This is book 2 in a duet.
The next book is the Hero's brother and the heroine's sister whose story is sort of told in this book but I assume it will either be a retelling from a different POV with extra information of their relationship once they left the camp or there will be consequences from the events in this book.
This one was a stretch for me.
In the first book I could understand the Hero in a bad situation and him being affected by the heroine and making changes but in this book she has returned and destroyed the camp.
After helping her he went back to dealing with drugs and the camp, nothing changed.
So at the end of the last book she destroyed the camp and this begins with the consequences of that.
There is quite a bit of violence, not descriptive but many different scenes.
The Hero as a punishment for her actions has a testicle removed by his brother.
At the reader is told is the brother reaching for a knife and saying 'hold him down'.
Later there are crude jokes about one nut etc and when the Hero and heroine are intimate the issue comes up.
The heroine is almost raped twice. No description but she is naked or partially naked, bound etc.
Scene of fighting.
At the start the Hero is furious with the heroine, he sees her actions as a betrayal and is unable to see that reasons she felt she had to do it.
But seriously the actions of the heroine were stupid, how much did she think she'd achieve?
He looks the other way when she shows up black and blue from beatings and is treated badly by the guards.
He does intervene a couple of times but is still very cold to her.
I wasn't sure how things would ever change.
The Hero and his brother have huge family background issues and they are both messed up so this is the reason for their actions.
I appreciate the anti Hero troupe being a bit diff and at times they work but I think the author pushes the boundaries a bit too much for me this time.
Also his change, his absolute fury and hatred of her was so bad at the start until almost half way through that I wasn't sure I bought the change and the huge changes he makes.
There is other woman drama.
An ex hookup kisses him and he kisses her back but when things progress he stops it. ( She unzips his pants and starts to reach for him).
When the ex sees the heroine with the Hero he defends her.
During the separation during book 1, when she left the camp the heroine tells him she dated but it never went anywhere.
He says ". “An on-again, off-again physical relationship. We were off when I was at the camp, and then when you burned it down, we were on again…and then off when you came back.” I’d always known Stasia had an ulterior motive with me, but she was easy sex, good sex, so I’d let her come back to me. “But we’re off for good now.”"

HEA.
Epilogue.

This story and characters were profound in every possible way. This story was so raw that it went beyond just romance or sex. It was a story about humanity and the darkness in the world. It was about learning that life isn’t black and white. It was about real and unmitigated love.
I will never, ever forget this story.
I’ve read every PenSky book and loved them all but this one was my favorite.
What an epic way to start 2021!!!

The second book, the camp, was even more annoying that the 1st ! I thought that the "red swow" in the 1st book was terrible but we learn at the beginning that his brother cut one of his testicule ! OMG i'm not against violence, it's a dark romance book so it happens but there's nothing in this awful act that adds something in the story except you want to throw up and shut the book. There's other forms of punishment, and the justification is because his brother is a psychopath ??? It's digusting and a grateous act. I don't understand how Penelope could entertain a scene like this.
The rest of the book is annoying as well. There's not even sexy scenes to outdo the FLATNESS of the book, there's no emotions between the characters, I didn't connect with them at all. They are both pathetic. I don't even understand how Magnus could forgive Fendus for his torture even if he saved his life at fifteen. For me Magnus is not a Alpha but a weak man in the shadow of his brother.
Other point, Magnus is more than rich and not once did he propose Raven to take her to a specialist to laser the scars on her back.
Not once Penelope mentionnes protective sex, and Raven apparently doesn't take birth control, it's not a problem, but there's no talk of a eventual pregnancy ?
I won't read the next sequel, and sorry Penelope but I don't think changing your writting is a good thing in the future

This was a great ending to this part of the series, I have read everything of Penelope Sky, and she is one of my favorite writers she never disappoints…. But I’m not so ready to read the next two books in this series since these two characters weren’t my favorite.

Magnus and Raven gave me panic attacks in this entire book. I’ve never met a more stubborn Heroine that I completely agreed with. It didn’t mean that she wasn’t annoying. Lol. This book was full of action and emotion. We never knew how things would turn and that is what made this book all the more better. The drama and anger touch you as you read. The love Magnus gave to those around him was inspiring even to those that has done him wrong. And don’t get me started on Fender. I was hoping the entire time that it was a heart in their somewhere. Overall, this was a great book. It was a little dragged out at some points but definitely worth the read.

I rated this novel as a 3.5. Penelope Sky is one of my favorite authors. Her storylines, plots and characters are well defined. Her writing skills are one of the best pulling the reader into her novels making you feel as though you are a part of the story. She's extremely talented delving into genres that are complex and different that battle between good and evil. This duet walks the fine line of good and evil, horror and repulsion with a cast of characters that could easily represent those who reside in heaven and hell. This was not one of my favorite duets of Ms. Sky's and won't be one that I return to as I have done in the past with her other novels because those stories were just that good; whereas this one was not.

