In this book Max continues his training under Rima and Captain Axel. Rima seeing his physical training and Axel doing his weapons training. When they get to the planet they discover that the Enzite Federation, a really nasty humanoid insects have enslaved one of the local tribes on the planet and have unearthed some sort of portal. This portal has unknown potential and everybody wants it. The Galactic counsel sends more troops Ursonian troops and a groups of scientists to examine the portal. A village springs up outside the fort built around the portal. With those who come seeking provide goods for the military, and some who are nefarious. Max seems to make an enemy of the local crime boss. He also makes friends though as well. Tem is an historian and there to record the events that happen around the Rowki, each one is assigned one. He also adopts a baby wolfhound. With two more portals yet to be found, it becomes a race to take control of them before the Enzite federation, or the Sait (a group of that is opposite of the Rowki, and has some members of the Rowki who switched sides).

Good read
Another exciting book in this series. Just a normal guy, battered by the loss of his wife who turns to the bottle to drown his pain. Zap! Transported onto an alien spacecraft and told he has been selected to be a member of an elite guardian force called the Rowki. Why him? He is overweight with no special skills. Most aliens are much larger, stronger and smarter. His trainer, Rima, is skeptical of his ability to become a Rowki. The Guardian Council choose him. Now it’s up to Rima to turn a sows ear into a silk purse! His only strength is his heart, his ability to dig deep and not give up no matter how difficult it may be. He’s come a long way but he is still just learning. Now sinister forces are attacking and innocent civilians of various species need protection. Ancient artifacts have been discovered on a primitive planet. Science, faith, power, and greed are plunging the planet into chaos that has galactic implications! What else could you ask for?

Max Tyco and friends are back and Max is finally understanding everything he has gotten into. He is on his way to become a Rowki Guardian. He and his group must guard a group of scientists that have found a portal, but it is said there are three portals so they must find the other two. But with the bad guys coming hang on this might get a bit rough.
I have fallen for Max and his friends, they are great and Max’s ways at outsmarting some of the bad guys has me cheering them on, and wishing I was there with them, helping. This series is awesome and narrator Jeffery Kafer really brings it all to life. Whatever form you chose to enjoy this book in will be great and you won’t regret it.

Very Interesting Series
Going into this series I was expecting a planet hopping protector who fought evil. Turns out at least through 2-3 books it seems like this story arc will exist solely on this one planet. I'm also not sure why it has to take place in another galaxy? I feel like the physics of FTL in this universe aren't properly explained (yet).
Anyway, enough with the complaining. Max and all are a lot of fun to read. He's meeting new friends and getting stronger by the day. There are a ton of twists in this book and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to the next in the series.

An excellent continuation of the story
5 stars as the author takes us on the continuing journey of an American truck driver thrown into a land of aliens and wonder. Max is trying to get his head around being one of the Rowki. A group of beings dedicated to fighting for freedom and truth, but there are factions that do not want this and are desperate to challenge all they stand for

A great book to read and enjoy.
You are taken on a journey where people are trying to help save a planet and there life style. A alien race wants to take over every where , there are people trying to stop them. But freedom still wants to free of choice , the author did a great job with the book. Thanks great job.

Sucked my mind into an alternate universe.
Alrighty then, pull my mind through a vortex, scramble my perceptions, and tell me a bedtime story. Goldilocks is not trying out for the Ursonian corps cheerleading squad. She would faint at first glance. Max is not maxing out yet. So I am looking forward to the next book.

Good follow up, but I hate cliffhanger endings. Each book should be a complete novel. We'll see how book 3 goes. Read on the flight from DC to Las Vegas - so a good airplane book.
