4 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance

The only thing I knew about the author prior to reading this is that she has a story featured in the Real Men Last All Night erotica anthology, so I thought I’d give this one a try. I’m glad I did because it’s a funny, sexy, and smokin’ hot contemporary romance with a reunited lovers theme. It’s actually the second book in her Chicks with Sticks series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything by not having read the first book Tangled Up In Love.

The series centers on the romantic entanglements of three best friends, Jenna, Ronnie, and Grace, who belong to a weekly knitting group. The gal pals get together to knit and gossip, although they glutton themselves on margaritas and Mexican food and lament on their latest man troubles a lot more than actually knitting anything. There are some knitting references and quips, but I know absolutely zilch about knitting and still enjoyed it just fine.

Loves Me, Loves Me Knot focuses on teacher Jenna, who’s still reeling and recovering emotionally from her divorce. After suffering lots of bad dates and her persistent ticking biological clock, Jenna decides that she wants to have a child on her own, but the only man she wants for the job of sperm donor is her ex-husband Gage. Jenna and Gage had a happy marriage, but things ended with a painful divorce when he changed his mind about having kids. Jenna knows Gage doesn’t want babies, but surely that doesn’t mean he can’t contribute his swimmers for her cause, right? After one too many margaritas, Jenna’s friends help her concoct a crazy scheme to get Gage back into her bed...tied up with one of her hand-knitted boas no less.

The stress and emotional strain of Gage’s career as an undercover vice cop resulted in his altered view on kids that led to their dissolved marriage, and if Jenna thinks he’ll be okay with providing stud service now that they’re divorced; she’s got another thing coming. But once passion reignites between them, all bets are off and things really get complicated. They have no squabbles or quibbles in the bedroom, but can they work out their problems outside of the bed?

I really enjoyed this one. It’s full of funny, sexy dialogue, humor, emotion, and heartwarming moments with Jenna and her friends and between her and Gage, and the romance is verrry steamy. Betts writes some fun, smokin’ hot, erotic sex scenes.

I got really caught up in Jenna and Gage’s story because it’s obvious that love, passion, respect, and friendship were never their problem, just the course that life sometimes takes when married couples reach a fundamental impasse. Their struggles are realistic and heartfelt, and I found myself rooting strongly for their HEA.

There are some really hilarious moments around Jenna’s friend Grace, who’s a woman scorned, going all Angela Bassett ala Waiting to Exhale. Grace’s story is up next in the third Chicks with Sticks book Knock Me for a Loop, which comes out in Feb’2010, and you can bet I’ll be picking that one up. So, if you like contemporary romance with a reunited lovers theme that’s got a lot of fun, humor, and emotion and is on the steamy side, then this might be a good read for you! 4 ½ stars!

Despite their divorce due to irreconcilable differences, Gage Marshall and his ex-wife Jenna Langan still have strong feelings for one another. So, when Jenna decides she wants a baby, Gage is the only candidate for fatherhood that she has in mind even if he is reluctant.

***Spoiler warning***

Jenna's actions at the beginning of the novel are inexcusable. Drugging, binding and "seducing" a man into having sex is rape, plain and simple. It does not matter one iota that he enjoys himself and he loves his ex.

Jenna's behavior puts a damper on an otherwise satisfying second chance romance. Moreover, Gage's revelation at the end makes his decision to end his marriage to Jenna seem childish and idiotic.

The secondary storyline involving Grace and Zach is uninteresting perhaps because neither character is particularly appealing and it is difficult to care about the disintegration of their relationship. Also, Grace actions are excessive and borderline criminal. Thus, I will not be reading the final installment in the series.

