A Murdered Professor. A Priceless Manuscript Stolen. A Journalist Caught in the Crossfire.
This was not the reunion James envisioned.
His friends are squabbling and keeping secrets. At the centre of the drama is a medieval manuscript.
Moments after James discovers a secret code on the pages of the manuscript, a hooded figure murders a professor and steals the manuscript from Oxford University.
While James is receiving medical attention, he discovers a secret about his past that he was never supposed to know.
Instead of staying on bed rest, James decides to leave town and uncover the truth. But, DI Alice O’Donnell puts a hold on his passport, believing James organised the murder and theft. Before he leaves for New York, James must investigate the truth behind the lab break-in.
As his investigation digs deeper, James discovers everyone has means, motive, opportunity and something to hide.
With an endless list of possible suspects, James must clear his name, find the manuscript, and identify the murderer before they strike again.
Duplicity is the second novel in A D Hay’s gripping amateur sleuth mystery series. If you like cloak and dagger mysteries filled with twists and turns, you’ll love this instalment from the series.
A.D. Hay is a passionate bibliophile and can usually be found reading a book, and that book will most likely be a murder mystery. Amelia is the author of The Lawn, Suspicion, and Duplicity—the first three books in the James Lalonde Amateur Sleuth Mystery Series and The Locked Room. The Candidate is the first book in the Rookie Reporter Mystery series.
When not absorbed in a gripping page-turner or writing her James Lalonde series, Amelia loves to travel around Europe, drink tea and rosé, and eat pizza. She is obsessed with journalism, art history and is a closet religious thriller fan. Amelia was born in Brisbane, Australia and spent the last ten years living in London, where she lives with her husband.

Man, this one had me antsy lol. So many close calls. I don't know which of the group I felt bad for the most. A huge coaster ride. Such great suspense, great characters. I'm hoping to Joseph and Alice again. They gave James such grief but they all made a good team. I really enjoyed this so much. I'm ready to see how this is going to play out.

I found book 2 a bit harder going and more convoluted than book 1 but it was clever, well written and delivered. Hay certainly chose a good title for it - "Duplicity" described it well. Although not a cliff hanger, the novel ended on a tantalizing note, which made me think that I really need to read the next one!
