Chasing Shadows: Genesis
In 1924, Sarah O’Connell, a socialite and spiritualist, is brutally murdered. The local authorities do not have a single suspect. After receiving an anonymous letter, Jarek Videni, a young intuitive from New York City, travels to the American Midwest to help solve the case. However, Jarek learns quickly that there is no single suspect in the case because everyone in the house is a suspect… even the spirits.
This unsolved case is surrounded with mystery, horror, and a dark presence that fills the family’s home and calls out to Jarek. This presence is watching… waiting… and listening.

I don’t even know where to start. This book was absolutely fantastic.
Suspenseful and paced perfectly! You can tell the author did his research with the historical settings of the 1920s, prohibition playing a role as well as the height of spiritualism at the time.
The story is shrouded in mystery from the beginning and it will leave you guessing until the very end.
Im honestly blown away by how quick I read this book. I just could not put it down. I highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy ghostly thrillers.
This one is definitely going to be a staple in my indie reads for the year.
Ps. Zachariah, you knew what you were doing to people with that ending. Im going to need the second book in this trilogy asap.

Really enjoyed this book! The perfect blend of horror and mystery. Jones writes with confidence and skill and manages to keep the reader gripped throughout. A brilliant and thrilling debut!

A great story, informative and entertaining and true to the time period. It's beyond just sensing spirits and helping them cross over...it's figuring out whodunnit and where the evil is! What is Jarek going to do next? I can't wait for book 2!

I stumbled upon this book when I was waiting for Ryan and Dave to get their hair cut in San Diego. Randomly, I walked across the street into Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore in the Rosecrans Shopping Center and the author, Zachariah Jones happened to be promoting his book. Listening to him prompted me to buy something I typically wouldn't read. It is so much more fun to read a book when you have met the author. It was a fast mystery read I enjoyed on the plane ride home.

Author Zachariah Jones comes out strong with his debut paranormal thriller, 'Chasing Shadows: Genesis'. Set in St. Paul, MN in the 1920's, I was hooked right out of the chute. The author pulled me right into St. Paul... 100 years ago! I love his writing style, as it is descriptive without going overboard. His characters are strong and believable. The story is captivating. I love the spookiness of the paranormal activity, yet it still allowed me to sleep at night! I found the book difficult to put down as I needed to know what would happen next. I feel that Jones has a strong first novel and I look forward to Book 2 in the Chasing Shadows trilogy.

I want more. The twist at the end of the book left me wanting the next book and I cannot WAIT. I'm ready for round two.
As for this book, the author does a good job of revealing just enough information about the murder and what is happening to keep you thinking that you know who is a suspect but not quite convinced. I felt like I was following along firsthand with Jarek - learning about Samuel, Annie, Leona, and Rose.

Fantastic book. Great pace throughout the entire book that was suspenseful, right up to the very end.

Wow. This novel was such an informative read when it comes to how people who are sensitive are able to feel, see, or hear what many others cannot. I loved the mystery of it and the paranormal portions were perfectly creepy. Also, the ending...holy plot twist. Definitely did not see that one coming. I can't wait for book 2 to come out. Jones did an amazing job with this one.

WOW! I'm not even really sure what to say about this as I'm still stunned by the ending. I certainly can't wait to read the second book!! Set in the Jazz Age, but had a very gothic Victorian feel to it. And since I absolutely love both eras, I fell in love with the world-building. Such a great book!!
