Secrets—everyone always says they’re for your own good. They’re not. Ignorance isn’t bliss. It’s f*cking misery. Betrayal. Complete desolation…
A world that used to be a comforting shade of gray is now painted black. Rose stands on the precipice of a volcano. Constructed by secrets and lies. The truth is ready to erupt and burn everything she loves to ashes. Nowhere is safe and nothing is as it seems. Heaven and Hell are hunting for her. One seeks her death, while the other’s motives are unknown. The sole light in all this darkness is him. But they can only live in the fantasy for so long before the walls of fate crumble around them.
Desolation is book 2 of a dark paranormal romance trilogy. The story is told over all 3 books; a HEA will not happen until the final book.
I've had a few days so I can now process and review. With book 1, I just spewed all the thoughts but I felt like this needed a little more processing time.
This review will read and explain my thoughts (without spoilers) with the expectation that book 1 was completed. So if you haven't read book 1, Retribution, go read that first.
This is book 2 in a trilogy. . . . .
. . . . SERIOUSLY Frankie!!!! Come on!!! I know they're cliffhangers and I absolutely love the way you tell them. You manage to somehow create ongoing strife while simultaneously giving some resolution. It's a beautiful mix.
For most of this book I admit to being biased. I like Ace. He was there first and he said all the right things in book 1. So I we t into this, automatically not liking Greyson. I didn't think he was nefarious but he just wasn't Ace. I was so mad when Rose seemed conflicted on Ace and her dreams. I wanted it to be a real person I could tell at. You are truly talented to raise someone's blood pressure with your stories.
And as book 2 ended. I'm not envious of Rose and I really want to see the rest of this story play out.

My Review:
I received this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.
This series is centered around three main character; Ace, Rose and Grayson. Ace and Rose’s story is told in the first book in the series Retribution. Although he is partially in this book also. This book is more Grayson and Rose’s story.
Ace is a demon, Grayson is an Arch Angel, Rose is partial demon, partial Angel and partial human. In the first book she only knows of her demon. She sold her soul to Wrath in exchange for her boyfriend to survive a stabbing. Wrath is Ace. In this book we learn that her father is Lucifer who is not only the Devil but was born an Arch Angel which accounts for her being partial Demon (she sold her soul) and partial Angel (due to Lucifer being her dad) and partial human (due to her mother being human). Her lineage upsets many of the powers that be. She is in a constant battle to save her own life while keeping her demon at bay. This book is very suspenseful! You are torn between wanting Ace to be the one who saves her and wanting Grayson to be the one. A very powerful Arch Angel wants her dead. Lucifer hasn’t made his presence known so far. I’m anxiously awaiting the final book in this series to find out Rose’s fate in addition to Ace and Grayson’s!
This is a suspenseful must read book and series. Thank you Frankie Page for the opportunity to read the ARC!

In Desolation we pick up right where we left off in Retribution and Rose's action packed story continues at full steam ahead. The biggest change in Desolation vs Retribution is that we see much more of Grayson and very little of Ace. I'd explain why, but I don't want to spoil all the fun. Much of this book is about learning more of who/what Rose is, more of her backstory including suppressed memories, and more about who/what Grayson is, all while on the run from .. well... literally everyone.
The spice is fantastic! The action is still great, albeit slightly slower than Retribution as they are in flight mode, not fight mode. The plot and all the little things that keep coming out had me not wanting to put the book down. This book has a fairly good cliffhanger but book 3 is out Oct 2022, so that should not be an issue. I am looking forward to seeing how Rose's story concludes!
Mind the TWs. While there are less than book 1 (Retribution), still check them.
Ooh why do this to me. Get me so enamored with this book that I’ll be crying because it ends on a cliffhanger.
So many things happening. We really dive into the mystery that is Rose and boy does it pack a wallop. Because of who she is, she finds herself on the run with Grayson who he himself has one huge secret. But his identity explains many things that have taken place.
It’s a ride that is so intense til the end where the author has a few more tricks up her sleeve.
Love Rose but am torn between Ace and Grayson. So hard to choose. Think both at this moment.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
This book did not disappoint in the heat and action!! This book is less Ace and more of Grayson. It's nice to see a switch in the relationships with Rose between good and evil. They are just trying to survive in this book and it shows more of the paranormal aspect than Retribution. Be ready for the cliffhanger, but Pandemonium is releasing soon!!
If you loved Ace and Rose then you will love this continuation. Not everything is what it seems to be and the adventure is just about to get even juicer.
Experience the romance, thrill, panic, and discovery. You won’t regret it!
Oh my. Desolation gave me anxiety with all the suspense. I felt like I was on edge for most of this book… waiting for the other shoe to drop for Rose. So good!!! This is the second book in the Rose’s Inferno Trilogy so, if you haven’t read book 1 yet (Retribution), you may want to go run and grab that! I’ll try not to ruin anything from book one, but I can’t make any promises. After the events in Retribution, Rose finds herself in hiding a bit. She’s also struggling with her feelings and emotions as well as processing all of the new information she’s learned about herself (I can’t say specifically WHY without spoiling). She does have Grayson by her side though, intent on protecting her. Speaking of Grayson, we get to learn A LOT more about him in this 2nd book which, I was super curious about anyway. He grew on me after seeing his true intentions by being in Rose’s life. With Ace being a little indisposed, it was interesting to see how the relationship between Rose and Grayson progressed. And, lets me real, the steam between them was pretty intense! Lastly….. THAT ENDING!! WAS CRAZY! Okay, that’s all I’m saying about that. I cannot wait to see what happens in book 3!!!

