The Next Mrs. Wimberly is my darkest psychological thriller and I loved writing every moment of it. As an author that writes both thrillers and romance, I like to explore the various depths that relationships can take us. In this novel, I really enjoyed weaving some horror elements in there as well. I hope you enjoy a story I loved telling!

“As long as you have breath in your body, all you have to remember to do is…just breathe.”

3 words: Shocking. Dark. Gruesome.

You think you know the man you married. But happily ever after isn’t always guaranteed. Brooke has struggled ever since her parents died in a tragic accident, leaving her alone and heartbroken at a young age. Until she met the charming and handsome surgeon, Noah Wimberly. Noah’s first wife died mysteriously and her body was never found. Can Brooke handle what’s coming for the next Mrs. Wimberly?

There are so many elements to this story, which is more like a nightmare. It’s your worst possible fears come true. But just when you think things couldn’t get worse, they do. And they keep getting worse.

I absolutely adored the cameos by Parker, Serena and Sage! Monica got me at the end; I realized I had stopped breathing at that final scene. Phew. 😮‍💨 Outstanding storytelling, once again!

Ahh screw it screw keeping my thoughts all bottle up in .. I I absolutely can't keep it all locked in. I can't keep thinking about it over and over where it's going to completely leave me shuddering and boiling mad which even after I write this review it will be leaving me boiling mad ...
thanks @monicaaryaauthor for my complementary E arc... just so yall know just because this book was gifted doesn't effect my opinions all opinions are my own .

Where should I begin ohh yeah let's start with the triggers because this one has quite a few. Red market, abuse , and so much more goes on in this book. You have our MC Brooke who meets her future husband who she thought was perfect... but even I knew something since the beginning about this freaking creep was messed up. One could just tell by the way he talked to her just kind of creepy and dark and just F UP .This dude was seriously and is a psychopath and I hope he burns in hell. I was reading this at the doctor's office as well and trying to keep from crying screaming and gasping and cussing Noah out .I wanted to kill him .But I'm so sick of bringing him to light let's talk about Brooke she has has quite the development with all the sh•t Noah put her through. SHES A CHARACTER one will root for cry for and just wanna give a hug of reassurance. Okay I spoiled a bit about characters how about the pace I read this book in 2 hours . It was fast twisty dark AF like this isnt for the weak stomachs . At one point it became a bit too much that I almost just didn't wanna finish not because it was bad but the emotions that took over... I pushed through glad I did because MONICA you're one of my new favorite Thriller authors. Where The F have you been ... why I have had not pick up a damn book of yours up yet. Goodness this will take a bit to just fully get all my thoughts processed... because wow tho this is dark and sick and twisted it's so brilliant MONICA is brilliant

I am ECSTATIC to finally be able to share my thoughts on The Next Mrs Wimberly by the clever & stunning @monicaaryaauthor ✨💕 I was lucky enough to beta read this book in June and WOW, I’m still thinking about it. This is no doubt Monica’s darkest thriller to date and one of my favorite books of 2022 (and ever).

There’s a lot of to-be-wed thrillers out there, and as a soon-to-be bride myself (50 days!) I was looking for something unique. Without giving anything away, TNMW does exactly that. She warned me, but I honestly didn’t expect just how dark this book would get - and it was done flawlessly. The pacing is perfection, and I felt like I was there, immersed in this story with the characters. From the very first page you won’t want to put this one down.

I love a thriller that gives me all of the feels at no exaggeration. I laughed. I cringed. I cried. My heart dropped. I felt shocked.

This book can be read stand-alone, but if you’ve read Monica’s other thrillers you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see them weaved in to this story as well - and if you haven’t, you’ve got time! The Next Mrs. Wimberly pubs on September 27th and is no doubt a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read that will be taking over Bookstagram closer to pub day. No joke, I’ve had a couple of nightmares about this one. 🫣 Monica, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next! 🎉

What a cluster…k. I honestly don’t even know what to think about this book, it’s so messed up. As much as I sympathize with Brooke and what she’s been through, some events were so far-fetched and unrealistic, it made my mind blow. Reading about „just breathing”, eating ice-cream and dancing in the rain over and over again got boring fast. Like these repetitions and the heroine’s prolonged inner voice narration would make the book more interesting. It didn’t. The ending was weird and cringy at best. Hopefully Brooke’s daughter won’t fill her daddy’s shoes… 2 stars.

