Midlife Supernaturals is a storyverse where middle-aged women in their forties smash the patriarchy, fall in love (or serious lust), and work a little magic. Don't let the "Paranormal Women's Fiction Novels" title fool you into believing these women are TERFs. This storyverse is as diverse as the real world with a little supernatural spice to make it fun.
Meet Miriam Diaz, a simple stay-at-home mom, or so everyone thinks. Miriam shatters the illusion of her mundane status the moment a hellhound threatens the safety of her daughter. Coming out of the supernatural closet has its perks. Namely, the handsome nephil-shifter Gabriel Crowfoot. Revealing her true nature also has its pitfalls, she must confront her evil ex and stop a war between Heaven and Hell.
Watch Miriam glow-up from a person who hides from her past into a Celtic goddess incarnate and protector of her community. All with a little help from her supernatural friends.
A wonderful journey through an intricately built world of heavenly angels and fallen ones, witches, and all manner of shifters and fae. There are complex relationships, just enough battles to keep one happy without overdoing, and surprises aplenty.
The trilogy shines light on the epic divisiveness that can arise through the belief that there is only one path up the mountain of religion and worship.
There's so much more to savor in this beautifully written volume. I recommend it to all who appreciate a story that lets one escape for awhile while gently prodding one to think about the ills of this world and possible solutions.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
2.75*
First time read the author's work?: Yes
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
These three books are fairly interesting. I didn't really understand what was going on at first, but it eventually became apparent in an annoying way. Still, I kind of liked the MC and the basic message of the story. I think the whole "we don't need a man" side of it (which I love) loses its value when she apparently can't do anything without one but whatever. There are some awful glaringly obvious grammatical and spelling errors in the book, but again, whatever. Worth a look.
I enjoyed this story , I didn't think I would after it evolved into a love triangle. It still had some of the angst that is generally pervasive in those kinds of stories but a tolerable amount. It was a fun sweeping saga all in all. The author offered an interesting view of angels, fallen as well and the affect of belief. Yes I'm glad I read this series.
Some just went so fast that id have to reread them to understand what they were saying....sometimes it was as if they were all in another world! Yet it was prettyclear at times too. It took me awhile to read because it wasahite uneven in places.
I was looking for something to read to overcome some challenges I was facing. This popped into play and so began my reading. What a wonderful surprise this was. Page turning, fell in love with the characters and their problems, and a must read author. I don't recommend trying to stop at just one book because you will lose out on what happens next. Happy reading.
I loved the story line the characters the growth. The story just grabbed me from the start and truly kept me entranced. I read the set in less than two days. There is so much to unpack and yet so easy to understand. I truly enjoyed this box set more than my measly words can say.
I could not put this trilogy down. .Ms Deschamps weaves a tale that is sure to leave on the edge of your seat. I throughly enjoyed everything about this Saga.
The story is very much based on Greek gods and goddesses and at times felt like I should have more knowledge than I have. Despite that, good story telling and enjoyable trips to another world.