Goodreads kullanmayı bilmeyen insanlardan nefret ediyorum. Alt tarafı spoilers butonunu işaretleyeceksin bu kadar basit ya da insan ol ve "çok sıkıcı :D" yazma çok mu zor? Gerçekten sinir bozucu. Her neyse yine kötü bir kapak, kalite düşüren cinsten. Bence kitabın konusu ilk kitaptan daha ilgi çekici çünkü çiftimiz zaten birbirini bulmuş ve ilişkilerindeki sorun bu değilmiş. Gage'i de hemen ilk başta tıpkı Jenna'yı sevdiğim gibi sevdim. Birbirlerine olan sevgilerinde sorun yoktu, sorun çocuk olayıydı. Çözülebilecek bir sorun olduğunu düşünmediklerinden boşanmışlar. Ben Jenna'nın kızların aklına uyup böyle bir plan yapmasını yanlış buldum. Cidden dalga mı geçiyorsunuz? Sorun planda olabilecek hatalar değil adamın hayatına edilen müdahale. Bırakın herif sürünsün Jenna'da öyle size ne! Çok büyük bir ihlal cidden evet belki Gage bundan mutlu olacak sonra ama ne fark eder ki? Resmen adama tecavüz etti yani. I have recently become obsessed with knitting, so when I saw this on the shelf at the library, I knew I had to read it. And boy did I enjoy it! The beginning of the book kind of dragged on, but once the story got out of that rut and got moving, I just couldn't stop reading it! I ended up finishing this book in one day because every time I put it down, I had to pick it back up to see what would happen next.

Jenna and Gage hadn't spoken to each other in 18 months, after Gage told Jenna he didn't want children and they divorced. I normally don't like books about people who have been together then separated, then rekindle what they had, but this was definitely not the case. Jenna's Aunt Charlotte has a "magical" loom that will bring love to whoever knits with the yarn made from it, so she makes a special batch just for Jenna. While Charlotte is away for two weeks, Jenna stays in her house and after 18 months without speaking to Gage, one drunken night pushes Jenna to bring Gage back into her life. Jenna and Gage have clearly always been crazy about each other and still are despite their time apart, so as a reader I got really into rooting for them to finally kiss and make up.

I loved the fact that Gage was a big, bad cop who has a lot of baggage from his undercover experience. That, along with his tattoos and motorcycle, makes him so dangerous yet irresistible. Even though Jenna is the complete opposite, being a teacher and a tiny woman, they seem completely perfect for each other. I loved them together and had to keep reading to see how things would turn out in the end.

I haven't read the first book in the series, and I kind of wish I had. This book can be read just fine on it's own, but I would have loved to see how Ronnie and Dylan had gotten together because they are so adorable in the book. I loved how the story mainly focused on Jenna and Gage, but also gave the reader insight into the love lives of Jenna's two knitting buddies and best friends. I'm excited to read the other books of this series because this one was just so cute and lovable. Some things could have been different, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Heidi Betts'in yazdığı 'Seviyor Sevmiyor' okundu, bitti. Kitap harikaydı ! Harika ! Çok çok çok eğlenceliydi. Yazarın dili mizah yüklü, anlatımı çok başarılıydı. Çevirisi ise güzeldi. Eee bunlar tek bir kitapta birleşsin, tadından doyum olmuyor valla, kitaba :)):)) Kitaptaki diyaloglar ise yıktı geçti beni !
Beni benden alan bir diğer şey ise Jenna'nın bebek sahibi olabilmesi için; Jenna, Ronnie ve Grace'in yaptıkları o akıl almaz [bir o kadarda mükemmel ve zekice] plandı. Kadınlar, deyip geçmeyeceksin arkadaş! :))
Jenna, aşık olduğu adam çocuk istemediği için boşanmış bir kadındır. İki yıldır çocuk sahibi olabilmek yeni biri arayışında olması kendini günübirlik ilişkiler yaşayan bir kadın gibi hissettirmektedir. Tabi buluştuğu erkeklerden hiç biri pantalonunu indirmeye yanaşmamaktadır. S.* bankasına gitmeden önce son bir çare, plan yapar. Neden hayali eski eşi Gage'den çocuk sahibi olmaksa bundan Gage istemiyor diye vazgeçesin ki ? Eski eşini bir bahane ile evine çağır. İçkisine ilaç kat. Yatağa bağla. Tecavüz et. Olay çok basit !

