A new hope for dragons. A new danger for the world…
Ophelia, High Queen of the Fae, is ecstatic when Sunny, her bonded dragon, announces that he and his mate are expecting a new egg. After all their trials and tribulations, a dragonling is more than welcome in the realm of Charassi…until a prophecy reveals that the new hatchling may bring about the end of the world.
Other dragons demand that the egg be destroyed. And some within the fae kingdom agree, including a mysterious sect determined to capture the egg at any cost. When they succeed, Ophelia will do anything to get it back. Even if it means putting her safety on the line by infiltrating the Wild Hunt.
But Ophelia’s fierce determination puts her at odds with her co-ruler, King Corrin. And their relationship is not the only thing showing cracks. A sinister power is rising that threatens to tear a rift in magic itself. With enemies and disaster looming on all sides, can Ophelia protect both her friends and her kingdom, before it’s too late?
Ava Richardson writes epic page-turning Young Adult Fantasy books. She creates lovable characters and drops them into intricate worlds that are barely contained within your eReader. Ava has written 21 YA dragon fantasy series, including her bestselling series Return of the Darkening and her recent series, Destia's Dragon Shifter War.
She grew up on a steady diet of fantasy and science fiction books handed down from her two big brothers – and despite being dog-eared and missing pages, she loved escaping into the magical worlds that those authors created. Her favorites were the ones about dragons; where they’d swoop, dive and soar through the skies of these enchanted lands.
I've read a lot of Ava's books, all wonderful reads but this series is my favourite of the lot! Although I was a bit surprised that the series didn't end at 3 books, I really was interested to see where she would go with this. And boy was I left gaping! Ava took this series and added an extra layer of "icing" on it, making it even more irresistible to devour! And devour it I did...When you get to follow such beautiful characters, you have no option but to gobble it all down!
Ophelia and Corrin, Cricket, and of course Sunny and Shadow are some of these most beautiful characters. I love the exuberance of Cricket, I adore Sunny and his comments and River, she's a force of nature! I really appreciate the way Ava introduces new characters, one such is Triel, a misguided but really sweet individual. I enjoyed him a lot.
A joyous occurrence is marred by jarring unusual events, and off we go on another adventure! Ophelia's exhilaration and joy at riding Sunny always filters down to me, and the splendour of the Dragon stronghold. I'd almost forgotten how much I liked reading about the factions within the Dragons. The hunt is on, the race is becoming desperate as they use every means to recover a family member but they encounter so much resistance and on too of it all, an evil, one filled with rage, is threatening their very existence. Truly exciting, not expected and I'm anticipating the next book with much delight.
Ava's books are always fast paced, they're always (to my mind) an easy read, a read that sweeps you away to experience every iota the characters do. Don't let that confuse you, yes, easy in the flow, easy in pacing, easy in the delivery, a definite beginning, middle and end, with tons of adventures between. And enough twists and turns to throw me soundly off balance in the best possible way. A complete tale takes shape from the onset, filing in the gaps as we go along and always reaching a heartening HEA.
There are books you want to read non-stop, because they are so action-packed that you're afraid to lose another second. There are books that you want to read slowly, savouring every description and detail, trying to imagine every vivid image the author presents you.
For me, Ava Richardson's books are both. Every time I read one of her books (especially Charassi series), I try not to hurry and spend as much time in the magical realm as possible.
In the fourth book of the series main characters face a lot of new adventures. Throughout the book they are trying (and sometimes failing) to work together. I think it is a great message to every family/group: we are stronger when we are together.
The pace of the book is relatively calm, but the amount of different events is astounding! I really hope the 5th book is not too far in the future).

