Lily Makes a Way is another sweet story for middle-grade readers and horse lovers. It’s the second book in the Dream Pony Riders series and includes familiar characters from book one.
Lily is easy to connect with, as is her friend Abby. They are animal lovers who enjoy riding and being in a horse environment. There are many components to this story, such as descriptions of horses, what it takes to care for them, and lessons in riding. This is a cute chapter book for young girls, especially those who love horses, sharing themes of friendship, family, overcoming life’s obstacles, and making difficult choices.

#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
I received an advanced copy of Lily Makes a Way for review and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The story was about a young girl's love for her pony and also involves characters from Abby's Pony Love. The author's knowledge and love of horses was evident. For a young reader who is interested in learning about horses, it was nice to have a vocabulary and diagram of a horse's anatomy.
Horses, ponies and friendship weave together to create a lovely tale.
Lily loves horses, especially her own pony, China. When it is injured, it nearly breaks her heart...and threatens to destroy her family's pocketbook. To make matters worse, the injury isn't as clear-cut as first believed. So, not only does that mean more cost and heart-ache, the entire treatment may still leave China lame. Luckily, Lily has loving friends at her side, but that doesn't mean the decisions left before her are going to be easy.
Young horse and pony fans are going to adore this series. Not only does it involve horses and ponies, but the author weaves in facts and information in a very natural way. The appreciation for these animals radiates from every page. But it's also about family and friendship. Both of these are wholesome and true even when all parties don't see eye-to-eye. Even with the tough decisions at the end, which pull at the heart, it remains a lovely read. I received a DRC and found the story enjoyable.
This book 2 in the series is just as sweet as book 1. The friendships and relationships show that they work as team to get things done. I love the message in each book, they are so beautifully written. The love of ponies is like medicine to the soul. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. I highly recommend this series to all ages.
