Daphne Rideau pays attention to detail. It’s the reason her equine boarding facility, Flying R Ranch, runs so smoothly.
So it’s completely out of character when she fails to read the fine print on a new client inquiry. She assumes the gooseneck trailer pulling up to her property is filled with horses.
Not reindeer.
Hudson Parker is new to town, but he isn’t new to veterinary medicine. When he gets a late night call to check in on a sick animal, he prepares for an equine emergency, not for an animal he has only seen in Christmas folklore.
Why the reindeer are here is a mystery, as are the feelings he develops for the surly cowgirl. Daphne wants the reindeer gone, and she’s equally unwelcoming toward Hudson.
But there’s more to Daphne’s story, and Hudson’s curiosity is piqued. And when a message appears with clues to the animals’ origins, they must work together to solve this particular reindeer game.
Daphne and Hudson. Cute story, but the writing was so very abrupt and stuff, and it was not enjoyable to read. Hudson is in town to with in the Vet hospital for his college friend over the holidays. He did not believe in Santa abs the whole holiday magic. Daphne owns a ranch where 8 reindeer are mistakenly dropped off to board there. A the story progresses, Hudson learns of Christmas magic and Daphne learns to let go and relax. Love flourishes.
Another holiday romance winner from Megan Squires. Megan's yearly Christmas releases have become a tradition for me the last few years and one I never miss. This year's release was adorable. Hudson was loveable and a perfect romantic hero for the story. I loved the reindeer and the storyline with them was super fun. This was a perfect holiday romance. Don't miss this one!
I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Wow. Two words describe this book...Christmas Magic. It was awesome and everything a Christmas story should be. The characters come to life so much you feel their emotions. Megan is a masterful storyteller. If your don't believe or are lacking Christmas spirit, you will find it reading this book. Thank you Megan and keep the stories coming.

