Or perhaps he’s actually the villain. But Lady Laurel relives the day she lost her sister and of the man who was there on the worst day of her life. Was he rescuing her that day or was his part far more nefarious?
But the more she seems to learn, the less she knows. Only one thing is certain. She’ll never be free of these nightmares until the she uncovers the truth of her past. When she finally finds her mystery man, the Earl of Seacrest, he doesn’t provide answers. Just more questions. Are her growing feelings for Seacrest helping her find the courage to face the truth or is this the worst mistake of her life?
Great short and sweet novella from Tammy. One that has intrigue and passion in droves. Very much enjoyed this book, loved the characters, and seeing past characters too. This is a great series of books that I would highly recommend.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to write a review
I loved reading this story. I was able to connect with Laurels character in her search for her sister. I was excited to see that she didn’t give up hope on her journey. Parker was a great help in so many ways for Laurel, but it was the sweet romance between the two that shared some good entertainment. The writer, I thought did a wonderful job of telling a story that played on people’s association to the power and determination of never giving up on something that you truly believe in.
Lady Laurel relives the day ten years ago when she lost her sister Daniella and of the man who was there on the worst day of her life. She returns to Lancashire with two friends, determined to find answers. There she finally finds her mystery man Parker, the Earl of Seacrest, he doesn’t provide answers. Just more questions. A lovely finale to this brilliant series, it could be read on its own but characters do overlap & Laurel is sister to Dillan from an earlier book. I loved both Laurel & Parker, she ‘s never given up hoping to find out what happened to Daniella & he's determined to help in any way he can. Their attraction sizzles & they quickly fall in love but will they find all the answers? You’ll just have to read to find out! My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Lady Laurel Brightmore has had the same dream/nightmare for the last year - she relives the worst day of her life when she lost her sister, Daniella and a man with vivid blue eyes saved Laurel from drowning or did he? She never knew who he was or what happened, and she hired two investigators to aid her in her search for him. Laurel and her two detective friends return to Warrington to Brightmore's estate in search of any clues or answers.
Parker, the Earl of Seacrest, was back in Warrington for the first time in ten years when he had pulled a young lady out of the water and after she called for Daniella, he left and searched for her to no avail. He returned to his grandmother's home and became deathly ill with a lung infection from all the cold and wet. It took him a month to gain strength and then the sixteen-year-old was sent home to his parents, who gave him little freedom. A year later his parents died in a boating storm, and he became the earl, and his grandmother came to live with him.
We he hears the rumble of a carriage, he turns and sees three ladies step out, but it is the third that has caught his attention, although he can't see her features clearly, he knows she would be beautiful. He follows them to the constable's office and when they finish, Laurel's gaze locks with his & she says, "It's you" and then faints. The discovery of the other person in the river accident, the budding romance that builds and the digging for information on her sister's drowning makes for a wonderful story with endearing main characters, secondary characters and some visits from some characters from earlier books. This series has been so fun, exciting, romantic, even a surprise or two and I hate seeing it end but I know this author has another new series coming up that I will love! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
Wanted: Title of Countess: Victorian Romantic Mystery (Calling all Rakes Book 7) By: Tammy Andresen
Was it kismet the day that had16-year-old Parker walking along the River Mercer’s edge when he saw 9-year-old Laurel going under the rushing water of the river? He pulled her out of the river and it wasn’t until she had coughed up all the water she had swallowed that he found out there had been another girl out there. He tried his best to follow the river looking for another person, but he had no luck and the odds were she was gone.
Parker’s life changed that day, he felt he hadn’t done enough then when his parents drowned years later his grief of their loss was added to his memories from ten years ago.
Lady Laurel was only 9 years old when her sister Danielle was lost to the River Mercer. Laurel believed she was the reason why her sister was never found and she has suffered from nightmares on and off since that event. Lately, however nightmares have been reoccurring night after night and she feels she needs to try to see if anyone knew what happened to her sister.
The day Parker, Earl of Seascrest saw Laurel and her friends Charlotte and Rebecca on their way into the office of the Constable in Warrington was the day Parker’s life changed for the better. He recognized Laurel and was prepared to help her in any way he could. Parker, the Earl of Seacrest took one look at Laurel, knew who she was and vowed he would help her in any way he could.
Author Tammy Andresen is ending her Calling All Rakes series, with this beautiful story that has Parker and Laurel taking the bull by the horns, with the intention of finding out just what happened to Danielle. Both of these people have suffered great loss and have spent many years dealing with grief and guilt. So I ask you again, was their meeting kismet and has their relationship been written in the stars? They both know that somehow they were meant to meet again and if everything works the way they want it to…will the find the answers they are looking for?
This is one of Andresen’s best stories, so much to overcome, a love that was written in time and the perfect story to close out this series.
