Millie Marsh is a fiercely independent CIA agent. Mason Davis is a headstrong Navy SEAL. Join them for this second chapter of their story. When Millie takes the final step toward the answers she craves, will she be forced to choose between her head and her heart?
“This sequel absolutely exceeded expectations. I wasn’t sure which direction the story would go in but it hit all the marks! There was a lot of action, humor, love, and just pure emotion. It built on to the first book seamlessly and took quite a few shocking turns.” Amazon Review
Reality. Who needs it? Definitely not Millie. She’s had enough to last a lifetime. In the past six months, she finally found out who killed her mom and took out a terrorist network in the process.
Enough reality. It’s time for a little fantasy. And she’s definitely got the right man for that: Navy SEAL Mason—the alpha male with a tender side—who protected her from danger and healed her broken heart. Then he made a life-changing sacrifice just to be near her. Who could ask for anything more?
But two months into living in this blissful bubble, reality strikes again. Millie’s boss tells her a shocking secret. It’s news Millie has been wanting to hear for almost nine years. But is it the truth? Or is her boss only dangling this tantalizing tidbit to get her to take on another dangerous mission?
There’s only one way to find out—dive headfirst back into reality. But will this decision risk her relationship with Mason? Is she putting any chance she has of a happily-ever-after ending on hold to chase a ghost?
“A great book and a wonderful sequel to Eight Years! A few twists and turns that were unexpected. The characters were fully developed and I felt like I was right in the story. Finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down!!!” Amazon Review
“Love, love, love. The story picks up with Mason and Millie’s story from Eight Years. It follows what happens next in their story and you learn more about Millie’s dad and why he did the things he did. The books are so fluid and the story lines flow so well. I read It in less than a day.” Amazon Review
Attention: I'm in the process of changing all of my books over to my pen name, Millie Banks. For a few months, you will see both names, Donna Schwartze and Millie Banks, on my books. Thanks for your patience as I make this transition.
One review for all three books in this trilogy -- I really enjoyed it from start to finish, and the author didn't slack as the story continued from one book to the next. At times I felt it might be lagging in some needed depth, but the books aren't long and were quick-reads. Overall, the complete story was very entertaining and interesting filled with suspense, mystery and romance -- and enough light-hearted and fun-to-read dialogue. Two very strong and determined main characters, a team of hot Navy SEALs and lots of action in fast paced plot that covers years, kept me needing more and didn't stop until I read the three books back to back.
This book is about Millie, Mason, and Mack. Millie is a CIA agent, Mason is a Navy SEAL, and Mack is...dead. Millie and Mason are continuing their relationship from the first book, when they are looped into an interesting assignment that deals with Millie’s past. Together (with their teams), they work to uncover the truth behind this assignment and what they find out is shocking!
After reading book one, I was really invested in the lives of Millie and Mason, and was excited to see how their relationship played out. This sequel absolutely exceeded expectations. I wasn’t sure which direction the story would go in but it hit all the marks! There was a lot of action (military and the other kind 🤭), humor, love, and just pure emotion. It built on to the first book seamlessly and took quite a few shocking turns. I’ve personally never read any books like the ones in this series.
Similar to the first book, this book is told from multiple perspectives (past and present). I loved the writing style, the use of cuss words, and the overall ruggedness of this story! Can’t wait for the third book!
Mason and Millie are so easy to fall in love with - they struggle but always find their way back. I love that even with strong male characters Donna is able to add in such a strong female character and allow them to coexist so fluidly. They aren’t without their struggles, but they are what make their relationships so believable and it allows them to suck you into their story so fast! Fantastic continuance of their story.
I loved this book!! It took me so long to read it because I wanted to finish it when the 3rd one was out so I took my time. Donna Schwartze wrote it wonderfully and added so many genres to keep you interested: romance, action, sarcasm, friendship, I love it! Can’t wait to read the third but I hate when series/books end!!!!
Absolutely fantastic! I think I liked it more than the first book - can’t wait for book 3. The author definitely knows what she’s doing and I hope she writes a lot more. This was a quick and easy read and had me hooked from the beginning.
What I love about books is the endless possibilities you get to imagine their physical appearances. 2 books down the Trident Trilogy, 1 more to go. I absolutely hate Alex from the moment he was introduced in the story but I kinda wanted to read more about him, more to see him struggle really. Lol.
