Darius wouldn't claim writing his wedding vows was his toughest mission yet, but it sure as shi-
It wasn't easy. It wasn't easy at all. And he wondered what his knucklehead had against the traditional vows. But it didn't matter. Darius had his task. He was gonna do it. He'd write some good vows or whatever. Maybe their kids could help...with drawings and spillage. Christ.
Deep breaths.
*As this is a companion piece, Prepared: Auctioned #6 should be read first.
I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly. Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve. Additionally, I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.
Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.
I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There's time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.
My heart was not prepared for the avalanche of feelings that came with reading and remembering Darius, Gray, Justin, Jayden and little Cass. How I love these wonderful characters, scratch that, this family that lives in me...
Reading these notes from Darius filled me with so much love and affection; they are everything! The details are perfect; it's as if we were there.
I'm not a person who likes reading about couples with children, I admit, but sometimes the connection with parents is so beautiful that I'm completely won over, and Justin and Jayden are the perfect example of that!
I don't know how I missed D. Quinn's Field Notes, but I'm so glad I found it today because I really needed that warm feeling in my heart***
I would like to preface this review by reminding everyone to please do some research on this series — and ensure that you read up on all of its trigger warnings — before beginning it.

I LOVE WHEN AUTHORS DO LITTLE THINGS LIKE THIS! I’M OVER THE MOON RIGHT NOW & MY HEART IS SO FULL. <3
THIS WAS PERFECT, I LOVE DARIUS + GRAY + THEIR LITTLE FOUND FAMILY. (TT—TT)
This was so cute! It's a very short collection of Darius's writing in his journal, trying to write his wedding vows to Gray. We get all his cute ramblings, his to do lists, drawings from the kids, etc.
I purchased a signed physical edition of this companion text to the main Auctioned series on a whim, and don't regret it for an instance. It is only worth reading if you've read the full series, but if you have, this is an amazing glimpse into the full character of Darius Quinn, not just for the lead-up to the wedding in Prepared.
“being with you, gray, is more than falling in love with a person. it’s been a journey for me too, to realize who i can be, and to take pleasure and pride in how you see me.”
it’s over. it’s literally over. i bursted out crying when i flipped on the last page. it’s so hard to put into words the emotions that you go through when you read darius and gray’s story about trauma, healing, hope and love. this is a series that will stay with me for a long time.
I absolutely loved this! Darius and Gray are my favorites and this was a perfect addition to the series! I loved reading Darius's thoughts and how much of a softie he is for Gray and their kids!
