Run or fight—I’m not the same frightened girl they silenced anymore.
I did it—I’m out. After a year imprisoned and tortured in Larkwood Academy, I’ve finally escaped, leaving destruction in my wake. Now that I understand what Larkwood is actually doing, now that I know just how deep their evil runs, they’ll stop at nothing to find me and keep me silent.
Since getting locked up, I’ve wanted nothing more than to go back to my old life. However, my old life, my old friends, don’t fit the way I remember. With the men I’ve fallen for, Wade, Knox, Brax, Kit and Deacon at my side, I struggle to figure out where exactly I belong. Should we run? Hide? Fight?
Can I turn my back on everyone and everything I’ve come to care about over the last year for my own safety, or will the siren’s song of Larkwood Academy draw me back to my own destruction?
Jayce Carter lives in Southern California with her husband and two spawns. She originally wanted to take over the world but realized that would require wearing pants. This led her to choosing writing, a completely pants-free occupation. She has a fear of heights yet rock climbs for fun and enjoys making up excuses for not going out and socializing.
Series ender was pretty unsatisfying. There’s a lot of wasted time here. A lot of the plot lines and relationship conflicts that have been developed the last two books were too easily wrapped in this last book. So much time was spent on these issues for 2.5 books only to have them wrapped up in a few pages? Lame, very anticlimactic and unsatisfying. I only liked Brax and the h in the end too.
I was kind of hesitant to see how the series would close since last books are always tough but the way that this series ended and all the spicy scenes and really just seeing this group come together was everything I could’ve wanted!!.

What a satisfying way to end a series. I am so content with this. Like, yes. It was so nice. I loved it. Greatly appreciated it. Wade, I love you more than anyone else, you silly goofy little golden retriever boy. I’m so happy.
I genuinely don't know how I feel about this book.
I wasn't super excited to read it and every time I put it down I sort of had to make myself pick it back up, but once I was reading I found myself getting lost in it pretty easily.
What plot existed was decent but it felt like so little actually happened and the book was just padded out with lots of filler. The characters spent so much time self-reflecting through internal monologues that I got really bored. I found myself thinking "yes, yes, we get that Hera's a totally different person to who she was before Larkwood and the guys all love her so much, can we get back to the story now?" Because we just read about those things over and over and over again.
Alright, after writing all of that out I guess it's clearer how I felt about the book 😅 idk why I felt so mixed to begin with, I guess because you'd expect a book with so many negatives to be a DNF or complete slog to read? Yet somehow I still found myself getting through it easily enough, so something about the writing still managed to hook me. That's why I haven't rated it lower despite this review being so critical 🤷♀️

This a why choose fantsy romance and it sounded very interesting so I wanted to give it a try but I was a bit skeptical because this is my first series I've read from this author so I wasn't expecting much but boy I was pleasantly surprised.. It had great world and character building about humans who are scared of powers they don't understand and people turning into Shades who usually have some kind of powers.. I'm already in love with the characters.. I love Hera who was naive about the world she lives in and got a hard hard slap of reality that she never expected when she got turned into a Siren and honestly I felt for her plight.. This is a why choose series and I love the guys! (I think the author put every kink in here!) You got Wade who is a Void and who is younger and less confident but who is funny, Knox who is an incubus and attractive but was untouchable with his own self-hatred, Brax who is a Berserker and he's an a** who didn't care about anyone but his brother Knox, Deacon who is a science experiment and he's a bit older and is a guard for Larkwood Academy, Kit who is a Wendigo and a lot older but doesn't look it because he ages differently and he's powerful and he seems unfeeling and uncaring.. They all have a few things in common, they all have inner demons and they are all monster to the world and they are all drawn to Hera.. I was so invested to find out what happens and I'm finally glad how it all came together! In my opinion it does need an edit as it had a few grammar mistakes here and there but nothing I couldn't look past.. I do hope there's more to this series or maybe a spin off because the Warden brought up some pressing issues at the end that weren't looked upon..! With all that being said I really did enjoy this series I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!
I have been eagerly anticipating reading this book as the second book sort of left the reader hanging. This book was well worth the wait. I loved it. As you get into the story, you see how the relationships between Hera and the guys. You expect them to run into challenges as they try to get away. What you don't expect is that half way thru the story, the path the reader assumes the group will take, suddenly takes a right turn and heads down a totally different path. Lakewood Academy inadvertently, made it possible for Hera, and the 5 men she became involved with, to become a family. And that is a problem for the warden who runs it. The battle is just starting. I loved this book so much, not just because it closes the story started in the first book, but also because of the suspense, intrigue and a beautiful reverse harem romance. NOTE: This is not a stand alone book, so I strongly recommend if you have not yet read the first books in this 3-book series first. And you won't be disappointed that you did read them first. It is an amazing series!.

