My butt pads are sliding under my shape wear, I had to starve to fit in this dress, and the last place on earth I want to be is on a date with Walker Svensson. Entitled playboy. More money than sense. Abs you could grate cheese on. Damn, I would stab someone for some brie. This is truly the date from hell. Walker is full of himself, somehow has bribed all the wait staff, oh and he showed up to the date with a giant chocolate cake shaped like a raccoon. Don’t get me wrong I like cake as much as the next girl but seriously?!? This is a nice restaurant. Grrrr ! Too bad I can’t throw my drink in his face and walk out. For one, I think the padding in my bra would fall out if I stood up. More importantly, I desperately need Walker to fall in love with me. Yeah, I can’t believe it either, yet here we are, friends. Am I a gold digger? Nope. Just desperate and broke and about to lose my home. ...One I share with more roommates than a grown woman should have along with a pack of ferrets that my client refuses to pick up. The article I plan to write about the whole debacle will launch my writing career. I’ll finally be able to pay off my debts! But I have only ten days to do it. Cue the panic. Now I have to spend time with a man I despise. At least Walker’s hot. Not that I’m ogling his chest when he’s not looking. Or maybe I am. A little bit. Sue me, I shouldn’t drink on an empty stomach. And when he catches me checking him out? Let’s just say it’s not the worst date ever.
This is a stand-alone, full-length, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy. Hot guys with adorable little sisters, a dumpster-diving nonna, and a book bestie you can panic-drink with. Lots of STEAM and all the laughter!
Greg WTF are you doing?! I know this is Walker and Ana's story. But as a die hard fan who has been following this family since the beginning, I was so hurt and disappointed in Greg's actions.
Walker and Ana are both pawns in this story. It's funny and sexy.
I can't wait for the next book. At this point I want the Holbrooks, Frosts, and Richmonds to come together and destroy Greg. I want him humbled and alone.
Putting the FUN in dysfunctional, one Svensson brother at a time. I can say with absolute certainty that one of the things the author writes very well are dysfunctional family dynamics. We’ve seen them through the lens of previous books, but I think this story may have taken them to a new low. I really liked that this book has taken some of the archetypes we’ve seen previously in the series and given them a bit of a twist. Ana’s still a hot mess, but she’s a surprisingly functional one. Walker’s mostly the typical entitled jerk, but he’s got an oddly wide romantic streak. I loved these two together, even though I knew exactly what was going to blow up in their faces. On the other hand, the ‘how’ caught me off guard and I’m a little desperate to see how the fallout from that is going to shape future stories. If you’re looking for Mel Brooks-level shenanigans and over-the-top characters, you can’t go wrong with a Svensson brother. (Or a Frost, or a Holbrook.) I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
Walker meets Ana at an event he's holding when he steals desserts from the dessert table, and she is a caterer there. He is immediately taken with her and wants to make her his flavor of the month. Ana is broke is pet sitting, catering, modeling, and doing other odd jobs to make the mortgage on her condo and illegally subletting it. When she meets Walker, she has no desire to date him, but that changes when she realizes she needs to catfish someone for an article that will help her afford her mortgage. She starts dating Walker despite not wanting to date a billionaire because she thinks they are all shallow and self-obsorbed like her father. After a couple of dates and run ins she realizes Walker is not a bad guy and he adores his sisters. The two of them start sleeping together, and she continues to date him not only to write her article but to find out if he is planning on doing something to her friend Belle's company Artemis Investments. Walker, who doesn't know his brother is planning on taking over Belle's company and just thinks that Greg wants Ana's dad's company shares because it will make him a lot richer, helps Greg secure the stocks. Ana is heartbroken, thinking she was used, and writes the article, which doesn't paint Walker in the best light. He still wants to be with her, especially after reading her whole article, and comes up with a way to help her even if it will not get her back. I loved Walker and that he was a lot like Liam, a Svensson brother who did not take himself too seriously. I loved that he let Luna be a little unorthodox and still encouraged her to come out of her shell. He was a great big brother to all his sisters. Ana was so sweet but not as naive as some of the other heroines, and I liked her and Belle's friendship and how they were so supportive of each other. Belle and Greg were left in a bad place, and I'm wondering how they will overcome him buying her out and him dating Mags in the next book. I can't wait to read the final Greg/Belle book.

The roommates and odd jobs weren't going to be enough to save her home. So, Ana hatches a plan to write an article, her target is Walker Svensson, and she's going to take him down a peg of two. Walker has never met a rich socialite like Ana, but she's fun, funny, and his little sisters like her. Ana and Walker both have an agenda, they never expected to fall in love, but someone else with his own agenda could very well destroy their chances of a relationship. This is a hysterically funny, very steamy romantic comedy with surprising twists. Ana is absolutely wonderful and Walker is helpless to resist her. I adored these characters. They're well written, compelling, and very believable in the actions and reactions. I loved this book, and recommend it to other readers.

