The first year of college is supposed to be the best time of your life, right? Partying, discovering yourself, getting your heart broken… all that bullcrap.
My cousin once told me I had a talent for attracting trouble. And screw me sideways, he was right.
Instead of discovering myself, I discovered something much worse. I suck at college.
Oh, and I am in love with my rival and former best friend’s boyfriend.
I wish I could say that’s the extent of it. But drama and trouble find me everywhere I go.
Not only was he my rival and enemy’s boyfriend. He was my stepbrother.
And now he wants to play a winner takes all game with me.
The problem is I never back down from a challenge. And I was feeling confident too… until my stepbrother’s estranged twin brothers that I had never met before entered the game.
So there were definitely a few plot holes and I was more confused than I wasn’t, but I did still enjoy it … I’m pretty sure I enjoyed it. I mean the self-destructive FMC was my personal favourite and the men …. Yeah I hate them all. That may have been the point though. Idk🤔
So the FMC was a little bit of a train wreck, but it’s warranted. She has been through a lot of sh1t and in my opinion, copes better than I would. Due to this, she had an ‘I don’t give a f**k’ mindset. Great mindset to have. She was pretty promiscuous and during this trying time, became friends with the guys at the local MC Club. Honestly, these relationships were very sweet and they treated her like a sister. A blood sister! because of the current trope, I feel the need to specify.
Now onto the men. For the majority of the book, we only had Asher. I was starting to like him until it turned into a complete d*ck. He wanted her, but he had a girlfriend. So whenever he was annoyed with her, he slept with his girlfriend within earshot of her. She was the OW, but his behaviour was gross. He seemed to always say that she had worth and yet treated her as didn’t have any. Also, he said he would break up with his girlfriend if ‘she wants’. The man is Shakespeare😒
In the last 40%, his twin brothers turn up out of nowhere. Literally nowhere. I thought we may have already met them earlier, but we didn’t. This was another point of the plot that didn’t make sense to me.
No one ever mentioned that these twins existed. Her stepdad didn’t even mention them to her mum … that’s weird. They have been married for 4 years.
Also, the FMC doesn’t know how her stepbrother's mum died. If you have lived together for 4 years how would this not have come up ???
He also doesn’t know how her dad died. These are very obvious questions I think you would ask when your parents marry someone new and you wonder where the previous spouse is. I am crazy !!!
The mum was absolute trash also. The FMC was literally broken into a million pieces and her mum told her to get over it. I’m just so confused 😂
The men are highly flawed, which isn’t a problem, but there is currently nothing driving me to like them. They are just so unlikeable. The twins seem like the kind of guys who put on a leather jacket and think that qualifies them as ‘bad boys’. No sir put that jacket back.
The 3 stars are because I really liked the first 50% and the game aspect was really fun to read. I was excited to see what they came up with next. Also, the FMC was an amazing character and you couldn’t help but sympathise with her.
I will continue this series purely for her and to see what happens after that cliffhanger, because that totally came out of nowhere also. I am so blindsided 😅
Ok first off: I really feel for Rylee. I feel that she is in a spiral & no one really seems to care or even try to help her out of it. She keeps a lot in & you see her vulnerability shine through a few times.
The games that Asher started were all in good fun, but when they take it up a notch? WOW. All I’m gonna say. I also don’t know how I feel about the arrival of the twins. I guess time will tell.
At this point I’m pissed off. I just want Rylee to say fuck everyone & run off with Butch. He’s the only one that seems to genuinely care about her.
As for the MMC’s, they are on my shit list & I wanna see a lot of something before Rylee even thinks of interacting with them.
& I also didn’t like how Asher very much has a girlfriend & very obviously cheats on her. I don’t really care for his girlfriend but the fact that there were times he flaunted her around Rylee when things were changing between them rubbed me the wrong way.
I wanna see something really dramatic happen in book 2 & for everyone to pull their heads out of their asses.
This is a tricky one since I'm binge reading the series. Halfway through the third book at the moment. Not sure about the cheating or Jenny making sex tapes. Fair play to Lee, she did try to get away multiple times. Asher got saved by his brothers arrival. I'm glad Asher didn't do the dare with Jenny's mother. I didn't like that he wanted both Jenny and Rylee, yet double standards for her. The wheels crew was sweet. The norseman dicks were brutal. Not sure about the home drama. Blake was pretty closed off and Zayn was chaos. Wasn't surprised when Jenny turned scorned woman, but ew to camera set up.

