Danny's ordeal ends up with a happy-ending (not at all doubtful): the mayor and his aid, the sheriff, are defeated and Danny can live his peaceful life in the town, having his friends aside

What An Amazing Series!

"The Truth" is Book 5 of The Carterville Series, written by Percival Pack. Former drug dealer, Cody, has changed his life around after the deaths of his brother and then mother. His is in Carterville U.S.A. in the Witness Protection Program, living a new identity as Danny Porter. He's made a few friends in town with Interior Designer Kelsey Hale, her older sister Bethany who works in the Mayor's office, Buck who is a Deputy in the Police Department, and Mama Sue who is the owner of the best cafe with the best food in the town. Danny's also made a few enemies, as well as a few people who are suspicious if him, such as the Mayor, Sheriff Rhinehart, Pastor Pearson, and Mr. Watson who owns the hardware store. Then there are two sets of bad guys who are after him, and who kidnap first Kelsey, and then later kidnap Bethany. And then there is an innocent mentally-challenged homeless man named Gomer who is witness to murders that happen four years earlier. And as if that isn't enough, there are strange notes warning Danny to run, Danny being shot at, and Danny's Ford Bronco, the last remaining gift from his dead father, getting torched beyond repair. Are these threats against Danny caused by people from his past? Or are they from someone in town? This is an amazing and fantastically written series that had me, an avid reader, sitting on the edge of my wheelchair and my recliner. I gave this entire series a 5 star rating, and I recommend it to everyone who loves mysteries and action. I hope Danny's and Kelsey's story continue in another set of 5 stories, like Audrey Walker's Robin Matthews, Shelby Griffin, and Sarah Brown series'. I absolutely loved The Carterville Series.
