…who can make her entire body explode into flames.
Fire fae Jameson has a problem. Namely, her ex, who wants her back at all costs. He is a prince, but he was also abusive and controlling, which is why Jameson had to start a new life without him eight months ago.
And she’s never going back.
Her new job as an exotic dancer is freeing, exciting, and pays good money. And she has attracted a human admirer, named Emmett who comes to see her every night, taking in every one of her shows, and showering her with attention. Jameson loves all of it but must be cautious…
Can she fully trust him?
Keeping her ex at a distance and Emmett by her side is more than a full-time job, but she must keep going to remain safe and live the life she’s always wanted. But will her ex get to her first?
Where Your Eyes Linger is an urban fantasy romance and is for people who love gritty supernatural dramas, starting over, and learning to trust love again.
Dani M. Ward lives in a state with more corn than people. As a kid, she daydreamed about living in a world with vampires, witches, and fairies. Dani realized later supernatural creatures hide in plain sight, so she looks for them everywhere she goes. When she's not hunting for supernatural creatures, Dani is chugging coffee and writing. Dani writes fantasy romance for lovers of diverse fiction. Her characters include strong women saving themselves with swoon-worthy men who stand beside them. She loves sass, spice, and smut. When she's not writing, she can be found trying to wrangle her two children, watching Asian dramas with her two poodles, or playing video games with her husband. Dani enjoys reading, napping, and pairing wine with food. She has a BA in Anthropology and is getting her MFA in Creating Writing. She's hoping to catch a demon; so she doesn't have to pay her student loans back.
This is the debut novel from Dani, and you definitely won't believe that it is!
Dani delivers a captivating, all consuming angsty fantasy romance that will leave you wanting more at the end. Her characters are intriguing, swoon-worthy and fascinating all at the same time. Emmett will definitely be a reader favourite!
I can't wait to read more from Dani, because if it's anything like this, I know I'm going to love it!
Storyline and length ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Engaging plot and a great amount of twists! Following Jameson through thick and thin, while enjoying loads of drama, love and humour!
Characters ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The book shows an amazing cast of characters, that are really well-written! I especially love the diversity, showing different skin-colours and body types! I especially love Jameson, who is an exotic dancer because she wants to, and feeling no shame over enjoying it! She is a strong female lead, but still has insecurities and problems she can't solve herself
Is it captivating? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Could not put the book down, and absolutely binged it! While reading I felt immersed in the story, and kept thinking "I just need one more chapter".
For a debut novel Dani M. Ward has knocked it out of the park with the first book of her Hallow Ocean series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Please though, understand that YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH DOES MATTER and you need to know and understand that there are triggers to be aware of. They are: domestic violence, attempted SA, bloody scenes, mature situations, foul language, abuse, and rope talk.
And I adore the tropes that we have in this one. We get a strong kick-ass FMC, a sweet MMC, traumatic events, wonderful friends, slow burn, interracial romance, paranormal, empowering MMC, groveling, hurt/comfort, and spice.
Where Your Eyes Linger follows Jameson as she just tries to live her own life. She's an exotic dancer at a club and it may be surprising but she actually loves what she does and you have to respect that. She is trying to recover from an abusive relationship and is trying to live on her own and find herself again. (Personally, if I was a fire fae in a relationship with an earth fae, there is no way I'd ever be in that situation. But, that's just me now. I was there and I understand how one can get into an abusive relationship.)
This is a really fun read. I had so much fun getting lost in this world and I can't wait to see what happens next. There is so much depth and Dani M. Ward has created such depth and left so much open potential that this story could go in any which way. I can't wait to read the next book and see what way Dani is going to take us next.
First time reading this author and it sure won’t be the last. Great world building and character development. Loved the angsty attraction between the main characters. Lots of lovable side characters that I need to have books too. Smokin hot smexy times🌶🌶🌶🌶, round out this great read.
This book is phenomenal. The world building and character development had me seeing the scene in my mind. The flow of the story is great and our MC is both relatable and empowering. The smut adds to the storyline perfectly.
Jameson- fire fae exotic dancer, hiding a pass and spending time with a human...
Emmett - the human that can't stand to be away from Jameson.
Looking for an urban fantasy romance, this book is for you, so many twist and turns and some I didn't see coming. But a great book on no matter what happens to you, it's up to you to pick up the pieces.
This debut novel by Dani Ward gives you a captivating and angst fantasy romance! I love how she describes and does the world building in this book along with falling in love and even hating some of the characters in this book. If it wasn’t for having to adult I wouldn’t of been able to put this book down!
You get everything in this book! Heartache, romance, spice, fighting, and even killing. What more can you ask for!
The flow is a little off with the characters involvement during the story a few tweaks, I believe your book definitely can receive a 5 star rating. The romance in the novel between Jameson and Emmett definitely can make fireworks go off! Your way with words on how King Ryan's views on his relationship with Jameson brought back goosebumps your view was on point as to what can happen during a narcissistic relationship. I wasn't expecting both twins to be involved either which was a great twist! Keep this up and you definitely are a great writer. I'll keep watching for more books and if you update ill definitely come back to review. I understand hiccups with goodreads and Amazon so no worries there. Keep up the great WORK.