İşte ben bu sayfaları derinlemesine okurken, o diyaloglara gülmekten kırılırken, ileride çocuğa ne diyebileceklerini düşünüyordum; evladım baban seni istemedi, bende çareyi ona tecavüz etmekte buldum. Ama sen çok seviliyorsun. Suç senin değil. Ah hayır benim de değil. Babanın !

Seviyor Sevmiyor okumanız gereken bir kitap ! Eğlenceli olduğu kadar da duygusal bir kitap. Ben sayfaları soluksuz çevirdim, hep bir merak... Yüzümde bir gülümseme. I picked up Loves Me, Loves Me Knot because I liked the cover. That guy looks like a tall drink of water and very sexy in his pajamas...and I'm a sucker for a good set of shoulders. Sue me.

The story opens with a woman named Charlotte pushing an old family spinning wheel up into the attic. She's convinced it's magic and brings true love to the person she's thinking about when she weaves the yarn. She's just made some yarn for her neice, Jenna, who's been divorced from her husband Gage over a year ago. Jenna still loves Gage and didn't want a divorce.

Right after we meet Jenna, the story set me off for the rest of the book. Jenna is house-sitting for her aunt Charlotte, and Jenna's two best friends come over for drinks and get drunk. The subject of kids comes up, and Jenna is melancholy because she wanted kids with Gage and can't imagine having kids with anyone else. They hatch a plan to invite him over, add drugs to his beer, and then Jenna will tie him up and have sex with him to try to get pregnant. Now, I know this is supposed to be a lighthearted romance, but I really had a problem with that scenario. If the sexes would have been reversed he'd go to jail for that. I couldn't let that go and it marred my enjoyment of the rest of the book.

Gage is upset when he realizes Jenna tried to get pregnant, as the reason they got divorced was because he didn't want kids and she did. He decides he's got to keep an eye on her until she knows if she's pregnant, so he stays with her while she's house sitting. There are some tense moments, but they do talk about where things went wrong and revisit their relationship, including the reasons why he suddenly decided he didn't want kids after they were already married.

If it wouldn't have been for the involuntary stud service scene I might have enjoyed this book, but to the end I just couldn't get past it. I give Loves Me, Loves Me Knot 2 stars.

İlk kitapdan daha çok beğendiğimi söylemeliyim..İlk kitaptaki argo kelimeler bu kitap da en aza indirilmişti..Kitap su gibi aktı ve hemen de bitti..Çeviride problem görmedim..Kitap beni kendine bağlıyorsa zaten çeviride problem yok demektir:)) Eleştirim kapaktaki çift uzaktan yakından alakası yoktu ama ona da fazla takılmadım..

İlk kitapdaki Charlotte teyzemiz bu kitapda da iş başındaydı büyülü çıkrığı ile Jenna ve Gage'ide bir araya getirmeyi başaracakmıydı:)) Yoksa başlarına çorap mı örecekti..

İlk kitap Kördüğüm'ü okurken en çok ilgimi çeken çift Jenna ve Gage olmuştu..Birbirlerini bu kadar seven bir çiftin ayrılmaları beni üzmüştü..Sebep ne olursa olsun..Gage'in korkuları dışarıdan bakıldığında anlamsız gelse de..Bu tür meslekteki kişilerde bu korkular normal olsa da..Bir evliliğin bitmesine sebep olmamalıydı bence...Sonuçta iki tarafta mutsuzdu birbirlerini yüreklerinden söküp atamamışlardı...
İşte bu yüzden İkinci şans romanlarını daha çok severim..Seviyor,Sevmiyor tam da ikinci şans romanıydı..Üç deli-dolu kadının rutin toplantılarından Jenna'nın hala daha eski kocasını içinde söküp atamamasına çok üzülüyorlardı Grace'den bir çözüm geldi:))) Gage'e ilaç içerip etkisiz hale getirdikten sonra tecavüz etmek...Çok yaratıcıydı...Ama olayın aslını öğrendiğinde Gage'in tepkisi büyük oldu..