This book made me so happy for Millie. I don’t think I can take any more plot twists so book 3, please be good to me.
First book of 2021! Book #2 in this series. Enjoyed the continuation of Millie, Mack and Mason from Book 1. Recommend reading book 1 first for insight on Millie’s story and her thoughts behind her actions. Looking forward to release of book 3.
Great conclusion to the relationship started in Eight Months. Totally looking forward to the next in the Trilogy and would love it to be an ongoing series.
Readers ask me which of my books is my favorite. This is it. I love it for a lot of different reasons, but particularly for the dramatic twist in the plot . . . If you read Eight Years, go on to The Only Reason and Wild Card. You'll want to see what happens.
If you're done with the trilogy, be sure to read Truth or Tequila. The sequel, Raine Out, features characters from The Trident Trilogy (Eight Years, The Only Reason, Wild Card).
Characters = 5/5 Plot = 5/5 Romance = 3/5 Hotness = 1/5 Mystery = 5/5 Action = 5/5 Drama = 4/5 Darkness = 4/5 Humor = 1/5 Stars = 5 ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Cliffhanger = Yes & No, Happy for now. Would I recommend this book = Yes Would I read future books by this author = Yes
First and foremost, HOLY PLOT TWIST! Can't wait to read book 3. New author to me and this serious has not disappointed me.
Things I really liked: ✔The drama and action! Jaw dropping and dangerous. ✔All the characters. ✔The ending. Oh my, you could end it here but why? I need more of Millie and Mason.
What I disliked: Just like book 1 the flip flopping of years. I'm happy they were broke up with new chapters but make sure you read the chapter headers to know the years & pov.
Wow! This is the second book in the Trident Trilogy and Donna didn’t miss a beat! There is so much action, adventure, twist and turns. Totally didn’t see the big twist coming.
Love Millie and Mason and the additional cast of characters. The banter, strength, dedication and determination of the characters bring this story to life.
Couldn’t put this one down. Romantic suspense isn’t my typical choice, but loving reading more about Millie & Mason. Also so excited that Mack is actually alive (though I knew this from the Grand Slam series), since he brought Millie out of her sadness she’s had since she thought she lost him. With him back she can focus on improving her relationship with both her Dad and Mason.
I could not put this book down! I love every single Donna Schwartze novel, and they all typically have me teary eyed but this one had me sobbing at times. Her books are always such quick reads because I never want to put them down, and I never want the story to end. Cannot wait to start book three!
This one took our characters from the into a new wild adventure. I really enjoyed the new details. This is a such fun read that I may have stayed up and binged it. 😏. Highly recommend reading them in order to avoid the spoilers!
I forgot how much I liked thrillers. The tension, uncertainty of what will happen next.... Donna Schwartze does this well and includez, love, romance and a sense of family. Really love this series.
The Only Reason is book 2 in the (The Trident Trilogy) by Donna Schwartze. I literally started this straight after finishing Eight Years. Was so excited to carry on Millie and Mazon's story, to see what was next in store for them.
Wow my head is spinning with all that happens in this book, cause flippin heck what a book this was. You think poor Millie has been through enough, she finally got the answers she was looking for in Eight of years, and now all she wants now is chill time with Mason and to try and enjoy her life. But of course Millie's boss tells her something she has been wishing is true since that horrible day. But is he telling her the truth or is he telling her a lie just to get her back. We all know Millie, she won't let this go. What I love about these books are the different POVs with it changing between Millie and Mason life now, and going back through the years of , Millie’s dad Mack lifeith him and Millie younger days and bringing her up. It all starts adding up and the secrets that are revealed are out of this world, I was screaming on how this ended was so incredible.
Yet again Donna I absolutely love your books, they get better and better. I adore these characters so much they feel like friends of mine. I love how all the story lines through the books are all coming together perfectly. Fast pacing and full of action and banter, laughter, and tears and lots of emotion that leave your heart melting for so much more. I can't wait for the big finale of Millie and Mason and the gang, I really don't want it to end though, I adore this series so much.
Book 2 in the trilogy didn’t disappoint. A lot of passion and action. Loved the twist! Rushed through this one too, couldn’t put it down. On to the next one.
