Witches of Hollow Cove #8

Todo lo que quería hacer era sentarme y relajarme con ese caliente, muy, muy caliente, hombre simio que me derrite hasta las bragas. Pero, en lugar de eso, estoy ocupada tratando de encontrar a la reina del infierno.

¿La he encontrado?

Not my favorite (contains spoilers)

So I love this series but I was beyond frustrated with this book. I love a strong, smart, MC. And I love that Tessa is close to my age, that being said. The fact that she was accusing Lilith of the murders and it was obvious it might not be her, but when the 3 guys showed up going after a teen shifter same as just happened and she STILL acted like Lilith was the killer. On top of it accusing the guys of being sent by Lucifer when she said it to them multiple times and they didn't react to it was too much for me. I just don't believe ANYONE is that stupid. She's not a twenty year old she's in her 40's she wouldn't be so set on something she had NO PROOF of. None not a sliver, just a hunch and it honestly didn't line up with her Dad's description of Lilith. And the fact that she doesn't have Lilith's back after her relationship and divorce seems silly to me as well. Ok that's my vent. Otherwise it was great once we moved past all that. Which I had to skip too BTW

3.5. Every book I keep hoping Tessa will be better and not act like an impulsive, brainless idiot andddd nope that’s what you get. She.never.learns. Despite ALL EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY she goes around accusing the wrong person of the crimes, even when it’s clear it’s can’t possibly be her 🙄🙄🙄. She hast really trained with her powers so she keeps getting whooped over and over.. soo what’s the point of having these powers?? Honestly, her friends are the highlight of the book.

Odd and weird

Tessa is trying to find Lilith without any success when two young werewolves dismembered bodies are discovered and laid out in the shape of a smiley face... magic is hanging heavy in the air around the kill site...

Their parents are ready to hold Tessa personally responsible when Amelia deliberately puts her in the middle of their meeting with Marcus... stirring unnecessary tension between shifter and witch communities...

After a date with Marcus Tessa is attacked by three hooded and cloaked figures who mock her weakness as a witch and woman... Tessa kills one in self-defence but not before they had attempted to weaken her by magically tearing her clothes away believing it would somehow affect her ability to fight back... Tessa wins but soon after Hollow Cove is attacked by an unknown force that has installed a dome over the entire town and is attempting to kill the entire population, shifters first but anyone else is fair game...

The ending was just odd... suv's?? Where are the rest of the MERLIN's?? How are they working in isolation when it's a huge organisation?? There are plot holes like this throughout the series... they seem to work in isolation despite all the "it's a big organisation and you have to complete the trials to be a MERLIN" in the first two books... the Grey Council are referred to fairly often but only appear for trials not to do anything... it's frankly odd...

got a bit fed up with Tessa's attitude/stating it was Lilith for awhile in the beginning, but all in all a good book.

I really love this series, but you really have to read these books in order.

The Sisters of the Circle are gone, killed by Lilith the goddess they were freeing from her imprisonment in hell. Now she's gone and Tessa needs to find her.

When Tessa reads a note from Gilbert the owl shifter mayor that announces the annual pie festival but is banning Tessa from any participation, she's angry and annoyed. Gilbert is being petty over accidents, not intentional destruction.

She's in Davenport house with her father and asking him all about Lilith and how she came to be locked up by Lucifer in the first place. With Obiryn's help and patience she's even getting her Demon Mojo under control.

When she returns to her room she has an unexpected visitor, Lilith in the flesh. While she tries to figure out if Lilith is planning any retribution against innocents because of her incarceration, Tessa is informed she owes Lilith a favor for not killing her. She's not collecting on it yet, but she will, soon.

The next Merlin case comes in and Tessa's aunts are upset, two teenage boys, murdered and horrifically. There's definitely magic involved, and in a sick and twist way. Even though she's just spoken with Lilith, that's where Tessa's mind heads when it comes to lots of power and magic.

Allison of course has to change things up and cause problems for Tessa. Marcus texted to come down and wait in his office for him, but 'Gorilla Barbie' insists on taking her down to the morgue. The parents of the dead boys realize she's a witch even before Allison announces it and things get a bit dangerous. Marcus gets things back under control and tells Tessa to leave.