Romance, a mystery to be solved, and just enough tension to keep my interest, the heroine of this novel is desperate to solve her murky memories and nightmares that plague her, to find the truth about her sister. Enlisting the help of Lady Charlotte Westmoreland and Lady Rebecca Northampton, who have made a name for themselves investigating puzzling cases, Laurell returns to the scene of her near-death experience. Unbeknown to her, the man who was bending over her when she came to after almost drowning, has spotted the three ladies and is eager to find out what they are about. Upon seeing the Earl of Seacrest, Laurel is very cautious as she cannot decide whether he was rescuing her or attempting to murder her. Joining forces with the ladies, Parker has as much invested in finding the truth as Laurel, given he spent so many hours trying to find her missing sister, Daniella. Their quest leads them on a chase across the countryside, following the course of the river, and picking up tidbits of information along the way. Parker finds he cannot dismiss the beautiful young lady and will do everything in his power to ensure that she can finally find peace with the loss of her sister. The story comes to a surprising conclusion and a promise of a bright future. I received a copy of this romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Ten years ago, Laurel lost her sister Daniella in an icy river. She remembers being rescued by a mystery man who also goes running along the river to find and rescue Daniella. She sees the man, who happens to be Parker, Earl of Seacrest, when she goes back to where the accident happened. A fantastic way to bring an enjoyable series to a close. Laurel and Parker are great characters. She is will not give up her quest to find what really happened to her sister. Parker is determined to help and protect her. Off they go, following the river and looking for information. There is sizzling chemistry between these two, and along the way they fall in love. Will they find the answers she seeks? Romance, a bit of danger, and some surprises make this one you can’t put down. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Will the investigation offer her more than she expected …
A sweet love at second sight tale, as Laurel and Parker crossed path some ten years before. I really like this series with its no damsels-in-distress heroines, they have their failing and strength, and not stubborn enough to not accept help when it comes their way. Laurel wants to let the past rest but to be able to, she will have to find answers, answers no one has been able to provide so far. Why she won’t let it rest now she has for the first time in years an inkling of how to get responses. Parker did not know he needed closure too, upon encountering Laurel, he sees in her his future if he can assist her in making peace with her past. He understands she needs time before opening herself to something else. So he is ready to stand by her and wait for her to be ready.
A fast paced lovely insta-love tale. 4.5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
MYSTERY AND ROMANCE!!! Wanted: Title of Countess by Tammy Andresen is book 7 in the Calling all Rakes series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. I just loved the mystery behind this romance. Personally I think this was the best book in this series but I have to admit I loved them all. I have read most of Tammy’s book and I have to say she is a favorite of mine. I so enjoy reading her stories and they are always so well written. I found Wanted: Title of Countess to be original, had wonderful characters, very well written, have the real feel of the Victorian era, original and just a delight to read as always. The mystery behind this book was really great and I could not wait to see what would happen at the end but once it ended I was sad because I had read it too fast. This story has a lady that wants to know how her sister died 10 yrs later, nightmares about that day, an earl that feels that he did not do enough, rescue from a raging river, running away to find answers, being caught and not going alone, a pretend marriage, scandal, needing answers and falling in love. I don’t want to give too much away as it has a surprise ending. I am highly recommending you read this book.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Tammy Andersen gives another 5 STARS in this excellent well written storyline in Book 7 of her Series: Calling all Rakes. There is a wonderful BLURB provided for this Book 7 as there is for each of the previous 6 Books. This Series have given us some wonderful drama mystery with tension and spies, smugglers, ghost back from the dead and with all the tension very intense romantic love. We are left without a doubt, these men love their ladies.
This Book 7 is the story of Laurel & Parker, and they come back into each others lives after 10 years when their eyes meet in a Constables office, of all places. Instant recognition causes Laurel to have a light faintly stumble and Parker steps in to capture her in his arms.
This romantic reunion only continues after he catches her sneaking away from home & decided to join her fact finding journey. It is a wonderful hunt for 10 year old sightings of a drowning woman in a river, her sister, to searching of self for future. Parker also does a great inner search of self to determine his own fate that is touching and wonderful. I love both of these characters.
The characters in this series reoccur throughout the whole series.
Lady Laurel needs to figure out what happened the day her sister drowned and she almost did too. She's plagued by nightmares that seem to be growing more vivid. It's been 10 years since the tragedy and she is determined to find the answers. Hopefully, the nighmare will go away once she does. Now she just needs to find the man in the dreams to see if he was foe or friend When she finally finds Parker, the Earl of Seacrest, there are more questions then answers. Parker remembers the day vividly. He tried his hardest to find her sister. He searched but couldn't find her. He ended up getting sick and then his parents perished in a shipping accident. Together they set out to see if answers can be found. Not only do they find the answers, but they find love and peace as well. This is another wonderful quick story by Tammy. It's the end of a series where all the characters an intertwined and find happily ever afters. I received this book as an arc and this is my voluntary review.