🔥Quick Notes🔥 2nd in the Rose’s Inferno Trilogy (there is a cliffhanger) Love triangle Dark Paranormal Romance Angels & Demons Lots of suspense! Forced Proximity
Desolation starts off right where we left off in book one and the action and suspense have been kicked up a notch keeping me on the edge of my seat reeling with anticipation of what was going to happen next. It was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride of ups and downs.
Poor Rose goes through a lot of emotional turmoil, angst and pain in this part of the story and my heart broke for her. Greyson and Rose become closer while on the run and their connection and bond becomes stronger. The sexual tension was at an all time high and there was no way these two could stop the desire and lust between them. It was explosive and hot!
My emotions were all over the place with this one. I miss Ace but I grew to love Greyson and the way he always wants to protect Rose. I am still a bit shocked at how this one ended and I can’t wait to see how this story finally concludes.
I couldnt reccomend this trilogy enough! It has quickly made it's way into my top 10 re readable series list!
I read book 1 of this trilogy in a day. I sat anxiously waiting for the ARC copy I was blessed with so I could then devour that in hours!
The intensity and rawness of emotions that were already high in book 1, were reatched up another level. Rose's inner battle with coming to turns with all the lies and betrayals of her life is done in such a palatable way. I felt thise peaks and valleys, right along with her.
Don't get my started on the love triangle! I am very firmly on team Ace and I found myself at moments going a little softer on Grayson. But only a little. There were plenty of times I felt myself screaming at the decisions Rose was making in regards to Grayson. I can only hope there will be consequences for everyone's actions.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I wont go into details, but that ending had me screaming! Once again I anxiously wait to conclude this trilogy and get to that promised HEA.
Holy smokes, Desolation is truly full to brim with all of the things. Every emotion is felt here, both the good and the bad. As we learn more about Rose's past and who she is, we see her really grapple with what that means for her and her future. Learning that your very existence may bring about what's essentially the end of days is a tough pill to swallow, especially for someone with Rose's past and who is a good person in her heart. Rose really goes through it in this book and the fact that she's still persevering in light of what's happened is kind of amazing, I think I'd be ready to throw in the towel if I'm being honest lol. I can't wait to see what Frankie has dreamed up for us in Book 3, that cliffhanger was brutal!
Angels and Demons, oh my!!! Man what a intense and heartbreaking second book of the trilogy. Not only do we get time with Rose and Grayson exploring each other and their relationship but Rose finally gets answers to some of the secrets that Ace and Grayson have been keeping from her. My heart just broke for her and all that she endured though. I am also so curious as to how the nature of her duality is going to play out. I am absolutely invested in this story and am just dying to get the next book!!
Eleven months is a long time to wait to read the next instalment of a series. On picking up this book I wished I’d taken the time to read Retribution again because it wasn’t until I was two chapters in that I finally remembered what was going on. Once things had clicked in my mind it was much easier to follow the story.
After the initial rush of action following the cliffhanger of the previous book, the pace of the story slows significantly. With Rose and Grayson hiding from both angels and demons, and Ace nowhere to be found (much to my disappointment), there’s not a whole lot to happen. The lull is broken by a few notable events but I shall not speak a word so as not to drop spoilers. The book is at its best in the final few chapters when the high stakes start to seem much more real. It’s the perfect set-up for book three (for which we won’t have to wait nearly as long).
The story has major Supernatural vibes (think seasons 12 and 13). I’ll admit that I’m not up on angel lore but the comparison seems closer to the mark than any book I’ve read lately.
While I enjoyed the book, I didn’t seem to get into it quite as well as I did its predecessor. I suspect it will turn out that Desolation is best read as part of a binge of the whole trilogy. I’ll let you know how true that is next month when Pandemonium releases.
Desolation will keep you on the edge of your seat with the action and suspense, and the anticipation of what would happen next almost made me have a complete meltdown. Rose and Greyson’s connection grow while on the run and their chemistry is palpable. My heart hurt so much for everything Rose has to goes through in this installment. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more and I can’t wait to read what’s next!
This PN read book two gives more backstory into Rose well all of them Ace, Gray etc. We see the before and current what part each played the good bad and evil. Rose relives it and that has to be hard and intense. A suspenseful read and quite intriguing.
I received this copy and my spoiler free review is voluntary
What an absolutely wild ride. I can not wait until the third installment of this trilogy. The first book Retribution is so gripping, the FMC starts her journey by leading you along with tales of her traumatic past all to show you her current struggles of loosing her humanity and embracing her new future. In Desolation you see her past and future coming together in a form of a love triangle. The FMC is being pulled in both directions of Heaven and Hell and you are left on an unimaginable cliff hanger! Counting down the days for the final release!
I don't know that I'm going to want this story to end. 🥺 I'm really excited to see what's going to happen in the last book though! This story had my on the edge of my seat, literally biting my nails through it because I couldnt predict what was going to come next. I love Grayson's protective/broodiness. 😂 If you haven't read the first book yet, this is your sign to go do it now!
Desolation by Frankie Page is book 2 in the Rose’s Inferno Trilogy. After selling her soul, Rose belongs to Ace, or so it seems. Now, the bartender where she works, Grayson, offers to help her escape from everything. But, there’s a price….and shocking revelations that she discovers on the trip. Meanwhile, they are being pursued….and it isn’t just Ace who is after them….there are much more dangerous, perilous energies at work…
This story was sooooooooo good!!! The plot just gets thicker and thicker….ends in a major cliffhanger!!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow, so much information in this book! We pick up right from where we left off in Retribution. We learn so much in this book, I don't even know what to say without potentially spoiling things. While on the run from both Heaven and Hell, Rose learns so much about herself and what her existence could mean. I was at the edge of my seat even though there was not much action, the tension that was created by the unknown and all the revelations had my head spinning. I cannot imagine what is coming next, that cliffhanger has me dying for more though.
