of love and life

Rate this book
Love is when two people feel the same way about each other and neither of them have any recollection of how it started. Of how it began. Love is two people knowing how much they care. Without having to remind each other constantly. Without making each other feel left out. Love is when two people just know. When they understand each other without the use of words. When they speak their own language and no one else seems to get it but them. Love is two people who stay. Who form a bond as they go on. Who can't seem to make sense of their own lives without each other. Love is kind. Two people being patient with each other. Two people giving one another time. Their own precious time. Every precious moment that could be spent doing something else. Love is two people growing together. Giving each other guidance. Giving each other the kind of spark that sets their souls on fire. Love is showing it. That you care. That you appreciate. That you are willing to sacrifice anything to make the relationship work. Love is two people. Two hearts. Two souls. Two bodies. Fusing. Together. Feeling what the other feels. Knowing what the other knows. And never doubting any of it. Always pushing for greatness. Together. Always seeking a little more.

5 stars because as expected, Mr. Drake gave me a journey and a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried. I smiled. But mostly, I had to pause reading because I just cried. I had to give myself a time out because I cried so much, it was hard to breathe.

This collection of poems had a few gems, but I had to knock off stars for the typos, the Ns not showing up in the poem titles (I read on kindle) and for the poems being mostly tropes about love and abuse broken into 2-3 word lines. Not very original or groundbreaking, but I can still feel the expression of pain, the frustration of love and relationships in a world where we're not taught how to navigate them.

Such simple errors spoiling everything

The spelling errors, ultimately, are unforgiveable. I thought the first spelling mistake was deliberate: it seemed to fit with the writing. However, I realised as I read further that the book is simply written poorly.

Enjoyable

Made me realize a lot of things I need to learn about myself. It was like hitting a needle to my heart.
