Silas Barlow, Zoey’s step-uncle, reluctantly agrees to help. It’s quickly apparent that Zoey is nothing like her flighty mother or her immature stepfather. Before he knows it, he’s enjoying her company. Combined with her constant proximity and Silas is holding onto his morals by a very thin line.

At this point I don’t think these two could do anything wrong. I absolutely LOVED this. Super fun, sexy & just a great freaking time. If you like tab00 romances then check this one out! Tate & Rory always kill the tab00 romances. This was such a sexy fun quick read that will give you all the goods. Absolutely loved it! I can’t rec these two authors enough because I just love their writing so much.

I actually struggled to finish this book, i mean it wasn’t really bad but it also wasn’t really good either.
I liked the concept but to me everything was a bit too messy, like a lot happened but at the same time nothing happened haha.
The characters the dynamic between them was okay, some of their dialogues were a bit cringe because it just wasn’t really fitting. And I do have to say the side characters like zoeys mom and her husband annoyed me so much.

This surprise little ARC drop had me instantly intrigued and I ate it up. You aren't going to find deep intricate plot but you will find delicious taboø smut served up by a smart mouthed sassy FMC and her possessive br33ding knk step-uncle.
Zoey has split with her boyfriend only to find her Mum has sold their house and the only family available to help her is her step-uncle, Silas. The angst and the sexual tension is thick and the age gap and familial tie adds that extra naughtiness that I love. Silas becomes jealous and possessive of Zoey and she quickly notices, guesses his motive behind it and pushes his buttons until finally he gives in and gives it all to her. The spice and dirty talk got me a little feral ngl. These baddies know how to write good smut.
I don't always enjoy how fast relationships move within novellas and they can often feel unbelievable but with Silas and Zoey I bought it. There was an appropriate amount of hesitation and self restraint that the pacing and development it felt right for Silas and Zoey's story.
There is still *some* plot within this story however I do also feel like it sort of tailed off towards the end. I would have liked a final showdown of sorts with you-know-who and see that be tied up a little better. Melinda and Ted also had me *howling* at how utterly ridiculous they were. In the afterword Tate + Rory tell us they were trying to flex some comedy muscles with them and it worked. We all know people like Mel + Ted and they were a dumb and fun addition to the story.

I really enjoyed this book! It was spicy and hot 🥵 I absolutely loved the jealousy scenes added with a breeding kink! Definitely recommend if you love age gap and step uncle/niece.

Our Illicit Desires is the newest addition to the Banned Baddies oeuvre, and it’s the sweet and spicy story of Zoey and Silas, a couple who shouldn’t be, but are oh so good together. As expected, this was another fantastic, quick read from Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe that had me hooked from the very start. We get delicious tension that transforms into an inferno of desire, and I was there for ALL OF IT.
Zoey seems to always be surrounded by incompetent people, sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of others’. Homeless, penniless, and angry, she finds herself on her step-uncle’s doorstep hoping to get back on her feet. Grumpy Uncle Silas hides behind his cloudy demeanor to distance himself from a woman he shouldn’t want, but can no longer deny. OOT, possessive, and willing to threaten bodily harm on anyone who would hurt his Siren, a smoldering romance blossoms between the two. It’s *chef’s kiss*.
The story itself is definitely character-centric, where the leading duo and their evolution are the plot. At its core it’s about living for yourself, and not for others – something both learn in spades. Silas is always there to stand by Zoey’s side in the face of hardship, while Zoey opens Silas’ eyes to help him realize there’s more to life than work. The delicate balance they create with each other is incredible.
We're used to quippy and bratty one-liners from the Baddies, but we see them infuse a bit more comedy into their writing here to approach heavy topics in lighthearted ways. Overbearing, needy parents that can’t comprehend the concept of boundaries? Check. Mel and Ted are ABSURD, and the authors let you know so. I appreciated the way they handled these instances.
I went into this one blind, and I’m so glad I did so. I don’t even read the blurbs any more – as soon as one of theirs hits my Kindle, it’s getting read. I’ve become accustomed to the Baddies’ MMCs having unhinged streaks, so it was refreshing to see something a bit lighter from them. I had a lot of fun with this one, and I’m excited to see what they come up with next. Loved it.