Let me preface my review by saying I have only ever thrown two books across the room while reading them and The Next Mrs. Wimberly officially makes the third book I have hurled across the room. 😂

I was intrigued because this one has a lot of trigger warnings. My only trigger that I can’t read through is animal cruelty, so, everything else is fair game. 🖤

This is the most DISTURBING, DARK, DEMENTED, TWISTED book I have read this year but I loved every horrifying moment of it. 😱🤯🤯

Actual emotions I felt while reading this book:

🤓ENGAGED
😳SHOCKED
👊🏼ENRAGED
🤢DISGUSTED
🫣DISBELIEF
🤬HATRED
🤮NAUSEA
🤯SPEECHLESS

Basically ALL of the emotions one person can feel, I felt them all in a matter of hours while reading this book in one sitting. 😂

What made it more personally disturbing for me is that the twist is happening in real life whether we choose to accept it or not. I can't begin to describe the horrors this book unfolds. I was completley enthralled, disgusted, horrified and shocked throughout - but it is a FANTASTIC TWISTED read! 😳

This book is not for your average run of the mill thriller readers. It has nearly EVERY trigger warning except animal cruelty and child abuse.

Some books will stay with you forever and this is one of them for me without a doubt. 😱

Read this if you:
♠️love Monica Arya
♠️have or have not read any of her other books
♠️like a good mind f*ck.

Brooke is an orphan and barely scraping by. She's living in New York when she meets Noah Wimberly, a surgeon, while catering at a medical convention and he offers her a chance at a better life as his live-in- assistant on the other side of the planet. Well California...but it might as well have been. They fall for one another soon after and she's getting ready to become the next Mrs. Wimberley. She's going to finally have the life she's always dreamed of.

Once they're married things begin to spiral downwards and things are not adding up. She's still unclear of what exactly happened to the first Mrs. Wimberley and her husband's best friends seem a little too close for comfort.

Brooke begins to dig into her husband's medical practice and finds locked cabinets in his office uncovering a shocking secret which leads to her finding herself in a situation no one ever wants to find themselves in.

This book is DARK y'all. Monica's brain worked overtime and then some on this baby. Did I mention it's dark? I felt my skin crawl and mouthed WTF multiple times.

Thank you Monica for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your Beta team on this one. I'm getting ready to dive back in for another reread of my ARC soon too! Let the nightmares commence again.

The Next Mrs. Wimberley is out Sept 27th just in time for Spooky Season!

This book was so fantastic! It captured my attention from the very first page, all the way to the end! I loved how the plot twist was very different and how the author wrote in the PTSD moments. I loved everything about it! This is in my Top 5 for this year, for sure! Loved the horror-ish vibe to it too. If you want to dabble your feet in horror but stay on the thriller side, read this! So captivating!

Thank you to the author for this early e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

And here it comes ….

I have been waiting a LONG time to review this book and keeping this secret has nearly killed me. I’m not sure I can ever BETA read again as trying to keep my lips sealed and contain excitement on one of my favorite books of the year has been hard.

The Next Mrs. Wimberly

This book is what nightmares are made of . How does Monica’s husband sleep next to her at night knowing she comes up with these dark, dark thoughts inside her head? All I know is that after concluding this masterpiece I was straight up scared .

I’m talking, sleep with the lights on, check every window and sleep with one eye open kind of scared. To say this book is twisted is an understatement .

We all know Monica is my bestie but this is not a biased review, this will always be one of my most favored books and one I will never stop thinking about .

Yes, my little blood suckers… this one is haunting to say the least.

Coming out this September, I promise… you do not want to miss it .

This was a lot. Vaguely torture porn, and a lot of gruesome details, I went back and forth on whether I would power through it. It usually got just light enough or sent me into some other tangent to distract me enough to stick with it. It just felt like there was a CONSTANT flow of terrible things happening and not enough levity to give a balance. I also have to mention how implausible so much of this was. It felt like it could have used a ruthless editor.

I don’t remember who mentioned this author to me - but a huuuuuuuuge thanks to you. When I began reading this book I was warned about alllll the triggers, but as I got through maybe half the book, I was thinking to myself that this book wasn’t THAT BAD that it needed TWs.