Where Your Eyes Linger follows fmc Jameson, an exotic dancing fire fae, who is hiding from her abusive ex, and Emmett her human admirer who buys her time at the club every night.
Immediately I went into protective mode watching Jameson put up with her abusive boyfriend and earth fae Ryan. Trash 🗑️. I wanted her to set him ablaze so bad. 🗣️Alexa add steel toed boots to my cart cause I’m about to kick this b!tch head in for hurting and demeaning Jameson
Emmett made me fall in love with him ❤️. Sweet, patient, kind, and all about Jameson. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them together and oooh when they finally hooked up 🧨🔥. Of course when everything seems to be going well for my girl here comes Mr. Trash and all his b.s. 🗣️ Alexa did you place my order??
I can’t tell you the joy it brought me to see an fmc who loves dancing. She wasn’t shy or insecure. She owned it. Confidence and all 💅🏾
Can we talk about the neighbor Mrs. Marble and her… pet 🤔 Mr. Whiskers. I’m still not convinced that thing is a cat 🙅🏾♀️ but I do wish we could have seen more of him. But shoutout to Mrs. Marble for shutting crap down when needed
Not only did Dani give us a great story she also wrote amazing side characters ❤️
This is the first fantasy book I've read in a while and was definitely not disappointing! The world building and interracial relationship was chefs kiss 💋 Check triggers if you have previous abuse trauma ⚠️
So, this was a really good, and had a lot of promise that was delivered on. Dani Ward did such a great job on this story's world building. Even though it wasn't exactly described as that, I envisioned an urban world where humans and Fae existed together, but there was still some type of prejudice between the two kinds. Jameson is a young woman that ran away from her abusive husband after years under his control, and ended up work as a stripper. She's still in hiding, and hopes that her husband won't turn up since he hasn't shown himself in the past few months. In her sight though is Emmett. He's a regular at the club, that seems to know her work schedule better than her. His obvious attraction and obsession seems to be the ignition for their chemistry, but his intent to take care of her offsets any hesitation that she has.
This story was really good, and definitely worth the read. Dani Ward has a way with helping you feel immersed in the part with the characters. There were a few times that the plot felt a bit choppy, or rushed possibly, and other times where the connection with Emmett and Jameson felt forced, but overall, I devoured this book.
I know I read these books out of order but luckily it doesn’t matter as they are standalone books in this series. I absolutely loved this book! It gave me all the feels (good and bad so check the trigger warning)! Dani M. Ward has created a fantasy world that makes me feel like I’m living it with her words.
It follows Jameson, a Fire Fae, that happens to work as a stripper as she navigates life while trying not to be found by her abusive ex. She has a very loyal human client that comes to see her nightly as their budding romance grows stronger, there’s just one problem. Her ex doesn’t want to end their relationship (although it is in fact over). Not only that, he just so happens to be a prince that’s up for the position of King, meaning he has ways to keep tabs on her and the ability to sway public opinion if she speaks out. Will he eventually get the picture once she moves on or will she continue to live her life while constantly looking over her shoulder?? Read it to find out!
Wow. This is my first and definitely not my last time reading this author’s work.
Fae, Shifters,,Vampires, Ghouls, oh my!! You name it. It was there in this mystical world.. The character building was off the chain!! I fell in love with each and every one of them. They had me cracking up with the responses and remarks between the characters. The author was able to intertwine them all together seamlessly. The humor, camaraderie, raw emotion, and intensity had me holding my breath, exhaling and responding like….. what the hell done happen na!! 😂😂.
Let me also say this…. At first I was like…. Awww this is so cute. A slow burn story. 😳. Yeah naw! When that connection came together. I think that burn 🔥 knocked me off my feet!! 😂😂😂.
I will tell you check your trigger warnings. It wasn’t disrespectful in the writing. But I would say it was so descriptive to me. It was like I was put in the FMC place with the feelings and details.
Loved this book! It's been a while since I've delved outside of my usual genre and WYEL did not disappoint. My heart was in my mouth a multiple points in the book, I had everything crossed for Jameson as she went through such tough times. The anger I felt towards Emmett was so real it surprised me but as the hunky ML I couldn't stay angry for long! I've despised characters before, but Ryan elicited emotions I didn't even think I was capable of!!! I loved the cultural differences of the varying creatures and the subtle nod to them was something I didn't realise had been missing from my usual reads!
I cannot wait to get the next installment and continue with the lives of some of the side characters plus some new faces!

This is the first book in “The Hollow Ocean” series. Previously, I have read the third book in the series “His Crimson Mask” and always wanted to read the whole series. I finally got the chance to read the series and I cannot wait to read the next book! This book had me so up in arms! I wanted to reach through my KIndle and strangle many of these characters! I also wanted to reach in and hug a few of these characters! This was such a great read! I cannot believe I waited so long to read this series! Thank you, Dani M. Ward! You have created such wonderful characters and I cannot wait to meet even more new characters in the second book “Thing That Go Bump.” Thank you for more books to add to my TBR list!
