The Specialist is book five in the Men of Hidden Justice series by Melanie Moreland. This is the final book in this series. It is Egan Vulpe’s book. We met Egan in the previous book and I was already in love with him so I’ve been so excited for this and it did not disappoint.
Egan Vulpe is a man of many talents. He is an artist, he owns a gym, and he works for Elite Security. He is also The Specialist, a man who can put together the explosives to bring down a building with ease. He used to work for Hidden Justice but no longer does. Because now the focus of Egan’s life has changed. For two years, Egan has been in love with Sophia but has acted as her friend, patiently waiting, or maybe not so patiently, until she was ready to admit that she loved him in return.
Dr. Sophia De Salvo is Damien’s cousin (from the previous book.) She is an Emergency Room Dr. and is currently working the night shift. We previously met Sohpia when she was the in house Dr. for Hidden Justice. She lives on the same floor as Egan who is her best friend. Sophia has lost much in her life and isn’t willing to risk her heart again. But Egan is persistent. When he makes his intentions clear, it’s impossible for her to deny her feelings.
Egan is pretty much every fantasy come true in a hero. He’s so protective, so swoony, so sexy. He loves so big, wears his heart on his sleeve. But he’s also tough, scary if you threaten someone he cares about. Egan has a dark past and just when he and Sophia are finding the happiness that he has dreamed of, that past threatens everything he holds dear. But his enemy has underestimated Egan and will pay for what he has done.
I have loved this series from the start, loved every one of these couples, but I think Egan might be my favorite. What I loved most about this book, though, is the way Melanie wrapped everything up. You will walk away with a huge smile on your face and your heart full.

I had ALL THE FEELS when I was done with this book. I knew Egan would be a special one from previous books in the series because I love it when the guy falls first. In this case, the guy is pining for the girl, and he would do anything for her. It doesn’t get any swoonier than that.
When you add to it the other guys in the series… Perfect. The perfect ending.
"The man of many sides. Dark and light rolled into one. Deadly when he needed to be."
Egan brought in the swoon, and the more I read, the more I fell in love with him. I have no idea how Sophia resisted him for so long! Like the other Men of Hidden Justice, he’s all about protecting what’s his—and don’t you dare touch her. His patience, his love… It was so good.
"My God, she was beautiful. Sitting at my counter, eating my food, wearing my clothes. I wanted this every day. I wanted her to want that."
Like all other women in this series, Sophia is strong. She’s aware Egan wants more from her than to just be her friend, but things from her past stop her from letting go and just being with him. Until she can’t fight it anymore.
"I am telling you I would do that for you. For us. That is my job, Sofia. You are my world."
Egan is an explosives specialist, and he can blow up a building as easily as I can bake a cake. Or… he used to; he’s no longer that person. He owns a gym, a security company, and he even paints. And he’s there for Sophia, patiently doing everything he can to show her how right they are, but it takes time.
In fact, it’s been more than two years, and he’s still by her side, whenever and wherever she needs him.
Sophia only wants him as a friend, but he’s not giving up that easily.
"Was it worth the wait?"
"Every moment. I would wait a lifetime for you."
He makes her dinner. He helps her relax and sleep after her long hours in the ER. He’s there, so much so that there comes a time when she can no longer resist him. Remember how patient he was? Yeah, not in the bedroom, though. This man is hot, and I loved that she was right there with him.
His past is a problem, though, even more so when it comes back to haunt him and puts everything on the line.
"Dammit, woman, you know I would. I would give you anything you asked me for."
I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s a lot endangering their relationship and their lives. But there’s never any doubt of how far Egan is willing to go for Sophia, and the extent of their love for each other absolutely stole the show for me.
The other heroes in the series make an appearance, and oh, how I missed them, their presence, their friendship, and their love for their respective heroines and their families.
"To love—for saving us all."
If you haven’t read any book in this series, go back and read them all because they’re all worth it. Love really can bleed into the darkest heart and change everything. It saved them, it brought them peace, and it filled my heart. I loved them all.