This was my first Tate Monroe or Rory Ireland so maybe these are just the vibes, but this was entertainingly ridiculous. 😂
Zoey's parents and ex-boyfriend and the community gate guard were absolutely deranged and detached from reality, which was kind of over-the-top and annoying? But also hilarious?
Anyway, I guess all I gotta say is... some dirty talking, taboo, heavy breeding kink 4 u. 🥵🥵🥵
But on a more serious note, I actually loved that Zooey didn't just bow to Silas. Despite the 18 year age gap and how much Zooey loved having someone who cared enough to care for her and the possessive alphahole that Silas is, she was totally independent and sassy and headstrong even in opposition to Silas more often than not.

Oh man I can’t even tell you how much I love Silas, his mouth, his dirty talk, his everything and Zoey these two together are straight up fire like no other!! Zoey and her bratty self always getting under Silas’s skin I freaking love it!! This is one of those must reads because 1. They are so freaking hot 2. The spice will have you panting for more & 3. These two amazing authors wrote it and it’s that freaking bomb!!! Get it now!

Our Illicit Desires by Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe is a forbidden age gap romance.
I absolutely love Rory and Tate's books! I can't help but devour their books in one sitting. I really enjoyed the relationship between Silas and Zoey. It is a bit messy, but you can't help but root for them. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I would recommend this book if you're looking for a quick steamy read. The book includes a forbidden romance, age gap, and a possessive alpha male with a breeding kink.

This book was weird. It just didn’t really fit with the rest of these authors books. It wasn’t bad, just very different…..
-Hero was NOT a murdering psychopath, just a rich and very grouchy OCD businessman.
-Hero is NOT over-the-top obsessed with FMC, and just seems annoyed with her the entire time.
-The climax of the story felt like an episode of National Lampoon, not a serious romance.
Overall, just not my favorite- but part of that is the high expectations I now have for these amazing authors, that can write a 🔥🔥🔥taboo love story like no one else❤️❤️❤️

1st person/dual pov
Spice: 5/5
Plot: This is one of those books that has a storyline but it pretty much focuses on the relationship between the two MCs. So the majority of the plot is the spice. For me that works because sometimes I just want a spicy book that I don't have to think about the storyline very much or will not emotionally damage me lol. This book checks those boxes.
Zoey has left her loser of an ex and needs a place to stay after coming home to find out her mom and stepdad sold the home she grew up in to travel the country in an RV. This has her shacking up at her "step uncle's" house until she can get a place of her own. Let the sexual tension begin.
Characters: SILAS!! I love the way Rory and Tate write their men in these books. They have zero shame and are always some level of unhinged. Silas to me is one of their more secretly unhinged characters but it absolutely works for him. He has a short fuse and high expectations yet remains calm and collected even if he's verbally whipping someone for being a poor excuse for a human haha. At first, you'd think he's just an uptight rich guy but let something or someone he feels belongs to him be threatened and that psycho slips out. The threats he's made in the name of protecting what's his had me drooling! I don't even care what that says about me that I loved it so much as long as Silas keeps doing it haha!
Zoey reminds me of myself in a lot of ways. She's very trusting, sometimes too trusting, and would rather handle something herself even if it's not the best course of action than ask for anyone's help. The last thing she wants is to be seen as a child or immature but isn't going to waste her time trying to argue that she isn't with anyone. She will either act that way out of spite or set out to prove you wrong. But no matter where her confidence level falls in the moment she's not going to let someone push her around or talk down to her without biting back. Her sassy attitude gave me life! So when it comes to Silas she is always giving him hell which drives him mad as much as he also loves it lol! I loved seeing their personalities clash one moment and then pair together perfectly the next.
Spice:
My lord this man and his kinks! I'm so glad we got more of this story because that means more filthy Silas! The thoughts that run through his head and the words that come out of his mouth had me WEAK! I'd turn into a puddle too if this man talked to me like that. The way he could hardly keep his hands to himself and craved Zoey all the time just made the spicy scenes between them even more intense. So couple that with the dirty talk coming out of his mouth... you might as well start chugging bottles of water now because this man will have you thirsting over his every word something serious!
Additional thoughts:
I thought the RV ride was hilarious. At first, I wasn't sure where it was going as far as moving the story along but once it got there it made sense and I thought it was a fun way to bring us to the end without an overly heavy and emotional 3rd act knife to the heart.
I was sort of hoping her mom and stepdad would drive themselves into the lake and stay there but it is what it is. There have to be at least one or two characters for people to hate after all and they fit the bill.
Also, I loved the epilogue so so much!! Her mom getting a front-row seat sent me!!
Perfect quick read when you just want a hot and steamy book with a man feral for his woman and a taste for the forbidden.

