Mismatched partners. A hunt for pirate gold. When sparks start flying, will they discover
love is the true prize?
Vicky is set on an adventure. While studying a museum painting
linked to riches lost at sea, the bold art historian is ready to dismiss a muscled hunk who’s
gorgeous… but so rude. But when she learns her employer expects them to be teammates
looking for sunken loot, her irritation wars with waves of undeniable attraction.

Miller
has buried a broken heart under a tough shell. Discovering a simmering chemistry with his
beautiful companion, the Navy SEAL fears the job is too dangerous for the inexperienced
treasure hunter. But after he bungles his attempt to leave her behind, the normally unflappable
military man struggles to deal with her fury and their extremely passionate
kiss.

Refusing to be shunted to the sidelines, Vicky flies to Bermuda to play her part in
their charade of a couple on vacation. But when secrets threaten to separate them, Miller worries
circling dangers could drown any chance at a future.

Can the fiery pair find the X that
marks a happy ending?

I was very excited to read this book because I love Bermuda and have been there many times. Unfortunately, the author had not only never been to Bermuda, but also she didn't even take the time to do any research about the island. She never even looked at a map of the island. She placed it in the Bahamas!!! Bermuda is 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean!!! She wrote about mountains and jungles. Bermuda doesn't have either. She had the hero jogging 10 miles on a beach. Not in Bermuda!!! The topography is wrong for that type of beach. The story would have been interesting if not preposterous. Spoiler alert: [How did the bad guys know within a day what the hero and heroine were doing in Bermuda? Who leaked the info? Never explained. How did they find treasure lost for 400 years within hours? Really????] There was also no mention of the many reefs surrounding Bermuda which have caused many shipwrecks over the centuries. How did the hero and heroine know that they found the correct wreck? The book was a total disappointment. Never again will I read another book by Sassy Monroe who is too lazy to research her subject!

Stopped at 7%; needs a lot of editing

While the premise intrigued me, the book needs professional editing. Problems that need fixing: The POV switches between paragraphs instead of staying tight for the entire chapter. The dialog sounds like teenagers wrote it. There is way too much passive voice. There are fragments, comma errors, spacing errors, and awkward verb tense changes. The male character is described in a long paragraph that is annoying. The female protagonist seems like an idiot teen instead of 30 years old.

The book may have a bang-up plot, but the numerous problems that are rife in the first few, brief chapters, suck the joy out of reading it. I have no desire to deal with distracting errors when I want to read for pleasure.