Oh my, Dani M. Ward has given me my newest, bestest book boyfriend ever! This was such a different, new, original book with writing that just grabbed me. I loved the style, the characters and the actual world building. While healing and jittery from a major trauma, the FMC still exudes a strength that is so encouraging to read. The MMC is distracting and delicious in his love for Jameson and his devotion is so heart-warming. Book 1 of The Hollow Ocean series sets the scene for a brilliant series, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Yes, I read Books 2 & 3 first but that didn't hinder the reading and enjoyment. If you love paranormal fantasy with a contemporary romance, this is for you.
I loved this book and the characters! The MFC Jameson is a fire fae who is stuck in a forced relationship by the Earth fae prince, Ryan. She ends up escaping his clutches and runs for her life. She ends up starting over after being found on the side of the road, just in time. She becomes a stripper at a prestigious night club and making a life for herself while falling for a human man named Emmett. The passion between these two are out of this world. He teaches her how to really love again. With more lies and trouble thrown Jameson’s way though, will she be able to truly have a HEA with Emmett?
Amazing first book by this author. The character and world building was great. Throughly thought out and captivating.
Jameson is a fire fae. She a stripper at Scarlet she has an ex boyfriend Ryan who won't take a damn hint. Ryan is quite the d*ck.
Emmett is a human and he can't be away from Jameson he visits her nightly and is thoroughly intoxicated by her.
Jameson has to figure out how to navigate the future ahead she keep safe while falling for Emmett. Emmett head a secret that may break this bond and forming relationship.

Jameson is a dancer and a Fae. She works for Asher and Jake who are also Fae. She escaped her boyfriend Ryan. He was an earth Fae. He wasn’t good to her after some time of them dating. She had a peaceful life for about 9 months. He ended up finding her at her new place. She didn’t feel safe there so she went to stay with her vampire friend Veronika. Ryan put Jameson through a lot. Jameson met Emmett at her job and they spent a lot of time together. This was a good book.
A different twist on Urban Fantasy with a Paranormal Vibe. This book had a bit of everything: Laughs, Steam, Suspense, Angst as well as a look into various supernatural beings.
Although I couldn't understand how the FMC who was a Fire Fae was afraid of her ex-boyfriend who was an Earth Fae. There is no way I would have been allowing an Earth Fae to stalk and abuse me; I would have been lighting him up like the 4th of July......FLAME ON!!!
I like that this book starts off in the futuristic wasteland type environment with bubbles of manufactured environments from our current day environment. It was interesting to hear how the war started between everyone as well. And Ryan just constantly makes me want to punch him in his smug little face. But then holy plot twist. I didn’t see that coming. I knew something was coming but not that. Excited to read more by Dani.
Interesting book. Was set in a Fae world I haven’t delved into much, but enjoyed and would be interested in learning more about. The main characters held their own and the supporting characters were great, I really enjoyed what they brought to the story. The story line was fluid and traveled seamlessly from one event to the next.
Jameson has to find herself after being held captive and escaping. I really enjoyed this tale of faes and humans and more. I felt the story was a bit disjointed sometimes from chapter to chapter, and it distracted me a bit. I truly enjoyed the world building and character development though. Emmet's enchantment of Jameson is chef's kiss.
I wish Ryan got hacked up into pieces like Noah after immense torture, sad that didn't happen. But the storyline between Jameson and Emmett, wow overrides it all. A Fire fae in love with a human, overcoming all disciplines of abuse, wish Emmett smacked the crap out of Ryan. Struggled with the intense storyline making it all fit together, but it was well written and had my HEA which I always want.
4.25⭐️ and 3🌶️ I loved going on Jameson and Emmett’s story and it took some turns I wasn’t expecting. There are some triggers so beware of that if you wish to read. Jameson has a traumatic past. It’s really empowering reading her push forward with the help of others when she begins to question herself. Great story!
This book was a good start to the series! Dani Ward built her world without overloading her readers. I’d read just to find out who will rule lol. I was sucked in from the beginning with her vivid descriptions and suspense. There were some difficult scenes but overall I can’t wait to continue reading this series. I’m starting book 2 tomorrow! Read the triggers THEN READ THE BOOK!
Sidenote: I met DW at BRBF25 and she literally took the time to tell me about each and every book! She was so passionate, inviting, and down to earth! @khatreenah
Jameson had to overcome so much after her ex and all the roadblocks he kept throwing her way. Something about Emmett felt slightly off, and honestly, I was expecting something totally different, lol. I’m really curious to see how their relationship develops between a fae and a human.
I don’t think I read a book where the main character is human and the female is a supernatural being. I really enjoyed the book and how the main character like her for her and not for her occupation. I love how it was a fantasy background with real life scenarios.