This was the Banned Baddies’ first book baby together! It was, mmm, slightly taboo. Age gap, step-relations, forbidden, and close proximity goodness!
Young, beautiful Zoey just left her shitty boyfriend and thought she could go home for a bit to figure out her new life plans. It would seem, however, that her unstable mother and looney step-father forgot to mention that they sold her childhood home and are now RV’ing across America. So with nowhere else to go, she winds up at her step-uncle’s luxurious home.
Would it even be an Ireland/Monroe book if the MMC isn’t a big grump? I think not. Silas, about 20 years Zoey’s senior, is genuinely moody, can’t stand his moronic brother, and likes to control everything in his life. The only thing that makes him more grumpy is Zoey’s presence, because his desire and lust for her must remain tamped down. Too bad his possessiveness rules out.

Zoey is a spit fire. She recognizes Silas’ lust for her early on and plays on his self control, or lack there of. I definitely liked how she was the instigator. Her insistence on calling him uncle was such a brat move. Poke the bear, girl. Let me not forget to mention that her stubborn mother and idiotic step-father were like something out of a National Lampoons movie.

Every time I pick up another Banned Baddies book it feels home. I embrace the crazy, the moody, the taboo, and all the fantastic banter. Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe are Queens!
Young, beautiful Zoey just left her shitty boyfriend and thought she could go home for a bit to figure out her new life plans. It would seem, however, that her unstable mother and looney step-father forgot to mention that they sold her childhood home and are now RV’ing across America. So with nowhere else to go, she winds up at her step-uncle’s luxurious home.
Would it even be an Ireland/Monroe book if the MMC isn’t a big grump? I think not. Silas, about 20 years Zoey’s senior, is genuinely moody, can’t stand his moronic brother, and likes to control everything in his life. The only thing that makes him more grumpy is Zoey’s presence, because his desire and lust for her must remain tamped down. Too bad his possessiveness rules out.

This was an unexpected surprise in the best of ways. It's Fun, Spicy, and a little Tabooish.
These two authors are such a dynamic duo, and this book was a fun, dirty, quick read that I absolutely loved. Who says you can't have a few laughs with your spice?! So if you love some tabooish spice with a few laughs, this is one you will need to grab. Remember if you have any sensitivities check the TW.
Silas was such an uptight workaholic, but his broody demeanor changes when his step-niece Zoey needs a place to stay. I loved his dirty talk and his need to claim her no matter what was off the charts hawt!! He's got a few lines that makes me laugh when he and Zoey first get together.
Zoey has unfortunately lost her savings due to her incompetent ex-boyfriend and needs a place to stay, and since her mother and step-father are road tripping in an RV now, she's left with one option and it's her jerkish step uncle Silas. Her need to push his buttons is so much fun to read because their banter is hilarious at times but also completely spicy the next second. She never fails to remind him who he is, and it seems to be their turn on kink.
So get ready to meet Silas and Zoey in all their kinky glory. These two are perfectly matched and so much fun to read. I loved that these two authors were able to give a lighter tabooish read that is still spicy with a few laughs in there. Yes, of course they still bring the kinks and smexy like no other, but this one was a fast paced kinky read. So I highly recommend it if you need a little light tabooish read from them.

