Heirs of Braidwood #3

Reckless Redemption

Rate this book
They destroyed my chance at leaving Braidwood for good. The secret I kept from them is out, and to say they’re angry is an understatement.

My rage with them ruining my plan is rivaled with the smothering guilt when I see the hurt in their eyes. Since being back home, trust and feelings grew between all of us.

That wasn’t meant to happen. The boys of my past were never supposed to be part of my future. Now, I wanted them even though our life made that impossible.

Our villains want us under their control, and right now they have it because of my mistake. We’re puppets on their string unless we can find a way to break free.

I only hope I don’t loose the three pieces of my heart in the process.

Review:
Firstly I’d like to thank Kay for sending me a copy to review! Also I posted this one in a timely manner so I’m v proud of myself🥹

Wow what an end to such a fantastic series! Reckless redemption has definitely been my favourite out of the trilogy and I was honestly so sad to put it down and finish it😅

A lot happens in this book honestly to the point where I was crying for how much bad luck they had! Every problem solved opened another but I’m so glad they get their happy ending! Although it’s one thing after another, it didn’t feel choppy or like it was dragging; every problem was important for each characters development.

I’m a huge fan of Kay’s writing style, it’s the perfect ratio of speech to description that prevents my dyslexic brain from skim reading and jumping! And there’s so many ploys and deceits that even skipping one sentence will cause you to miss out on an unraveling!😅

I kind of wished the prologue was set further in the future when they had a family, but then I realised that it’s highly unlikely for them to have a family based on the disaster their families and childhoods where. It was definitely a bittersweet ending for me as I’m not quite ready to say goodbye yet; but I’m excited to read Kay’s other series!🥰

For lovers of:
- Dark romance
- Reverse Harem
- Why choose romance
- Dark morally grey men
- Gang violence

This hit my kindle. I immediately opened it and read the entire thing without moving because I was that sucked in. It left off right where the last one ended and dove right into the secrets and lies of this city. We get our same fine as all hell three men and our baddie heroine, as well as some character cross over from other past stories. This was incredible from start to finish. Had me on the edge of my seat, unputdownable and the Seggsy a scenes woooo i needed a fan; that pool scene with the ice and the hot wax gave me life. The way these men will do anything for their women is just, swoon.

DO NO SIT ON THIS AUTHOR!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶🌶
This is a review of the entire Heirs of Braidwood Trilogy.
I freakin love this author. I will read anything she writes.

I wish I had a Kindle Scribe because this series, along with the author’s other series Suncrest Bay, requires note-taking. Since I’m cheap, I just use the good ole notebook and pen. There are so many secrets, betrayals, and/or just things that the characters may know, but the readers do not. And the reader doesn’t find everything out all at once. As a reader in the beginning, you’re given minimal information about several things and you have to come up with theories which you may have to add or change as you learn more. There are twists and turns. You are kept on your toes and continually left guessing. It’s difficult to put the books down because you just have to know what happens!

The relationship growth between Kat and her boys was fantastic. I can’t choose a favorite because they are just so perfect in their own way. West’s bell flowers, Eli’s necklace, and River’s tattoo. GAH. 😍

The series ended perfectly. There are so many problems that the characters are dealing with and I had no idea how it all would be fixed in the last book.

I fell in love with the Suncrest Bay series and I was so ecstatic to see them finally make an appearance in the third book. Vanessa is such a badass, and Ky is still as possessive as ever. I AM BEGGING FOR A ZAK AND CASSIE BOOK…. PLEASE KAY! 😊

The spice is perfect. Just perfect. And OMG that pool scene… 🥵🥵🥵

There are potential triggers in this series, including graphic violence, forced drug use and attempted SA.

one big happy ending

ARC review releases 12.28.22

This book picks up right where we left on book 2 and damn, to say Kat has a lot to make up for is an understatement. Despite the betrayal West, River and Elias felt, they never gave Kat a chance and it would seem it was too late. Kats plans backfired on her in the worst way. She now is stuck in Braidwood and can’t leave without causing more harm. Even if she gets hurt in the process.

I still absolutely love the connection between these 4. Best friends from birth and they are once again there for each other no matter their fights going on. Like the scene in the bathroom with Eli and Kat, yep melted my heart. It’s proof that they may act like they are holding g a grudge, but when push comes to shove, Kat means the world to them, and they would burn it down to get her in the end.

Well maybe not burn it down but they definitely made connections (Suncrest Bay anyone?) and took out the key players to make their rise above all work. I love how Kat still maintains her feistiness despite the secretive nature they had to keep their relationships under only made them that much hotter.

