Overrun provides the first full account of the worst mass immigration border crisis ever to strike the United States, how and why the administration of President Joe Biden unleashed it, how it has forever altered the nation, and what voters and all future leaders need to comprehend in order to finally end it.
“Todd Bensman tells the truth about illegal immigration and how it is not a victimless crime. With immigration front and center this year, his book is a must -read.” –Thomas Homan, former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 2017-2018, and author of Defend the Border and Save Solving Our Most Important Humanitarian and Security Crisis .
The time has come to acknowledge and comprehend that America is weathering the worst mass border migration event in the nation’s history. Millions of foreign nationals have overrun the southern border, starting on Inauguration Day in 2021, and millions more will cross over by the end of President Joe Biden’s term in 2024. This event is historic by all measures, exceeding even the storied chronicles of Ellis Island, and portends the same permanent change for the nation. Unfortunately, a fog of a fierce partisan information war obscures that it is even happening as well as basic truths Americans desperately need to have about this historic event. Radical ideologues, whose ideas even the modern Democratic Party had always rejected, gained power in 2021 and, with impunity, implemented an extreme reality-divorced theology about immigration. Americans never voted for their experiment or the irrevocable consequences that immediately waylaid a surprised nation.
But the American electorate has upcoming chances in the election booth to reclaim their say. This book provides what is needed reporting-based analysis that will lay bare this crushing ongoing emergency’s causes, dimensions, and chaotic impacts so as to finally illuminate the pathway out of it. Here is ground zero of the human tsunami that smashed into America and is still washing into all fifty states with permanent consequences. It is a true story that can be found nowhere else because it comes from the author’s frontline reportage throughout the borderlands and all along the migration trails in Central America from its first days. Its primary sources are not “experts,” politicians and media pundits, but the witnesses to this history, the immigrants at its core.
I don't care what your political affiliation is. Everyone needs to read or listen to this book. This is the truth of our crisis at the southern border. True stories of what the crossers are enduring, fleeing, and dying for. It tells of the history leading up this crisis and what transpired from both political sides to get us where we are today. Read it, and know the truth that mainstream media has blocked from American's on a daily basis. What little information that made it's way to American's everyday news was "doctored". We were feed others points of view instead of what was really going on.
If you are looking for an informative book on immigration as it stands currently in 2023 and how we got here this book is for you. Very detailed & well written for someone who is trying to understand and gain knowledge. Blown away by what a tragedy immigration has become and it’s very clear who is to blame…The White House. It takes sometime to get through this book but very informative and understandable.
In “Overrun: how Joe Biden unleashed the greatest border crisis in U.S. history,” Todd Bensman chronicles the immigration disaster that has been unleashed at America’s southern border. Mr. Bensman has written a judicious assessment of the situation and provides a factually based account largely ignored by reporters working for corporate media outlets.
“Overrun” is not an overly alarmist screed. Bensman, a National Security Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, buttresses his argument with thorough reporting; interviews with cartel members, immigrants, coyotes, bureaucrats, law enforcement officers, and NGO activists.
Bensman illustrates that Biden’s policies are extreme. No other Democratic administration has ever pursued such radical policies. Now, America’s “charitable” foundations are spending hundreds of millions of dollars of tax dollars to finance propaganda suggesting that immigration enforcement is immoral. And predictably, the illegal aliens whom Bensman interviews are engaged in behavior foretold by Austrian economists.
Our asylum system is at the root of our current immigration problem. “Overrun,” documents the many ways in which asylum policies have been used by illegal aliens, most of whom are economic rent seekers. They have little respect for law, and many are coached on how to show “credible fear” of persecution when questioned by officials.
Politically, moderate Democrats do not exist— none have meaningfully altered Joe Biden’s immigration agenda, which has been completely run by the far Left. For instance, my friend, the special education school administrator in Cheyenne, Wyoming, advocates open borders, no deportation, and unlimited social and medical services for all migrants.
The modern Democratic Party wants to “fundamentally transform the United States of America,” as Obama promised to do when he was president. That said, Todd Bensman shows how Democrats have discovered the “sanctuary nation” As my friend in Cheyenne would say, “To make an omelet, smash some eggs.”
Journalist and former intelligence analyst Bensman explores the reasons behind the current immigrant “invasion.” When Trump won the 2016 presidency, immigration decreased substantially. However, in 2020, when all the Democrat candidates pledged a “safe and humane” path to citizenship, immigrants considered this an “invitation” and the surge was on. Potential immigrants avidly listened to the media, and judged whether the money spent on a journey north would be well spent. After many, many interviews, Bensman concluded that nothing in the “root causes” had changed—no notable increase in natural disasters or political persecution—and the prime reason for the increase was a desire for the perceived material wealth of the American lifestyle. Among topics Bensman covers are a 1997 loophole that changed the game plan; Biden regulations allowing free access to pregnant women, families with children under 7, and unaccompanied teens; cartel violence and the criminal element (including terrorists) among immigrants; and Border Patrol officers who find that border walls DO act as deterrents, despite claims of government “experts.” The book is readable and exhaustively researched, and sheds some light on the causes and at least some initial solutions to the crisis.
There is some good information about how US immigration became Overrun by ILLEGAL ALIENS. But this book weaves back and forth between a very pro-immigration stanch and the averse affects of ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION... and it never labels the Dims+RINOs for their obvious subversion of our Immigration system. It does rattle the reader with many legal notices about which law was a draw to foreign nations to send immigrant here ILLEGALLY. And mentioned various groups waiting in Mexico for liberalizations of Executive branch law+procedure... But one would expect Condemnation of the Biden policy which never seemed to be written into this book. For me, this was a way too long book for the meager analysis of the problem.
This started before Joe Biden took office but the current administration has created and insured a devastation to American culture, sovereignty, and security that will endure for decades.
I read this as research for my work in progress. Sobering look at what is really going on with the border. Despite what you may be hearing about deportation plans, Trump's re-election is good news for America, politically exploited immigrants, and the world. Read and learn! :D
