Ye screw with this lass, ye get put on yer ass. Being bonded to a dragon means longevity of life... and that means I'll outlive my family and the people I love. I would never have chosen that. How much of life is what we choose? Were you born a boy or girl... a human, a shifter, or an angel? Are you mortal or immortal? Is there magic in your veins or not? In life, you start off and get what you get- that's fate . Then you grab the reins and steer your path- that's free will . Fate versus free will... it's mind bendy. But what if you want to change your stars? When a gathering of reapers descends on Toronto, and a mass-death is pending, Clan Cumhaill fights through kidnappings, betrayal, and death to discover what will cause the disaster. Is it a vampire war, the theft of a powerful artifact, or an empowered icon gone rogue? There's no way to know until the danger unfolds.

2.5 but rounded down because I’m just losing interest and am only here because it hasn’t sucked so bad that I’d stop. But I am coming across major changes that I hate.
So it isn’t changes so much as lackthereof. Fi doesn’t change. Yes, she makes herself look like an ass and owns up to it but she doesn’t change. She may be less jumpy with opinions but it hasn’t affected her unless it’s supposed to. That’s how I feel. That’s the impression she gives off when I read. There’s no evolution. Yes, on paper, there is. But I’ve officially lost any connection I first had when I raved about the first two books.
It’s very glass-oriented. I’m constantly told what’s happening before my eyes but I can’t sense anything else. There’s no emotional depth for me. It all sounds right and SOMETIMES there are good moments, but otherwise? There’s just nothing now. Fi’s basically married and holding off on a title. Everyone is always pointing out that she’s a trouble magnet. Same lame jokes. Har har. I’m more sad and disappointed that I’m not as into it as I first was. This was way overdrawn and filled with stories of the other that didn’t have enough time to actually have an impact on me. It was like watching the last season of GoT. Not enough emotional cues and investments to care or understand.
And that sucks.
I’ll still be reading (there’s one more for me I believe) but I doubt I’ll pick up the next book. It’s always easy to drop a series when you have to wait.
⭐⭐ SPOILER ALERT ⭐⭐ Finally finished this book. I'll say again what I often feel the need to say in these quick to label times. I'm a black gay man, raised in an extended family of mostly women. 3:1 at least. I believe, trust, and follow women(strong and not). But this chick here though. If your on the 12th book you might already know. Everything that happens in this book is filtered through the main character perspective and lense. We are lead through her world view "one hundy percent". If she didn't witness it, then it needs to be told to her. I know some characters talk smack when they are scared or nervous but she talks all the time. Especially at non opportune times. She made more enemies by talking than fighting. She is the youngest in the Fam-Jam and yet she still makes most of the decisions. Why did they make Sloan black there was no real reason. I would have preferred a black witch friend or something. He is their Jordi. Unnecessary. Fiona can stand up to demi God and the like, but gets nervous around others. She had no girl friends before she got her powers? Finally Not a blond but a red head saves the day. *Also why do her slightly older brother that way. I'm worried because your not a fighter like us Bro. BS
I had to take a break 12 book in a row too much for the Mac Cumhaill.
✌🏾

Nikon needs Sloan’s help finding a magical antiquity: Eros’ Bow. Garnet calls an emergency meeting of the Empowered Ones Guild to discuss why there’s a mass gathering of reapers. The reason is both terrifying and heartbreaking. But Dillan’s new girlfriend is very interesting and little Bizzy is so cute.
The balance between interpersonal relationship stuff (who’s going with who, etc.) and the druid adventure action is heading too far to the relationship stuff for me. I enjoy the clan’s quirkiness, but keep the situations supportive to the story. For example: the whole first chapter was totally unnecessary to the story. We spend most of it becoming engaged with the clan getting ready to go to friends club. Then the second chapter starts with them talking about it with nothing about it applying to the main story. They could have been talking about the wedding instead as that was previously mentioned and would have been interesting. I hope it changes or I may have to rethink reading the series since it was the druid stuff that attracted me.
Fave scenes: the elf honey bears, the fight with Anca, Bruin’s defense of the two brothers and ‘fixing’ Garnet.
I've gone through all the current audio books, so this is the first kindle version I’ve read. They're solid books. I do think they could do better with emotional scenes. The MC tends to panic and freak out easier than 1) I think she should at this point in her development, and 2) in a way that detracts a bit from the story. She feels and illustrates emotions and loses focus a lot, although that was a bit better this time. I think if she was less demonstrative and distracted, while still making it clear she IS feeling things, it might inspire the audience to feel more based on her having to push through all that grief and pain. Just an opinion, but it's something I've noticed lately. I'm more likely to feel emotional investment in a character when they fight through things out of necessity, while acknowledging how painful it is. Maybe that says something about me? Honestly not sure.
No spoilers here, just a tease. But this book is not for the faint of heart, because life IS about to get real.
This installment is priceless in many ways for its touchback back to reality. There’s a lot of snark, just like we’d expect, but not a whole lot of fun. In fact, there’s very little fun in this chapter, whatsoever… just a lot of pain and then some more.
But pain is the impetus for growth, and Clan Cumhaill will be growing a lot before this book is over. It’s a grim but necessary step for them to be ready for whatever comes next. ENJOY!
Pros: awesome next in series novel. Packed with the right amount of action, romance 💘 and hilariousness to keep me laughing at all the situations Clan Cumhaill find themselves dealing in.
