Jaid Black

Warlord

While in Scotland on a business trip, tawny-haired, voluptuous Janet Duval suddenly finds herself transported back into a distant time, enslaved by barbaric, muscle-bound men. The piercing, commanding eyes of Janet's dark-haired captor reveal that he will have his way with her -- no matter how much she protests. But Euan, a fierce warrior, feels a genuine heartfelt passion for his stunning prisoner. And without warning, Janet is consumed with desire for her godlike lover.

Ruth D. Kerce

Adam 483: Man or Machine?

Porcelain-skinned beauty Tyree Samou, a senior officer aboard the mineral freighter HCS Jenway, has had several attempts on her life while in the line of duty. So her brother, the Ambassador of Jenway, assigns Adam 483, a security robot, to guard her every move. But Adam is more man than machine. Strapping and handsome, he is skilled in much more than security -- and can satisfy all her needs. Although Tyree is the one used to giving orders, now Adam is in command -- and ordering her to let him fulfill her most erotic fantasies.

Sherri L. King

Bachelorette

After a hurtful betrayal in college by her best friend and the man she thought she loved, brazen bombshell Catherine Stowe swore she'd never trust anyone again. But years later, as a makeup artist for a soap opera star, she meets Gideon Fevere -- a CIA agent turned bodyguard hired by her employer -- and everything changes. The moment Gideon lays eyes on Catherine, he vows to seduce her into a night of all-consuming passion. And a little lust may be just what she needs to believe in love again.

Three erotic tales. First is a time travel to 1052 AD; second is a space opera involving a forbidden cyborg, and the third is a romantic suspense with a CIA agent and a make-up artist caught in a threatening situation. All were OK stories but nothing that grabbed me.

BEDTIME, PLAYTIME contains three sizzling stories by Jaid Black, Ruth D. Kerce, and Sherri L. King. Warlord by Jaid Black focuses on the relationship between Janet and Euan instead of a standard historical romance. ADAM 483: MAN OR MACHINE? by Ruth D. Kerce, is a science fiction romance with kinky heat between Cyborg Adam and Tyree and a subplot of betrayal and espionage. BACHELORETT by Sherri L. King is about Catherine Stowe falling fast for former CIA-turned-bodyguard, Gideon Fevere in Dominatrix relationship. Three different genres make BEDTIME, PLAYTIME hot and steamy and fun to read.

Two of the three stories are excellent.

This book contains three short stories, described below.

5 stars for WARLORD by Jaid Black.
Good story telling for erotica. This was a fun story, very hot and good characters. Janet and Morag go through a mist which takes them back in time to 1052. They are found by two Scottish men who take them and marry them.

Data:
Story length: 103 pages. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: nine. Setting: present day and 1052 Scotland. Copyright: 2001. Genre: erotic time travel romance.

4.5 stars for BACHELORETTE by Sherri L. King.
Wow. Wow. Very inventive sex with lots of sex toys and tying up. Usually this much sex comes with a weak story, but in this story the plot was pretty good. If you're looking for an erotic turn on, this is it. Catherine was hurt by her fiance in college. Later she looks and acts shy and mousy during the day, but becomes a sexy persona at night in the bar scene. She meets Gideon at a bar. He later sees her at work and recognizes her but she doesn't know he recognizes her. Story length: 101 pages.

Data:
Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: six or more. Setting: present day US and Australia. Copyright: 2003. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

3 stars for ADAM 483: MAN OR MACHINE? By Ruth D. Kerce.
Heavy with erotic sex. The story was a little weak. This is one of those stories that are primarily for sex with the story as secondary. I prefer a little more story and/or character development. But it was ok. Adam is a man who nearly died in an accident but was saved with robotic body parts. He is called a cyborg. Cyborgs become outlawed so he lives in secret. He is hired as a protector for Tyree, a ship's captain, thinking he is a robot (not a cyborg).

Data:
Story length: 95 pages. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: four or more. Setting: in the uture on a spaceship. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic science fiction romance.

Other Books:
To date, I've read the following Ruth D. Kerce stories.

