The last of the dragons have charged themselves with protecting the planet. They’ve enlisted the help of other magical creatures to aid them, but not everyone follows the rules.
Some have a code of their own.
One of the last dragons born on Earth, Grey isn’t happy with his life.
None of the dragons believe that the world can be saved, so why not go out with a bang?
Kelsey is living her life oblivious to the magic around her, no different from any other human in the world.
A chance encounter changes her whole world.
Kelsey sees something more in Grey, but can she adapt to this new world? Does she have what it takes to survive a danger she shouldn’t know exists?
The story, concept, and characters are all interesting. The writing isn't the smoothest though. There was a few inconsistencies that bothered me, but not enough to quit the story. Most people might not even notice these things, but I've read hundreds of books all my life and pick out to these things a bit easier, unfortunately.
Small things like the satyr being mentioned as having goat feet, when she has horse hooves. I'm fine with the satyr being female even though they are traditionally always male. But they described her as having goat legs and then described the hoof as being crescent-shaped like a horse. I figured the authors just didn't know what goat hooves looked like, until I looked up satyrs and found out that they traditionally have horse legs and tail. The satire wasn't described well enough for me to decide which the authors were going for. Another small example which is probably just me being nitpicky and disagreeing with people's fighting choices, but it still bothered me. One moment the main character might charge into a magic battle, then the next moment they'll freeze up at the sight of a spell going towards her. Then she doesn't watch the battle because she doesn't want to see the spells and freeze up. Then when she's got a plan she can charge in fearlessly again.
Interesting story here. A story about dragons can rarely go wrong, and although the dragon in this story spends very little time as an actual dragon, I found the story to be rather amusing, and of course, action packed. Heck, the dragon even breathed fire in the end, having never even mentioned it's ability to do so before then, so that was a little out of sorts, but the story itself was pretty good, and I think I might read more in this series.
Congratulations to Talia Beckett and Andrew Billingham for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
While the concept has possibilities, I just could not get interested in The storyline, the characters did not grab my attention and I did not finish the story.
