As a Yankees fan growing in the Bronx during this period, this book brought back many memories. I specifically recall the late 60s when Mickey Mantle was placed at 1st base because he could no longer roam the large Yankee Stadium outfield and the likes of Roy White, Joe Pepitone, Mel Stottlemyer, Clete Boyer, et. al. Even though they were a terrible team when I became 'aware' of them they were still our team. It was great when they started winning again in the mid-70s, but regardless of where they stand, they'll always be 'my' team.

I have had Dog Days by Philip Bashe on my book shelf for a couple of years . I finally pulled it down to read . I'm sorry it took me so long . An Extraordinary book of the dark days of the Bombers to their revival. Richly researched and marvelously told , this story is a must for any Yankee fan who wants to know the middle history of the ball club.

Covers my favorite Yankees time period - The Horace Clarke Era. Too bad the era didn't last longer.