Quote: "I had sent Ana home with the raccoon's severed head. She was not amused."
This story was a fun unpredictable ride. I loved it because of the entertaining dialogue and because most of the time I had no idea what was going to happen next.
Ana is a billionaire's daughter but she's broke, trying to make ends meet by subletting her apartment, petsitting and doing commercials. She is not talking to her father, who is definitely a character. (That's a polite way to say he is a jerk who is about to go a bit nuts.) Walker is a rich guy she first meets while he's stealing cookies. He wants to go on dates with her but Ana is reluctant at first. However, he wears her resistance down. They live in New York which apparently is a very small town because wherever Ana goes, Walker just happens to be there at the same time. They both have a secret agenda for the relationship which gets complicated when real feelings start to crop up.
This book is part of a series that I have not read. The romance stands alone fine but I think it might have been helpful to read the other books to get more background on Walker's family as it felt like I was walking in on the backstory in the middle of the movie. His father lived in some sort of polygamous cult until he ended up in jail, and Walker has a LOT of siblings and half-siblings and it was a little difficult to keep them all straight in my head. But his care for his younger sisters is cute.
Steam level: several explicit scenes.

Since I discovered this author I have been charmed by her writing style. Witty, good structure, accessible. These are books that can be read as a standalone, but they are so intertwined with each other that it is more fun to read more books in this series. I don't think it even has to be in order, I don't know all the books in this series either. It revolves around a large family, -half-siblings, who have the same father, but with different mothers. They have emerged from the sect their father founded and have built a successful existence, although they still struggle with the baggage from their father. A brilliant idea, because all members of this family now get their story. The Svennson brothers are not always the most sympathetic main characters, earning money in a ruthless way is of paramount importance to them. This is Walker Svensson's book. So far I think he is the most sympathetic Svensson brother. He's also not averse to making money in a shady way, may not be too smart when it comes to his older brother Greg, is not always too honest with the women in his life, but it turns out his heart is in the right place, he is charming and funny and sweet to his little sisters. Anastasia is an interesting and funny character. When they start dating, each with their own intentions, love blossoms anyway. Thanks to brother Greg’s unscrupulous actions, things almost go wrong. A reoccurrence in these stories is the love /hate relationship between brother Greg and Belle, a character from another family and series. As I mentioned, I am quite a fan and enjoy reading these books. The only thing I do regret is that there is some kind of pattern to it. Tough ruthless billionaire and the, somewhat chaotic, financially struggling female protagonist who melts the billionaires heart. Although the heroines have spice and and a backbone, I would like them to beat the heroes at their game. That's partly because I find the ending of this book quite sad.. Walker and Anastasia find each other, but Belle has to deal with great setbacks thanks to Greg. Anyway, I can only hope that Belle comes back stronger in a future story and puts Greg in his place.

Dates, Cakes and Ferrets, Oh My! Author Alina Jacobs has written another Svenssons masterpiece. This storyline feathers Walker (a billionaire food stealing hunk) of the Manhattan Svenssons family and Ana, Model, blogger, and caretaker for five Ferrets who’s owner refuses to take them back…which is a good thing as they have the cutest habit of showing up at the most unexpected times and locations. As with all Ms Jacobs stories, we have an effervescent senior (Nona)who loves to dispense purls of wisdom, particularly about clothing, shopping, dating, etc. But it’s Luna, the middle school age sister living with Walker who steals the show. Her paranoia is endearing and fixed. It’s through her we are given a small taste of living in a cult that we know has a dark side and that who we laugh with and at, are trauma survivors. Even Greg, who we keep shaking our heads whenever he appears in a story, knows he would be better with Belle if only he would get out of his own way. But he seems he can’t help interfere and manipulate his brothers and their love interests. Walker and Ana unfortunately doesn’t escape Greg’s shenanigans either. Let’s hope that what doesn’t kill or poison them will make them stronger and realize their HEA. I’m wholeheartedly recommending this book for your reading enjoyment, pleasure and satisfaction. PEACE.