I’d you’re also reading this as next in series expect to be just as amazed as you were for the prior 10. If this is your first book of the series I recommend reading the series in order. I’m sure it can be a standalone book but knowing the backstories and inside jokes will make this novel even better.
I was worried that this might have been the end of the line for the series, but the Urban Druids live to fight another day.
Enjoyed the story, the betrayal came out of nowhere and really had an impact on the characters, and how it pulled on elements from past books. Dart is adorable, but he may have competition in the too cute Bizzy. Can’t wait to see what happens in book 13.
I do love the author notes they leave. Thank you authors for putting these books on Kindle Unlimited. I don't know where I would be without it, considering I read at least 1 to 2 books a day. If you haven't tried this series yet then you're missing out on something really good. The adventures of a female urban druid and her family and friends. All the magick, mayhem, laughs, tears and love. Start it today.
I cannot get enough of this series!! The family dynamic, the way they collect friends as family and their familiars is just beautiful! It’s the best of humanity while also doing an awesome job of showing their quirky flaws as well. It makes the whole series the best adventure series I’ve read!! I am always so sad to finish a book!! Can’t wait for the next one!!!
First off it is not a standalone please read the previous 11, that being said I absolutely loved this book the twists and turns of the plot loosing a minor character was a bit of a bummer but adding Eva to the Fam Jam just might make up for it. All in all it was what you expect fun mystery impending doom and Fiona and the Fam getting their drink on lol 😂
This series is so much fun, it has it all, druids, vampires, shifters, elves and everything else you can think of. The storylines are great and I always have to finish the books in one go. Fi, Sloan and her family have to take down some out of town vampires and hold down the fort while the leader is indisposed. As usual they kick butt and now I am looking forward to the next book.
Fi and the fam jam are some of my favorite characters from any book series EVER!!! Action packed with every kind of danger and villains you love to hate and crazy situations with shocking results and plenty of hilarious goofing mixed in! Howard S (the S stands for Super Fan!)
A gathering of reapers has shown up in Toronto. Garnet wants the group to prevent mass death. Eros has had his bow stolen. This generates a tense situation.
Dillan's brother is dating an angel. Eros is a jerk. Love from Eros's arrow is permanent (or is it)?
I highly recommend this fascinating book, and the intriguing series in which it is, to who love reading well written Urban Fantasy. This series is also for readers who like druids, magic, creatures of all types, action, adventure, relics, as well as well thought out characters to love and hate. Enjoy!
and full of fun characters drawn from so many different mythologies and cultures. A fun and eclectic cast of characters that are fabulous enough to genuinely like yet flawed enough to find relatable. An excellent read to escape into once in awhile, something we can all use after the last 2 years. Looking forward to the next adventure😊!
As new characters are added and woven into the clan the complex world of abilities, strengths and weaknesses spin through with the core message of respect and love and dropping judgement. Being cautious while exploring new arrivals is so fun. It makes me wish for a team trouble in our world here and now…
Tempeste and Anderle, the Queen and King of Druids have done it again. Cupid’s bow, reapers and action galore make this another brilliant read in the life of Fiona. Brilliantly written and holds on to the reader tightly until the very end. Bring on the next 12 books in the series…lol
I like to see books that revolve around the entire family. This book 12 is very good. I don't like the ones where they leave everyone behind. I love they're always helping everyone and doing it while growing and changing together. I think more fiction should show healthy successful relationships like this.
I love this whole series. It's fun fantasy, the characters are a vast array of different . The bottom line for me is that the whole family supports each other and there is no doubt they love each other and support each other. There is talk of sex,but it's not a predominant in your face thing.
A Destiny Unlocked, book twelve of the Chronicles of an Urban Druid series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This story was full of surprises. I continue to adore the sibling interactions and inside jokes. It's so easy to see how this 'family' keeps getting larger. Great writing continues.
Bizzy was a fun entry to the series, although she's left as a bit of a cardboard cutout character. Ava's character felt too pat. I started out suspecting her as a hidden evil character (ooh...Tempest, you don't seem willing to leave the same old, same old to allow your protagonist to learn or change, but did you sneak in some hidden spice to finally bring something new to these books?) but nope.
Definitely another awesome Clan Cumhaill book. I have loved all of them so far and this one isn't any different. Fiona and her crew are the bomb and I can't wait to see what happens next!
A loveable heroine and family worth reading about. I could not put down this book or any of the books in the Urban Druid Series. This incredibly relatable heroine and her family is worth a major binge reading session.
This will make you laugh out loud and clear up some stuff about love God and there are many more to read about in this series of books and I have no clue if there are going to be more books then thirteen books or more.
I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and it keeps getting better. The characters have grown in a way that's believable. I really wish I could be part of this story.
...these stories! This series never gets old for me and I really hope the author's have reasons to keep these characters going! Action, romance, comedy...talk about an all-in-one!
If you’re still here with this series then you won’t be disappointed. Plenty of action and loads of snark to keep you laughing. If you’ve just discovered the series go back to the first and give it a proper start.
I so love this series! Red and her carefree attitude...no matter what life throws at her. The Cumhail family and there all for one, musketeers comradery, and of course all of the dragons, magic and so forth. Just a great read over all!
Action packed. Eros' arrows fly and cause untold grief. Great story, plus we meet Dillan's new love and find out what she is. Lot's of hold your breath moments. Good read.
Let's hear it for Clan Cumhaill! So it gets even more exciting. Seems mostly everyone is paired up, except Nikon. The Culling is coming soon but the clan now has a guardian angel. Time for the next book. Keep Reading.