West, River and Elias are her rocks, but also each others. This is a beautifully written RH where you can tell ALL the group has a connection. There may be no MM, but they definitely don’t disappoint.

Highly recommend the entire series which is now complete!

3.5 but rounding down.

I was underwhelmed by this final book. It wasn’t bad, and I didn’t hate reading it, but it just seemed to drag even though there was nonstop action.

The climax (of the plot, get your minds out of the gutter!) was a bit unbelievable, mostly because it was so out there I couldn’t take it seriously. This whole book was like a rated R soap opera complete with sex and violence. And of course there’s a HEA that, as usual, gets wrapped up in a pretty bow and everything is peachy. Sometimes I like that, sometimes it just feels so unreal I can’t even suspend my belief. This book was kind of in between.

Speaking of sex, I once again skimmed most of the sex scenes. To me, they were long and repetitive, like most sex scenes in books like this. That is just a me thing, I’m sure, because I can only read so much of that before it gets boring.

It was nice to finally find out what everyone majored in, though.

I’m glad I finished the series, but I’ll be honest…. This book was my least favourite.

Heirs of Braidwood has been a whirlwind! I freaking love Kat, River, Eli, and West. Their lives have been intertwined since they were kids and the guys would do whatever it takes to protect Kat. There was some trust lost that needed to be regained and once they went full transparency, it was all arrows pointing to freeing themselves.

There were a lot of aspects of this book that I was trying to figure out how they were going to be resolved (no spoilers), but they were all handled perfectly. Especially one person who drew the line in the sand and stood up to who they needed to. This is all pretty vague because the way that Kay writes and reveals her storylines, should be experienced that way.

I loved all the little cameos we saw, well not little, but I don't want to spoil how they mesh into it. Anyway, this is a college age, blueblood society type story and I absolutely loved all of it and didn't want to say goodbye.

What a great conclusion for Kat and her men!! I was so glad to see everything get tied up and for certain people to meet their maker!! I couldn’t put this down once I started. Kay Riley does such a wonderful job of building these characters and the stories that surround them. And the spice is chefs kiss!! Just enough to keep you very invested in the story but it is the plot that always keeps me hooked. She is such a great storyteller!!

Being a huge fan of the Suncrest series I was over the moon giddy when Vee and Ky made their appearance!! Damn how I miss them so it was nice to see them and the rest of the Suncrest crew for a bit in this story! I love how it was all tied together and I can’t wait to see them all pop up again in whatever Kay does next because it will be just as awesome as everything she has done so far!!

The end to the series I never knew I needed!! Man I have loved getting to know these characters and I am so sad to see the series end but I cannot wait to see what Kay Riley has up her sleeves next!! I absolutely loved how the series ended and loved to see the growth in the characters throughout the way! There was also a cameo from characters from her Suncrest series, which I haven’t read yet, but definitely adding those books to my TBR!! I loved the fast action in this book and loved how karma got its way. Don’t want to say too much so there aren’t any spoilers. But oh my gosh! If you love a fast paced action book, with lots of spicy scenes, a why choose relationship, and trying to figure out how things will end for the characters, you are going to love this book!!

**there are some TW for this book so make sure to look them up before reading!

This is my review for the entire series, as they were each short enough books that I read them back-to-back.

As someone who doesn't read dark romance, but loves a good "why choose" book when she is in a reading slump, I decided to give these a go. While there are dark elements to this series and there is an underlying plot that spans all three books, this book was more character-driven for me.

This series focuses on a childhood group of friends whose families rule the town of Braidwood. While 2 of them stay behind, the other 2 find themselves back in the town after being away for years...and they are not welcomed with open arms by the friends they left behind.

While Kat, West, Eli, and River have years of broken trust to rebuild..their friendship and desire get out from under their families' activities is stronger.

The boys found out Kat was going to leave town and stopped her. She is beyond furious with them but they are hurt. Can they forgive her?
This was another incredible plot. I am honestly impressed with the attention to detail that Riley gives each plot point. The whole addition of Callum to the story was stressful and frustrating. I kept getting so anxious when their parents were taking them and cornering them all the time. The ending was fantastic and shows how intelligent Kat was in her plans early on in the book. I love that we get a happily ever after for these characters. The deserve it.
I really like how Bri came through for Kat several different times this book. She is an amazing friend.
The spicy scenes were kind of off the hook in this book.

another book, another banger

I dragged out finishing this book because I honestly didn’t want it to end. I swear Kay laces her writing with something because each book has been mind blowing in its own right and has me finding new things about her writing that I’m obsessed with.

