Rate this book
Two stories, worlds apart, yet somehow connected. On the backward world of Galat, an inconsequential planet, a young pregnant woman flees for her life. An ancient prophecy predicts the downfall of regimes with the birth of her child. The world is barely past the stone age, yet the child's birth will be felt across the galaxy. On Juranta, a more advanced world, a former covert ops agent marries an accountant and daughter of two engineering geniuses. Months later, Tristan and Jessica's child is born-the child also heralded by the ancient prophecy-a prophecy his family has been forbidden to speak of. A mysterious figure schemes to thwart the prophecies. Jessica's brother, the future admiral, Robert Deacons, witnesses the birth of the Galatan baby, and saves the lives of the infant and his mother. He suspects the child belongs to the enemy of his childhood, but he refuses to harm an innocent child. His gut tells him his enemy has already won, even if the battle hasn't started. Robert returns to meet his newborn nephew, David Liam Alexander, a future Commonwealth captain. How are the two infants connected? What secrets bind them together? Come find out.

It took me far, far too long to gets my hands on this book and get started, but it was absolutely worth the wait. Like the rest of the series before (after? it is a prequel after all) it, this book does an amazing job of intertwining Christian themes and stories with an exciting and riveting plot. I loved the way the two stories were presented and came together, and the alternating POV had me reading this book faster than any other one in the series. As this is a prequel, it does an excellent job setting up things that happen in the rest of the series, foreshadowing for those who may have picked this one up first and payoff for those who have read the series as it currently stands. Along the same line, this could definitely be read as one's intro to the series or after one has read more of the series. Excited to see what's next!!