Egan come as a surprise for me as he was always in the back, we knew he’s there in the elite series but I didn’t knew where he came from and his origins made me love him even more. And after the first chapters when he cooked all the delicious food, I’m craving that as well.
He’s that alpha man who’s always present, always looking out for everyone around him and especially for the ones he trusts and loves. But he’s also this soft guy that has a big heart and loves the heroine with all his being.
Their love story is beautiful and steamy. There’s one particular scene that stays with me.
There’s suspense, there’s a growing relationship and there’s so much love.
The epilogue made me laugh out loud and reminded me why I love this series so much.

This one is easily a new favorite by Ms. Moreland. The author has penned the type of romance you can’t help but devour despite wanting to savour every word. There have been many times where I’ve made the comment of a hero stealing my heart after I’ve finished a book. Egan did the opposite… there was no stealing to be had. I handed it over willingly right from the get go. His character had intrigued me and when I finally got my hands on his book I was floored by his thoughtfulness, protectiveness, sweetness. He surprised me in all the good ways. He jumped ranks and skyrocketed to the top of my Men of Hidden Justice list with all his amazing qualities. Don’t even get me started on his bedroom demeanour. Holy smokes, talk about night and day. He is a panty-dropping, smooth-talking, sexy man who knows how to set explosions in and out of the bedroom. He ignited my heart with his disposition. He set my soul ablaze with his love for Sofia. He undoubtedly made me swoon over and over with his Romanian accent. His patience is endless and the undeniable love he showed Sofia made me swoon nonstop. When the pair finally connected it was explosive. Egan is every-effing-thing. He possesses every quality I loved about each of the men of HJ all wrapped up in one sexy, delicious, Romanian package. The Specialist is a highly-charged, action-packed, swoony romance book that deserves infinite stars. It is beyond earth-shattering and will set your pages on fire.

Going into this audiobook had me all sorts of excited. I knew I loved this story and characters but I am in awe with how much this audio entranced me. It was a pure eargasmic experience and the pleasure was definitely all mine. I was team John Lane as Damien in The Watcher, but John Lane performing as Egan in The Specialist blew me away. Melanie seems to have taken every quality I love from each of the Men of Hidden Justice heroes and created the masterpiece that is Egan. I adore all the characters in this standalone series but Egan Vulpe definitely lives rent-free in my head. Sorry not sorry. John has taken this character and made him even more loveable and swoony than I thought possible. His deep, rich, baritone voice, the accent, ‘iubirea mea’ had me feeling all sorts of emotions but most of all unadulterated ecstasy. Maxine Mitchell’s performance as Sofia is spot on. You can feel the emotions through the cadence and inflection of her voice. Maxine narrating Eagan’s part in Sofia’s chapter can’t not be mentioned. She was phenomenal with the accent as well!! Bravo! Outstanding job by this duo as usual. I expected nothing short of perfection from them. This audiobook would be equivalent to a restaurant rating of a chef’s kiss, Michelin star performance. Now pair that rating along with Melanie Moreland’s words… unlimited stars from me all around.

I never wanted this novel to end. I have absolutely loved this series, and Egan and Sophia were the perfect end. I tried really hard to take my time with this one, but at the same time I couldn’t put it down.
I never really know what to say after reading a Melanie Moreland story. I just loved it so much.
Sophia, a strong independent women, scared to let love back in. Egan would wait forever for Sophia to let him in to her heart.
You will not at all be disappointed. If you have read any of the other Hidden Justice novels expect that it will be filled with fire, strength, love, and heart.

I can't believe this series is over!
I'm sad but Egan and Sofia were the perfect way to end it! Egan has been in love with Sofia since he first met her but she has some Hugh walls up to protect her heart. When he finally gets her to give their relationship a chance, his past comes back to haunt him.
I absolutely adore this series!! Egan and Sofia are friends who finally give into their feelings and when they do? Look put for your Kindle!! Lots of suspense, lots of steam, lots of really sweet moments. And the accent!! I loved this book and it's epilogue had me in tears. I'll miss you Men of Hidden Justice!!