I'm really glad I discovered the Manhattan Svensson series as I'm really enjoying these books. It was fun to watch Ana and Walker gradually become a made-for-each-other couple. The banter between the brothers remains amusing, their devotion to their sisters heartwarming. The five ferrets and comments by Nonna, a secondary character, added humor to the story. While this book followed the formula of moving from a very unlikely couple to one deeply in love and just right for each other, it still remains enjoyable to see that change take place. Ana and Walker had undeniable chemistry, but although steamy sex scenes add a spicy layer, I think this book overdid the number of them included; they began to seem repetitive. At times those scenes followed very closely upon each other, sometimes by only a couple of pages. Also, although I'm looking forward to the next book, the resolution of Belle and Greg's story started in The Hate Date, I have to say that Greg was even more obnoxious, overbearing, smug and just plain more terrible in this book than in any of the preceding ones. The secondary character Mags, added in the last book, doesn't help his persona either; she's even worse than he is, and he seems irredeemable at this point. But since the blog for the next book says there's a HEA, I guess the author will clean him up somehow. I certainly hope he comes to see the light about Mags!
Anastasia and Walker set the pages alight. 3.5* This novel was one of the best in this series. The never-ending Svensson family’s story is always entertaining, with many laugh-out-loud moments. Spot on character development and description and excellent use of the language and vocabulary are typical attributes of the author. Add to that a very good and imaginative storyline, intelligent dialogues and steam, a lot of steam!! So why didn’t I give it a 5* rating? Because the book had finished just about on an HFN ending, leaving so many questions, situations, and fates unanswered. I realise that leaving a little intrigue for the next instalment is necessary, but I felt a gaping black hole was left, without even a distant reference to a resolution of the lives of some of the characters in this book. Nevertheless, the book is well worth reading.

I really enjoyed this one. The horny older woman in each book was starting to annoy me but I actually didn't mind Nonna in this one. Walker's relationship with Luna is so cute. I loved Enola and Annie in the first Manhattan Svenssons book but then was a little disappointed that in the following books the sisters are just kind of interchangeable and not fully fleshed out. I did not feel that way with this one.
The one thing that threw me off about this book was when they mentioned Belle's backstory. I didn't realize that she had been involved with helping the girls escape from the commune. Especially because in the first Manhattan Svenssons book when the girls interacted with her I didn't think they knew her prior to when they moved in to the condos (though I do remember being surprised the toddlers knew her name but assumed Greg told them to call her Ms. Belle when he promised the surprise).
I love the way the author brings two people together who you don’t think will ever fall in love. I don’t even like these Svensson brothers at first but I end up falling in love gradually just like the heroine! So much fun and the only romance in my life right now. The story is formulaic in a comforting way. You can see the disaster coming from the beginning and it’s so satisfying when everything comes out in the open. But will love triumph and forgiveness reign? You bet! I’m getting seriously worried that Greg is actually turning out to be an irredeemable tool though! We get to know Belle in this book and my sympathies shifted to her.
Don’t usually hear much about the Walker brother. He is the guardian for one of his rescued sisters from the cult his father runs. Ana is out of a job and has 10 days to cover the mortgage on her condo. She has a bunch of friends that live with her, what will become of them if she gets evicted? She runs into Walker when she catches him cleaning out the dessert table at a snooty function. His rationale is that nobody will eat anything; the men drink and the women eat lettuce leaves. His sister is a real hoot in this story! There’s plenty of wheeling and dealing going on with the older brothers. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. I did want to smack some of the characters upside the head on more than one occasion. Greg was a major jerk. I really want Belle and the ladies to come up with another option rather than deal with Greg. Walker was great with his sisters. Ana was sweet with them as well. The ferrets were great. Nonna was hilarious. There was a lot of this story that I adored. I liked how the story ended but I wanted an epilogue or something more. I recommend reading this book.

Jacobs never disappoints. What makes my heart grow another size is when I get to see characters from other books in the series pop in and out of the story. The Svenssons are an interesting bunch and are always involved in the best of antics; I must admit I wish all siblings loved each other this much. Ana is a wonderful character. We saw her before in another series, and she is a great addition to the extended clan. I loved every bit of this and can’t wait for the next book.
This book had me laughing from page one! Um who steals desserts from a party? The again, what catering staff member confronts a guest about taking too many treats?
No lie, there characters are hilarious!! If you're in the mood for something sweet and will put a smile on your face read this one. Be warned though, you're gonna look like you belong in the looney bin because you're laughing at your device.

My butt pads are sliding under my shape wear, I had to starve to fit in this dress, and the last place on earth I want to be is on a date with...
That opening line in the description made me laugh so I decided this would be a good romantic comedy that would entertaining and make me laugh. I wasn't wrong, it's entertaining, will give you plenty of laugh out loud moments and leave you with a smile on your face.