Oh boy was I wrong, and completely immersed in the story when it turned. As I began the second half, this book got so fked up and I loved every second of it. This isn’t a book for everyone but if you’re like me and love a good psychological thriller with some fked up characters, then this book is for you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

There’s so many good quotes I wanted to use in my review but I couldn’t narrow them down. Plus I’d be posting half the book at this point. I’m excited that I found this author and have ordered all her other books. Which I will be reading asap.

A truly suspenseful ride that you won’t want to get off. Monica has crafted the perfect book, with its fast-pace and wild characters, you’ll fly through it. And the twist will have your head spinning. SUCH A FANTASTIC READ!

I can’t wait to start another one of her books.

Brooke is about to marry, Noah, a well known surgeon. She is so happy about future, that is until she she hears different stories about how Noah's first wife died. She even finds out her engagement ring is the same as his first wife's. So is their wedding venue and honeymoon spot! Talk about creepy!! What really happened to the first Mrs. Wimberly? Brooke is about to find out, and it's way more than she bargained for.

This was my first book by Monica Arya. I would like to thank her for sending me a copy to read. I was flying through the pages of THE NEXT MRS. WIMBERLY. It was a dark thriller, and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat!! I would love to read more of Monica's books in the future.

Please spare yourself and don’t buy into the social media hype the author has created for herself.

I have never written a review for a book, but I absolutely had to do something to combat all the five-star reviews that I can only assume are fake.

I don’t want to hurt the author’s feelings, but this reads like it was written by a 12-year-old for other 12-year-olds. If I didn’t know better, I would assume the author was a middle school teacher who had received this story from one of her students and decided to publish it for her.

This is the problem with self-published books. The fact that the author herself left a five-star review for her own book speaks volumes.

My head is STILL spinning. Wow - everything you could ever ask for in a thriller is wrapped up in a bloody little bow in Monica Arya ‘s new thriller releasing September 27th. Deeply twisted and fast-paced, this book will leave you with vertigo from the mental gymnastics you spin through in each chapter.

The Next Mrs. Wimberly by Monica Arya is an amazing read! It takes a surprisingly dark turn that I didn’t expect based on the summary. The story follows a struggling young woman who meets a charming surgeon, and they soon get married. But as the wedding approaches, she starts to notice unsettling similarities to his first wife's wedding—right down to the details. Even more disturbing, people begin commenting on how much she resembles the late Mrs. Wimberly.

Then one day, she stumbles upon something she was never meant to see and turns to a friend for help. What follows is shocking, intense, and where the thriller truly kicks into high gear. I couldn’t put it down!

Twisted Turkey's! 😳😯🤯😳😳

Okay I need CPR after the insanity of this novel. STAT! I absolutely have adored Arya's other thriller novels and this one has easily become my utmost favourite now! This novel delivers such an intense, deeply dark and mad plot for a novel, it was leave you breathless! It's heartbreaking, heart-racing, undeniably twisted, & yet you can't put this down! Arya knows how to twist you around, throw curveballs and create such a vivid madness you can't help but need to keep reading, that will illicit gasps & tears from you. She weaves an absolute difficult topic, into something capturing & captivating with one helluva spun ending that is just heart-stopping! This is not for the light-hearted & while heavy and intense, it's perfectly weaved & create chills and fear. Now I seriously need to reward myself with some of my good chocolate & devour it like this sinful novel.

Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: Brooke is in a place she never ever thought she'd ever be, although she dreamed endlessly for it. After a tragic, hard past as a child, growing up and trying to make it at 18 doing different jobs, she's experienced it all. But now; now she's graced with becoming notorious wealthy surgeon, Noah's wife, Mrs. Wimberly, in just a few weeks. But as the days grow closer to their wedding, Brooke can't help but wonder about his previous wife that passed away, Riya, and their uncanny resemblances in more ways than one. But as her curiosity gets the best of her, it's going to lead her down a very dark, deeply sinister and shocking road she never could've imagined.

Thank you to Monica Arya & her team for this ARC.