Instead of heading home she hits the ley lines to speak with her father about recapturing Lilith. That conversation doesn't go well, but he agrees to look into possibilities. Then she returns to Marcus.

The danger ramps up on her way home when she's attacked by three hooded strangers, demons with different and more powerful magic than she's seen before.

A visit to Lilith proves nothing and almost gets her killed. Then more murders happen. Only this time something else occurs right after.

With a dome surrounding Hollow Cove, there's no email, texts, cell phone, landlines nothing. Of course, Gilbert throws a fit, but it's interesting that the reason they were found by the Guild is his fault. His advertising the pie festival put the town on the internet. All it would have taken was a simple search.

This is one of the harder books to read, it all seems so overwhelming, and solutions aren't working. People are dying because they're shifters and everything is going awry.

Needless to say, I couldn't put this book down, I had to know they would solve this. So many tears, laughter, romance and surprises.

Great story but..

I'm sorry but I read these one after another so it starts to drive me crazy! The story is always good really good. Fast moving, interesting, great characters but again she being the author dips into the same wells waaayyy too much and yes, I notice more because I read one right after the other and there is a lot in this series but I'm SO sick ( and grossed out) about this chicks eating habits ( Tessa) always slobbering food on herself, eating constant and moaning as she eats which is disgusting - get a hold yourself. She is constantly making the stupidest decisions and it must be nice to do that and always go ' I'll fix it later' then draw all the attention to herself saying it's all her fault and in every book ' well, IM going to STOP it ' and how, HOW?!? Are any of these women, her aunt's and herself possibly investigators of anything? They're a bunch of presumptuous jumping to conclusions , especially Tessa that moron, idiots who spend more time cleaning up the mistakes from their assumptions than solving anything. Tessa is always wrong until the end. Every book. She apparently feels she's entitled to give in to the luxury of always acting on her temper, which is the equivalent of a toddlers and none of them follow the basics of any kind of investigators. It's all guesswork. Wrong guesswork. Maybe it's supposed to be funny but the same annoying formula for every book. Not mention how all she thinks of is getting laid. She acts like a teenager always but HAS BIG SERIOUS LADY BALLS repeated over and over and over while moaning over butter. She's very unlikable AND it's a blatantly obvious golden girls rip off with Tessa thrown in as the main fool. I still live the plot and the books tho I know you can't tell right now but pleeeaaase I know they written awhile ago at least the ones I'm at, book 8 but she writes many series... Change it up some. It's alot of the same stuff that would never work out in any reality. Mostly she gets lucky. Then Dolores/ Dorothy takes credit! Ahhhhh!

The characters in this series are all sorts of kookie and they just keep getting crazier - LOL! This was a fun read, alot of chaos and alot of good moments.
I do feel though sometimes the author narrates a little too much the thoughts of what's going on in Tess' head when she's in battle - sometimes you just want to read a battle scene all the way through without every crazy thought going through the character's head.
The story follows the same M.O. as all of the stories in this series - everything starts off good, there is a problem, a battle ensues, the next problem is set up for the next story, and then all is right in the world. I am mentioning this, because it is literally the same every story, so if you're going to get bored with it - which is very possible - don't bother reading this series. I am more than half way in right now and don't have any good books lined up so that's why I am still hanging on.
The author can write really well but definitely could use a little more imagination with this story. It needs something that makes you not able to turn the pages fast enough - this series does not do that for me. I can read a page and do something else, then come back and read another. Normally I read books in 2-3 days, these take me a week.
I digress, this was one of the better books in the series - and I love Lillith - she's badass.

I do love Hollow Cove, the world, the characters - mostly, and the interesting lore we've wrapped around the various supernaturals that are in the series.

But I will say, for as old as Tessa is supposed to be, I'm starting to not love the lack of thought she has before just riding high into something. Like accusing the Queen of Hell of murder without a lick of fucking proof. Not only that, when she arrives at where Lilith is staying, she's basically having a non-stop sex party, and you're STILL going to accuse her of leaving her fun to kill some poor kids, because for whatever ill-conceived notion, it makes sense to your brain.