Book 4 in this series takes a dramatic turn away from the previous three books. The last book ended when the evil queen (mother of the hero) was vanquished in an epic battle. In this book, the hero, heroine, and their supporters are facing two challenges: first, dramatic and disastrous natural events seemingly caused by a specific celestial alignment, and secondly, the dragon couple (the dragons of the high king and queen of the fae, the hero and heroine), finally brought together at the end of the last book, has gotten horrible news about their beloved egg. Are all these things connected? What, precisely, does the dire prophecy for the dragon's egg mean? A band of fae wants this egg so they can keep it from hatching, hoping to prevent more bad things from coming to the realm. Do they get it? Will that be the case? We're left hanging about most of these questions at the book’s end.
The hero and heroine, who'd been so well aligned before, also have a more personal struggle. He's trying to deal with the natural phenomena while she's helping the dragons with the egg. They're spending much time apart, and when they come together, they're both feeling the pressure of what's going on and don't feel like the other is being supportive. They’re often at cross-purposes, neither understanding the full situation from the other’s perspective. The dragon king and his lady are amazing in this book! They are just so sweet together and clearly care so much for their little egg that is causing so many problems (and potential problems). You could feel their devastation when they learned that their child was foretold in the ancient, terrible prophecy. The author did a great job showing that they're not just dragons, him a bit grumpy normally anyway, but hurting potential parents who already care about their would-be child. Very empathetic!
I'm really enjoying this series, and unlike others I've listened to by this author, I don't have the complete set as a single audiobook. I'm very much looking forward to listening to the next one. An excellent series by a fantastic author. I certainly recommend this book, but you definitely need to start with the first book of the series so you will understand everything better. The author actually does a pretty decent job catching you up, but you will have a deeper appreciation and care more about the characters and creatures if you listen to this series from the beginning. Highly recommended.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
I’m so excited to see what they’ll be facing in this one, because things looked almost too good at the end of the last book. Corrin’s insane, murderous mother had the most perfect ending a villain like her could get—brilliantly written. Corrin killed her, but at the same time, he gave her redemption and even respect. That was chef’s kiss.
And damn, is the girl even eighteen yet? She’s the High Queen of the Fae, bonded to the dragon monarch, and engaged to a hot Fae prince??? Holy hell, this is what I call living intensively, hahahaha. But why the hell is Corrin late for her birthday party??? YUPPPP River is expecting an egg!!!!! Still, I’m nervous—things feel too happy right now, and that usually means shit is about to hit the fan.
Being a Queen during wartime is one thing, but being one in peaceful times is completely different. Now Ophelia has to learn how to be another kind of ruler. And see??? I knew disaster was coming. Honestly, she should just let Sunny kick Wings in the Wind’s ass already! No one cares if his and River’s egg is supposedly some kind of “dragon of the apocalypse.” Star Striker is a badass name anyway!!! But damn, things are getting ominous fast—an eclipse right after the egg is announced, then an earthquake, and now wild storms? Yeah, nothing good is coming.
I’m pissed at Corrin… he’s being such a selfish asshole, only worried about his kingdom while forgetting about his actual family—River, Sunny, and Ophelia. Everyone else is freaking out about the lost egg and their missing loved one, but no… Corrin only cares about politics and his damn kingdom. FUCK THE KINGDOM!!!
OMG hahahahahaha Sunny!!!! That was EPIC. They had to change species to infiltrate the secret society, and Sunny actually went along with it. He’s soooo dramatic, a total drama queen, and I love him for it, hahahaha.
The stakes are higher than ever, the world is shaking with ominous signs, and just when I thought things couldn’t get worse… the author drops a brutal cliffhanger. I’m completely hooked and beyond grateful I already have the next book in hand!
Set in Charassi again, we plunge into a new adventure involving the High King of the Fae, the human High Queen, and their bonded dragons Sunny and River.
The King and Queen face new challenges to save their kingdom and their personal relationship. At the same time, they have to help their dragons, who are facing their own challenges.
This story is definitely a page-turner. The tale has an abundance of adventure, missteps and intrigue to suit all tastes.
All the characters need to learn to communicate better, control their emotions and learn patience. Some of the lessons learned are hard ones to bear. The character development throughout the story is excellent, with several amusing interactions between Sunny and the other characters.
The story is fast-moving with a cliffhanger ending. I look forward to the next instalment and recommend this book.

I've always been a big fan of Ava Richardson ever since I discovered her Dragon Rider Akademy books. The way she crafts complex and likeable characters is incredible. Her plots are always intriguing and keep me wanting to know what happens next.
The Dragon's King's Egg is no exception. Ophelia is an amazing, complex, dynamic character who constantly pushes through obstacles to become a better Fae. Sunny is as all dragons should be when they're bonded. I never know how much to put in reviews to avoid spoilers, but if you like dragons, magic, fantasy, and intense-but incredible reading material, you can't go wrong with this book--heck this whole series.
I can't wait to see what comes next for these characters, and what other magical worlds Richardson blesses readers with.

