Annabeth (Anna) is a curvy 18-year old high school senior who moved from California to Last Fall, Michigan after her parents death in a car accident. She just wants a boring mundane senior experience, but she gets the opposite after running into Lucas Ryder (Luke). Luke is considered bad news; rumors always flying around that he is in a gang and dangerous, the thing about rumors is that though exaggerated they do have an ounce of truth. Luke does work for Frank to do some semi-illegal stuff and he does have his close friends who are with him during it all. The one thing the rumors don't seem to know is why?
Anna and Luke seem to gravitate to each other even when they don't want to. What starts as typical high school drama from a bully named Christy, parties, and feelings unsaid; soon twists into something more devastating. What Anna hasn't told anyone is that she has been getting anonymous notes from someone. What started off as harmless soon transforms into something Anna would never have imagined.
Very cute story. Emotional. You will need kleenex. First love. Bullying. Illness. The main characters are very likable. Luke, the MMC comes off as a bad boy but has a soft, genuine nature. I enjoyed this book. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶
The book was ok. It would have been better and gotten a better rating if the writer would have had someone edit this book. The punctuation and run on sentences in this book was horrible!
This story was very well written. It talked about first loves and loss. The heart wants what the heart wants. Luke didn’t want to admit that he liked Annabeth. It was so refreshing that Annabeth was comfortable with her size. She knew that she was smart, kind, and worthy of love.
The friendships in the book only strengthens the story line. Everyone needs an honorary big brother as loyal as Matt.
I would recommend this book to everyone. I can’t wait to read Matt’s story next.
Welcome readers to an incredible new story. Sabrina Morgan's On the Plus Side is the first book in the Curvy Love Series and I am all about it. The book narrates the story of our protagonist Annabeth Daniels, who along with being a nerd and having no friends at all, is also a plus sized girl and struggles with the challenges that come with being curvy.
It took me forever, comparatively, to read this book. The editing wasn’t great; the storyline was unbelievable and so incredibly rushed. I actually DNF’d the book for a day before I redownloaded and was committed to finish NOT because of the book, but because I don’t DNF things. I felt bad giving a book a single star, but my gods, this book tried to do too much, too fast, and in a too much ridiculous way. I felt that if I didn’t take the book seriously and see it as a mockery, I was able to power through.
Dear author, please get yourself on TikTok and promote, promote, promote! I know it’s been 10 years since this originally came out but I need book 3. Have mercy and give me some closure.
Also, author for me this books a 4 ⭐️ read, but I can tell why it averages at 3⭐️’s
First, it ends abruptly. Like after a super cute and swoon worthy scavenger hunt the book goes to prom and just ends. Wtf! Really!
Second, Lacey dies. This adorable little girl that we all fall for dies and it’s super sad which would have been fine if we’d been prepared for this at all. Sure she got sick. Sure she was in the hospital. But it all seems so downplayed in hindsight and I just wasn’t ready for it as a reader. It seems totally out of left field and like it was checking a drama quota.
Third, Christy gets away and she’s just gone. How does this villainous character who been trouble from day 1 not get any comeuppance? Rude! It’s rude, totally rude for her to get away without punishment and totally unbelievable that an 18 year who’s been shot avoids being found.
In addition, some scenes just don’t make sense. -Like Matt has connections to get large sums of money for guns. How? It’s never explained. -Matt also was a little sad and distant then that plot line was dropped and we never find out why. So, why was it even mentioned? -And Annabeth is crowned homecoming queen when just three months prior people were oinking at her in the cafeteria. How’d she win the student body over? We’re never told.
Lastly, the story starts out slow and bland. Nothing stood out at the beginning that made me want to continue reading. I’m happy I stuck with it. It made me laugh and it made me tear up. But, and this bears repeating that the story starts off really slow and bland.
On the plus side, I grew to adore the side characters. I will be reading Matt’s story. In part for him and in part for more closure with Luke and Annabeth’s story line. Maybe it just me, but I prefer happily ever afters instead of happily for now. Hopefully Matt’s storyline doesn’t leave me hanging for either couple in books 1 and 2.
There were too many things going on in this book. Unnecessary plots, little to none carácter growth, inconsistencies, and more.
What bother me the most was that even though he specifically says he liked being called Lucas by her and asked her to not call he Lukey, she just blatantly ignored that for the rest of the book. It was a little thing, but it was quite disappointing.
I so wanted to love this book being a plus size gal and all but god I couldn’t. It started off decent enough but then I hit page 10 and I was done. I skimmed 1/2of it because I didn’t want to DNF it. They were in love after a week? Really? And god LUKEY? That got annoying. Matt calling her his little sister? In a week? I just cant.
This book was so unexpected. It made you laugh, cry, swoon, sad angry. All the characters were just wonderful. You really feel like you know the main characters well and you truly can’t wait for them to find their happy ending.
This was a tough read tbh. So many side story lines that made no sense. Too much happening and so unrealistic. This was supposed to be a palate cleanser but I need a palate cleanser for the palate cleanser now.
3.75 rating There was quite a lot of issues for most of these teenagers in this story and it kind of dark, but I did like how the author addressed the issues most plus size girls face.
very cringe. the build up of relationships was entirely too fast with little to no substance or development. the storyline surrounding being fat was also disappointing and very basic.
I needed this book in high school. Loved this soo much. The twists at the end. I cried myself to sleep because of this book. Like a I felt a huge loss as well. Broke my heart in two, did not expect this book to do that.

I LOVED this story. The characters were so complex and multi-dimensional; I really enjoyed the twists and turns that the side characters provided and I am really interested to see where the next book in this series goes.
The writing style of this book felt quite juvenile, with grammatical errors scattered throughout. By the end, I was confused and unsure of what was happening. That said, it’s a quick and cute high school romance overall