Three short stories

Warlord by Jaid Black is your typical girl meets heavily muscled warrior from the past who instantly falls in love with her and wants only to make sweet love to her. She, after the requisite protests, falls for him and wants to be with him. It's an ok story. Quite predictable, but it doesn't have some of the weird things that are in Jaid Black's other stories (i.e. the Trek Mi'Qan series).

Adam 483: Man or Machine? by Ruth D. Kerce

I loved this story! It's the best of the three erotic stories. Heck, it's one of the best erotic short stories I've read. Tyree is a captain of a space freighter and her brother sends Adam, a security robot, to guard her. Of course Adam isn't really a robot at all. He's a cyborg; part man, part machine. He is very handsome and extremely talented in bed. The sex is scorching hot. The plot is good. It's an interesting read. I would read more of Ruth Kerce's work. She has a way with words.

Bachelorette by Sherri L. King

I've already forgotten about this one. It's not as bad as the first story, but not as good as the second one. A makeup artist falls for a handsome CIA agent who is determined to break through her defenses and make her believe in love again."

The first book, Warlord by Jaid Black, was my favorite of the three stories in the anthology. I must say that I don't read historicals, but this time travel back to 1052 Scottish Highlands really worked for me. I loved Euan. He was such a dominant alpha male. (4 stars)

The second book, Adam 483: Man or Machine?, was pretty good. However, it didn't feel complete. I felt like it was the beginning couple of chapters to a novel. Maybe it is. I have never read anything by Ruth D. Kerce before. (3 stars)

The last book, Bachelorette by Sherri L. King, was definitely my least favorite. The relationship between Gideon and Catherine started very abruptly and ended very abruptly with little emotional development between the characters. I didn't "feel" their "I love you's" at the end. (1 star)

So, overall I gave the anthology 3 stars, mainly based on the first 2 stories.

Ellora's Cave Anthol.

Warlord - Jaid Black

Two women in current day Scotland walking through an evening fog find themselves transported back to The Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands, to 1052 A.D. as brides of warlords! Loved it!

Adam 483 - Man or Machine - Ruth D. Kerce

Futuristic sci fi story ... Captain Tyree Samou of the Galaxy mineral freighter is assigned a security bot. Or is he a dangerous and outlawed Cyborg? Or human? Or ? I liked this alot, my first read of this author.

Bachelorette - Sherri L. King

Quickly becoming a huge favorite author, once again SLK delivers a sexy, steamy story of a make-up artist to an actor who is drawn to the actor's bodyguard, a no-nonsense ex-CIA hunk. Keep writing, Sherri!

Well, believe it or not I liked the first one best. Why is that surprising? Because it's historical in nature....and I'm not so into those as much as some readers...but it was the best! Manliest man of them all. I'm a sucker for a good hero - especially this one because of his reactions of receiving oral sex for the first time - that is so fun!

The second and third stories were pretty decent. Definitely hot sex scenes all steamy and good. Plots were meh, but that's not why I really read erotic novellas now, is it?

I'm giving this 2.5 stars. There are three stories in this book. They were okay to read. The stories are so short that it's really hard to get into them. The last story I thought was the best because it seemed to have more of a plot therefore more believable. Until I came to the end where the sex got really kinky. I had to google some of the things she was describing. That was a bad idea because it really grossed me out. Plus I really do not like BDSM. I never enjoy reading it. It just makes me think "ouch, that's not nice".

Overall it was an okay read.

Ok, so I'm not sure how I did it, but somehow, I downloaded this sucker on my blackberry instead of the book I wanted, but I ended up starting to read this over the lunch hour and was rather surprised. I think my eyes were probably pretty darn big, but it sure was interesting! While this isn't my normal genre, it sure was entertaining and seemed to have something for a lot of people.

So as normal...my rating is in there as a rating for the genre, not comparatively of all the books that I read. :)

This was as decent trilogy of stories. I really loved the first two stories and would probably have giving this book 5 stars but the third story was a bit slow and predictable. I found myself being confused as the final story really did not flow well. There was some sort of disconnect and the story seemed broken. The lead male seemed hot but that was about it. The story just had no substance.

I quite enjoyed these stories. They're well constructed, have characters that are about as interesting as they can get within the confines of a short story, the stories worked and the sex was explicit, so if you dont' like that be warned.

It was a reasonably fun read but not deep in any way. Not a bad way to while away some hours.