I think, in all honesty, accusing Lilith without any proof that she had a hand in it at all, was a really poor and stupid choice. It was almost like there was no other option, so let's just throw everything at the wall and that's the choice that stuck the longest before falling flat to the floor with all the other choices. I get that before they came across the actual big, bad there weren't a lot of options in front of her. But still.

Will I continue? Yes. I am curious to see where Lilith's plan goes in the next book. But I'm starting to get to the point where the only reason I'm continuing is because Marcus and Iris are some of the few with actual brains, and I do love the audio narrator for the series.

„Mystic Madness” is the eighth instalment in the “Witches of Hollow Cove” UF series by Kim Richardson, whose female MC (Tessa) is a witch in the early thirties, who move back to Hollow Cove, as her New York stint didn’t work as expected, to work in the family’s magical P.I. agency ‘The Merlin Group’ and reside with her
three eccentric aunts which are the real small-town aunt treat, much to the readers’ joy. “Witches of Hollow Cove” is a fast-paced UF series, that mixes eccentric witches, a supernatural town population, the occasional mystery, and a snarky heroine into entertaining mix of murder mystery, supernatural UF and chick lit.

Tessa has been waiting to relax and enjoy life with her BF, but Hollow Cove - as usually – has other plants. Not only is the literally Queen of Hell (Lilith) still MIA, which brings all kinds of problems with it, but the town is celebrating its Annual Pie Festival…. which turns out to be a real ‘pain’. Tessa might not be able to relay, but we surely will, cozy up with your beverage of choice and enjoy the ‘festival’, it is a real treat 😉

Mystic Madness is the 8th book in The Witches of Hollow Cove series by Kim Richardson.

It's not going well for Tessa. Not only she lost Litith and doesn't know where to look for her and she also own her a favor. She also have no idea what this favor is or when the goddess will ask for it. But there's also teenagers that have been murders in town and Lilith might be the one being it.

After finding where Lilith is, and also angering this one, she back home to be attack by those really behing the killing. They want to kill every shiffters in town including her boyfriend. And they trap the town under a dome. Tessa gonna need to stop them. And she will also learn what the goddess what from her. Nothing more that her help to kill her ex-husband Lucifer. Sure thats easy. Either she refuse and Lilith kill her, or she help her and ends up being kill by the king of the Netherworld. It's a lose-lose situation. What can't she do?

I have really loved this book and looking foward for the next one. I have received an arc of this book from the author.

Wow! The Twist and Turns

Tessa has been working on finding Lilith, with no luck. Tessa is suprised by her showing up in her room, she knows Lilith is up to something. When there are murders, everyone think the Goddess's handiwork. Tessa and Marcus are very secure in their relationship but Allison is still making matters worse. Tess decides she needs to confront Lilith about the deaths, but turns out Tessa was wrong. Tessa and the others will work together to get to the bottom of who is really behind the crimes. Tessa will have to use all her magical abilities to save her town.

There was some really interesting twist and turns with the story. Tessa and Marcus's relationship is really growning but they haven't taken a committed step. Allison is annoying as always. I am looking forward to see what is going to happen to Tessa and all the characters in the hollow. Recommend reading, you will really enjoy it.

Tessa feels guilty for letting the Queen of Hell out of her prison in order to save her aunt. While she is trying to find the Queen, shifters are being murdered and Tessa immediately jumps to the conclusion that she knows who did it and feels more guilt pile on.

Tessa is again in a fight for her life and the lives of the people in her town. Love Tessa character I. That she doesn’t think twice about her own life, just does what needs to be done. I’m looking forward to the next book to see more of the Queen of Hell because I think she is misunderstood and I quite liked her.