Wow! This book was amazing. Wow!!! January 2023 is going to be a great month, book related lol.
Egan Vulpe is pretty swooning and easy loving, including his caveman attitude (we all love that, I know). He’s a man with many talents but loving Sofia is his main reason in life. Sofia is really a stubborn and strong woman, everything Egan want. He cracks and demolished all her walls until an “US” is part of then, he’s very persistent. The relationship between them is so romantic and sweet and perfect and steamy it’s amazing. She’s his “Iubirea mea” and he’s her “mio guerriero” (I love always learning new words with Melanie’s books). All the suspense and twist and turns brings more perfection to the story. Men of Hidden Justice is definitely one if the most amazing series. I don’t want it to end!!!
The epilogue was so good and the second epilogue was mouth watering. They have space for me in the island???

Egan’s love for Sofia is breathtaking. His world begins and ends with her. She is his woman, his life, his love. With his words and his actions, he shows her this each and every day. Sofia is right there with him. She tries desperately to protect her heart but she too is madly in love and denying it is futile.
Watching them give in to their feelings and live their love for one another was exactly what my romance loving heart needed. It was a pleasure to read and I didn’t want their story to end. Egan stole my heart and I don’t want it back. It’s his to keep.

What a way to end the Men of Hidden Justice series!!! Egan rounds it all out and was the perfect one to end this series all together. Egan is just everything. He has a little bit of Matteo, Marcus, Julian and Damien in him. Plus he gets Sofia. She finally admits that she does have feelings for him, but of course as in true Hidden Justice happenings things happen. They get through it of course on the island where they are all one big happy family of their own making and live as well as live happily ever after. Having glimpses of the others make it just so much more of everything. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… Melanie made me lose sleep because I didn’t want to stop reading and one cannot go wrong with any of her books.

I DON'T WANT THIS TO END!!! I love love this series and I am so bummed this is over! Egan! Sweet , quiet, unexpected, protective, rare, under the radar dangerous and sooo soo in love with his girl, Sofia. We met these two in the other books and as much as you can tell how much he's crushed on Sofia, we never knew how in love he was with her until now. This man, he absolutely is soo in love with her. But will she see him the way he sees her. She is his future, his life and if only she can see that. I love to see how the male character falls first. But, his rough past has caught up with him and threatening everything and everyone dear to him.
I LOVED this story. MM has created a series with so much emotion, depth, spice, suspense and fast heart beating moments. This had it all. I could see it all in my mind, like watching a movie. If you haven't started this series yet, do it!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE

After loving this whole series, I had no doubt that the final entry and Egan's story would be amazing, and it absolutely was. To start, I have to say that Egan is such an incredible character. Swoon worthy is simply too lame and does not even begin to do him justice. Trust me when I tell you that this guy is going to make you fall and fall hard. Sophia to is a wonderful character. She is smart, capable and has a bit of emotional baggage that makes her very easy to feel for. Together they make a couple that is simply everything. Sweet, funny, poignant and hot, these two are the pinnacle of #couplegoals. Backed by an engaging storyline that is filled with danger, suspense, action and twists, you just really can't go wrong with this book and in fact, this whole series. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.