Bu hikayede beni etkileyen faktör iki tarafında birbirlerini çok sevmeleri ayrıldıktan o kadar zaman geçtikten sonra bile gerçek anlamda kimse ile birlikte olmamaları idi..Bu kısmı çok sevdim..Ve tuttum:))
Diğer taraftan beyzbol yıldızımız Zach'ıda Grace'in yatığı bir sürpriz sonucunda oldukça kötü günler bekliyordu..Yani serimizin üçüncü hikayesi..Onu da okumayı çok istiyorum....
Tam anlamı ile eğlencelik romantik komedi idi...Özellikle Rachel Gibson severler bu yazarıda sever bence..Hala daha bu yazarı okumadıysanız bence bir şans verin ,eminim ki seveceksiniz...

Serinin ikinci kitabınıda okuyarak sihirli çakrak da sona bir adım daha yaklaşmış bulunmaktayım…
İlk kitaptan hatırladığımız “Gage ve Jenna”nın hikayesi oyunlar,istekler,beklentiler ve kalplerinin gerilerine hapsettikleri sevgil ile devam etti.
Yazarın kalemini KÖRDÜĞÜM kitabında beğendiğimi belirtmiştim,zira bu kitapta da beni yanıltmadı.

Gage ve Jenna bir yıl önce,üç yıl süren evliliklerini sonlandırdıklarında hala birbirlerine karşı yoğun bir sevgi duymaktaydılar. Ama aralarında ki engel,Jenna’nın büyük bir istekle çocuk sahibi olmasına karşı,Gage’nin şiddetle istememesiydi.
Çocuk özlemine dayanamayan Jenna arayışlar içerisindeyken yardımına örgü kursundan arkadaşları Greca ve Ronnie yetişir. Planları pek parlak olmasada başka şansı kalmamıştır.

Planı gerçekleşir (elbette ne olduğunu söylemeyeceğim (: ) ve Gage gerçeği öğrendiğinde gölge gibi Jennayı takibe alır. Ve hatta zorlada olsa aynı evi paylaşmaya başlarlar.

Jenna oynadığı oyun sonucunda hamile midir değil midir? İşte bu kısmını Gage gibi soluksuz bekledim.
Ve Gage’nin istememesindeki gerçekleri heyecanla okudum.

Kitabın konusu süprizlerle dolu,ve bir sonraki kitabın ana karakterleri Grece ve Zack’in kitabını merakla beklemeye sebep olacak cinsten.

Ama yinede belirtmeliyim ki ilk kitap KÖRDÜĞÜM her zaman bir numaram olarak kalacak..
Seriye başlayanların bu kitabı kaçırmamalarını öneririm,zira her kitabın karakterlerini eski bir dost tadında okuyor insan…

SEVİYOR,SEVMİYOR-Heidi Betts malesefff bitti... çok kısa geldi bana... keşkeee şöyle 500 sayfa falan olsaydı en azından diyorum.... yazarın tarzı tam bana göre... ilk kitap KÖRDÜĞÜM ile yazara hayran olmuştum... bu kitapta hayranlığımı pekiştirdi... bu çifti okumayı çok istiyordum... tüm istek ve beklentime değdi... Gage ve Jenna boşanmış bir çift... ilk kitabı okuyanlar bilir ayrılma sebepleri Jenna'nın bebek istemesi fakat Gage'in istememesi!!!! Charlotte yani Jenna'nın çatlak teyzesi çıkrığıyla sihirli ipler yapıyor.... bu kitapta da boş durmadı mor bir yumakta Jenna için yaptı... artık sihrin kabiliyeti mi yoksa Jenna'nın bir bebek için her şeyi yapacak hale gelmesi bilmem ama olaylar Gage'in damızlık olarak kullanılmak üzere yakalanması veee kullanılması ile başladı... tabi ki bundan sonra olaylar biraz karıştı!!! yazarın eğlence,tutku ve duyguları çok iyi harmanladığı bir hikaye çıktı orataya... bende keyifleee okudum... serinin bir sonra ki kitabına da küçük tiyolarla giriş yapıldı... şimdi onu bekleyeceğim... tam 10 puan verdiğim... keyfimi yerine getiren... sayfaların su gibi aktığı güzel bir romantik komedi kitabıydı... halaaa bu yazar ve seriyle tanışmadıysanız kaçırmayın derim!!!!!!!