Christmas time means it’s Megan Squires season!! Once again I absolutely loved the hallmark style Christmas story that Megan paints! Absolutely read this book!
I love Christmas books. I will read them year-round and don't care what people say. When I first saw this book and started reading about how seriously they take the Christmas season? Yes, please!
I was so glad that there wasn't an ex-partner or someone who wants to be a partner trying to interfere, but their own insecurities and baggage that they brought to the table that they needed to work through.
What started off as an accidental meeting, literally, between Daphne and Hudson and their journey from strangers to friends to new romance had me flipping the "pages" on my Kindle Fire almost faster than I could read.
The addition of Daphne's half-sister, Lila, coming to visit after 15 or so years along with her precocious 12 year old daughter, Sophie, was just the right touch to balance everything out.
It wasn't hard to cheer on Hudson. His love for animals and all-in attitude when faced with a pregnant reindeer, and five others who are stubborn as can be was admirable.
Daphne's well structured life and no-nonsense approach appealed to the organizer in me. Although she didn't really care for surprises, such as 8 reindeer, she handled everything with grace.
We can't forget the animals, though! Between the surprise reindeer, Dusty the teensy baby kitten, Starlight the horse, and Rudy the trainable goat who falls desperately in love with Starlight you have the makings of an even more swoonworthy book....who can resist animals?!
Can't forget to add the other cast of characters! Nathan, Hudson's longtime friend whose vet practice he's working at while Nathan is off meeting his girlfriend's family, Lottie the bartender, Thomas the candymaker, the elf baristas at the coffee shop, and Dottie, who runs the tailor shop.
I hope Ms. Squires revisits Alpine Valley again in one of her Christmas novels. If ever there was a town that goes all in for the Christmas season, This quaint town makes me want to visit over and over and over again.
DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC of Christmas at Reindeer Ranch via Booksprout. All opinions are my own and do not reflect on my receiving an advance copy for review.
Heart-warmingly sweet and full of festive romance.
It’s the time of year to put on big fluffy socks, curl up in front of a roaring fire with a cup of tea and mince-pie to enjoy a festive themed book or two. Christmas romances always banish away the darker hours of this time of year and fill the time with festive cheer. It’s not quite Christmas anymore without a good heart-warming story. I’ve found one of this year’s contenders for best festive romance in Christmas at Reindeer Ranch. The plot is unique, packed with Christmas vibes and engaging - drawing me into keep the page turning as the only thing I could guess was the Happy Ending - because all good romances have to have a HEA.
Written in two points of view from the main couple, Daphne and Hudson. They are endearing characters who are beautifully crafted. I absolutely loved Hudson personality and he’s a treasure you want to find and take home to meet your family. Cute, clumsy perfect gentleman with a sense of humour and loves animals. If only they made more like him in real life. Not to mention, he’s willing to muck in on an unusual Christmas caper with a herd of reindeer. Daphne’s a determined heroine, who made me laugh and cringe - but she has a dynamic personality shaped by the hand life has dealt her. Her toughness is perfectly mirrored in Hudson’s gentleness - perfectly matched to counter each other’s strengths and weaknesses in the story.
A sweet, clean and heart-warming tale for the Christmas season.
When a mixup leads Daphne to become caregiver to eight reindeer instead of horses on her Alpine Valley ranch, is both shocked and dismayed. What does she know about reindeer? She calls in a veterinarian to check out one of the female reindeer which she believes is pregnant. When the irritating man that hit her car in town shows up, Daphne is certain her luck has turned bad. Hudson is in town to help out at the veterinary clinic while his best friend, another veterinarian, is out of town for the holidays. Hudson never expected to literally run into someone on his first day, or to be called on to examine eight reindeer. He is stunned to see the reindeer and also Daphne, the owner of the truck he hit. Hudson and Daphne get through their bout of awkwardness quickly and discover that not only do the reindeer have the names of Santa’s reindeer, the three females are pregnant. Hudson volunteers to help her look after and train the reindeer as per the email she received. Neither expects that the time spent together will be bring love, healing and the magic of Christmas into their lives.
This book gives readers a charming and sweet romance with a dash of Christmas magic. The characters are fascinating and very relatable, and their story is entertaining and captivating. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Christmas At Reindeer Ranch is a good book for Christmas or any day! Daphne is mistakenly thought to be Flying Reindeer Ranch that trains reindeer to be used in shows. So with the email she received that she wouldn't be paid until she trained the reindeer to come on command, she worked at training them with Hudson, the fill in Vet for the holiday season. His raising did not include the love for Santa but Alpine Valley sure can give the Christmas spirit to anyone.
When Daphne was given a picture of her mother dressed like Mrs. Claus and sitting in a sleigh she recognized the shed behind her house and sure enough there was the original sleigh Alpine Valley used prior to the Clydesdale horses being used with a carriage. Hudson helped Daphne to get the sleigh and reindeer to work together when he had on his Santa's suit. When Daphne put on her mother's costume they followed each of her orders as they were trained. The problem was the company that brought the reindeer to have them trained went bankrupt and never came back to get the animals. So Hudson and Daphne start a business on the weekend of dressing up as Santa and Mrs. Claus and have pictures with Santa, refreshments and sleigh rides. What better way to celebrate their love now for Christmas and each other!
I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. I give it 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.
Daphne owns Flying R Ranch, an equine boarding facility. She is a fan of animals, not humans. Daphne who is very scrupulous attention to detail, somehow missed the small print in the new contract she signed with the new client. She doesn't figure this out until the trailer arrived and instead of horses getting unloaded, REINDEER comes off the trailer. She tries to get the unloader to reload them. When he explains to her she signed the contract and it's states it right in the contract, that these were reindeers not horses. How could she miss this in the contract? How can she get out of the contract? What is she going to do with reindeers? During one of the nights, one of the reindeer gets sick, so she is force to call up the local veterinary to come out. The last person she wants out there, she likes being without human contact, animals are safer. Hudson was use to working with a vary of animals, but the last time he expected to come across were real live Reindeer. He was full of so many questions about how they came to be, but Daphne wasn't answering. Over the course of the reindeer being there Hudson and Daphne gets close. Will Hudson melt her heart?.