This book was fucking ridiculous and a huge shit show. And if you don’t like OW or OM or FF or everyone just being fucking hoe bags. Then this book is definitely not for you. It is so confusing and I hate when potential partners are fucking other people dating other people doing all kinds of other absolutely crazy sexual shit with other people. I mean, her boyfriend literally went down on a nun. Her future boyfriend that is or maybe he’s not gonna be I don’t know because his book is so confusing. And the ending was horrible and yet again confusing. To be honest, I kind of hated this book. So if you’re looking for romance or a really good Rh dynamic or a great potential love story. This is not the book for you.
I don’t think a FMC has irritated and pissed me off as much as Rylee fr. I don’t even have words for how much I did not like this book. What even was the plot?! Why was there so much back and forth just for nothing to be even close to being resolved smh. Do not recommend unless you like wishy washy dumb characters.
There is something about the way that Steph Macca writes that absolutely has you hooked to her stories. I can’t really pin point what it is but she literally laces the pages with something that keeps you coming back for more.
I devoured her last series and thought I’d tackle her catalogue and picked this book. Boy oh boy this one is literally a train wreck and I can’t look away 🫣 and I’m riding the vibes wave with this one. The FMC, Rylee, clearly has a lot of trauma, requiring lots of therapy and is tail spinning so fast she was going to crash hard. And that she did but right into the arms of her step brother Asher, who by the way has lived with her for four years but knows nothing of his past 🙄 Also, he has a girlfriend that is Rylee’s ex-best friend. Talk about complicated and totally messed up. Not a big fan of reading about cheating but train wreck, remember, so I’ll let it slide.
I rather enjoyed the wicked games that Rylee and Asher were playing and this was fun until his twin step brothers just literally popped up out of no where in the last 40% of the book. I had some issues with this, as well as some other points that were sprung up out of the blew, causing a few plot holes but at this point I was invested and really didn’t care. I’m just curious how the series will continue especially after the sh$t show of an ending.
Minor spoilers, because I I’m pretty much still in shock, but in a good way I think. First, major kudos to Steph Macca who is quickly showing us all that she’s a freaking powerhouse genius author! So, Vicious Games was a bit more than I expected but only because I’m still trying to process the whole story. Rylee’s character gave me chills in the way she’s lost, feels judged, struggles coping with life, pushes moral boundaries, all while desperately wanting to feel connected but too scared of getting hurt beyond repair. 🥺 I’m certainly not a fan of her mom or stepdad, and thankfully they weren’t around for most of the story. Asher - well I’m torn here because I want yo like him, I started liking him, then he pulls all that he pulls? Now, I’m back to ticked off & seriously disappointed. 😡 Jenny - absolutely not a fan & hope she chokes to death on anything🤷🏻♀️Then there’s the twins - Zayn & Blake, who pop up from complete left field. Zayn might not be too bad. Maybe, I’m seeing where he’s not as bad as Blake but he’s a lot. 🫣 Blake - yep, don’t like him one bit even if he may be as hot as Asher & Zayn. 🤬 Then there’s the (so far) supporting characters who are all interesting in all sorts of ways. I love Rylee’s interactions with & support from the Rebels (especially liking Chuck)! Now, that cliffhanger was absolutely gut wrenchingly brutal & I’ve already preordered the next.
this was fucking INSANE. literally so unhinged. but i had so much fun reading it??? also i only like chuck and idk if he’s even supposed to be in the harem lollll

Steph Macca had me hooked on Vicious Games from the dedication page. (Where are my Klaus girlies at? 👀 Iykyk) She loves to write these dark and broody men that may be slightly unhinged, but I will eat that sh*t up every day! But what she also gives us is a morally grey FMC in Vicious Games.
Rylee is not that goodie-two shoes girl, she's a girl who likes to live her life unapologetically, and I love that! Between late nights at the bar with her best friends, challenging her teachers on assignments, or hanging out at a local MC bar, Rylee likes to have a good time and live her life on the edge, which may cause some issues for her here and there. But what she really wants is her freedom, and she's going to get it anyway that she can, even if that means playing a silly stupid game with her perfect step brother, Asher. But, almost immediately the dares get spicy and push boundaries. But will it stop these two from playing? Let's be for real, absolutely not! Ooohh but don't you worry, Steph throws in a little plot twist that I definitely did not expect! But boy does it raise the stakes even more.
This story is a ride and I'm strapped in ready to go, only this ride is still being built and I need that second half of this story or I won't survive. (I know, just a little dramatic, but that ending has me needing more.) Just as things were going good for Rylee, a dare tears apart her and Asher, but she's got her MC hottie Chuck to help her pick up the pieces as they drive away to a new life... Or so we think. But I guess I'll have to find out more in book 2 of The Lies We Keep Series!!
This book was performed in duet by an all-star cast featuring Michelle Sparks, Joe Arden, Anthony Palmini, Aaron Shedlock and Sean Masters. Some of my absolute favorite narrators brought Steph Macca's words to life and it was perfection. I have no notes! Blue Nose audio knows how to pick the absolute best voice actors out there and create magic, and that's what they did here with Vicious Games! Go listen now, your ears will not be disappointed!!
