Amry Phillips is going through a true quarter-life crisis. Between two years of mourning her dad’s death, constantly worrying about her remaining family, and fighting to maintain some sense of her former self, she’s not sure she will ever be the same. To top it all off, she’s just discovered something especially upsetting under her long-term boyfriend’s bed, leaving her scrambling to find someone to join her on vacation to Savannah, Georgia for her high school best friend’s wedding.

Enter Ada, Amry’s 17-year-old sister with a lively personality that is often overshadowed by her trichotillomania, an anxiety disorder that causes her to subconsciously pull her own hair out. After a year and a half of feeling held back by her disorder, Ada is on a mission to build her confidence and live her life despite the judgment and self-consciousness that come along with it.

Together, the two set out on a fun and food-filled week in one of the South’s most charming cities. But when Amry runs into her childhood friend Jace and his cousin Gemma, the trajectory of their relaxing summer getaway is changed. With new opportunities in front of them, the sisters will have the chance to learn more about themselves, grow closer to each other, and open their hearts to the love that neither of them believes they deserve.

Miranda's earliest memory of writing goes back to a third-grade story competition, where she wrote about a cat and a horse who became best friends. Spoiler alert: it was bad and she didn't win. She's almost over it now.

These days, Miranda writes cozy contemporary romance novels. She lives in Florida, where she works in the travel industry and dreams about living somewhere with seasons. She hates raisins, and would put her life on the line for a good chocolate chip cookie.

I loved this so very much. PLEASE go read this beautiful, debut, indie romance.

This is much more than a romance but it was still so sweet, swoony, and steamy too! As you probably know by now- I love stories that feature grief. The fact that we didn't just get our lead's perspective on the loss their family dealt with but ALSO her teenage sister?! A gift to us readers!

It's not quite dual POV, because all of Ada's (teen sister) POV is in brief blog posts or texts between chapters but I adored her journey too. As someone with diagnosed OCD- this book made my heart sing. It was handled so well and I just wish I could hug our two couples! (That's right, TWO couples.)

Highly recommend.

This was such a cute book!
Taking place in Savannah, the author transports us to the historic town and I feel like I’m actually there. Between the adventures and the relationships, it felt relatable, but also informative, as I learned more about something I didn’t know much about.
There were fun twists and turns, and a beautiful story of love and friendship.
Definitely check this book out! First of many (hopefully) from this author, can’t wait for her next book!

Beta-read the first draft in 2021!

Reread of the final product in 2022:

My enjoyment of this book was always going to be five stars; I'm so proud and excited that Miranda's work is out in the world. I am aware that I can't review it with total objectivity (if there is such a thing in reviewing) because it's too close to my heart, so just a little disclaimer!

-- Written in an accessible style that incorporates warmth and humor and develops a strong sense of time and place
-- Incorporates themes of mental health, familial/sister bonds, and grief
-- A lovable and diverse cast of characters who exhibit strength and growth in a variety of ways
-- A fun plot featuring a road trip and multiple romances, centered primarily on the city of Savannah

Trigger warnings: Mental illness (specifically anxiety, OCD, and body-focused repetitive disorders), references to death of parent, grief, infidelity

I enjoyed this book so much! The writing was impeccable. I appreciate how the issues of anxiety and trich are woven into the characters. Ada and Amry are both ladies I would love to be friends with. Overall a great read for fans of contemporary romance. And it makes me want to visit Savannah!

Sweet Romance with Mental Health themes

I just finished Miranda Valentine’s debut novel and I must say, it was the absolute perfect way to begin this cold and dreary New Year. Pulled To You allowed me to feel a warmth of change and growth from the characters that is needed after the holidays.

Once I reached around the 64 percent point, I wanted to know what happened but I also didn’t want it to end. Miranda has an amazing ability to describe the scenes in a way that transports you right to Savannah, Georgia.

Amry and her sister Ada have the sweetest sister relationship. This book made me laugh, but there are also heartfelt moments that I can also relate to the grief from losing a parent. I lost my mother and honestly that part of grief is so isolating and hard to explain. The dialogue is so realistic and I absolutely love Miranda’s ability to describe emotions and anxiety.

Having worked in the mental health field, I am familiar with Trichotillomania and feel this book can be so useful to spread awareness of lesser known disorders. The author was able to accurately depict the struggles and also show ways of being more sensitive to those that are struggling with mental health issues.

I can not wait to read more from Miranda Valentine. I also am planning to buy a physical copy to keep in my collection. Highly recommend this when you need a cozy romance read with realistic life themes. Thank you, Miranda for bringing these characters to life for us!

Such a sweet, charming summer romance story, full of family, love, friendship, grief, healing and fun! I loved the setting of Savannah, GA in the summer time - I could truly feel like I was there with the wonderful descriptions of places, restaurants, and the full-on summer heat. (As a Floridian myself, you know the summer heat is sometimes it's own character.) The dynamics of Amry & Ada's sisterly relationship was precious, and I liked reading the growth between the two of them. I also loved the story between Jace & Amry, and was very much rooting for things to work out for them. I also really liked all of the character's names. And the dialogue was genuine and cute and funny, and not annoying and cheesy, which is always a pet-peeve of mine. This was her debut novel, but if I wouldn't have known that, I would never have guessed it on my own. Such a cute book! Maybe one day we'll get to read a sequel, to get more of Amry & Jace! (Full disclosure, I know the author as an acquaintance / friend-of-a-friend kind of situation, but this is truly my honest review.)