This one flew by... the storyline is only a few weeks. It was a great start with how she gets him to "perform" the necessary duties LOL. And the subsequent couple of weeks were nice... but it seemed a little to superficial. Not to mention we had to build on the next story that was coming so that sort of took away from the two main characters. But it was a cute follow up and on to the next when published!

Serinin ikinci kitabı olan "seviyor,sevmiyor" kitabini bitirmiş bulunmaktayım. Ikıncı kitap,birinci kitaba göre daha tatlı daha heyecanlıydı.😁😁😁 Kitaba gelince,kitaptaki diyolog bölümlerinde, sanki karşınızda oturmuş da sohbet ediyorlarmış gibi geliyor. Yapilan plânlar,projeler sizi gulumsetecek hatta kahkaha bile atarken kendinizi bulabilirsiniz.😁😁😁 Kitabin konusuna gelince; Jenna boşanmış kendi halinde bir kadındır. Eski eşi Gage ise bir polis memuru olup evden işe,işten eve giden sıradan biridir. Bu çılgın çiftimiz ortak arkadaşları yüzünden görüşmek olup bunun dışında birbirlerinden haberi yoktur. Jenna'nin tek isteği Gage'den çocuk yapmak istemektedir ve bu düşüncesini en yakın arkadaşlarına söylemiştir. Hemen bir plan yapıp bunu uygulamaya koyarlar aslında plan çok basit. Eve çağır,içkisine ilaç arkadaşlar,yatağa bağla ve tecavüz et.☺☺☺☺

Another enjoyable story from Heidi Betts. As to why I read this last, I'm not sure. Hahaha... Seeing the other characters from the other books is really fun! And here, I got to see Grace's breakdown. The start of their story that is the third book from the series. And of course, who wouldn't like Gage? :) I liked him and I think I kind of understand his fears. And it was good how we saw him come to terms with his fears and to move forward and be happy with Jenna.

Overall I liked the characters but I had a hard time with Jenna drugging and forcing her ex-husband to have sex with her because she wanted to have a baby. I'm not ok with that.

Hal böyle olunca her ne kadar ayrılmış da olsalar birbirlerini özlemiş ve ayrılık sonrası baska aşklara yelken açamamış çiftimiz hasret gideriyorlar. Ama Jenna'nın istekleri ve Gage'inkiler bir noktada çatışıyor ve bir türlü orta yolu bulamıyorlar. Çünkü bebek yapmanın orta yolu mu olur, ya yaparsın yada yapmazsın. Acaba Jenna'nın teyzesinin sihirli iplikleri kaderlerini dügümleyip, birlikte olmalarına yardım edecek mi? Şahsi yorumuma gelirsek, ilk kitaba göre daha çok begendigimi söyleyebilirim, Gage çok çok aptal bir adam ama aynı zamanda çok da farklı bir elektrik aldım ondan, Jenna'nın ondan neden vazgecemedigini anlamak hiç de zor degil. Kitaptaki tek kusur çeviriyi begenmeyişim. Daha akışkan daha güzel bir dili olabilirdi diye düşünüyorum çünkü ilk kitapta fazlasıyla eglenmiştim. Çevirmen belki de espri yapmayı bilmiyor, gerçi olmayan esprileri de yoktan var edemez ama öyle işte 1 yıldızı da zaten ordan kırdım kendimce :p

I have a major problem with this book. Let me set the story up for you: Jenna is considered is sweet natured woman, who happens to be a grade school teacher. She wants a baby more than anything in the world, after a Girls Night full of Margaritas with her friends, they came up with an idea. They get Jenna ex-husband, Gage, to come to be her sperm donor, Jenna drugs him. Yep drugs him, did I mention he's a huge, hunky, vice cop. I felt that the anger that Gage had was understandable, but I thought Jenna got away with it. I felt it was just wrong. But if he was okay with it, I continued on with the book...but that just stuck in my head and I couldn't forget it.