A good start to a new series. It spans over multiple tropes but basically a forbidden fruit, Steamy, "dare" games tale that stretches the book.
Rylee is our FMC, and feels very misunderstood, overlooked and underloved. She's determined to move north as soon as she can.
For The past 4yrs she has lived with her stepdad and stepbrother, adding to the uninclusive feeling and mixed feelings towards Asher, the brother.
Knowing she's planning on leaving he sets up a game of dares to stall her. They all get more progressively sexual....
And there's other things to think of.... Like Ashers girlfriend Jenny.... Rys college performance, the fact she prefers to hang out at a biker bar...
And then there's the issue about the parents buying a ranch...
And the last surprise that enters that we have no clue about...
Its well written, I've not skim read as yet! The characters are well thought out. Rylee is a great Fmc. Strong headed, independent, holds her own, but also soft and enjoys a cuddle like any girl does!
Hoping this series carries on well. I read her black spades which I enjoyed so fingers crossed!!!

Vicious Games is the first book in the Lies We Keep series. I listened to this in a day which surprised me. With the intro warning of it being a just morally grey smut, I was a little worried about how much I would like it. I did, though! I thought it had more of a plot mixed in with the steamy scenes.
Rylee is a college student living with her mother and stepfather and stepbrother, Asher. She appears not to like Asher, but really she does. Too bad he is dating her ex best friend. Rylee's a hot mess- not keeping up with her coursework and doesn't know if college is even for her. I want to like Asher. At first, I didn't and then I did when he really seemed to care for Rylee, but then he turned back into a jerk.
The whole book was a wild ride. It ends on a cliffhanger, and I need to know what happens.
I listened to the audiobook narrated with a multi-cast: Michelle Sparks, Joe Arden, Anthony Palmini, Sean Masters and Aaron Shedlock. Very well done!
Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for the advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If Steph Macca writes it, I’m going to read it. I went into this one completely blind, and it did NOT disappoint.
I felt for Rylee. She just wanted to feel loved. I loved her “criminal” biker friends and how they looked out for her. I actually really liked Asher even though he was a cheating a-hole for most of this book. And I loved Chuck! After this cliffhanger, I feel like we could be getting to see some more of him and I’m not mad about it.
Rylee will do anything to move away and start over somewhere else. The only problem? She doesn’t have the money to do it. Hence a game with her stepbrother, Asher, is born. The prize? If Rylee wins, Asher will give her enough money to leave and start over. And Rylee NEVER backs down from a challenge.
But these games are a little twisted... Especially once her other (twin!) stepbrothers join in! These boys are even more unhinged than Asher. I don’t think you are ready for their games. 🥵
This book had me cracking up, hot and bothered, feeling that angst and tension, and ready to start a fight to defend my girl, Rylee.
The audio for this one was so good. I’ve listen to (and loved!) every single one of these narrators before. But I have to say, Joe Arden k¡lled it in this one! He was amazing as Asher. His emotion and angst was perfect!
I loved Michelle Sparks as Rylee. She really brought her sassy, never back down persona to life.
Aaron Shedlock was so good as Chuck! He was the sweetest of all the guys. I can’t wait to see where Aaron takes his character!
Sean Masters & Anthony Palmini were both amazing as Zayn & Blake. We didn’t get to see too much of them in this one, so I can’t wait to see what else these 2 bad boys get up to!
Okay! I am pulled in and definitely want to finish this series! I didn’t really know what this was about only that it was written my Steph Macca and I was sold. Enemies to lovers, step siblings, why choose, all very taboo and I was all here for it! I really enjoyed the FMC. She may have been a mess and kinda self destructive but it was so real and relatable. She had no shame and I loved it. But inside, of course, she was hurting just trying to escape and fill a void. I loved the biker guys she hung around and how protective they were of her, you just know there is more to the story where that is concerned and I can’t wait to find out. A bit bummed this story was only through the FMCs POV, I crave getting inside a mans head while reading! I have conflicting feelings about the MMC… I think he is kind of a dirt bag, but I guess we will see where the series takes us. I did not care for the cheating, always ICK! But loved the risky (and sexy!) games they played.