With this series being her first Why Choose, you wouldn’t know it going into it. The way she manages to write the balance between Kat and each of her men is great. You really get the sense that her love for each one is equal to the other two, just as theirs is for her.

And then to top it off, having the Suncrest group pop back in and seeing Vee and Kat girlboss, gaslight, and gatekeep together is just 10/10

Opening the pages of this book you are brought right back to where things were left off in book 2. This book had my heart racing to see what was going to happen. I knew they would find a way through it all but how, and at what cost. Seeing how Kat is trying to protect all of the people she loves, even when it is coming as a huge cost to herself was something truly special in this book. I love how the boys are all rallying around her and finding their own ways to protect her too. This book brings a level of heart to the pages that was only beginning to show through before. This was a perfect ending to the story of these Heirs.

fast paced

Wow this book was intense and thrilling. It had my heart racing every time William and Richard came after Kat. But every time Elias, River, and Wes were always there doing everything to save her. I absolutely loved the four of them together. Their love for each other is what made them so strong. With everything they went through is this series I was happy to see them come out on top and finally find their happiness. Also a bonus in this book is you get to see Vanessa, Ky, Ryker, and Zak from the Suncrest Bay series.

What an ending to a great series!

I recommend this series to anyone and everyone who will listen. Kay has a way with words and making you feel everythingggg! Love, hatred, worry, 🔥, all the feels. The ending was perfect, I wasn’t sure how everything was going to play out but I’m very happy with it. Endings can really make or break a series. I have grown so attached to these characters and I’m sad for the series to be done, but fingers crossed for crossovers in other series and I look forward to future reads from Kay Riley.

It's always sad to say goodbye to a series because I'm greedy and want to keep reading more about their lives. Kat and her guys have grown and learned that together they are stronger, and they know what they want and who they are and work together to keep their loved ones safe and happy.

This series has taught us about the power of love and friendship. About being true to ourselves and acceptance. I love how the author brought the family together and how they did what was needed to find happiness.

I loved that we got to see some of our favorite characters from the author's other series, and they made this series so much more special.

I absolutely loved the Heirs of Braidwood series and this book was such a perfect ending! I’m really sad this is the last book, but everything was tied up so well.
It picks up right where book 2 left off and throughout the book we see the relationship growth between the four main characters.
I also loved reading Kay’s Suncrest Bay series and was so excited to read about them again in this book.
The whole series was great, and can’t wait to see what the author brings out next.

Another amazing conclusion to a fantastic series. I am so freaking sad to see these characters go but what a way to send them off and have them get their HEA. This was one wild and crazy from the very first book to the very last page of the third book. Our girl and her men are just everything and the way each of them love her is something fierce and undeniable. Phenomenal ending and I cant wait for what this author brings to us next..

Another amazing read by Kay!

We’re back with Kat, River, West, and Eli picking up right where book 2 left off. So many emotions in this story. ThE parents trying to control everything and everyone. Kat trying to protect everyone and the boys staying by her side and fighting with her.

Sorry the end is here for these 4 but excited to see what Kay comes up with next.

I’m sad this book has ended I’ve loved the relationship between the 4 of them and was hoping they could get it together and overcome the dads. Glad they managed to in the end while keeping everyone safe.

Loved the group scenes. Also loved other characters from other books making an appearance.

Well done Kay Riley another brilliant book can’t wait to see what you do next.

Fantastic ending to a series that deserves to be read by a greater audience! I've never been happier to read an unaliving scene as I was in this book, but boy do they have to fight to the end to get their shot at a hea! No one pulls any punches in this book. Brilliant!

Must read!

Normally I don't stray too far out of my normal genre of paranormal romance, but holy hell, I am so glad I took the chance on this series! I immediately fell in love with Kat and her feisty take no shit attitude! This series kept me on the edge of my feet the entire ride. It has been a while since I lost myself in a book (finished the series in 2 days!).

I have been SO looking forward to this one. The depth of the twistiness in this series is just mind blowing. I wish more people would pick up this author so they could be blown away at the intricacy of her storylines and how they all intertwine and include past books. 100% check your triggers because Riley does delve into some of the darker moments. What we get with Kat and her men is intrigue, lies, twists and ALL the spicy steam that will have you fanning yourself. Things are exposed, truths are told and seeing is all play out was perfection. This series as a whole was amazing from start to finish. Hands down, it is time to binge!
