Gather round the fire called life and let me tell you a tale. This is a graphic bit of writing based on real events in a level one trauma emergency room. Action is a constant in an ER and this book will let you feel the ebb and flow of blood and lives. Trust how fragile we truly are as shown in this book. This is raw, based on real events with a conglomerate of trauma's. Medical types will love it due to the perfect insertion of how it really is. People that have never seen a trauma in their lives will be the fly on the wall of horrendous moments and watch the skills of medical people move swiftly to help save a life. The proper respect given to all humans no matter their walk in this life. This is not for the faint of heart. So dally not to read it if you cannot take blood, brains and humor. For without humor us medical types would not make it out of a day alive. At least our minds wouldn't. Enter at your own risk. Welcome to my ER.

I learned quickly what working in a Level I trauma unit was like by reading JARED - ER TECH by Mitch Bensel who worked in a major hospital trauma unit over 20 years. This book is based on real events experienced by the author. The writing was so good, I felt I was in the room with Jared, the patient, and other staff. Some patients dying or on the verge of dying are saved and they dramatically return to life and living. This was a "can't put it down" book. I want to read it again, and have purchased it as a gift for friends who work in the medical field. I highly recommend this book for anyone who works in a hospital at any level. Persons who live in small communities have no idea what a big city hospital trauma unit is like. The incoming patients are nonstop. Medical personnel have seen sights that would be considered paranormal by many, but witnessed often. The portal to life or death, the trauma unit, takes a special personality to work there. I totally respect the doctors, staff and techs for all they do after learning about it in this book. Definitely an eye opener.