Vicious games by Steph Mecca is the first book in The Lies We Keep trilogy. Let me start by saying that the audiobook has by far exceeded the story of this book. The narrators have done such an amazing job, not only to say that some of my favorite voices are in this amazing cast! Michelle Sparks is the voice of Rylee and she did such an incredible job with such a spoiled brat that thinks she is a victim in everything she does and blames everyone around her. Asher played by Joe Arden, of course this man can read me the phone book and I’d love it, but Asher will have to redeem himself. Blake is the most real, blunt, and accurate character. He will call anyone out on their BS and no one can voice him better than Anthony Palmini. I can’t wait to hear and see more of him in the next book as I think he will be my most favorite character of this series. Chuck oh I loved him, but I had mixed feelings about him at the same time. Aaron Sherlock has dived in and brought his personality to life beautifully. At this point Sean Masters doesn’t need any more introductions, however im very happy to be introduced to Zayn. I have an eye on you sweetheart! The whole book is mostly based on a dare game, between 2 step siblings. At the beginning it was really fun and I was so intrigued, but as the story progressed there were a few moments where it got too out of hand and lost me. Also is it wrong of me that I’m more interested in Butch?! I wanna know more! I need book two so badly after that cliffhanger! Thank you Blue Nose for an amazing production of this audiobook!
Nothing like an audiobook that hits like a telenovela, here for it. And Vicious Games has an excellent cast: Joe Arden, Michelle Sparks, Anthony Palmini, Aaron Shedlock, and Sean Masters.
If Sons of Anarchy and Cruel Intentions had a baby, this could be it - lol
Rylee decides to play a game of "dare or dare" with her step brother, Asher. And let me tell you something, they are not joking around. But things start to get out of hand when feelings enter the chat along with Asher's twin brothers, Zayn & Blake.
You know I love hating on the FMC and Rylee does not escape my wrath; this girl needs to get her head out of her butt and take accountability for her own actions as opposed to always playing the victim. When it comes to the guys, none of them do it for me (maybe Zayn).
The games aspect of the story was a lot of fun and the biggest rating driver for me.
After reading Wickedly Sweet on Halloween, I wanted to read more by Steph Macca and decided to read this book. I enjoyed it, but the reason I am giving it 3 stars instead of 4 stars is because of Asher having a girlfriend. I didn't like that he continued things with his girlfriend even though him and Rylee started getting closer to each other. The ending gutted me and was not something I expected. I am going to continue with the series because I need to find out what happens.
I actually really like Rylee as the FMC she’s chaotic and in self destruct and just wants someone to notice. I feel like it gets pushed too far with the games and considering Asher won’t let her go his reaction is too extreme
I feel like his brothers are in the rival biker gang and I can’t figure out what Chucks place in the whole thing is
I really enjoyed this book, but the edition of Blake and Zayne had me reading it much faster. I definitely want to learn more about them. Also, the way everything got left with Asher and Jenny was just awkward. I definitely wasn't expecting Rylee to end up with Chuck, but I am glad she has someone at this moment since everyone and everything else is against her right now.

This book has me an emotional wrecked with all the ups and downs between Rylee and Asher. You can see how lost Rylee is in life and she is looking for a connection with someone to understand her. I love all the interaction with the Rebels, there seems to be some genuine friendships with these men. I was left so disappointed with Asher and Blake, they can be pretty mean and selfish. My hopes lie with Zayn and Chuck, hopefully they will be able to bring Rylee some peace. I can't wait to see what Drama unfold in the next book.
it hasn’t even been a full 10 minutes since i finished this and i’m already writing a review because i NEED people to grab this as soon as it’s out. this book follows Rylee, a college student who is nothing but a disappointment to her family, especially in comparison to her “perfect” step brother, Asher. all Rylee needs is some money to get out of town, and asher has the perfect game in mind to help her do just that. but how many lies can them keep telling themselves? and how long can the games go without someone getting hurt? this. freaking. book. OH MY GOD. this has to be the best Steph Macca book yet. I couldn’t put it down. just when i thought i figured out, there was a twist. i don’t even know how i feel. my heart is broken and i’m so sad, but i’m also so angry! i just can’t believe how things went down. i don’t want to give anything away, but you guys MUST read this when it comes out. holy freaking smokes.10 out of 5 starts!
There is so much I want to say but don’t want to spoil it.. this is hands down one of my fav reads to date!! I absolutely loved everything about this book.
"theres a reason people joke about women watching serial killer documentaries as relaxation. It helps ground us. It also prepares us for war" little fucked up but enough drama to make me love it!!!
Oh man! I love me some dare books. These though, were definitely not your typical dares and some were down right malicious..
I'm still not sure exactly who is going to end up as the love interests, but I have some ideas. I have a love/hate relationship with Asher. He's so infuriating at times, but also can be caring and sweet. I really just need him to get his head out of his rear.
There is some OW drama in this and what could be considered as "cheating," but I didn't look at it that way. (Cheating on the fmc, for clarification.) There is some spice to this one too... that changing room scene 👀👀🔥🔥🔥
I'm really excited to see where this one goes next. Rylee's trying to make her world right and hopefully we have her growing and also lots of groveling from the other side.. 😒