I received an ARC of Screaming via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
This was a great ending to the series. It wasn't a simple fix for everything and there was a lot of character growth and relationship development.
Knox, Wade, Brax, Kit and Deacon all learn to be themselves. To be happy with who they are and what Hera means to them. The relationship and character development was great and I loved watching the characters change throughout the book.
Hera gets a bit of a blast from the past in this book and is able to reconize the changes she's gone through in the last year in Larkwood. She comes to terms with who she is and where she is.
The plot was fantastic. There was only one time where I felt like something was a bit too easy, but it wasn't excessively large. I'd love to see more in this world, whether it be Moa, Soshi or even Lilianna.
I hope to read more from Jayce Carter as this was a fantastic series.
Let me start by suggesting readers being with the first book in this series before starting this one. With that being said, this book did not disappoint. I devoured it and was happy with the ending. If you loved Hera, Brax, Knox, Wade, Kit and Deacon in the previous books, you will love them even more in this story. This story will also introduce new shades that you will enjoy. I don't want to give anything away, but this story has action, suspense, twists, surprises, reunions, regrets, forgiveness, romance, steamy scenes and parts that will make you laugh. Deals will be offered; well kept secrets will be exposed and the fight for survival and freedom will not be easy. This series would be perfect for paranormal romance readers. It's one I will be recommending to my book loving family and friends.
The final book in the "Larkwood Academy" series definitely did not disappoint. This book is filled with action (both in and outside of the bedroom), suspense, interesting (new) characters, and the build-up to a big end-scene. I loved how everything came together, and the twists the story took to get there.
Relationship development in this series is different for every connection Hera has formed with her men, and I enjoyed watching it all unfold. Knox and Kit found a place in my heart in this book, just as well as the other guys did in the first two books.
Screaming ended in an interesting epilogue, and it leaves a lot of options for future series in the same world (or at least I hope so ;-) ). I enjoyed this series and the world it is set in; I can highly recommend it to all the lovers of paranormal RH series.
I absolutely loved how this series ended. There was so much action and plot twists in this book that I wasn’t too sure what to expect when it came to the ending but I feel that it was definitely fitting for the series. I loved the little reveal and character depth from the warden - I still don’t like her but it kind of helps you understand how she got to that point. And she met the fate deserved. I’m a little sad to see the end of this series though. I have loved watching the characters and relationship grow and from that ending scene there is still much growth to go. Highly recommend the series to anyone who likes supernatural reverse harem romance with some action, mystery and lots of emotion.

After escaping from Larkwood Hera, Brax, Knox and Wade find that they are still in a prison but another type. They find that the shades are feared and try to stay hidden away from most people. The life that Hera thought she wanted is not the same, as she has changed. When Kit and Deacon come looking for them and join them Hera decides that she is the one who will change how shades are perceived and will attempt to take down Larkwood. We find how Brax, Knox, Wade, Kit and Deacon feel about Hera and how she has helped them find peace with what they are. This was a wonderful way to finish the series. Totally enjoyed reading all three books.

I am so happy to have read this 3rd book, if you haven’t already, I urge you to read the first 2 they are just as amazing as this one! It is filled with action, suspense, and a lot of twists and turns you will not see coming!
After spending a year in that he** hole, she and her men have escaped, more like survived, and got away to tell the story kind of thing. I honestly don’t want to give too much away, but I will say this will have you sitting at the edge of your seat wondering what the heck is going on, where are they going, and what they are going to do.

Im disappointed, I expected more, more depth more connection more meaningfulness and especially a better ending.
I was bored even before the halfway mark, everything felt anticlimactic, drawn out, depthless and undeveloped.
I think there was a lot of words used but non of them carried anything meaningful I thought this was going to be really good but the books were just a little too long with nothing to really keep me that interested.
I thought she was going to get her voice back, I thought there was going to be a groundbreaking change, I thought the system would change but in the end, I guess I’m just disappointed.
This was the ending I never knew I needed from this incredible series. From the first chapter of the first book I’ve been hooked and desperate to know the ongoings of Hera and her amazing men. Written wonderfully, with plenty of detail and a witty, heartbreaking storyline. This series is in my top 5 of the year.
Hera is a strong willed babe, and becomes even stronger in this book. Her heroism and dedication to her found family is amazing.
Please read this series. You will not be disappointed!.