A magical Christmas story involving reindeer, romance and all manners of fun
Christmas at Reindeer Ranch is a first read for me of author Megan Squires. As I read her brief bio, I realized she was a fellow California girl. When I read her book I realized she was a rarity in this world, a kindred spirit. Her writing inspires my own creativity. Megan puts her soul into her writing. As a reader you connect to her characters , the ranch, even the animals as though they are real. Her artristy started as a photographer, now she translates that eye for magic and beauty into words. Megan's words are a picture window into the world full off the spirit of Christmas. Like an old Christmas movie, you are filled with love, laughter and a few tears, as you experience Christmas at Reindeer Ranch.
This is a sweet romance filled with humor, fun and even a little mystery. The two main characters are well-developed and once again prove that opposites attract. And the best happily ever after ending is that in discovering soul deep love the two lovers find the true meaning of Christmas. Oh be still my beating heart!
The perfect sweet Christmas story for Daphne and Hudson. A meet cute turned an unavoidable situation into a friendship into something magical. This story pulls at your childhood memories of Christmas and the special times with family and community. Alpine Village really takes the holiday to the next level with themed holiday houses, a huge parade and lavish decorations for business windows. Daphne is as strong as they come and very independent until Hudson just won’t leave her side. As the temporary veterinarian, filling in for his friend Nathan, he feels a little responsible for the new animals in her care. Hudson enjoys Daphne’s company, however she’s used to being alone and takes a bit of nudging to allow the friendship. It’s a very slow friendship but it was important not to rush into something that would last. Squires is very talented writing a story for romance lovers young and old, and Christmas seems to be a specialty. I was lucky to read an early copy and have voluntarily written my review.
This book is festive and very Christmassy and makes me crave candy canes and eggnog, but it was so over the top that it distracted from the story. The MMC even had Christmas-themed inner dialogue even though he was disenchanted with "Christmas magic" (I.e. "his gut twisted like a peppermint candy"). The FMC came across flat and very one-dimensional to me. She had little to no emotion and wasn't likeable at all imo. She was meant to be in her thirties (I think) but read like she was twice that and her organization/rigid lifestyle on her ranch was used as a fault that felt forced. There is more chemistry in middle school gym class than between the two leads in this book. It reads a little like a slow burn romance, but it never gets anywhere and is basically two lonely people who disagree on if Christmas magic is real and get past this monumentous issue by MMC dressing up as Santa and FMC finding a sleigh in her barn. Don't get me wrong, I like a sweet love story of the Christmas variety (with or without spice), but this felt like a Wish version of a bad Hallmark made-for-tv special.

Hudson Parker, a veterinarian new to town, is filling in for his friend. He doesn’t really have any Christmas spirit, but hopefully that can be fixed. Alpine Valley, on the other hand, is the epitome of love and the Christmas spirit. Daphne Rideau will try to hold onto her Christmas spirit this time when she sees the surprise pulling up to her barn at the Flying R Ranch. She had missed reading the part in the contract that talks about the eight reindeer that will be delivered to her horse facility to be cared for and trained. Fortunately Hudson offers to help her train them. We meet many adorable animals. But will his dislike of Christmas cause a rift with Daphne? Or can she and the animals fill his heart with all the good things about Christmas? It’s the best season ever to find a HEA!
I won’t tell you about the amazing ending because this is something you will definitely not want to miss! Grab your copy and get in the spirit!
Daphne and Hudson meet as he replaces his best friend and local veterinarian over December, going from Arizona to Alpine Valley in the northern California Sierra mountains. Daphne was raised by her mom, who she lost to cancer three years ago at Christmas. The visitors at her ranch are her half-sister and niece, who have not been together since they were very young. Loved the characters and how they grown and change through entertaining situations and events. So many cool animals, from reindeer to Rudy the goat and Dusty the wonder kitten. Totally enjoyed the romance, with a few roadblocks to slow things down, but it all culminates in a terrific ending of Santa suits and candy canes. Well done surprises and twists.

Daphne owns a ranch and loses her boarder. She needs to get a new boarder immediately so she doesn’t lose it. She finds new boarders for her barn, but they are not what she expected. Hudson is a veterinarian who is covering for his friend while his friend is on vacation. Unfortunately, though the town loves Christmas, Hudson does not believe in Christmas magic.
Hudson helps Daphne with her boarders. They start falling in love and maybe, just maybe, Daphne and the town can convince Hudson to believe in Christmas magic.
This was a sweet Christmas story with adorable characters. If you love Christmas and romance, this story is for you. I loved the characters and story line. You won’t regret reading this book.