Our Illicit Desires is written by Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe. I believe it was originally part of an anthology but has since been released on its own.
The novella focuses on Zoey who finds out that her boyfriend has stolen all of her money so she leaves him and heads to her family home only to find that her mother and step father have sold the house. As she needs a place to crash until she can find her feet, she’s sent to stay with her step uncle.
Silas doesn’t want his life turned upside down by having Zoey stay with him. He likes things a certain way, is rather cold at times and always in control. However he often finds that control slipping and battles hard with his desire for his step niece.
Anyone who is into a hint of taboo and wonderfully spicy reads, will enjoy this book. It would say the tropes include grumpy/sunshine, jealous/possessive, age gap, taboo and a breeding kink.
I gave this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5, absolutely loved it.

Having read Ms.Ireland and Ms.Monroe's work many times before i always get so happy to get more words from this duo! As soon as this story was announced i couldn't wait to read it! I picked it up and devoured it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this story so much!
Zoey and Silas's journey pulled me in! Zoey is trying to deal with things in her life after a certain situation. Who knew it'd lead her to staying with her stepuncle Silas. Can these two get along and go their own ways? or will giving into how they feel be everything for them?
I really liked how the ball got rolling from the very get go. how both Zoey and Silas had my undivided attention, and the way they were brought closer. I didn't know how they'd handle being around each other and i so enjoyed seeing how it'd all unfold for them. The undeniable heat between them was so great! These two had me feeling many things from start to finish!
With Our Illicit Desires, Ms.Ireland and Ms.Monroe have created such a good read with steam that i didn't turn away from! I can always count on Rory and Tate to make me blush, feel so much, and create page-turner reads i can't put down! Don't miss out on Silas and his Siren's story! 💜

this book is completely amazing. awesome. yes, those are the words. it's a novel, but a classic banned baddies style! it has all the spice, emotions, humour, and awareness. (intrigued? read to find out what i'm talking about ;)
and the dirty talk just couldn't have gotten better! Zoey is fierce, strong, no-nonsense. Silas, grumpy, hot, a business man.
it's filled with a fun and sexy time!
the breeding kink is chefs kiss, i especially liked the epilogue, and it ended with just enough spice and angst to it!
can it get any better?
i would definitely recommend it if you like:

Whew! More than I expected!
I went into this book with not a lot of context. I knew Uncle Silas was swoon worthy but past that I didn’t know what to expect from this novella. Maybe I didn’t expect a lot other than great smut because we all know Rory and Tate write that well, but this story gave so much more than that.
For one, I loved the plot. A lot of smutty novellas feel slightly rushed, you know so they can get to the good stuff, but this felt perfectly paced. The characters started out and remained true to their traits, which is something else I notice in books similar to this one lack. The character will all of a sudden become this snarky vixen or over controlling dominant but Silas and Zoey began and ended true to themselves.
Side characters are typically some of the most entertaining plot additions in my opinion and Ted and Melinda took the cake for this one. They added to the plot and even showed some of Zoey’s pain from the past but also were hilarious! The whack-a-doodles they were made me laugh so many times and in the end I was glad they were included.
Overall this book was a quick two hour read that I highly recommend reading.

I first read Silas and Zoey’s story in the Bred Anthology and I’m so glad that it got extended into its own book! This book is a short and steamy age-gap forbidden romance with plenty of witty banter and my personal favorite: the breeding kink!
When Zoey’s boyfriend loses all of her money she breaks up with him and tries to go home only to find that her childhood home has been sold. With no other options, she goes to live with her step-uncle, Silas. Silas is a domineering and grumpy man who finds himself fighting against his attraction to his step-niece. Zoey can’t seem to help herself and keeps baiting Silas until finally, sparks fly between them. Of course, things aren’t going to be easy and drama unfolds when a few unexpected guests arrive and throw a wrench in their relationship.
I really enjoyed this book and the ending was perfect for Silas and Zoey! If you’re looking for a quick age-gap romance to read then look no further!
