By Design

Rate this book
At last, a definitive work on design by a leading biblical creationist! Today, the ID (intelligent design) movement is capturing headlines (and igniting controversy) around the world. But in the process, many are coming to think that a credible challenge to the dominant Darwinian naturalism of our time means backing away from a clear stand for the truth of the Bible. Now creationist heavyweight Jonathan Sarfati, whose Refuting Evolution has the most copies in print of any creation book ever, challenges this mindset head on. In the process, By Design is set to become a classic of the creation movement in the same vein as Dr Sarfati s comprehensive Refuting Compromise, which is arguably the most powerful biblical and scientific defense of straightforward Genesis in existence.

Evolution... natural selection... or what about just Intelligent Design? Most people think of the big things when exploring the creation of the universe, i.e. big bang, monkeys to humans, etc... But when you look at the atomic level and compare the necessary physics of interactions with irreducible complexity, one can logically conclude that an intelligent designer is more probable than any other answer for the origin of everything. And science, of all things, can prove it.

Excellent work showing the impossibility of many, many structures in biology having evolved because they are far too complex. Many structures, and more as we can study at the sub-cellular level, have complex inter-dependencies, each piece of which is marvelously complex, but utterly useless without other very complex structures. Even if even one of these structures had evolved, they would have been selected out, because on their own, they are at best useless, but are often harmful or at least energy draining without the other components.

A good study of "Intelligent Design" or "Creationism", offering numerous specific examples and explanations to illustrate what Creationists believe what they do, what problems exist within the theory of Evolution, and more.

This book is a bit technical for the casual reader (though not impossible).

So cool! So many stories about the intentionality of creation and creatures. Definitely recommended.

A great book about natures great design, that so clearly points towards a Designer, the God of the Bible, rather than being created through small and long period evolutionary steps by natural selection, mutations and chance. Yes, natural selection and mutations have their place in nature, but they have clear genetic limitations. Jonathan Sarfati gives many great examples on design and complexity, and irreducible complexity, that defies evolution into the garbage can. Although the book can be partly technical and hard to comprehend, it gives overall a great and interesting insight into the complexity of body parts from animals to humans, to their life cycles and incredible body functions. Dr. Sarfati has a gift in communicating in clear termes, expcept when things get too technical, but maybe I'll learn more of the technical details as times goes by.

Intelligent, well-researched, edifying.

If you want to keep believing in evolution or atheism, do not read this book! Dr. Sarfati nails evolution to the wall. Sadly, many people wil refuse to accept much of the information in this book because they have bought into the faith system of natural, material evolution. This book is a great resource for Christian apologists or anyone wanting to know how to talk to people about the truth of Biblical Creation, as it is in direct and irreconcilable contrast to evolution.
