The Wolf in Me #1
Survive
The 23rd century is nearing its end. Having been treated as subhuman (and worse) for over 300 years, the Wolves - a race of wolf-human hybrids - have reached their breaking point. With a clear threat of war rising daily, the US Military devises a plan to destroy the beasts they helped create. However, utilizing their intelligence and raw bestial instincts, the Wolves hatch a plan of their own: plunge the entire world into a war to end all wars!
In the aftermath of a deadly airship crash, Percy - a six-year-old human boy - finds himself behind enemy lines; in the claws of the creatures he's been taught to fear his entire life. Xander - a twenty-eight-year-old elite black ops Wolf, finds himself with a very difficult choice to make; kill the innocent child he has found, or be ostracized by his own kind and protect the boy? What is a small, frail, boy to do when surrounded by beasts fighting to end his very existence? Survive!

I was skeptical about this book when I first read the description, genetically modified animal/human hybrids aren't normally what I gravitate towards, but I'm so glad I gave this book a chance. I've never read a book with more heart. The relationship between Xander and Percy is so amazing to read. The up and downs they go through send the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions. I wished I could reach through the pages and just hug both of them. Perfectly woven between the father/son dynamic of Percy and Xander are themes of justice, discrimination, and political tension that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat the whole time. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Riviting . Inventive. I truly enjoyed it.
What an interesting concept. Imaginative. A great story of acceptance, love and rejection. A different way to look at life.

I was lucky enough to win my copy of the book in a raffle that the author did, and I am sure glad I did, the book constantly had me on the edge of my seat, making me want to read more and more. The relationships between the characters, and the feeling of suspense in some of the more intense or serious moments felt so genuine. I felt so many emotions for the characters as I was reading, joy, fear, anger. Mr. Smith did an amazing job with this book and I am ready for the next book to come out!!!

After all the bad, mean and dishonest stuff that let me in a very foul mood, this was cute, amazing, and wholesome... until the last two chapters.
Rating is a mix of the soureness of those chapters mixed with sequel never, sequel that I want really badly.
Sorry for the not review, but no sequel, no review, personal opinion only.

There are few books that have made me as invested in the characters as this one.I was drawn into the story and felt the anger, fear, and love of the characters as they went through this story. For a first time author, Alex Smith has hit it out of the park and I'll be sure to pick up the second part when it releases.