Hudson doesn’t care much Christmas, but after talking about the lack of celebration in his house growing up I can see why. The town of Alpine Valley is filled with Christmas spirit and soon Daphne’s barn is too when she gets a delivery of eight reindeer to care and train. She wasn’t sure about keeping them until Hudson convinces her to train them together. I loved how he taught the goat Rudy tricks and cared for the abandoned kitten. But his lack of Christmas spirt drives a wedge between them. Will he realizes the magic to be found if you embrace it before it’s too late? The whole town seemed magical from the handmade candy maker, to the coffee shop, and the seamstress. I wish it was a real place so I could visit it. This was a sweet Christmas romance.
Daphne owns an equine boarding facility, but her new client didn’t send her horses but reindeer, eight of them, and she is supposed to train them. Hudson is standing in for his friend who is also a vet. He is not used to Christmas as he never had them when he was a child, and he doesn’t believe in Santa. Great characters, not only the humans but also the animals. One of my favourite scenes was the one when they cut the Christmas tree, and my favourite sentence was that chocolate is God's apology for broccoli. I just loved it. A story about Christmas magic. The perfect Christmas read that will have you believing in the magic of Christmas. Christmas at Reindeer Ranch was a charming, small town book with such wonderful characters. I loved the way the story kept me reading and smiling with all the feels of the Christmas season. Reindeer, candy canes, hot cocoa, snow - this story has it all. At the heart of the book is a story of opening your heart to believe - believe in the magic, and believe in love.
Thank you to the publisher for and advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
This was an adorable story. I loved the characters as well as the animal side characters. I finished this book with a smile on my face.
Daphne and Hudson meet under less than ideal circumstances - a fender bender. Daphne owns a equine stable and Hudson is a veteranarian filling in for his friend who is on vacation.
When Daphne's new boarders turn out to be reindeer with very Christmasy names, she enlists Hudson's help, especially now that she must train them before she gets paid...

Great story about reindeer, a kitten, and dreams of love all bringing the magic of Christmas to the pages. Hudson is filling in for his friend, Nathan, at the Alpine Valley Veterinary Clinic. A fender bender introduces him to Daphne, a lovely and filled with Christmas magic Daphne. A delivery of eight reindeer to Daphne’s ranch brings Hudson to help care for them. You will love their encounters as love begins to fall like snowflakes. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hudson was a charmer from the minute he appeared. Daphne took a good 2 chapters for me to warm up to. A practically perfect holiday romance with reindeer, kittens, a acrobatic goat, and seasonal magic.
Great descriptions of mountain winter weather, small town Christmas celebrations, and the fanciful 12 Days of Christmas coffees.
Everything came together in sigh worthy soul satisfying fashion. I would love to see Lila and Sophie have their story told as well.

A sweet romance with all things Christmas complete with reindeer. It's a festive and fun storyline with some twists and turns I wasn't expecting. The slow burn romance between Daphne and Hudson was wonderful and entertaining. I also loved the animals and how they are cared for. This is the perfect holiday read.

I really enjoyed the story. Its a great holiday read. I just love the reindeer and all the miscellaneous animals that make the story fun. The one part of the story I would change is the interaction with the father. I would have liked him to apologize or something. Didn't see much need for meeting in person and not have that happen or even a reconnection. All in all a good fun story.
Daphne had a wonderful relationship with her late mother and grew into a strong, positive woman who believed in the magic of Christmas. Hudson was the only child of older, self-involved parents who had never experienced the joys of Christmas. But he was a kind, caring person who recognized that Daphne was beautiful inside and out. Their story and how the relationship developed was very special and the ending was perfect!
A Christmas story needs a few things to make it special, Santa, a Christmas tree and children. This story has all that and romance, reindeer and a ranch that makes Christmas special for both children and adults. I enjoyed the characters because they all helped Hudson find his Christmas spirit and the love of his life, Daphne.
What a wonderful Christmas story! This book brings back the special feelings that only happen at Christmas. I loved everything about this book: the setting, the characters (human and animal), and how the author brings the story to life with her words. This is a book you don't want to miss.

Daphne Rideau, Hudson Parker and the eight reindeer that were delivered to Daphne's horse ranch for boarding by mistake. A sweet well written story of two people who have to move on from the past to get their happy ending. I enjoyed seeing this story come together.