And let me not get started on the secondary story that was going on...In one way I can understand Grace anger, and I thought that the way to "got back" at him was hilarious, my complaint was she wasn't giving him a chance to explain or to talk.

Even though I didn't care for the book all that much (or the series for that matter), I am still curious about what will happen next. I'm not sure what that says about me....funny.

When I started reading this book I had no preconceived notions of what was to happen as it's the second in a series and I have not read the first one. When I was in the middle of chapter 3, I found myself wondering if the category was wrong. I found it to be very erotic, and surprised to find it as a romance. Then in the next chapter I found myself laughing-not something that you expect to find in erotica.

Overall, I say it was a good read. Nothing too "brain-teaser" about it. You know that Jenna and Gage will end up together just because it's a romance novel, and usually the main pair have their happily ever after. What I found enjoyable was Aunt Charlotte even though she's not on the story all that much. She is a great character who I'm sure lots of people would love to have in their corner.

Loves Me, Loves Me Knot was not what I expected. I seemed to have missed the part about it being a little... explicit? But all the same, it was good. Unlike many other 'explicit' novels coming out these days, it's steamy but still has a storyline to it. Things aside from sex happen and you can get to know the characters outside of the bedroom.
I also found Betts novel enjoyable as it gave the point of view of the men too, and didn't just make them out to be the bad guys. This book had me laughing all the way through with relationship follies and the consequences of girls night.
It was a little bit repetitive in some places, simply rewording the same sentiments over again but these bits also fit where they were placed so it wasn't irritating like it sometimes can be.

I've thought long and hard on what I was going to say about this book, and still can't figure it out. I'll start by saying I didn't care for what Jenna did to Gage. It almost tainted the whole book for me. If what she did, was done to a woman, we would have thrown the book away. Because it was fiction I went on and read the book. After I got over the beginning it became much better. You really felt for Gage and his messed up feelings about life. He had so much to work through and did it. Jenna's actions helped him in a gross sort of way. If you can get through the beginning of this book I think you'll enjoy the rest of it. It's a quick read.

Boring, I struggled through it, knitting in real life I like, in here it was boring. The knitting magic or whatever was dumb, I didn't care for the aunt. The H and h were uninteresting. The plot was bleh. The knitting club I skipped reading because it was boring. I was a bit intrigued with the homicidal chick who hurt her ex's hummer but meh I don't care to read another book from this author. She forgave him too soon, he realized his error too soon, bleh, uninteresting. Where I wanted drama I didn't get, where I didn't give a shit for drama I got, bleh. I wasn't happy. I think I wasted money buying this. I'd return it. Since people are so easily offended, I beg pardon.

Sonunda bitti. Bu kitabın yazarıyla ilk kitabın yazarının aynı olduğuna inanmakta zorluk çekiyorum. İlk kitap gayet akıcı ve eğlenceliydi. Bu kitap ise akıcılığı bırak tamamen sıkıcı bir hal almış resmen. Jenna bana ilk kitapta çok sessiz görünmüştü. O sessizliğin altında neler yatıyormuş meğer. Gage'e çok acıdım başta. Zavallı adamdan habersiz neler çeviriyor arkasından kadın :)

Kitabı okunabilir kılan birkaç şey; Ronnie ve Dylan (çok sevdim ben bu çifti) Grace'nin komiklikleri. Başka da bir şey yoktu valla. Sevemedim ben kitabı. Sıktı beni. Hayal kırıklığı yaşadım yani.

Üçüncü kitabı acayip merak ediyorum. Grace ve Zack'in ilişkileri ne olacak merak konusu.

I give this story 2 stars...or 3. I can't decide yet. I think the main reason for the 2stars was because I read this book on my nook-PC which resulted in me being exposed to 3 pages at a time which tempted me to skim through a lot of the pages. Also, the introduction of Grace and Zack's story was very distracting. I kept skimming through pages in hopes of finding out how the couple was doing. also, i felt that the chemistry and the love between Jenna and Gage wasn't intense. Character development was lacking as well.