This was an amazing debut! I loved the family aspect of the story, and the anxiety representation. Jace was swoony, and I enjoyed the reconnection between him and Amry. I've always wanted to travel to Savannah, and this books descriptions just solidified those feelings. Can't wait to read more from Miranda in the future!

***SPOILER ALERT***

In the interest of 100% transparency, the author is my husband's niece. Which in reality just made me more critical because I'm contrary like that. I was all set to NOT leave a review. Because though I may be contrary, I'm not a complete jerk. However, this was good...I mean GOOD.

Not to toot my own horn, but I read A LOT. All genres, due to the nature of my job. We need to evaluate books to consider them for the possibility of recording. So I read A LOT of indie books--generally by Texas authors or books about Texas. But I have a warm spot in my heart for both horror and contemporary romance.

The author's sense of humor is on point. And I love her dialogue. It's just fun banter. Whether it's between the protagonist and the love interest or between the protagonist and her friend or her sister, she's just got a great feel for it.

I also really loved that she discussed trichotillomania. I had a friend in high school who dealt with this. It's a real and not well understood (by the public) manifestation of anxiety. But the author dealt with this issue with understanding and compassion.

Personally, I still feel that Amry should have taken a year for herself, but honestly if she and Jace are going to try and make this work, it's the best situation for her to figure herself out with him not living in the same town. And he seems chill enough to give her space.

I found Sloan so believable. It's so easy to make the cheating boyfriend and "friend" straight up black and white villains, and the author did not take the easy road here. Sloan is believable. Matt is believable...I even wound up liking the Google Review subplot, because it would have been superfluous if Sloan had done it. She had already sabotaged the relationship by leaving her bra at Matt's. But Matt doing it to provoke Amry...so cold...but believable from the guy who blamed his behavior on the fact that his girlfriend was grieving the death of her father and wasn't giving him the attention he was used to.

If you liked The Brown Sisters Series by Talia Hibbert, you'll like this book.

If this is her DEBUT, what amazing stuff can we expect from the author in the future!? I honestly can't wait. And that's not because I don't want things to be awkward over Thanksgiving. ;)

This debut novel was so much more than I expected.

It's about breakups, love, friendships, family, acceptance, growth, grief, mental health and so much more. It manages to incorporate and intertwine all of these topics perfectly.

I absolutely loved the relationship between sisters Amry and Ada. You can literally see and feel their growth as you read, both as individuals and as a family.

The love stories (for both Amry and Ada) were super cute and realistic and will have you rooting for them till the very end.

The fact that both Orlando and Jacksonville are used in this story was an added bonus for me (Orlando is where I consider home and I currently live near Jacksonville).

Amazing job on this debut.

Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Especially if you support indie authors.

I don't give out five stars often but I love authors who write about disorders. This book was raw with emotions and I loved it.

Amry was very relatable with how she coped with her ex, a past friend, and her career. How the book ended was just right as it wasn't forced. It felt real.

Ada, God, I felt for her. That girl is strong and my favorite character. I hope Miranda writes a book dedicated to just Ada.

There was one hiccup but it wasn't the author's fault. As an indie author, formatting a book is hard work and you need a microscope to see some of these errors online.

I recommend this book as it's like no other book I've read. It's in my top five for sure.

A new favorite indie author for me!

I truly enjoyed this debut novel about two sisters still grieving the loss of the father and struggling to connect with one another and the outside world. Their journeys and relationship alone were enough for me to love the book, but add in two sweet romances, an entertaining trip to Savannah, and a wedding and you are in for a real treat.

I really appreciate that this book had a multiracial MMC, LGBTQ rep for teens, and a disorder I haven’t seen written about before. Very well written and I cannot wait for this author’s next release. She’ll be an auto buy author for me from now on.

Pulled To You has the sweetest sister relationship, not one but TWO romances, and unique mental health rep. As someone with trichotillomania, it was so healing to see myself represented in a character in such a realistic and thoughtful way. I really enjoyed getting some of Ada’s perspective alongside Amry’s narration. This would be a super cute beach read for summer!

What an amazing debut novel! I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it! My absolute favorite part about this book is the sisters’ relationship. This story incorporates grief, travel, family dynamics, new experiences, personal struggles, romance and mental health. It is such a well-balanced story between hardships and joy, and I had such a great reading experience!

I was thinking about this book this morning. And realized I never left a review. (It’s a cold, dreary day here and this book is the opposite.)

I loved it. I read it in the fall and it took me away to warm sunny days and the detail that was written, I could picture each scene in my head playing out like a movie.

I adored the sister relationship and reading about Trichotillomania as up until that point, it was something I wasn’t aware of. As someone who works in the mental health field, I enjoy when anxiety or anything in between is represented in books. The little blog posts after chapters were my favorite, too!

I found the dialogue to be realistic and enjoyable as well.

I actually wanted to reread this book so I can annotate my favorite little quotes or details I loved. (Because I could 100% see myself rereading this little gem.) 🥰

I’m really excited to see what the author comes out with next! This was a great read for a debut novel and I fell in loveeeee with Savannah Georgia. 💕

This was such a good comfort read. The characters have so much depth without being pretentious or overwritten. Their internal struggles are incredibly relatable. I found pieces of me in each of the characters which I can say I've never experienced in a book. I could not put it down and read through it in a weekend.
