Seven sins. Seven hosts. One city purged. If vengeance is all you know, can you really let it go, or succumb to your rage?

Willka has signed a pact with Valdina, a demon of Infernos, driven by a burning desire for revenge against the city that took everything from him. Given a second chance at life, he’s been tasked with enacting an ancient right to purge the city of sin for both the angels of Hevellum and the demons of Infernos, as an example to all of Eldara. Willka eagerly accepts and sets out to enact his vengeance by burning Lumen Magnum to the ground. However, along his journey he is warned of the cost of his rage. Should he proceed with hatred in his heart, his soul will be enveloped in sin. He will be condemned to a fate worse than death. The memories of abuse, his life as a slave, and the losses of those he loved dearest drive him forward. In the end, will his past give him strength or be his undoing?

Adlin(A.J.) Kennedy Torres is a writer first and an anime artist for fun. She enjoys Fantasy and Science Fiction stories. Adlin particularly loves to write Fantasy stories and getting immersed in books like The Goddess of Nothing at All and Aletheia. She’s loved Fantasy stories ever since she was a kid and picked up The Lord of the Rings and Eragon for the first time.
Nowadays you can find Adlin in the hot and horribly humid sunshine state of Florida, hanging out playing video games with her husband and chasing her son around the house with two needy dogs and a relaxed cat.

This was a fun and interesting dark fantasy. The story follows Willka, a complex character whose thirst for vengeance drives the narrative forward with intensity and heart. Despite its short length, the story is rich with world-building and emotional depth, exploring themes of sin, redemption, and the dangerous cost of unchecked rage. Torres does well in balancing action and introspection, making Willka's internal conflict as engaging as the external stakes. The writing is smooth and easy to follow. If you enjoy dark fantasy with morally complex characters and high emotional stakes, this novella could be fun for you.

Giving myself 5 stars now because I can and I don't care about those who get upset when an author does this to their own books.

New:
Book 2 has gone through a cover change. I'm trying to change it here but as usual, GoodReads isn't really author friendly. Please know that the link below will have the correct cover and that you'll be able, or should be able, to see it everywhere else, especially my website. Thank you for reading <3

Old:
THE STORY'S EBOOK HAS BEEN UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE NEW VERSION OF THE CALL FOR FINIS: PRIDE. PHYSICAL VERSION IS RETURNING IN 2024.

The Call for Finis: Lust is book 2 of 7 of my New Adult Dark Fantasy novella series. We will follow different characters in each book facing their own trials and tribulations. Book 2 is a short adventure story. A gay elf travels to what could be the forest of where his mother was from to attain objects to help him take vengeance on a city that made him into a slave and made his life miserable. However, once he found happiness in another elf, their lives were quickly cut short by a jealous master.

The story is only 8 chapters long, 74 pages in total. It is available in ebook and paperback on Amazon.

Trigger Warnings for violence similar in scope to other fantasy books. Mentions of assault and abuse are included but are not graphically detailed. The book also explores the ideas of vengeance and how far are you really willing to go to find peace within yourself.

If you're interested please buy, read, and leave a review. Reviews really help indie authors like me get noticed and reach a larger audience. So if you have a chance help this small time author out. Thank you for your interest in The Call for Finis.