Too much craziness

I liked the premise, but once again so much was happening and all the conflicts had a rushed finish that barely got any real details about their supposed resolution.
Dark Guild, am I the only one wanting to know how they managed to live for centuries and if all the robed men were really his sons and descendants?
Soooo, they both watch the other practically be on death’s welcome mat and still no big love declaration?
Pie festival and the townsfolk didn’t try to push for Gilbert to be punished in some capacity?
Lilith just up and disappeared and then only reappears at the exact moment they needed a miracle?
And the list goes on and on….

Such a fantastic series!

I don’t know how this amazing author does it as this series just keeps gets better and better with each book she writes.

Tessa is becoming one of my all time favourite characters. She’s witty, sarcastic, and kicks butt. But trouble always seems to find Tessa and she continues to keep us laughing at all the ways she tries to get out of the trouble she gets in. She had me captivated, enthralled and highly entertained from start to finish.

I can’t wait to see how she gets herself out of the next mess she is bound to get herself into.

This was a hard one to read. And I don't mean because it was bad. Quite the opposite. It's just that some moments were heartbreaking. Obviously there were quite a lot of funny moments to compensate for them.
And guess what?! Next book in the series is released tomorrow!!!!!! 🎊 I'm just lucky like that 😍. So I don't have to wait months to know how Tessa's adventure in the Netherworld is going to unfold. Because really? What could go wrong? Being "asked" by the queen of hell to help kill her husband is a child's play...

Davenport witches are the best!!

Watching Tessa go after the Queen of Hell with no actual proof is slapstick funny at its best. Realizing she may have made a mistake on that part, even funnier. All that aside, and defeating the real evil threatening Hollow Cove came with a lot of the usual snarky humor and some sadness at the loss of a town deputy. But life continues and a new adventure looms just around the corner and I can't wait to read all about it!!

Tessa freed the Queen of Hell in order to rescue her Aunt, and now she is faced with worries whether Lilith is behind many new brutal deaths

her hot shifter beau is panty melting- but are they a serious thing? do either want them to be?

snark, murder, crazy mishaps and a nutty circle of friends and family make this a worthy part of a fun to read series!

Hollow Cove misfits

The ladies, gentleman, and Gilbert of Hollow Cove lost some lives this go round but alas Tessa saved the day with the help of her friends and her Ape. Dark wizards they lost more than their lives, they lost their reputations and their dignity. Can't wait to see how Tessa plans on killing Lucifer.

Tessa is back and enjoying her love but of course things go sideways as always and she must solve a mystery and everything else that is crazy in her life. Add in Lilith and things get even funnier. I was entertained and enjoyed what was going on with Tessa. Had to see who the bad guy was and how it all fit together. And what would go wrong too.

not again

Love the witches of Hollow Cove. Tessa is awesome she get herself in so much trouble only to come out the other end. Poor Marcus has his hands full with that one as his partner they are good as a couple can’t wait to see what happens next to both the relationship and the task she has been set

Ok

This one was ok. The wizards and action was entertaining. However, Allison' s character and actions have become an annoying distraction in the book. Also, Tessa repeatedly not telling Marcus what she does. Anyway thankfully some of the other characters make up for the annoying scenes

Amazing

The story of Tessa Davenport get more and more interesting with every book! The relationship with the paranormals are strained to the max in this story! Who kills and arranges body parts in that shape??? Having to owe a goddess is stressful as is, but once lillith tells Tessa what she wants......omg can't wait to read the next one!!!!

Can't keep a good witch down!

I love.love love this series and others written by Kim Richardson! Most of the paranormal series are so much alike that I get tired of the same patterns!! But not with these witches! Oh no! With each chapter comes a bit more imagination I just didn't expect! I love that! Not the same humdrum story!

Love the plot and the side characters, which is why I’ve stayed this long and gave it a 3/5, but I can’t get over how one dimensional Tessa is as a main character. You’d think after 8 books she’d have grown, but she’s still a flat character who expects everything to fit her world view and expect everyone to bend to her every thought and action. Also, she’s such a Mary Sue.

Good book

Tessa and Hollow Cove have more problems. It has been months since Lilith got out if her cage and they have not seen her. When two boys end up dead they fear she has come back on a killing spree. Tessa jumps to conclusions instead of asking questions and gets in a bigger mess