This is my 2nd Monica Arya book so I’m a professional lol. And yall she does not disappoint. My little “book gang” and I love to read her books. Not just because they literally pull you in and snatch your “literary-wig” from the beginning but Monica is PETTY cause she never gives you your wig BACK! 😝🤣

I love how her books stress me out in the best way possible. And by that I mean in a Literary sense. Haha

The characters are layered and always flawed! The story is always there, this book never had a dull moment for me. And of all the twists and turns that took places…. I didn’t guess any of them. My favorite thing of all with the Monica Arya books I’ve read has to be when you think the storm is over and you have reached a moment where you can have a sigh of relief! BOOM! Aaahhh YOU THOUGHT! IT AINT OVER YET!

It never takes me or the book gang long to finish her books! I feel this is because you just have to know what happens next. They’re damn near impossible to put down.

The Next Mrs. Wimberly was all that and then some! I def recommend it.

Next up. Navy Lies! 💙🫶🏾

Whoah! I had to wait just a bit to review this to collect my thoughts! Hands down the absolute most riveting , hold your breath, teeth-clinching , edge of your seat, suspenseful thriller! Finally a book that is tense and terrifying, and sinister in the best of ways!
I’ve read many books that claim to be “dark”, only to be let down. I was highly satisfied to finally find one that is what is actually claims to be, severely dark and utterly twisted! And it was freaking AMAZING!!!!!
This was the first time I have read anything of this author. Her writing style being eloquent and just the way she structured the sentences and her language, how she set the tone and mood for her audience. I’m actually surprised she’s not more well known, I suspect in time she will be! I will definitely be grabbing her other work! I look forward to seeing how far this book goes, I definitely find it to be award-worthy
I’m not going to summarize the book, I’ve been doing that in reviews , an I’m like, for what? The synopsis is right there. And I don’t like to give spoilers. The characters are well defined , you will come to deeply care for the FMC, Brooke. A charming, brave and thankfully curious young girl, who has no family an striving to make ends meet until she meets the handsome, rich doctor, Noah! He’s supposed to make her life better, a dream come true. But sometimes dreams will become your worse nightmare!

Let it be known that this book has many triggers, i myself am lucky enough to not have any, but If you do PLEASE BE AWARE OF THEM before reading this. (SA, kidnapping, medical procedures)

I was thankfully lucky enough to obtain an arc of this Book, all of these opinions are my own!

Oh my goodness, what did I just read????

This book was absolutely outstanding, one that had me literally sitting in the edge of my seat in anticipation of what was happening next. Honestly you will not want to put this book down, it’s just so intense from start to finish.

The angst in this book is off the charts! I had to reread the last few pages again and I still just can not believe the ending. Seriously this book has twists and turns that you just won’t believe or even see coming and be prepared to be shocked.

I absolutely loved Brooke, she was a beautiful girl that had a horrible start to her life, luckily she had Penelope there to help her. Then she met rich handsome Noah who swept her off her feet. Unfortunately very quickly into their relationship things just didn’t add up, who was this man she married?

I loved the storyline in this book, it covered some really horrible things, and sadly these things happen in real life but I think it was all put together well within the book.

CONTENT WARNING : THIS NOVEL IS THE AUTHORS DARKEST PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER. TRIGGER WARNINGS INCLUDE : GRAPHIC SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VIOLENCE, MEDICAL PROCEDURES. PLEASE TAKE THESE INTO CONSIDERATION.

Absolutely great job Monica

This book was insane! First, check the trigger warnings, they are intense and dark at times. They are totally worth it though. This story couldn’t have been better. Legit one of my favorites from this year. Up there with False Witness and They Never Learn. There were so many oh shit moments that I did not see coming. I love a plot twist like that! That just comes out of nowhere.

I don’t like to give too much of the story away in my reviews because if people want to go into it blind, like I do, then I don’t want to ruin that. I will tell you that I haven’t loved a main character the way I loved Brooke in a long time. I just wanted to reach through my kindle and give her a hug.

I got this digital ARC from the author and I am so beyond grateful I got to be a part of this. I will tell you that getting an ARC doesn’t ever influence my reviews because I’ve received plenty that I didn’t like and either didn’t finish or didn’t give high stars to. I honestly loved this book and will absolutely be buying a physical copy for my book shelf.

So go preorder this book! It comes out 9/27/22!

First, I must say that Monica always ALWAYS has the prettiest covers doesn’t she? I have had the pleasure of being on Monica’s ARC team and this is my third of her books I have read. When she told us all it was dark and gave us warnings, I was instantly curious. Guys-she wasn’t wrong! This is DARK, CREEPY, MESSED UP and SCARY!