I really enjoyed this latest book from Alina Jacobs.
Ana and Walker's story made me laugh and smile from the opening scene. I really liked them together. Their story is full of humor, romance, and enough Svensson family craziness to keep things interesting. It's always so much fun to return to this series and catch up on what's going on with their family now.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
The Svenssons - a dysfunctional family of billionaires. And Anastasia - the daughter of a billionaire father also from a dysfunctional family. She needs money fast - so catfishing Walker Svensson seems like the perfect solution! But business - and love - complicate matters! Funny, entertaining, with a great cast of characters that I have followed through several stories - absolutely loved it!.

A dessert stealing billionaire. Did I mention a gorgeous billionaire? And his name is Walker, one of the Svensson brothers. And she rejects him. What? Reject a Svensson? That never happens!! OMG this story was so funny. Ferrets. Too many people renting rooms in a condo. Broke. Desperate. Catfishing. Terrible dates. A crazy billionaire father. A secretive Svensson. Destroying companies. Can't wait to see just what this brilliant author comes up with next. I just know that it will be gooood.
Game of cat and mouse It's a real game of cat and mouse between Walker and Ana. Each wants to fool the other, to be the winner of their strategy, while getting closer, losing themselves in their game of fooling. The tension mounts from page to page. It's an excellent romantic comedy that I recommend. It's funny, moving, tender and hot. I look forward to the sequel to find out how Belle and Greg will interact again. This story line was well-written, with excellent pacing and entertaining characters. The engaging story line made this another great addition to the Manhattan Svenssons series. Ana and Walker’s relationship feels real, adorned with fun banter and the requisite number of misunderstandings that needed to be overcome. The story pulls the reader in while laughter and romance entertain. I look forward to what the author brings us in the next book of the series.
I thought this was such a fun book. The chemistry between Ana and Walker bordered between lust, longing and hate (mostly on Ana's part). The interactions between these two made me giggle and at times tear up. Though this was a standalone novel, it was fun to read on about the Svensson brothers and sisters - I can't wait to finally find out about Belle and Greg.

I know some authors read reviews, so I always tend to be overly nice when I dislike a book. I’m hoping I can do that here. This book was….not good. It had quite a few 4 & 5 star ratings so I was excited to read it. It was like a weird mash up of way too many different books. Nothing fit together to me. Just all around not good. The smut was just meh, and the word p*ssy was wayyyy overused.
This was a fun book, I really liked Ana, she was sweet, caring, and loyal and in a lot of financial trouble. I love Walker, he is a sweet talker with all kinds of charm, a wonderful big brother to his sisters, fun but never wanted anything serious until Ana changes everything. Unfortunately in this story Greg is terrible, worse then I have ever seen, what he did brought tears to my eyes for Belle. I don’t know how he is ever going to be redeemed. There are way more fun and romantic parts in this book than the sad parts so I’m glad for that and I do love the ending.
Ferrets bring a lot of fun and laughs to this story. Walker and Ana both have their own agenda and fall in love by accident. Fall in love with the Svensson's sisters even more. Luna and her foil hat because she is so paranoid because of what happened in her life. Meeting Ana helps her let go of some of her past. I love the parties and the cake that is next level weird especially for a young girl.
Ana and Walker have a lot in common. Both have manipulative fathers and unusual family dynamics, to say the least! As always in this series, there are amusing family and friends, ranging from eccentric octogenarians to wise for their years children. Throw in five adorable ferrets and a nasty neighbour and the scene is set for chaos! Ana and Walker’s relationship feels genuine, with lots of flirty banter and a few misunderstandings along the way, to spice things up. In the background, the ongoing hostility between recurring characters, Greg and Belle, reaches new heights - I so hope their story is next!
This book was delightfully fun and another wonderful entry in this series. Ana and Walker's story is cute, sweet, angsty, zany, steamy and charming. Over the top in the best possible way, this book is sure to bring a smile to your face and some much-needed lightness into your heart. This is my frank, freely posted review.
Alina Jacobs has outdone herself with this book! Walker and Ana are the perfect couple once they stop trying to catfish each other! Add to this the rest of the Svensson clan, five ferrets, Nona being her outrageous self, and a whole lot of steam and you have a book that you can’t put down!.

More twists than a corkscrew .. if you have read any of the other books you will know how great these stories are if you havent you are in for a treat. So many plots and sub plots and manipulative billionaires not to mention ferrets you will have to keep tissues nearby to wipe the tears of laughter .

I love this authors stories. This is the best one yet. Walker and Anastasia have similar back gounds, both with distant and manipulative fathers. There are lots os laugh out loud moments. The ferrets and Nonna add the the chaos. Brilliant funny stories.