It turns out that escape was just the beginning not the ending. No matter where Hera, Knox, Brax and Wade go they will always be hunted and haunted by Larkwood and those left behind in the hands of great evil. So the choice becomes run, hide and try to forget or go back and ensure change by bringing down the Warden. Epic just epic!! Tons of action, twists and surprises and a seriously fantastic battle for the future of shades. Absolutely loved it!.

Reading the ending to any series is always hard, you're ready for some answers but you don't want the ending just yet. It wasn't an easy fix, and there was an amazing relationship and character growth. We were able to see the change in the characters and I love how Jayce writes her books. Each character grows into these amazing beings, and it's so great to see how much they change! Hera is also able to see how much she's changed through her time at Larkwood. She comes to terms with everything and it's just so crazy to read how much she's changed.
This is probably one of the first RH (reverse harem) stories I read that I didn't find quite as annoying as most. I won't go into my whole "I-hate-harem-tropes" rant, but I did enjoy this trilogy more than I expected. I loved reading about the different types of shades and their abilities, and watching drastically different people put aside their grudges to work together for the same cause.
I’ve really enjoyed this series, the story telling is fantastic and I’ve been invested from the first book. Picks up from the events in book 2. Loved seeing Hera come into her in this book, her character growth has been really good. Also loved seeing the men find acceptance in themselves and their relationships with each other and hera. Well deserved HEA too. One of my favourite series this year.

I love this series!! I've been waiting for this book after the last one ended in a cliff hanger!!
I love these guys and their relationship with the Siren! Each has their own reasons but they're all hooked just the same and none of them mind that she is with the other guys. If you haven't read it yet, read this series it is amazing!!.

Absolutely loved this series!! Was different from any other RH series I have read before. Was so great to see the growth that Hera went though during the series!! Also loved to see her relationships grow with each of the guys. Each of the guys Grew as well. They all became more condition themselves and really accepted who they were within themselves also how they fit within the group. They really made a family!! Such a great read that I highly recommend!!.
I love this series and I am glad Hera and her men got their HEA. It was hard fought. Although the fight didn’t last nearly as long as I wanted. I wanted Hera and the men to be more proactive in bringing light to the mistreat of shades. The book was mainly them on the run and then given the opportunity to leave and be happy or go to the academy to deal with the warden. Idk I just felt like there should have been more done.
We have action, suspense and friction. Hera and most of her guys have made it out of Lockwood. But what will happen when the Warden sends the other two to bring them back? Why are the low level shades living like they are? Can she get away or will she get caught? What will happen if she has a choice to fight or get away? Why did her parents not stand behind her?.

The end of the trilogy is not some wrapped up present with a bow. It's loud explosive and sexy, searing you with each page as you get closer to the end. It was an amazing experience reading this trilogy the end did NOT disappoint period. I found myself on the edge of my seat and worrying my bottom lip as they finished what the started. I will say it again Jayce Carter knows what she's doing!
So much was thrown into the conclusion of the Larkwood Academy series. What with all of the brilliant plot twists and turns. All of which leading up to one hell of an ending. For me its the relationship Hera (FMC) had with not only her guys - Wade, Knox, Brax, Kit and Deacon but also the Shades she met along the way. As well as revisiting old friendships and confronting family too. It was a cracking way to finish this series and i enjoyed reading every book in it
They made it out of Larkwood but their fight isn't over yet. The fight of their lives was just beginning. Hera leads this battle for a triumphant conclusion to this great series! One of the most interesting series that I've read in a long time!.

I loved this series and was excited to see how it would end. I thought I knew how the story was headed but then it changed. It was exciting, steamy, and I loved the ending. This was such a great reverse harem series. Can't wait for more from this author.

Awesome read, well written and I loved the character development through the series. This book is a page turner and has action, suspense, romance, twists, and steam. I loved how it ended and how it leaves possible options for a spin off(crossing fingers). Highly recommend to paranormal RH series readers.

Hera is on the run with Knox, Wade and Brax, but she’s left Kit and Deacon behind at Larkswood Academy. How will they survive in the world, and will there be repercussions for Kit and Deacon? Will they all be together again? There’s no simple fixes in this story, and that’s why I loved every bit of this book. Wow… just wow… what a great ending.