What should have been an astoundingly happy event ends up with worry and turmoil throughout the kingdom. Ophelia, the High Queen of the Fae, learns that her bonded dragon Sunny and his mate will soon hatch a baby dragonling. The entire realm is ready to rejoice until a prophecy reveals the dire news that this hatchling could mean the end of the world. Fear kicks in and some of the dragons want the egg destroyed immediately rather than risk annihilation. A sect within the kingdom does more than wish it as they seize the egg. Ophelia is determined to get it back at any cost!
When the kingdom needs to pull together, Ophelia and King Corrin are at odds over the matter. And while everyone is distracted, an evil arises. Will Ophelia be capable of protecting her people? Will she retrieve Sunny’s egg?
I enjoyed this fast paced, interesting, and action-packed story. I loved the characters, with their individual quirks, and the Fae world of Charassi. My favorite character, besides Ophelia and Corrin, is the Dragon King Sunny! He’s kinda grumpy and always ready to deliver dragon justice, but he’s also protective, ready to help Ophelia, can be reasonable and a little bit funny. The prophecy about a dragon egg, is central in this story. Unfortunately, prophecies are like a riddle and can have different meanings, all depending on who you ask. This action-packed book is filled with danger, Fae, The Revelation Ceremony, disturbances, destruction, dragons, High King and Queen, the Dragon Monarchy, prophecy, magic, abduction of Starstriker, mystery, Wild Hunt, artifacts, theft, sacred oil, suspense, love, betrayal, friendship, hope, duty, loyalty, malevolence, twists and turns and more!
Ava Richardson’s newest story The Dragon King’s Egg is exciting and interesting coming of age story. Once again the queen of dragons has created a breathtaking story of adventure and coming of age that includes dragons. Furthermore, she has done so in a slightly different style for her. By continuing the story of queen Ophelia. Normally, Richardson’s stories do not go beyond one character is adventures contained within three books. Yet, despite this, she has managed to create a story there not only contains the spirit of the previous books, but expands on it. I now eagerly await the next installment that will follow The Dragon King’s Egg.

Fantastic, enjoyable and full of adventure. It’s great to return to Charrissi and the happiness of a new dragon egg quickly becomes sadness with a prophecy of evil. Corrin, Ophelia and the dragons are placed in difficult positions. With growing tensions and natural disasters in the realm, different opinions and focuses are created.
Fast paced and action packed with relationships tested, this is great writing in a memorable world. Good versus evil, protection versus prophecy. Emotional, quests, dragons and troubles in the realm. Great characters, memorable moments and I look forward to the next book.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review. To begin with I really struggled to get into this book. The pase was a bit to slow to start off for my liking . But gradually it picked up and got to the stage I couldn't put it down. I'm glad I gave it a chance. I really do like books from this author. I was glad to be given the chance to review. This book will continue and I look forward to the next book in the series
I was so excited to see a new book in this series. High Queen Ophelia and her consort Corrin govern the land of Charrassi. Ophelia's bonded dragon and his consort have produced a dragon egg. Instead of rejoicing, the soon to be hatchling is given a dire prophesy. The story is well written, fast paced and the characters are so well developed. Can't wait for more. 5/5 stars.

Ophelia and Corrin are trying to save the kingdom but each with their own tasks. Sunny and River have a new egg that will need protected from other dragons as well as superstitious Fae who see it as the end of Charrisi. Will the all be able to accomplish the tasks they have taken on or will all be lost to a Prophecy that can be interpreted in different ways.

Great to return to Charassi and a good follow up to the previous series. Love Ava's books and look forward to the next in this series as Ophelia, her dragon Sunny and his mate, as well as Corrin see what's in store after they have rescued the egg. Will it survive and fulfill the prophecy or will they conquer the evil force against them and prove the evil prophecy false.

Bk 4 continues the story of Ophelia and Corrin and their dragons, Sun in the Black Sky and Shadow on the River. Sunny and River are proud parents of an egg! At the naming ceremony, an old prophecy becomes prominent and the egg is in danger!! Great read taking us back into Charassi! Absolutely exciting, intriguing and very enjoyable series!!!!
Congratulations to Ava Richardson for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
I love reading books about dragons. With all the possibilities that could happen, it makes you want to dream up all kinds of scenarios. I also love storylines that's not about sex and more about hopes and details. These books are just that and more. They draw you into the storyline and keep you interested.
Ophelia is back and determined to protect Sunny's egg no matter what the costs. I like that the books shows that people can want the same thing, like a Ophelia and Corrin, and still disagree how to get it.
Superb Brilliant new episode in the Charassi. We revisit our old friends and make new ones. Fabulous narration and am now looking forward to the coming instalments.

Each one gets better and better . The next one will be the best yet I'm sure . I can't imagine how but I'm sure it will as each one has. I am very excited to read it on my Kindle. So have I used enough words yet. I sure hope so. I want to read not write now.
This audiobook was fast-paced, action-packed, and entertaining. Mago Weston narrated wonderfully. I did not listen to the previous books which would have been beneficial to understanding the background.
Just finished The Dragon King’s Egg and OMG Ava’s writing is so immersive that I feel right next to Sonny, river, corrin and Ophelia. She is a master at magical world building and character development is impressive. I fully enjoyed reading this book so much.
Action filled fantasy with excellent characters. Classic battle of good against evil. Lots of suspense and hard to put down. Fantasy readers of all ages will love this.
Got tired of this sequel that adds little novel to the preceding books. And I tired of the teenager-ness of the protagonist. But it was not horrible. End date is approximate.