Enjoyable tale. When the h is 9 she nearly drowns and is saved by the 16 year old H. He tries to find her missing sister in the water and doesn't. Fast forward 10 years and they meet again. She has been having nightmares all of a sudden for the last year, and no idea why they just start.
She is hell bent on trying to find her sister whether she is alive or dead - she needs closure. The H assists her and off they go knowing they will be forced to marry if discovered. Their attraction is mutual and they decide they want each other in their future.
I know this is a novella, but I wanted more in the ending - epilogue would have been icing on the cake.
Lovemaking outside of marriage - heat level 3 out of 5.
No cheating, stand alone, HEA, some romance and a tad of steam. This ended at the 87% on my e-reader. (ljb)
I enjoyed reading about Laurel and Parker, how they met to how they fell in love. When Laurel was young she fell in the river that ran through their property her sister tried to save her and was swept down river on a log and Parker jumped in to save Laurel only to find out there was one more in the river. He looked for hours but had no luck, he ended up getting sick from the cold water. Laurel started having nightmares about that day so they decided to investigate what happened to her sister and who rescued her. I'm glad in the end it all turned out to be a happy ending and found her sister alive and well but couldn't remember her name til she saw her little sister and brother. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
This is the ending of a delightful series. Insta love is always fun to read. Fate throwing two people together who feel the pull. He rescued her from drowning but couldn’t rescue her sister while a year later his own parents drowned in a shipping mishap. Ten years later they meet and she remembers him. Parker is sweet attentive and focused on her needs. Laurel is plagued with nightmares from her drowning and a need to find out what happened to her sister. The ending ties up all loose ends and all the friends live happily ever after, sigh. This was a very fast read. It’s easy and calm and lovely.
Another enjoyable read by a great author. This story is about Laurel, who years ago lost her sister, but also never understood exactly what happened. She started to have dreams of what happened and each time she remembered more. Parker is a mystery man, but he is the one who will help Laurel uncover her past and learn what really happened. This was a nice love story. I liked how Laurel never gave up and how Parker helped her any way he could. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
This book didn’t fit with the rest of the series. The story seemed somewhat rushed as far as the depth of the connection between Laurel and Parker. Laurel seemed overly obsessed and inconsistent. One minute she was strong and determined, and the next she was whining and depressed. Parker was completely supportive and consistently reliable so he made for a strong hero. They did also find out about the sister that was presumed drowned 10 years earlier so at least there was a happy ending so I gave the story 3 stars.
The loss of a sister through drowning, never knowing if she lived or died, nightmares every night. This is the life Lauren lived for 10 years. The young man who saved her suddenly comes back into her life. He having experienced grief, not only because he couldn’t find Daniella, but also the death of his parents and grandmother. Both living in the past. Are they the future saving each other? They couldn’t give up the search for Daniella. This is a truly beautiful story!
A beautiful sweet story of lost loves, how to try an overcome these challenges.
Parker and Laurels story is full of the wonderful ingredient that our author loves to add to her books, intrigue, lots of suspense, add that pinch of romance and we have a fantastic finale’s for this series.
Loved the whole series and would highly recommend.
A sweet story of lost family and love at second site after having met as children. Parker and Laurels story is full of intrigue, suspense, and romance a. s expected from this author. Which makes for a great finale for this series. Loved the whole series and would highly recommend it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The past comes back in this wonderful story of two people who were drawn together as children. Who knew they would meet years later and they would begin to look for what was once thought to be lost!
A fantastic series end with wonderful characters and a sweet connection that brings these two on a journey to find answers and love.
A heart-rending story to begin with. Laurel and her sister, Danielle, fell into the river when they were children. Laurel was saved by 16 year old Parker, but Danielle got washed away. Laurel has been having nightmares about her sister ever since, although she is adamant that she is still alive. Laurel and Parker go on a journey to find Danielle. I enjoyed reading this lovely story. 5☆
Fantastic, heartwarming story! It is so beautiful how karma brings people together. Laurel and Parker were truly meant to be in each other’s lives. Great end to the series!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my 84th book by Tammy Andresen and have been reading her since 2017. Obviously one of my favorite authors. Her books are quick reads for me but always a good read.
I enjoyed Laurel and Parker and their story. It was really well written and had a good plot.
So sad to see this series end. It has been very interesting and intriguing. Each book had characters that blended well with others in later books. Can't wait for the next series.
For a decade-long mystery, it was not filling in all the blanks. Why the dreams now? Why did Parker feel such guilt? And what were thinking? Easy read since it was short and sweet.
This whole series was fun to read. The mystery of Dillon and Laurel's sister is answered in this book. Laurel can not let go of what happened ten years ago. She meets the young man who saved her then. This is their story.
Great short wrap-up of a great series. Really enjoyed this series and the mystery and intrigue and romance that makes Tammy such an amazing storyteller.
