Rate this book
Bounty Hunter, Mercenary, Bodyguard, Enforcer…

You know you can’t go wrong with a Human for Hire.

Collateral Damage Included … and Guaranteed!

Staging a coup on a cesspool of a planet can be a dangerous affair. However, when The Human is betrayed by none other than his own client, he and the rest of his team are left running for their lives, pursued by killer robots and with no way off the planet. And that’s just the beginning of the story…

Welcome to the world of Adam Cain, The Human , the closest thing to a superman in the galaxy. As the most famous employee of Starfire Security, The Human is in popular demand. But he has to be careful that his past doesn’t catch up to him. You can’t go around kicking alien butt without ruffling a few feathers … or scales … or whatever the alien du jour happens to have for skin. And when Adam later teams up with another famous bounty hunter, things really begin to go south. Revenge, betrayal and pay-back become the keywords in this latest rip-roaring adventure by sci-fi author T.R. Harris.

The story continues … After the galaxy was savagely attacked by invaders, the Milky Way was left but a shadow of its former self. Gone are the vast empires that once brought stability, law and order to countless star systems. In its wake, a savage, almost Wild West existence emerged, ruled by gun and muscle. And for anyone needing help with either gun or muscle—or both—everyone knows you … Hire a Human.

Human for Hire is the new series by veteran science fiction author T.R. Harris, the creator of The Human Chronicles Saga and the REV Warriors Series , perennial favorites on Amazon for over 11 years. Filled with non-stop action, side-splitting pop-culture references, and a menagerie of exotic characters, Human For Hire is the next great series in science fiction today.

Much Less than Expected

The first book was fun and an entertaining read. This second book fails to live up to its promise, unfortunately. The character development is solid, and there is enough action to keep the storyline moving. The sad part is the science tech and a lack of any standards. I lost interest when the story got to the theft of he credit chips. Supposedly, the case weighed “almost 200 pounds” and Adam had trouble lifting it. The credit chips were plastic, and there would have been 500 (@20k each) in that case of 10 million credits. That would be slightly over 6 ounces each. My credit cards average 0.2 ounces each, my cell phone is 6.6 ounces. The logistics were off enough to push me out of the narrative. And then the whole “everything burns down and nothing survives” was as unbelievable as the concept that such an advanced society would be using physical representations of money which can be so easily destroyed.

I’m at a quandary whether to continue the series. The characters oft make a storyline interesting, and that’s true here, but the disconnect with science and technology in the rest of the book is disconcerting at best.

Two losses in one

Adam comes back from an advisory mission to support a revolution. Because of a little backstabbing, and unseen factors, he ends up getting away with only his life. There's a loss of a fee that doesn't sit well with his boss. To make up for the loss, he agrees to take on a high bounty recovery action. Well nothing is as it appears, but Adam finds another female to dally with. The Casper ends up with his owing money, but as he's licking his wounds, another opportunity drops in his lap, and let's hope he makes money off of this one. I guess one adventure was too little to make a book so we get two adventures for the price of one. I'm surprised that contrary to the early Cain adventures, Adam is having strength problems with aliens. They actually get in a few blind sided punches that leave Adam dazed and out of it. We're no longer breaking bones and crunching skulls with one blow. Nevertheless, Adam is still the meanest animal in the galaxy, and is still able to get out of tough spots.

Adam Cain is The Human, unique among the bounty hunters because of Earth's high gravity, he is stronger, tougher, faster than most, and he loves his work. Or did, anyway. His latest catch didn't turn out well. In fact it was really unpleasant until he met his opponent, another human - a female. Another bounty hunter, Ninja Morrison (name unverified), cute, well proportioned, and slippery. Circumstances brought them together, bad decisions forced their hands, lost their bounty and loot. But they have a plan working together, looking for payback! Two humans in one grift - too many.
The characters are amazing! The storyline continues to throw me for loops, but I love it! I'm going to have to keep up with the Human for Hire!
This is a great, entertaining read!

Another great Adam Cain adventure. Was nice to meet the red headed female Ninja. I like this revised format TR is now using. Just a good ole western shoot ‘em up in space. As usual TR has many tricks and plot twists. I can never guess them in advance. I love the ending of this book with old friends showing up outlining a new caper. Book 3 should be another great story from the imagination of TR Harris. Can’t wait. Good to see Jay is still living.

Human with an attitude does it again.

After surviving a double cross on an op, Adam gets revenge. And gets double crossed again. He needs to relearn not to be so trusting of others in the future.

Great Read.

Plenty of action and a lot of people not being who they say they are your friends. Not to be a spoiler but once again Adam looses his ship but meets a new friend. Give it a try you will love it.

Major OP character problems.

The fact that the MC can heal from pretty much anything has made him sloppy and indifferent. For a series based on a legendary figure from a superhero race this just comes off as lazy. It is trying to be humorous but is not at all funny.

Solid

A fine follow up to book one. An enjoyable caper for The Human. The plot was simple and moved along quickly, good fun.

not my cup of Ted

Kind of a haphazard cross between a Clancy novel and a smattering of Space Cowboy. Sorry but that’s my opinion