Raven and Magnus are two people who are equally stubborn, equally devoted to their siblings and who are equally broken. There were times throughout this sequel that I grew frustrated and tired of Raven's one woman army to save the world from all the evil that dwells in it. Her sister Melanie is self-centered and immature. Ms. Skye took almost two entire novels before Melanie's character was granted any substance other than that of an empty headed child. Raven's need to constantly save her sister from her impetuous actions got very old. Her need to control every outcome and every circumstance to fit her agenda got too predictable for my taste. Raven has a good heart and is a good person but at times throughout the story is blinded by her own sense of justice.

Magnus' is his brother's lackey doing all his dirty work while (Fender) stays in Paris living the good life. For years he operates his camp where the cocaine is processed and prepared for distribution. Fender is a psychopath that Magnus constantly defends due to the murders of his family by their father. Year after year Magnus watches innocent women kidnapped and brought to work until they die by execution or suicide. These women are victims of rape, torture and heinous acts by the guards until each woman is silenced by submission or death and Magnus says nothing, until he meets Raven. A love story, one that started in book one gets a second chance in book 2 when she is taken from Paris a second time and returned to the camp after Magnus rebuilds it.

It's a tortuous ride at times that includes many near-death experiences for both characters but does end on a positive note. The end is no surprise due to Raven's need to right all the wrongs of the world; who once again gets what she believes to be her idea of justice. I felt there were many ways that this could have ended on a much more positive note with the use of of Magnus's money. Her decision of how the drug money wealth was to be used was a decision that should have come from Magnus, not her and was more of an ultimatum vs. a choice for him. A woman who pledges her love for the man she swears she will die for doesn't make these kinds of demand of money that has nothing to do with her. Magnus' character needed to take center stage regarding that decision, not Raven.

The book had it's moments and battled between right and wrong, the can and can do's throughout the entire series.

This was seriously the most insane intense darkest thrilling duet ( that is a part a multi book series. ) I’ve ever read.
Beyond one of the most incredible stories Penelope sky has written. This was a total masterpiece
Tearing me to shreads ,
Scaring me , thrilling me , exciting me all at the same time.
My head hurts. .
I originally went into this series thing I wasn’t gonna like, as all of Penelope sky’s books are spin-offs of each other
So when she announced we were getting something new I was nervous didn’t know what to expect and after reading book 1
I got scared right away, in a way I’ve never been scared before
When I read I can read into the book and try and piece together what I can expect in the future which I’m really good at but this was hard. You had no idea where this story was gaining to take you, you couldn’t see a HEA insight , nothing. You just had to sit there shut up and read.
Besides this being a lot darker ( in my option ) than any of the authors books I read
The story was phenomenal. Absolutely deep down incredible.
It gave me something new that i became quite addicting to and was hungry for.
The story between Magnus & Raven
At first It’s Not Great ( trust me )
What starts out as dark and chilling ends up becoming something sweet but this love story doesn’t come with out a few disruptions.
Magnus & Raven Their survival , their fierce loyality, Their love …was all just tragic, epic & beautiful.
Their survival became more dependent on each. Their loyalty didn’t come with out a price but if they had any chance of making it through the other end they were gonna need to lean on each if they were going to survive.
From BOOK 1 ( The château ) to BOOK 2 ( The Camp ) You will be hooked and flying through these pages so fast that getting a paper cut is the least of you worriers. This book might not be for everyone some might skip but I promise for those who give this a shot you will become ddicted to this story and these characters upon the first page.
These books is just another reason why I always always always come back for more. Penelope sky

Penelope Sky - Logor # Dvorac

A toga nije bilo mnogo.
Izdala me. Nakon svega što sam učinio za nju.
Sada ću morati snositi posljedice te pogreške.
Ali nakon toga odmazda će biti moja.
Nastavak knjige Dvorac. Ocena 3☆

Ms. Sky has quickly become one of my top authors to read, granted I haven't gotten a chance to start at the beginning with her books, but the ones I have had the privilege to read have been magnificent.

I absolutely love Raven and her kindness, gratitude and her way of always trying to save her sister. Her sister is very impulsive and never thinks about the dangers and consequences, she just jumps in to things that will eventually either get her in trouble or pretty much in danger of getting herself killed. If it weren't for Raven, she'd be dead by now!

This 2nd installment really had my undivided attention. I just couldn't put this book down! From the beginning all the way til the end it was just full of angst that had me practically biting my nails.

