemalu memang cocok dengan Melissa yang blak-blakan.

Manhwa ini juga memiliki banyak adegan yang bisa dijadikan bahan meme. Perut dan rahangku sakit setiap kali melihat betapa ekspresifnya Melissa. Ditambah lagi tingkah laku para tokohnya yang terkadang absurdnya melebihi batas normal.

Secara keseluruhan, meski di awal terasa lambat, namun lama kelamaan manhwa ini menarik untuk diikuti. Bagi pecinta meme, manhwa ini seperti tambang berlian karena ada banyak adegan yang bisa dijadikan referensi meme. Kepribadian para tokoh yang absurd hingga adegan-adegan lucu di dalamnya membuat Beware of the Villainess cocok untuk para pembaca yang butuh tertawa sejenak.