What started as a familiar story of poor young women falling in love with the rich, gorgeous man I almost DM’ed her and said “Really?!” Jokes on me because then BAM! She hits you with a “What the fuck did I just read” type of twist. She got me folks-I did not see any of the twists coming and they were wholly unique I was stunned.

I do not want to say too much because I think it’s best to be blinded sighted like I was. This is truly my favorite of Monica’s. Now I have pretty much zero trigger warning issues (minus animal violence) so for me I didn’t find this too graphic but I know that it will be for some so beware. The subject matter is tough, realistic and plausible. I am sure it is even going on right now. I really loved this one! Still thinking about it and its been days!

Thank you to author Monica Arya for the gifted ARC of The Next Mrs. Wimberly in exchange for my honest review.

This is far and away Arya's darkest thriller yet, and I was all in for it.

The book had such a unique plot point that I genuinely can’t remember ever seeing before. What a treat! It's also a very bingeable book. If I had nothing else going on, I easily could have finished it in one sitting.

Monica can do no wrong in my eyes, but please check trigger warnings for this one, it’s a doozy!

I loved the crossovers in this book with The Girl in the Reflection and Shades of Her! Definitely check out the trigger warnings before reading - the triggers reminds me a lot of Hunting Adeline. This book was written so well, and I read it within 24 hours, just like Monica Arya's other thrillers! I need a few days to process that ending and maybe answers from the author herself. 😹

This is a creepy, dark one that's really good but often hard to read. Twenty-four-year-old Brooke marries handsome surgeon, Noah who is forty-four and moves into his mansion in Laguna Beach. His first wife, Riya died by suicide on the rocks in front and her body was apparently never found. Initially Brooke is delighted as she's never felt luckier after having a boyfriend who abused her and is now married to a handsome doctor with a lovely home and a Hawaiian honeymoon. But soon she begins discovering discrepancies and begins to wonder why there are so many similarities between her and Riya...and her discoveries are chilling!

My first immediate thoughts about this book is that it is dark, intense but insanely good. And Monica Arya could quite possibly be the next Colleen Hoover…just saying!

Brooke thinks she has found her Prince Charming to start a new and better life with after suffering years of being in a abusive relationship. The night of their wedding her future quickly turns into a living hell. Can she survive torture and years of trauma in her life?

One of the biggest aspects I loved about this book and specifically the ending. Is the focus on how mental health and PTSD is not something that just goes away. As Monica said it best, “our mind is our greatest asset but can also be our greatest weakness”

I loved this book! Great suspenseful and psychological thriller. Well done 👏🏻

⚠️ Trigger warnings : domestic abuse, rape, murder, kidnapping, human trafficking and trauma.

Ok, 50% in I was hating on Brooke for being weak and submissive however, she redeemed herself in the end. This wasn’t a 5 because the overuse of the line, “Just breathe..” annoyed me. Unputdownable.

I've been curious about this author for awhile, so when the chance came to read an early copy of her upcoming release, THE NEXT MRS. WIMBERLY, I grabbed the opportunity.

What initially hooked me was the author's declaration that this was her darkest book yet and her urging to DM her about trigger warnings. My little black heart skipped a beat, and I dove right in.

This book made great use of the familiar trope of 'struggling single woman bedazzled by rich, attractive, available man' making it something that was wholly unique.

When Brooke meets Dr. Noah Wimberly, she's working double shifts just to get by. After a whirlwind romance, she's living in his lavish home, surrounded by excess. It all seems too good to be true, and it probably is. Noah's first wife Riya died under mysterious circumstances, a supposed suicide, but Brooke gets conflicting accounts--Noah says it happened one way, but a friend of his lets it drop in casual conversation that it happened another way. Even worse, Brooke is convinced that she's seeing Riya, but that can't be...the woman is dead.

With a sense of dread and foreboding woven throughout, what's in store for the next Mrs. Wimberly is something I never saw coming. It's grim, it's dark, but it's 100% believable. I wouldn't say the details are overly graphic, but then again, I have zero triggers and have yet to find content that truly bothers me. Don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like some information before proceeding. The ending was just a little too neatly resolved for my liking, but overall, this was a compelling story that I know thriller fans will enjoy!

Many thanks to the author for gifting me an ARC of this read which will publish September 27, 2022.