I am so, so happy to have gotten to read Raven and Magnu's story and read how it all unraveled in the end, definitely work the read!

If you love dark romance and suspense then you'll love The Camp! This is the second book in a trilogy so you are left on a cliffhanger but no worries since book 3 releases in March. So, this is completely different from Ms. Sky’s typical underworld crime romances. I originally thought this was going to be a duet, but there is at least a third book scheduled. This was an intense story and I can’t wait to see what happens next in The Boss.

This series was so hard for me to rate because I felt ???? about it while reading it and let me tell you, I just finished this series to see how it would end but what...

Now listen, I liked her series of the banker and buttons. Those are 10/10 a fun time but reading this I was just wondering why she keeps recycling the same plot that she’s had from other series. It’s just.... I don’t know. They did some really shit things to women that I’m like.... ehh. Was it the worst? No but I was like wtf?? when I was reading. Like what in the Stockholm syndrome? I dunno. I like dark romance and I think there’s a way that it’s written well but this totally missed the Mark for me.

Me pareció completamente injusto.

A little predictable and underwhelming comparing to the first book. It didn’t pull me in as much as The Chateau. A lot of the monologues and his thoughts process were repetitive. For some reasons, I didn’t find Raven as strong & confident as she was in the first book; maybe because of all the traumas she’s experienced have finally gotten to her, especially the scene where that chick what’s-her-face told Magnus Raven was a hag and he found Raven crying in the garden because she heard the whole thing and I get why, she had to live her whole life being compared to Melanie’s beauty but the Raven I really saw from TC was not depicted as this self-pity teenager who cared about what others thought of her so it caught me by surprise and it just didn’t really add up. I still wanted to finish it though because this series was good in general.

Brutal doesn’t begin to describe it

This book is awful you never ever like the “hero” or the vapid Melanie the sister of the heroine. Fender is just disgusting over and over again. It wasn’t entertaining it was just full of darkness, death and torture. Seriously a guy mutilates his own brother as punishment? Umm no didn’t like it or the preceding book in the series and can’t bear any more of Fender and Melanie. They murdered innocent women, murdered, every week, so no this was not a good read.

We have the continuation of Magnus and Raven’s story and we know that it’s going to be insane. When we left them in the end of The Chateau, everything was blown up in their faces. Literally.

We saw a really tender and sweet relationship develop between these two in the first book and only had the best things to hope of their future. Magnus protected her from everyone in the camp, managed to help her escape and even managed to get her free from the camp forever. Raven though, had more on her agenda now than ever. The strong willed woman that she is, we knew that she’d never settle for just her freedom which resulted in her return to the camp to liberate all the women, to set it on fire and get everyone out. What happens though is almost the unthinkable.

She loses her freedom and is recaptured. Her sister Melanie has to go back to Fender (which may or may not be a bad thing). Magnus gets crushed under a burning building and Raven saves him. But life has once again returned to the misery of the Camp and Raven’s life has now gotten so much harder. Magnus hates her. Wants her to suffer now that he’s lost the respect of the guards, and his brother is beyond angry and what’s transpired.

This second book as a huge theme of redemption in my mind. Mangus has to find a way to get back into better standing with his brother. We learn more and more about their past and how they came to their current empire, and we learn that as he reveals more and more to Raven.

Which of course mans that Raven’s managed to get back into his heart again. Like there was ever a question right? She takes a knife in the stomach for him when one of the guards comes after him and that endears him a bit more to her and we watch from there as he realizes that she’s not acted with malice in any of this but instead doing what she felt was necessary. That in itself gives her a bit of redemption in his eyes and we get to see what that can evolve to.

Magnus claims Raven as his and as such, she’s got protection in the camp. He takes her with him when he goes back to Paris each month and we see how their lives turn into something more. Something with a different tone and purpose. He slowly realizes that she’s only there for him. She’s got no other motive and not other intentions and that’s what slowly builds trust. But with trust comes and ultimatum, one that really proves to be impossible for Magnus to uphold.

In this story, we see so much transpire. Magnus comes to terms with what they’ve done, and pushes his brother to change his ways. Fender is driven by greed and a need to always have more that he makes decisions that Magnus tries to sway him away from. Decisions that have catastrophic impact and the world they know will be changed forever.

There’s marriage, love, death, despair and maybe a glimmer of hope in this story and it’s really sweet. We also get this story entirely from Magnus’ perspective whereas the first book was from Raven’s. I think that’s a really good way to extend the story a bit more – a way to see how things are far from black and white. At the end of this story, we see that there’s a third book coming out, I believe now from Melanie’s eyes. That’ll be a nice change since her experience was intensely different from that of Raven and Magnus. I can’t wait for that one to come out