He has had feelings for Sophia for a while and has been showing her with his thoughtful actions what she means to him. Just when he convinces her to let him be more than her friend his past resurfaces with a vengeance which places everyone he cares about in danger.
Sophia has loved and lost so she is cautious about letting anyone too close. Considering I was hesitant to read this series initially, I could not wait to read the final book in a series I have come to love. The Specialist was a wonderful addition to the Men of Hidden Justice series; it was steamy, suspenseful, romantic and intense. From the first chapter I was riveted to the story that Melanie Moreland wove.
This is Egan and Sofia’s story and oh what a story it was. As I have come to expect from Ms. Moreland she has written a strong storyline with characters who you cannot help but become invested in. As danger rears it’s head I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading.
Sofia is such a strong, independent woman who has been badly hurt in the past and has erected a wall to protect her heart. However Egan loves her and is determined to be there with his love and support, prepared to wait until she is ready. I fell hard and fast for Egan, a totally swoon worthy man.
This is a story of finding love, of family, not of blood but family none the less and what one will do for those you love. This was a fitting conclusion to a series that I am so glad I had the courage to read even when I wasn’t sure. Melanie Morealnd has written a story that will capture your imagination and did not hesitate in any way.

The final instalment in the Men of Hidden Justice series and I’ve got to say, I’m a little bit emotional. What a journey it’s been, a rollercoaster ride if you will, starting with The Boss and ending with The Specialist. Egan and Sofia have been on this journey with us throughout, but only as friends. Sofia never wanted more, no matter how hard Egan tried and how much he pursued Sofia. He was persistent though, and, I’m happy to say, it paid off. Unfortunately his past comes back to haunt him in the worst of ways, and he must rely on the help of his friends and Hidden Justice to bring down the evil that threatens him and his Sofia. A super feel good romantic suspense with some added action, and of course some sexy time in the mix. I loved Egan and Sofia together, and it was great to see all the Men of Hidden Justice get in on the action, and as an added bonus you get the ‘final glimpse into men of hidden justice’ just follow the link at the end of Egan’s story and you’ll be transported to the island of your dreams. Highly entertaining and totally addictive. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

He’s most devoted to winning Sofia’s heart, and has contented himself to the long game, knowing that despite the shared chemistry, Sofia’s past has left her more than a little wary of emotional entanglement.
Melanie Moreland writes beautifully about Egan’s patient wooing, and we witness as Sofia and he slowly build a friendship and more. When unsavory elements get wind of Egan’s past, it is deeply satisfying to see that their relationship and the loving bonds they have with others in their sphere give them the strength and ability to prevail.
A stellar story and fabulous close to this exciting series.

This book had one of the best main male characters I’ve read! He was as alpha as they come, but honestly very vulnerable. He left his past behind, hid it to protect those he considered family. His co-workers knew he was there for them, time and time again, but I don’t think he realized just how much that meant to them until they were willing to risk it all for him. Egan was as tough as stone, yet would do anything he could for others, especially Sofia. He has loved her since first sight, but he could never win her over. Sofia is a strong, independent woman who needs no one. Or does she? Life has taught her that loving someone hurts. Egan took care of her like she was a piece of fine china. Always putting her first. Can she risk her heart for him? When the past rears it’s ugly head, Egan and Sofia have to decide if they can see past it and work together to have their HEA!! Loved this story!

The finale book in this series and I enjoyed it and was so happy Egan finally got his girl. We met this couple before and lets say Sofia was hard to get since she turned down Egan a lot and only wanted to be friends because her past of peoples dying, so she didn’t want to give in.
That didn’t matter to Egan he stood in the friend zone until she was ready he didn’t leave her made sure she was taken care of showing her he wouldn’t leave, she finally finally accepted that she wasn’t cursed and went forward and they started dating. Egan though he won the lottery already but sadly the pass comes back to haunt you and it wasn’t leaving.
Danger and blackmail is what the past is trying to do and the couple fight together until someone is taken. It’s a great way to end a series.

Such bittersweetness when an amazing series comes to an end. This is the final book in the series and Ms. Moreland made it a great one.
Egan Vulpe has been in love with Sofia since he first set eyes on her. He was immediately smitten and there was no going back, he was in deep. He made it his mission to try and sweep her off her feet with his charm and kindness and show her how she should and would be treated. It took quite some time for Sofia to see that though, and to lower her walls to let him in…because reasons. But Egan could wait. He’s patient - he only has eyes for his Sofia. Slow and steady wins the girl, right?
Egan is a man of many talents. Not only is he an expert with explosives, he’s also an artist, he owns a gym, runs a security company, and he also dabbles in making fragrances. Add on top of that, he’s a romantic. Oh…and he cooks! Can you say book boyfriend perfection? Plus the way he gets certain words and phrases mixed up is absolutely adorable. Did I mention he has a sexy accent? He does.
I always love Melanie’s heroes. Egan is so caring and protective and sweet and devoted…yet all sorts of badass when he needs to be. And just a little bit naughty in the bedroom. *heart eyes*
In the midst of this sweet and passionate romance are some really evil guys looking to cause some serious trouble if they don’t get their way. Intense and suspenseful moments kept me on the edge of my seat. An entertaining and action-packed storyline had me turning the pages and never wanting to put this down.
It comes as no surprise to me that this book delivered all the feels. The bonus epilogue was the cherry on the Men of Hidden Justice sundae.

Five Heart Melting Stars!
This is the last book in the Men of Hidden Justice series and it was bittersweet reading it. I actually read it slower so I could savor these wonderfully protective men and the charming women who tamed them.
Egan had an ugly past he was not proud of but had changed and had worked with HJ. He had been in love with Sofia for some time but had treaded gently, taking his time. As he finally makes his move, danger lurks, threatening the couple. Egan works hard to take down Sofia's walls while also keeping her safe. These two are perfect for each other and I am rooting for their HEA!
The island the men of HJ have all retired to is so idyllic, it makes me long for such a place to live. Reminds me of the BAM compound, in another of Melanie's series.

They work together to silently fight crime, each lending their own skill set, and find love along the way. This author will pull you into the story and have your routing for her characters. She is a clever writer...you know what’s happening, but are spared all the gory details. The men are modern day vigilantes who are protective, swoony and sexy!
In the Specialist, Egan Vulpe is a demolition expert and his past somehow comes back to haunt him. He’s now an artist and gym business owner, but is summoned by some bad guys who threaten him and the woman he secretly loves. Sophie is a medical doctor and the cousin of one of the main characters from this series, Damien.
They are neighbors and I loved their slow burn and how he wore his heart on his sleeve hoping she would love him in return. His Romanian and his broken English and the things he would say to her made her (and me) weak in the knees. This giant of a man who was an expert at blowing up things was a bada$$ as well as sweet and vulnerable, and simply irresistible.
Sophie is smart and strong, but hesitant to give her heart away and I loved their slow burn, how patient he was, and how they had such a deep emotional connection. It is not easy for these two as they try and navigate who is making threats, and she knew she could trust him. This story is a suspenseful romance with a mystery built in and a very happy ending that ties the whole series together.

They are neighbors and I loved their slow burn and how he wore his heart on his sleeve hoping she would love him in return. His Romanian and his broken English and the things he would say to her made her (and me) weak in the knees. This giant of a man who was an expert at blowing up things was a bada$$ as well as sweet and vulnerable, and simply irresistible.
Sophie is smart and strong, but hesitant to give her heart away and I loved their slow burn, how patient he was, and how they had such a deep emotional connection. It is not easy for these two as they try and navigate who is making threats, and she knew she could trust him. This story is a suspenseful romance with a mystery built in and a very happy ending that ties the whole series together.

It's a good thing that none of my book boyfriends in Melanie Moreland's books are in the same series I'd have to break up with someone. This is by far my favorite HJ book! Egan and Sofia's story was everything I needed right now!
It was intense at times every emotion between the main characters raw, honest, tense.
Then there is the danger you can feel it in Egan's dialogue, in his dreams with the fantastic imagery provided. Or maybe it's just me and the gypsy's my Grandma told me she was sending me to live with.
Egan's Grandmother is a favorite secondary character for me in this story, although her time on the page is small her role in the book is pretty big.
There is so much to say I feel like I might explode, but no spoilers!
I really couldn't put it down and finished the entire thing in one sitting and can't wait to read it again.
